Great!! Let those chickens do all the work! I promise they will love every minute of it.

I’m gonna do a combo of pheasant..duck…turkey and chicken too break down mulch and wood bits..& feature it on my UA-cam channel…probably other types of birds also.

…I expect that except for big pieces 🦆 will 🐝 the final step….or a similar water foul that did get a foul because ducks can 🐝 foul but they aren’t actually 🐝.

      ..yes I also feature 🐝

Yea the reason why the 🦆 maybee the final step usually is because my 🦆 🐝 soo quackey (although Id not trust them with a key because they probably would eat it)…although they are mostly all are pretty clean minus all the mud splatters…but even with a pond and underground home they will usually bee dry unless swimming or drinking water…or playing with water…or over probably millions of things they could do to and with water…its amazing how much they appreciate water!!
The water foul is increasing my soil moisture as well as humidity..I expect to do 30 🦆 possibly more ..so far mostly breeding 3-4 varieties.

great system. I'd bury a bucket of food waste in a mound of those leaves as often as possible and the chickens will love that and the bugs it brings in and moisture. check out Edible Acres channel. Similar idea, but they add a lot of food scraps to the carbon for the chickens to turn.

That’s a great idea! We feed lots of food scraps but we don’t bury them. You are right buried food would have the chickens in overdrive mixing the compost!

Why don’t you get the chickens to do ALL the composting ?
You should wet the leaves when you give it to the chickens so it adds moisture to the pile. Some grain and veggie scraps too 😊

They essentially do all the composting, however, the deep litter from their run is so "hot" from all the nitrogen deposits, we like to give it a few months in the big compost to balance out before adding it to the garden. It could possibly be broken down enough when it comes out of the run, but I've burned some tomato plants in the past with it being to nitrogen rich and choose to let it "cool" down for a while before adding to the garden. Thanks for the comment and input, we love hearing it!!
