- Mike runs through the rules of Massive Darkness.
The rules must have been updated since this video. At about 27:30, the enemy movement is explained. The priority should be: in LOS with most xp, else out of LOS in a light zone with most xp, else go to starting zone. The video describes it as if the light zone out of LOS has no impact on where the mobs move.

Been waiting for a well produced let's play of this, and I am glad you guys picked it up! Very stoked for this series.
Awesome video! Can't wait for the gameplay video. There is one interpretation of the rules that I think may be incorrect. On page 24 of the Rulebook it states, "Guardians may also use the enchantments from any of the categories they get combat dice from." The next sentence then reminds us of the "3" dice limit per color. I interpret this as, if the enemy is a melee class and draws a sword from the treasure deck that has melee dice, then he can add them (to a Max dice limit of 3 per color) as well as the corresponding enchantment if there is any. If however, the enemy is range combat and picks up the same sword, then the melee dice don't apply and neither does the enchantment attached to the sword. Enchantments can only proc for the intended use (i.e. the combat categories with the dice in them).
Doctor Bandage thanks for pointing that out.
Thanks for clarifying! :)

Where exactly does the word "ONLY" come into the rules? On page 24 it says that guardians can use Combat Equipment. Next paragraph says "Guardians also may use the Enchantments of any Combat categories they get dice from". "ONLY" is not in the rules, nor is the phrase "never any other game effects" outside of their inability to use items and consumables. I wish the rulebook had resolved the example on page 34 with Bjorn and the Orc Enforcers who are equipped with plate armor giving a +1 shield on defense. The example calculates the number of dice each would roll. Unfortunately it doe not continue to determine the number of swords and shields obtained, which would have explicitly demonstrated whether the +1 shield was available to enemies, thus answering the question under discussion.

Thanks Stephen! I have copied this into the description of the video.

Town trade part was incomprehensible.
Boss and Minions. Great vid.
44:-09 A player can turn in an equipment card for HALF the level of the card rounded up. (Thus a level 3 equipment card is worth 2 XP.)
Thank you. I was scratching my head at that part. I replayed it several times thinking he was using "New Math" or something.
Very good video. 👍
Combine dives when one color is not enough?? But i dont think that taking red dices when 4-6 yellow dices are needed is allow.
"Here's Elias, the character who's legally distinct from Gandalf the Grey." LOL
Just found it. Page 35 of the Rulebook at the top confirms enchantment usage.
NICE review. Very good job mate. :)
Focus on next time you review a game and have to show us the counters and cards WITH TEXT and other stuff: DON'T keep it SO CLOSE TO THE CAMERA. Remember the camera has minimum range of focus when close. It gets blurry!!!
About 30 minutes into this, you killed the Orc Boss. How? Isn't the range on magic 1-2? He was at range 0. Shouldn't you have had to teleport out, then attack? Should've taken the longsword for this reason, it would at least give you something to use at range 0 (plus some defense) vs making your main attack a little better with the rod thingie.
Trying to place your accent...where are you from? Helpful video btw!
Thanks William; I'm based in London, but Canadian originally :)
Mike
You keep saying Elias and it makes me think of the character in clerks 2. Which you somehow wound like haha.
what camera are you using amigo? :D
Hi Toño, I'm using GoPro Hero 4s!
does a bam or a diamond count as a hit?
Hey Joseph; bams and diamonds are called "enchantments" and they only have an effect if they can be spent as part of weapon or character abilities.
Mike
What a shocker of a game.
Luckily you rolled high when attacking the orc the second time, but as you were at range 0 and only had a magic weapon (range 1-2), you shouldn't have been able to attack him at all. (You'd have to use your special ability and hope for survival...)
But then again - in a real game you wouldn't play with just one hero...
What country is this?
Great video btw!
Thanks Graydon! We're based in London :)

One thing is REALLY bad in this game. The class sheets. Actual paper, you are expected to write upon. You only get 15 sheets per class... that suuuucks. And the text is rather fuzzy to read on them aswell.
I fully expected a plastic-ish sheet you would write on with markers, that you could easily erase!
It feels so cheap they only sent you a bunch of paper sheets, meaning if you use them the way intended they would run out very quickly.
It will feel very weird putting counters on those sheets when leveling skills... because I will not waste them as intended.
DuraheLL I always just make copies of them so I never have to waste any
DuraheLL I laminated 3 of each class and use wet erase markers.
this video is mediocre … good job
