Endless play in the canyon, 2nd function stuff is mindbendingly brilliant, instrument in itself - had it three years ad still playing and finding new sfx
Hey Ryan, would you be up to doing a video where you experiment with different pedal chains for psychedelic sounds? I'm a psyche rock guitarist and love videos like this one
Just discovered this channel and this video couldn't have come at a better time for me! I have a couple of recording projects on the go. One needs a Conny Plank krautrock oscillation work out, and the other is a sci-fi concept EP I'm writing. I've been in love with self oscillation since Forbidden planet and the boss dm-2 & dd3 i was using back in the 80's. I've never really thought about the sound palette categories you are describing! And with so much fun!!! At the end where you are stacking them together to show off an extended palette is genius and joined a bunch of synapses in my head. One of the most fun, unexpected laugh out loud vids ive seen on UA-cam!!!
Sitting at work watching vids like this where the aim of the video is just screw around and have a good time, helps my day go by a million times faster.
Thank you for this!!! It’s just what I needed. Surprisingly, the Donner White Tape and Fernweh were my all-time winners here. If you don’t love either, I’d be happy to buy one from you.
I didn't know you were into modding. Great episode you can never have enough delay units. There's not enough pedal demos for knob twiddling noise and sound designers. There's more to music than just guitars, pedals are spreading their wings. Here's a couple of great mods you can add to your prophet. This will spice up most dull delay pedals. Add a button to short out your time knob. Pushing it all the way to slap back metallic. Add another button, this time to repeat, this is to give a boost/hold, you may need to put a resistor in this one, about 25-30% of the pot value, to stop it going into scream territory.
Hi The memory toy can do infinite. There are several trim pots inside.I tweaked the modulation depth on mine also as it sounded too detuned from stock.Theres an instructional video on UA-cam.Love the show and keep on doing what your doing.
Agree. I was about to post that some delay pedals have a dip switch to control the oscillation volume. I think that would be useful in the context of stacking delays for spaceship-o-rama workout like he does at the end of this magnificent video!
Wonderful! More! That hour flew by! 👍👍 Interesting, the Taiwanese version of the dd3 was my forts pedal and I still have it. I'll have to try it out for spaceship noises. Good video!
My fav delay that does the spaceship sound is the Tech21 Boost DLA w/ Tap. It not only bends the pitch while you turn the Rate, it repeats the bending also. It gets super weird and super awesome. Similar to the Canyon.
I was just messing around with the Maestro and turned the rate down via the internal trim pot, not sure I like the mod either way really but the delay sounds fantastic!
The DM2W is perfect for time warping! Stick an expression pedal or OBNE Expression Ramper in and I JUST use it for time warping! I have a DD500 and like 4 other delays on my board. The DOD Rubberneck IS ALSO INSANE for warping and madnessssssss
I love my Canyons! DMM, shimmer, and reverse are my favorites. I will sometimes use the octave delay with the feedback and time all the way down and then hit that into distortion to get a HUGE sound, but since my only dirt pedal is a fuzz, I can only do that with my amp’s distortion, which means I can’t use my reverb…
The DD-3t sounds like it retains the bottom end of the original note, where the original filters it off in normal operation. Neither are my thing really. I love the DM-2W self oscillation. I'm gonna need to grab one. Thanks for the content!
The Prophet's underrated, esp as a glitch/spaceship noise pedal; that otherwise kinda useless subdivision switch becomes a great musical tool. First became aware of its strengths through pedal partners. Plus, it's so darn cheap and charming, moddable, and a great color (with top jacks)
THANK YOU RYAN!!!! My 17 year old daughter thought that because it was Saturday... she could just stay in her bed all day. I called her down for lunch and she yelled, "Leave me alone!" I warned her that she had 1 minute to get downstairs... She did not.. my 700 watt Yamaha amp that is wired into my 4 Pioneer big speakers + this video worked a charm! She came running downstairs and told me to turn the racket off and then asked if this is what we used to get info out of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay! I watched the whole video.. but at a lower level after that... Now I need to deal with my wife who was trying to watch her favorite TV show... I may be on the couch for a week or so.. WORTH IT!
