      Hi there,
      Hope the video was helpful, however I`d recommend downloading a copy of the manual especially if you intend to use a dedicated flashgun.
      Best wishes and happy shooting

      No problem and hope it helps. This camera really is a bridge between analogue and digital. it has many feature you would expect of a modern DSLR and you can indeed get a digital back for it. Hope you get you Leica soon.

      @@paulhill3575 I know what you mean about the hinge, I have a motor drive on my R8 and it does make it that much nicer to use.

    Nice camera, however I think I'll stick with Nikon's F6. The F6 can utilize high speed sync with it's speedlight flashes all the way up to 1/8000s.

    • @paulhill3575
      @paulhill3575  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Teng, the Nikon f6 is a much newer camera and has many features of a DSLR. My Canon 5D mark 3 synchronizes at these crazy speeds as well, on the other hand my Nikon F3 is only 1\60. just shows how things have advanced in a relatively short time.
      Whatever you shoot with enjoy every moment, the fun is in learning as many techniques as you can and using them.
      Happy snapping

    Does the film advance lever work without film?
    My lever wont advance at all and I’ve tried with and without batteries. Only thing I haven’t tried was with inserting film but I’d hate to waste a roll just to test if the lever works with it- thanks!

    • @paulhill3575
      @paulhill3575  Рік тому

      Hi crazymetdude.
      You should indeed be able to use that advance lever. As an indication that the lever is wound on the viewfinder info panel lights up and stays on for several seconds when the shutter button is pressed. If the info panel goes out when you release pressure on the shutter button and you can't advance you have an advance lever problem, if the lever is already advanced you may have a shutter/ shutter button problem. Sounds like you have a sick camera. I know that Leica UK doesn't support these cameras now. Good luck and I hope you can get a good outcome.
      Best wishes

    It's interesting I never even noticed the position of that right hand strap lug, I don't have giant hands either. I wouldn't call it 'comfortable' either, it's not an easy chair, but more like a winter glove. Do I want to wear a glove if I don't have to (ie, when I'm not shooting) of course not!

    Just FYI, you get high speed sychronization with the R8 in combination with the Leica SF-58 flash. I know because I have them both, and when you set the flash in TTL and the camera in P, you get the flash synch speed at 1/250.

    • @paulhill3575
      @paulhill3575  3 роки тому

      Hi Francisco, While you are correct in stating that both the R8 and R9 have a normal synch speed of 1/250, in bright conditions, i.e. outside the SF58 and the R9 allow shutter speeds over 1/250. hence HSS. Check it out, HSS is available by using the menu on the SF58.
      Hope this is useful as synchro sun it now possible using larger apertures.
      Best wishes

      @@paulhill3575 Thanks! I ordered an R9 (it's coming all the way from Germany) and I'll play with it as well. For now, I think I'm going to load my R8 and figure out the use of the SF-58 better.

    The ROM lenses are insanely expensive even by Leica standards.

      Hi GeoS
      you`re not wrong. Even the 3 cam lenses are expensive. Down to the ROM lenses being compatible with digital I guess. I`d love a 24mm but can`t justify the outlay....maybe one Christmas.

    Its a lovely camera, but I have to admit the commentary is putting me to sleep, you sound like a knowledgeable Leica technophobe but you sound like you got a cold or something. Couldnt you clear your airways a bit, and inject a bit more pizzaz and energy in the demo?

      Hi Pulsonar
      I go for information not pazzaz. As for my voice, I'm a Brummie. We all talk like that.

      @@paulhill3575 You delivered the information, so job done. It’s got nothing to do with the Brum accent, my nerdy cousins in Handsworth have stronger accents than you and can hold a captive audience about some dry elementary principle in a dog-eared physics book. I could listen to Noddy Holder, Ozzy and many other native Brum or Black Country personalities for hours. It’s more about the lack of passion and energy, especially for one of the unsung heroes in the Leica back catalogue. I didn’t expect cartwheels and American style presentation exuberance. But to me you came across like a govt information film narrator from the 1970s, but that’s just me. There are many much worse on YT, and I probably present no better than you, but doesn’t prevent me from speaking my mind and giving some hopefully positive critique.
