I just love Ann and Jerry together. I also love John and Patty. These couples are so cute together and they make me laugh 😂 a lot. RIP PATTY DUKE ASTIN I miss you very much. RIP Ann and Jerry also.
Observing this, I can clearly see how attached Gene Rayburn was to his wife, Helen, claiming nobody could possibly take her place. It is no wonder Gene's health went into free fall after she died and clearly did nothing in the last years of his life. On the other hand, look at Patty Duke and John Astin. That marriage ended because of Patty's manic depression. She eventually got better and now I believe has been married for years. What can you say about Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara? What a couple. Married for 61 years. They were a great team too! Let's see if Jerry is able to pull himself out of losing his wife. It is definitely not an easy task. We will miss Anne very much! Thanks for posting this!
I just realized something. Gene Rayburn is a classy dresser, and looks almost as good as Bert Convy. I miss those two game show host. They were the Best.
Brings me back to my childhood the signal at 20:30 was also used on "Now you see it" Thanks for posting an episode from 1978 the banana section really set a all time record from this show.
@@kristabrewer9363 Oh! Thank you! I didn't know that. I used to watch The Facts of Life when I was growing up. Oh! Just found out Sean Astin is his brother! Whoa.
Might have just been PR spin but I remember an interview where Patty said John had always been a saint and put up with a lot during their marriage. He may have been marriage shy after what he went through with Patty and her situation. No personal knowledge, just speculation.
This episode of Tattletales from 1978, was towards the end of its first incarnation and original run on CBS with host Bert Convy and announcer Gene Wood who would later return on Super Password in 1984. Tattletales returned to CBS for its second incarnation in 1982, with the same host Bert Convy and new announcer Johnny Olson. And at 0:44 Bert Convy said welcome to blank, but it is not Match Game as Gene Rayburn and his wife Helen were on Tattletales in this episode. RIP Gene and Helen Rayburn, Patty Duke Astin, Anne Meara, Bert Convy Johnny Olson and Gene Wood. Match Game Super Password and Tattletales now air on BUZZR.
The irony of it all (since women statistically outlive men by 2 years) the husbands in this feature outlived their female spouses. And these women were actually younger than their husbands. And young-looking Burt, who died before them all, never made it past the year 1991 when he passed at the tender age of 57. Jerry Stiller and John Astin, the oldest of them all (besides Gene) are still alive. Life is full of paradoxes. As they say in the Far East: We're all born in order, but we don't die in order.
How does it feel to be a troll who likes to stir up trouble? John Astin is NOT dead. Please try, if you can, to keep foolishness from the website. Calling people names who you don't know is a sad sign of where our society is, with Jezebels contributing to the hate that is destroying us. So if you lambaste someone, make sure you get your facts straight so that you don't expose extreme ignorance. Then again, some people enjoy stupidity.
I'm sorry, but I have to gripe a bit here. I actually watched this when I was about 10 and it was on CBS in the afternoon. It never dawned on me that this show paid out so little. Usually the point of a game show is to see big cash and prizes awarded. This show's more like Newlywed Game but with celebs, which I guess is what gave it it's popularity. Having said that, there's what....100 people per section right? Even on the biggest jackpot ever, that's $16.75 per person in that section. Oh BOY!!!!! :) Talk about a chintzy show, oh my! I remember Convey saying that they have checks that automatically print out the amounts as the guests leave. So the blue section gets nothing, the red section gets a check for .75 per person as well. OMG!!! Talk about a tight budget. I can't believe how long this was actually on. I guess at the start they knew they had to add the $1,000 to the winning share and even with it......what's the average, about a $300 haul? So with a grand added, it's $1,300 split 100 ways for $13 per guest. Good Lord, what a cheap show. LOL!
In another episode Burt talks about how members of civic organizations and clubs will secure blocks of seats with the intent to donate the winnings to a preferred charity. That makes the (admittedly meager) prize money have a bit more bang.
GSN must have showed very few shows from 1978. This show looks like it was shown in 1997, before the "dark period". I remember in 1996 GSN was in 1977 then went back to 1974.
I’m 67 years old and I don’t remember a time when I didn’t love Stiller and Meara. All my friends watched The Ed Sullivan Show for the musical groups. I watched for the comedians. Also, John Aston was Patty Duke’s 3rd husband. Was there really a question who would remarry first?
I am sorry about Patty Duke's mental health struggles. This was not news to me. She did not have an easy early life. Full of family problems and instability. Patty Duke was a wonderful actress, and a funny, lovely person.
John Astin is the only survivor of this trio of celebrity couples. RIP Eugene Peter Jeljenic Rubessa "Gene" Rayburn, Helen Ticknor Jeljenic Rubessa Rayburn (not sure of her middle name, if one exists), Anna Marie "Patty" Duke (nee Astin), Gerald Isaac "Jerry" Stiller, Anne Therese Meara Stiller, Bernard Whalen "Bert" Convy, and Eugene Edward "Gene" Wood.
Hi if they ever start a new tattletales i hope they keep certain questions out like which one of the husband would want to be like one of the other husbands it puts them in awkward situation and visa versa with the ladies but otherwise i enjoy the show keep showing the videos peace😺🙂
I liked it when they did the story thing. Here, everyone is just answering what they think the other would say - we don't really get the truth from anyone. Everyone is just confused about the questions. As a viewer, we aren't really getting any "gossip" or a look into their lives with the way they have the question/answer thing set up.
Notice that the ash tray between Helen and Patty disappears at the last segment. Patty was a heavy smoker (unfiltered Camels I seem to remember reading). I bet she lit up and then hid the ash tray behind the TV monitor.
i love her all the good she did, the people she saved, helped me for sure and to read the nasty comments make it worse. love you Anna Marie Duke Pearce.
This episode showed how getting the correct answer did NOT mean you had a perfect marriage. The winning team hosted by Patti Duke and John Astin were the only couple on this panel to divorce.
In my Bert Convy words, we will be back with the $300 question that may have already decided the game. We are back with the question worth $300. As I said, this might have already decided the game. Gene & Helen, you can not win the game. Jerry and Anne, you can't win the game, but you can at least tie the game.
Mic down the shirt of a woman. If that happened nowa days the show would get cancelled, the host would get fired, loosing his family and home. He would get shamed by all and every one would hate him. On the other hand , the woman that agreed to do that mic down the shirt stunt would be a strong hero that a man took advantage of and needs 5 million dollars to make things right again. Woman are a joke.
that's the weirdest mustache ever, ugh. these contestants just aren't naturally funny at ad-libbing. the guy in the middle is about as boring as it gets. and "cooking and cleaning" for the women, OMG. What convinced them to put old couples on?

Yeah, she seemed edgy and uncomfortable in her skin…
@@DanielBarberMusic Well put.
About the first question, who would remarry if they split, I googled that john and patty were the only ones that split. And, she did remarry sooner.
She definitely had him whipped. Although I was a fan of Patty, she was very high maintenance, and he was probably a nervous wreck after their split.

Yup though if all 3 teams get all the money they had to round it up to $584, and that's divided by 100 people in the audience section.