I am ALL ABOUT this Glitch Switch Mod!!!! I am Googling it, as we speak. However, the only few cheaper/throw awayable pedals that I've got left to work with are the two "Analog" Behringers. SO..... Here goes nuffin'!!!! GREAT VIDEO, RY-RY-GUY-GUY!!!!!
This is a super idea for a video, for a super type weekend, by a super love baby of Chris’s Elliot and Yellow Beard. I must say there is a certain SD vibe about this channel.
I could watch this all day 😀 Seriously why can’t all delay pedals do this… Edit: Dear Editing Ryan, Yes. Yes this is a freaking fantastic video! 🤪 Yes, I made it to the end! Quality vid. My advice: keep ALL those delays and that crazy fuzz/oscillator and put them on every board and use them at every gig. 😀
All analogue ones can, but they tend to be a bit tame on the other feature front. I posted a few simple mods for those pedals in a comment I just added. They help to spice them up a bit. There's a good mod for the Behringer vintage delay, just open up and use a screw driver. A more advanced version is to add a switch. Search it on UA-cam.
Do any of these go into crazy oscillation territory without also spiking the volume, or is that just inevitable? I have an EchoBrain which LOVES to make spaceship noises, but you do have to be very mindful to roll back the mix knob as it gets nuts or bye bye hearing.
I am pretty sure, the tones you are getting from the M.O.T.H is a heterodyne beating effect between a time based clipping in the pedal and notes played
FOund a budget "Delay" on Amazon that has actually a special switch to make it produce "Spaceship sounds" : "Aural Dream Breath Delay Digital Delay Pedal" ... 🙂
I'll check that one out. Those enclosures are roomy. Should be ripe for modding. If it's the same circuit as the Behringer vintage delay, there's a simple mod on a youtube vid. There's some others I just posts in an earlier comment.
Can anyone touch on that digital decay sound? You know what I'm taking about? When you push digital equipment, most noticeable in digital delays when they decay to a point where they sound metallic and... digital. Seems like every digital reverb or delay I've tried has that sound to it and it's driving me nuts. I can't afford vintage reverbs.
If you see a Morley electro-static delay for sale and want space ship noises, thats the one. I've amused myself for an hour w just that, a lo-fi mike and a Flanger.
bummer that the rubberneck wasn't in here, i have one that totally kicks ass but i get it's hard to do everything. that said for people seeking further spaceship noise possibilities, the dod rubberneck and the eqd sea machine both do some very very cool shit.
Ask me how and why i watched the whole thing, gladly......Im from Akron home of Earthquaker. Would have loved to see a couple of them. I loved the last "jam" also!!!!!
If you got the money to pluck down, try the Hologram Microcosm if you haven't tried it already and/or own one. I'm knew to your channel, so I don't know if you've featured it. (Yes, I'm too lazy to go search if you did. 😄) I enjoyed the video, nothing like playing with a bunch of pedals to get some cool trippy sounds.
Lol the only thing that’s important about delays. I have tried most this way. The korg mini dimension delay synth dimension. Is by far the best. 60 bucks. Next would be the digitech timebender with different harmonic repeats and the boss dm2w which goes nuts
Finally a decent delay test, giving us the important info we really need
17:40 is perhaps the most persuasive demo of the Canyon that I've ever seen. What a fun circuit!
Subscribe to my channel. Its half assed for now, but the studio will be done soon. I focus on the Heavy and Weird!
I'd like to hear that also

The song you're thinking of is probably the outro of Karma Police by Radiohead.
Ah! I think that’s it.
Sitting at work watching vids like this where the aim of the video is just screw around and have a good time, helps my day go by a million times faster.
17:40 has me in absolute awe
@ 44:22 you ask "Isnt there a song that starts with that noise?"......Karma Police by Radiohead ENDS with that noise exactly.....
I'm a bassist, and when I play guitar my primary goal is to make it sound like a spaceship. This was very helpful
Wow great video those space sounds put me out had a good sleep
Thank you for this!!! It’s just what I needed. Surprisingly, the Donner White Tape and Fernweh were my all-time winners here. If you don’t love either, I’d be happy to buy one from you.

