180 hp is doable with a stock 9a 2L16v (shortblock motor). With the original intake on. I don't like the throttles. Airspeed is a problem..... Just level the playing field. The kjettronic mechanical injection robs you of 10 KW. 225cc fine ionizing injectors,3.7bar ideling fuel pressure, 4.2bar full throttle. 95 unleaded pump fuels. Cyl1&4/2&3 split batch injection. Map/tps/lambda sensors blended.... Modified original intake. Standard golf 3GTI throttle body with tps. and a washable cone air filter. Standard motor. Not opened. Standard 1.8 L 16v gearbox clutch and flywheel and drivetrain 421 branch. 73mm stainless freeflow exhaust.gotech management system.137kw/224nm at coastal level on flywheel. 107kw on wheels. Stock fuel supply system. Don't use the original tp100 VW fireing module, it has an build in rev limiter. (6600rpm). Use the aftermarket tp100. No rev limiter. Most 9a motors rev north of 7200 rpm stock standard.
I'd go the opposite way as my current daily is an Audi allroad (2.0 tfsi). It has been a great ride and 162k miles and it's been very reliable. The sound however....it's not there. My other Audis are all 5 cylinders and I got sound spoiled... In the allroad I'll trade some mods for power over the potential for 'decent' sound. Still, I respect your opinion. The itbs on this sound really nice!
Love Mk2’s, had 4 when I was younger, 2 Drivers, 2 GTI’s. One of my GTI’s had a 2.0 16v in it, gave my mate in his 2.5 Focus ST a run for his money 😁. All about power to weight oldskool style 😎
Definitely need to take it to the higher revs to get the best out of it! It’s got g60 brakes and eibach ARB’s, totally forgot to say that during the video
@@Mk2_benjthe vid description suggests as much- not your claim of course. Mine made 200hp at Stealth. Jenvey DTH bodies, Schrick 268/276 cams, DTA management. Lightened flywheel etc etc. Peak at 7300, holding to limiter at 7800. Definitely power to be found I’d say
@@chrismc1977 sadly not in the realm of being able to claim 200hp(ish) just yet! This made 171hp at Varatechnik, we set the rev limit at 7k to keep it safe, there’s more in it
A low Golf 2 GTI on BBS wheels is something that would always look great 👌

Coolest car you've had on the channel. I'd sacrifice speed for noise anyday 👌😎

I’ve got an abf converted mk2 golf and must say it is a fun bit of kit, good engine for a mk2 golf
Old school goodness still alive and kicking!!👌
Need to actually drive it to get the most out of it!!
What brakes are on it??
Definitely need to take it to the higher revs to get the best out of it!

Proper car.
Noise is just 😍🎶
Better than any modern car with a map and bolt ons all day long
Stunning ride Ben! The joys and laughs say it all! In SA we love the Mk1/Mk2's 🇿🇦👌
Thanks man 🤝🏻
Best GTI or vw ever
I had one that looked almost exactly the same. Loved that car ❤
Owner respect ❤
Perfect combo. Just look at the smiles. 🙂
Beautiful golf.... needs a 276 degree intake cam and 288 degree exhaust cam
The daddy hot hatch always, the ITBs truly sound amazing! Saying that, a R32 swap is always going to sound epic also ✌️
My mk1 nearly ready, 16v engine with twin 45 webbers and a set of 928 polished wheels
Absolutely stunning 👍
Itbs sound sound good
Did he source this as a full kit? At one stage there was a complete jenvey and emerald setup available as a package from one of them
The ITBs came from badger5 and the emerald was supplied and fitted by Varatechnik. It was then tuned by John from emerald
These engines in the mk3 in the racing version had 220 to 260 hp.
They were launched by VW on the road as castrated.
Why the actual f**k would you drive an electric when you got real cars like this 👍
Man, so good!
This engine sound happy
Great car very good
That car needs big bumpers and a standard gti spoiler colour coded then it will be perfect 🥰 ❤ always loved mk2 mk1
Cool car, has to be 3dr for me though. Otherwise perfect 👌
As a former owner of an ITB’d 2L valver it certainly isn’t knocking on 200hp.
Never said it was knocking on the door of 200hp, it made 171hp on the rollers

Here in South Africa are multiple abf swapped Golf's making 200plus hp regularly
@@KingChadKennedyYeah but South Africans are crazy with modding their golfs and similar cars. I should know im one of them 😂
Amplifies the slowness of engine 😬
Not a VW fan but car is awesome 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧👍
Reminds me of my Rs2000 with twin 48's sounds the nuts.
Mk1 mk2 they just have that killer look and after that mk6 mk7 is ok until now
Had a g60 golf got it from Germany would have pissed all over this
Good for you. Didn’t sound as good though
@@Mk2_benj sounded better mate ya ever been in a g60
I had a friend in the 90s who spent way too much money modding a G60 Corrado. it was such a cool car. Fast, beautiful, and sounded amazing.
That's beautiful build for daily driver nice is what do with my cabrio 2001had my Goin 8 years love shifter what size transmission you on Instagram
