There is no console war. Xbox is focusing on Game Pass (which streams in the cloud and can be played on any screen with cloud streaming, no console required and makes ridiculous monthly money). Nintendo has merged their mobile and console business, so they're playing a different game than the other two (and have outsold the PS5 as a result). PlayStation is winning because they're still using a strategy the other two aren't anymore.

I won’t solely because of how much I invested. There’s so many games i’ve bought on Xbox, so many consoles i bought, I’m too deep into the Xbox ecosystem to abandon it now. The only reasons Xbox’s financial issues scare isn’t out of competitiveness, but because I just hope Microsoft doesn't pull the plug on it. I feel like they won’t, but my confidence in that statement isn’t the strongest. If I knew for a fact that Xbox will continue to make their consoles even after selling poorly and porting over games, I could care less. But to lose the thousands of dollars worth of games I have? It’s hard to get us back because we are older now with kids and have different desires and priorities. The industry went very woke and Xbox gave up a lot of exclusives and stopped being hands on with the gaming studios as they were prior. When Spencer said exclusives actually cause you to lose money or is a less profitable venture, I don’t deny that but it maintains customer retention and a feeling or desire to be loyal to your platform. God of War had been an exclusive for years and had done just fine as a AAA! When Black OPS and Gears of War and Splinter Cell were exclusives people loved it, they had the better online experience. XBOX did have HALO and most people rather they wish to admit it or not prefer the Xbox controller. So much so that Sony decided to mimic the design with the dual sense. Well PlayStation has many many many more blockbuster and bar raising exclusive games. That’s why there’s a console war (I think). Xbox has more power in the console apparently, but PlayStation has more must play titles. So in your screw driver example, you could say “one type of screwdriver is better because I can use it in multiple situations so it’s worth more.” Etc.

It's far from over for Xbox lol. What has Playstation got from Xbox game wise? Sea of Thieves, like almost 10 years later. Don't get me wrong it is the best new IP created within thar time and the way it dominated preorders on the Playstation justifies that. Sony won't be getting any new Xbox exclusives. Maybe they release the Halo collection and the Gears collection, but they won't release anything new. Get pony boys into Halo and Gears and when the new games come out you'll have to buy an Xbox or PC.

Coming from the future to inform you... it's NOT going well. They don't have anything single-player currently cooking. They just launched 2 of the 6 live services they planned on (initially it was 12, but they cut the projected number in half because of market saturation). One of them didn't even get to live but 2 weeks before Sony pulled the plug on the servers and issued refunds. Fairgame$ is the next game they plan to release.
They’re not apart of the console wars because imo they’re in their own category because of the handheld and difference in what they’re selling. If they had similar specs and shared more similar titles then maybe they’d be competing. But rn Nintendo is superior in their own thing as ps is in their way. I don't know why people keep bringing up the Nintendo Switch sales numbers like it means anything compared to the PS5 and the Xbox series, when the Nintendo Switch came out in 2016, it's not part of this console race. Of course the Nintendo Switch sold more units, it came out in fucking 2016, that is an insane head start compared to any console that came out in late 2019 - early 2020. That's like using the Xbox 360 against the PS5 and Steam Deck.
Firstly the Nintendo switch has sold over 141 million units making it the 2nd most sold home console under the PS2 only so if you average the sales by the number of years each console has been out you can see that the switch on average the switch has sold 20 million units per year compared to PlayStations 17 million show that Nintendo has made more plus if you also compare the initial sales of the first three years of both the consoles Nintendo would be ahead by a significant margin.

Cheaper games, no payment for online play, not having to buy a whole new system for an improvment in performance. If we go by his own metric, Playstation is dead because the switch is a Juggernaut in units sold. And if you want to go off performance, the PC is better than all of these systems combined.
The only reason I think why Playstation is beating xbox is because of the closing of some of their more recent studios including the one that made hifi rush while Playstation doesn't do that shit they keep the studios that make them money but for xbox they fire and get rid of the studios like trash and the money they make for xbox doesn't matter
playstation treats their studios well, unlike xbox, they're in a cycle of buying small popular studios --> putting their game to gamepass --> closing them.
The entire end goal of what companies like this want is subscription based services. That’s why they’re getting you used to cloud based gaming and paying a monthly fee for PSN. They’re going to phase out physical media all together. You won’t be able to buy games, movies, books, etc. It’ll all be done through some sort of monthly fee based service and only available digitally.
I love the part where sony fans leave out the fact that Nintendo has been winning the console war with the same console since last gen and the Switch is still tracking to beat the PS2 record for lifetime sales.