In my old band, our bass player had a canyon and he'd ramp it up during a certain song and get it to"Moo" like that.
The Fernweh was amazing. I thought the delays would be serial but they were parallel and it was amazing.
The ending reminded me of Pink Floyd in Pompeii. Excellent video, greetings from Argentina.
This is what I'm here for. Loved it.
I got my first analog delay at age 18 back in 1989. Discovering self-oscillation was a real treat. Lol My mom hated that pedal.
We will sit here and enjoy chiptune “Two Princes” for that hour, sir.
This is why I love your videos because you have enjoyable and unique ideas like this for videos. I love this!
Hi The memory toy can do infinite. There are several trim pots inside.I tweaked the modulation depth on mine also as it sounded too detuned from stock.Theres an instructional video on UA-cam.Love the show and keep on doing what your doing.

I love my canyon, it does it all and is a lot of bang for your buck!
Cheers for the great videos! I’ve decided on my delay pedal now 🤘🤘 thanks for the space battle testing 😂
If that was seriously your band clip at the beginning, I'm all in!
It seriously is
Thanks for my daily dose of morning coffee and pedal therapy. Fun sounds and good vibes brother🎸💥🎉
Hey Editing Ryan, it was a freakin' EPIC video. Who needs a synthesizer when you have those five beauties all lined-up...
Wonderful! More! That hour flew by! 👍👍
Interesting, the Taiwanese version of the dd3 was my forts pedal and I still have it. I'll have to try it out for spaceship noises. Good video!
If a delay doesn't do space-ship sounds it's not worth buying!
Right on!
Excellent drone metal at the end
My fav delay that does the spaceship sound is the Tech21 Boost DLA w/ Tap. It not only bends the pitch while you turn the Rate, it repeats the bending also. It gets super weird and super awesome. Similar to the Canyon.
Listening to Ryan make space noises for that long of time and hearing a human voice afterwards was the weirdest feeling ever.
@Mr. Tibbs-‼You said it ‼
Only problem I had was-- I COULD’T HEAR ANYTHING-‼‼ Have a good weekend & let your ears get back to normal-😮‼
I was just messing around with the Maestro and turned the rate down via the internal trim pot, not sure I like the mod either way really but the delay sounds fantastic!
i like the dd3t, that one actually sounds like a rocket blasting off
The DM2W is perfect for time warping! Stick an expression pedal or OBNE Expression Ramper in and I JUST use it for time warping! I have a DD500 and like 4 other delays on my board. The DOD Rubberneck IS ALSO INSANE for warping and madnessssssss
Great video! The canyon was my favorite of the bunch, it's got some serious spaceship vibes
Do this video again with the affordaboard delays
I love my Canyons! DMM, shimmer, and reverse are my favorites.
I will sometimes use the octave delay with the feedback and time all the way down and then hit that into distortion to get a HUGE sound, but since my only dirt pedal is a fuzz, I can only do that with my amp’s distortion, which means I can’t use my reverb…
Ps: those pedals- Super Weirdo and Fernweh are all you need to do sound effects for a RETRO SPACE MOVIE!
The video we did not know that we needed:)
OBNE bl-series is gonna get so good this year I can feel it
This is GREAT!!
Love Delays 🔥😍🔥😍🔥
awww you probably heard my mind!!! its been 2 weeks now that im thinking whats the best delay pedal for spaceship noise…thanks
My vote goes to the Way Huge Echo-Puss in terms of spaceship sounds...but it's a matter of personal preference, of course.
This was dope! Please do it again with more delays!!!
This is the video I needed.
the canyon started sounding like r2d2
Great Video, not everyone need be a product demo !
The DD-3t sounds like it retains the bottom end of the original note, where the original filters it off in normal operation. Neither are my thing really. I love the DM-2W self oscillation. I'm gonna need to grab one. Thanks for the content!
Absolutely hilarious sounds! Love it!
You could definitely play basement shows in most college towns with those five pedals you use at the end.
