You might need to check the amount of viewers for the Pat MacAfee show on ESPN, compared to shows like First Take or other shows that have been on ESPN for years. Oh yea, his viewership is over millions each episode, while First Take and shows like it on ESPN don't get in the millions for the week.

Florida state by the computers had a 97% chance to get in the playoffs based on all the choices made from previous playoffs. Texas had a 58% and alabama had a 42%. They basically threw the rulebook out to make sure an sec team was there.
Not really, that 3 percent just hit. It happens.
The thing is that after the big12 championship game, Texas is now an SEC team for all intents and purposes, so there are again 2 SEC teams in the playoffs.

If the quarterback was a big excuse then the committee should've dropped them the week after their quarterback went down. The only reason they used this excuse is because there was a major threat of an SEC team not making the playoff and waiting until the last week to do so blows their "injured quarterback" argument out of the water. They moved the goalposts simply to get an SEC team in right at the end and everyone knows it.
Okay, take out the injury arguement. They still are 55th in strength of schedule. There's 54 other teams that on paper make a better case for being in the playoffs.

1. Alabama could have just fabricated it and said he was dtd and would be available for the playoffs and the committee would have probably voted the same
2. If the news got out Bama would be out and they would have found a justification for Georgia over FSU

The best point I've seen made so far is that the committee didn't drop Florida down the rankings as soon as the injury occurred or in the following weeks. They maintained their position afterwards and at no point until the final week was it decided that it should affect their ranking. Either they should have dropped down the rankings as soon as the injury happened or not at all. They were no weaker last weekend than they were 2 weeks ago and they've won all games over that period.
Because the CFP committee is separate from the NCAA and any of the rankings they give teams. In fact they aren’t even supposed to pay attention to rankings

This is perfect, totally shows the transition from old school early to mid 2000’s sports talk media vs the new school which is much more unhinged, authentic and faster. Stephen A and Greeney both came in trying to do there shtick they’ve grown so accustomed to over many decades and quickly realized it was too slow and formulaic for the format, expressing themselves very slowly and methodically with an air of superiority. Its just not what ppl want to see anymore. One looks overly produced and contrived, the other is free flowing and genuine. You saw how quickly they came on and sort of subsumed this new style as best they could in the moment but no matter how hard he tries Greeney still sounds like he’s doing ESPN radio with Goldberg. Him and Steven A will bloviate endlessly and honestly you can tell there prob pretty jealous deep down of Pat and the gangs success. Just my take.

The elephant in the room that’s not Alabama. Remember, the ACC, PAC 12 & BIG 10 formed an alliance that blocked the 12 team playoff from forming for another year. It would have been a 12 team playoff this year.

Anybody trying to justify FSU not being in the playoff is being paid to say they shouldn’t be in the playoff they were a undefeated power 5 conference champion (there isn’t much left to argue about after that statement) this has never happen in playoff and it’s all so they can possibly sell the Texas vs Alabama rematch which would make insane money. Also Georgia is better than Texas but the money is in the Texas vs bama game that is why they made this decision
With the main qb being hurt and the backup qb in, they wouldn't stand a chance, they barely beat Louisville.

A side effect nobody is talking about is potentially affecting FSU's recruitment prospects outside of major nil deal players. If you are a good player and have to decide between a school that can lose one game and get in the playoff versus going undefeated on another and still not making the playoffs, would you not choose the other school, everything else being equal?
I guess with the expansion its not as big of a deal as it could be, but just a thought.
There is NO criteria point for being undefeated. To be fair, I'd like to see the criteria that says it has to be only Power 5 conferences considered. If being undefeated was such a huge criteria, then Liberty would be in the discussion...and they are not. Regardless, even IF it was a piece of Criteria, there isn't anything saying we start with X and that is the most important. I'm tired of everyone throwing around undefeated like it is this big thing. Joel Klatt said it last week, when he said that Clemson shouldn't have been in the Top 25 and the fact that they are would influence FSU's strength of schedule and strength of record.

Didn't the Eagles win the SB with a backup and they beat Tom Brady and the Patriots. I am a Mountaineer fan for life but I like FSU. The team and there uniforms and history drawed me in and I was rooting for them and still am. If u replace FSU with Clemson they would be in. The playoff committee needs a paycut because they are always getting it wrong. They cant even make a proper bracket system for college football.

Alabama struggled against south Florida struggle against Auburn lost to Texas and almost lost the sec championship. It has nothing to do about the players it has everything to with the fact Nick saban is the head coach
FSU is a different team without Travis they struggled offensively compared to before and relied on the defense to win them the game they would get smoked by any of the top 4 teams and that will show against Georgia
Secondly they lost to Texas week 2 along with that Bama is one of the best 4 teams along with the other 3 in the playoffs right now if you don’t think so watch Michigan’s reaction to then being number 4 of the power 5 conference champions FSU was the weakest

Yes, for some reason, we still "play down" against our opponents. It's a tradition from when Bowden was coach, when the "gentlemen's agreements" were a thing. Similar to the NBA's "no showboating while up 30".
Yes, we're stressed in the QB department right now. But when are the playoffs? 2-3 weeks away? Plenty of time to get ready.
I remember similar arguments back in 2013, yet that game ended up being one of the best CFB championship games, ever. The last "National Championship" game, SEC vs ACC. #1 vs #2. How do you top that?
You create a playoff system the following year, and hand-pick teams for the "most entertaining" games to watch.

Strength of record may put FSU at #3 but it doesnt take into account the most important factor the committee used. Espns potential ad revenue.
It’s easy. ESPN carries the championship game, and didn’t want to risk FSU making it to get blown out of the water in the 1st quarter and not make ratings goals like last yr. No surprise they “leaned” on the committee.
In order to get blown out, you'd have to score points against the defense. The defense does not have a broken leg.

The country wouldnt lose its mind if teams got a chance to play them, but then lost. The country would say "damn. This might not be a fair system. Maybe SEC needs to be it's own Division" or something like that.
Fortunately there isn't 12 SEC Teams on that level. It's almost always the same top teams in the SEC for the past couple years so maybe, 5 SEC teams will be in it next year

Hell, I could see LSU and definitely Georgia beating Washington or Michigan this year, but I wouldn’t say they should be in. If for some reason it is all SEC, but more teams even have a chance then it is what it is. If SEC is coaching better than every other conference, then the other conferences need to step up. Some of it is a money issue (Michigan is going to have more money than Howard), but a lot of it is about being able to coach kids up.

Correct. The masses want to watch flashy plays, big hits, amazing catches, astounding runs, crushing sacks, etc. Super safe, but dominant run games have gone the way of the dodo bird for a reason. Games with 2 dominant defenses that only allow a score of like 10 to 12 dont feel good to watch when we want to see the best football has to offer.

FSU allowed fewer points against LSU than Bama and beat them by more than Bama. Bama beat Auburn with a miracle. They beat Arkansas by three A&M by one score. Oh and they lost.