Yeah, Helldivers 2 is doing really well lately ;ddd I have a weird feeling that the "high ups" have no clue what it means to actually run a "live service" game. And I know they don't have a clue because 95% of ALL "live service" games either die within 1-2 years or are on life support for most of their run. There are very few "live service" games that actually made it and it's REALLY hard to make this kind of games.

Xbox has more power in the console apparently, but PlayStation has more must play titles. So in your screw driver example, you could say “one type of screwdriver is better because I can use it in multiple situations so it’s worth more.” Etc.

It's far from over for Xbox lol. What has Playstation got from Xbox game wise? Sea of Thieves, like almost 10 years later. Don't get me wrong it is the best new IP created within thar time and the way it dominated preorders on the Playstation justifies that. Sony won't be getting any new Xbox exclusives. Maybe they release the Halo collection and the Gears collection, but they won't release anything new. Get pony boys into Halo and Gears and when the new games come out you'll have to buy an Xbox or PC.

Coming from the future to inform you... it's NOT going well. They don't have anything single-player currently cooking. They just launched 2 of the 6 live services they planned on (initially it was 12, but they cut the projected number in half because of market saturation). One of them didn't even get to live but 2 weeks before Sony pulled the plug on the servers and issued refunds. Fairgame$ is the next game they plan to release.

They’re not apart of the console wars because imo they’re in their own category because of the handheld and difference in what they’re selling. If they had similar specs and shared more similar titles then maybe they’d be competing. But rn Nintendo is superior in their own thing as ps is in their way. the Nintendo Switch predates the PS5 by a few years, this leading to it having higher sales purely because of time. FFS the PS2 has more sales than everything after it too, doesn't mean it counts as "outselling" a newer console.

They also each calculate revenues and profits differently.
It’s difficult to do a one-to-one comparison on the two companies.
Sony beats Nintendo in revenue, but Nintendo beats Sony in profit.
They have different business models, and I’m sure that this new move by Sony is sure to change the numbers.
(But in which direction? I can tell you with certainty, I do not prefer live service games)
I don't know why people keep bringing up the Nintendo Switch sales numbers like it means anything compared to the PS5 and the Xbox series, when the Nintendo Switch came out in 2016, it's not part of this console race. Of course the Nintendo Switch sold more units, it came out in fucking 2016, that is an insane head start compared to any console that came out in late 2019 - early 2020. That's like using the Xbox 360 against the PS5 and Steam Deck.

Firstly the Nintendo switch has sold over 141 million units making it the 2nd most sold home console under the PS2 only so if you average the sales by the number of years each console has been out you can see that the switch on average the switch has sold 20 million units per year compared to PlayStations 17 million show that Nintendo has made more plus if you also compare the initial sales of the first three years of both the consoles Nintendo would be ahead by a significant margin.

Cheaper games, no payment for online play, not having to buy a whole new system for an improvment in performance. The basic online plan alone will most likely put the cost of a console the same as an at parity PC. (Edit: spelling)
Why can't they just join forces, call it a play box, and be able to update for new games and be reverse compatible with all past games? I'm sure they can find a way to monetize it and keep the entire fan base

The entire end goal of what companies like this want is subscription based services. That’s why they’re getting you used to cloud based gaming and paying a monthly fee for PSN. They’re going to phase out physical media all together. You won’t be able to buy games, movies, books, etc. It’ll all be done through some sort of monthly fee based service and only available digitally.
They want people to throw their lives away playing video games rather than living a real life with people outside their home.

And I know they don't have a clue because 95% of ALL "live service" games either die within 1-2 years or are on life support for most of their run. There are very few "live service" games that actually made it and it's REALLY hard to make this kind of games.