This is not a good video. This is a GREAT video.
thats the video i was looking for. Perfect for the end of gigs :D
This video really disturbed my cats. Thats how you know youre making good spaceship noises...
GREAT VIDEO, RY-RY-GUY-GUY!!!!!
I have an old video on that glitch mod, all i really did was connect a momentary foot switch as a jumper between settings on the time division switch.
My favorites are Dod Rubberneck delay and EHX Deluxe Memory Man (big box reissue)
OH MY GOD!! I need to see the rest of that Surf Band clip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man out here asking the real question
I waited until Monday morning to watch this video to delay my gratification.
This is a super idea for a video, for a super type weekend, by a super love baby of Chris’s Elliot and Yellow Beard. I must say there is a certain SD vibe about this channel.
How about the eqd afterneath or the way huge atriedes? These can be incredibly wild pedals.
Could anyone please tell the song name at 0:54 ? Or at least the band name.
I want that Teisco so freaking bad man.
I could watch this all day 😀
Seriously why can’t all delay pedals do this…
Edit: Dear Editing Ryan,
Yes. Yes this is a freaking fantastic video! 🤪
Yes, I made it to the end! Quality vid. My advice: keep ALL those delays and that crazy fuzz/oscillator and put them on every board and use them at every gig. 😀

Ibanez Analog is king at this.
If yoko Ono was a guitar these are the noises she'd make
I am pretty sure, the tones you are getting from the M.O.T.H is a heterodyne beating effect between a time based clipping in the pedal and notes played
FOund a budget "Delay" on Amazon that has actually a special switch to make it produce "Spaceship sounds" : "Aural Dream Breath Delay Digital Delay Pedal" ... 🙂
TC Electronics Echo Brain make good spaceship noises. For the budget conscious.
I'll check that one out. Those enclosures are roomy. Should be ripe for modding. If it's the same circuit as the Behringer vintage delay, there's a simple mod on a youtube vid. There's some others I just posts in an earlier comment.
Best delay I ever had for spaceship oscillation sounds was the malekko lofi ekko. I kick myself all the time for trading it off
Can anyone touch on that digital decay sound? You know what I'm taking about? that said for people seeking further spaceship noise possibilities, the dod rubberneck and the eqd sea machine both do some very very cool shit.
i remember the Tc echo brain to be a great affordable delay for spaceship noises?
I'm a big fan of "all pedals on" sounds
The Canyon is such a multi headed hydra I was speechless once I explored it 🌛
Ask me how and why i watched the whole thing, gladly......Im from Akron home of Earthquaker. Would have loved to see a couple of them. I loved the last "jam" also!!!!!
the maestro sounds like an alien
I think I like the Canyon and the Super Weirdo the most.
The Joyo Digital Delay has a massive warp drive sound
1 hour of 2 Princetons theme, please.
If you got the money to pluck down, try the Hologram Microcosm if you haven't tried it already and/or own one. I'm knew to your channel, so I don't know if you've featured it. (Yes, I'm too lazy to go search if you did. 😄)
I enjoyed the video, nothing like playing with a bunch of pedals to get some cool trippy sounds.
i love spaceship noises
There are so many weird spaceship sounds in this video that the Air Force just reopened Project Blue Book!
I wish the DM-2w had better volume control. For live use, man it get's WAY to loud.
Yes
To think I was wasting my time listening to my cds when I could have been listening to this. Just kidding. It's good to have fun and enjoy yourself.
Finished it!
The fun begins 52:50
Got this on Shroom day! Heaven.
If you could only pick one........ what would your choice be?
Yaaaas
Carbon Copy still the King!
Lol the only thing that’s important about delays. I have tried most this way. The korg mini dimension delay synth dimension. Is by far the best. 60 bucks. Next would be the digitech timebender with different harmonic repeats and the boss dm2w which goes nuts
Trying to look this up. Do you mean the Korg Monotron Delay synth?
Does it space?
Too cool 😎!!!
Super bitchin' sounds! Hard to tell ...the Canyon was pretty impressive..got some R2D2 sounds there...! Great stuff?
Si this a good video?...my wife shout,NOOOO!!!!🤣🤣🤣
