I'm saddened to read in a facebook group about flamenco guitar that Ben Woods passed away due to cancer few days ago... I lost due to this illness my grandma, her sister, my (almost) first classical guitar teacher and now the guitar world and Ben's family loses one very tallented and influential person and musician... All the best to your soul in the other world, dear Ben...

Rainbow in the dark sounds so perfect its almost like DIO covered the original flamenco version.
I heard dio didn't really like rainbow in the dark because it was too much pop like. Hard to confirm tho now :/

I miss some Helloween, and other Metallica stuff because Nuthin'ElseMatters is not really the best 'metal' tune of them.
Also miss some Guns n Roses, as the CD jacket clearly refers to their logo.
And highly miss some Motörhead pieces.

There were two guitarists on stage! And the two had their guitar plugged into a distortion pedal. And Matt Sorum did lpay on a double bass drums. And he and Axl did have a bandana in their hair.
Isn't this sufficient proofs, my friend ? please tell me you're joking, and confirm me I actually was listening to this real metal band in my youth, not like that random FM sweeties like Bon Jovi or Kiss
+General Ackbar ....No it really isn't. None of the things mentioned are inherent or exclusive to metal music and Bandana's aren't even metal, you're just as likely to find a gang member wearing one as someone listening to biker rock (which is mostly bluesy rather than metal in the first place.)
Bon Jovi and Kiss are far closer to metal than Guns'n Roses or ACDC. Ironically both Kiss and Bon Jovi even have a more 'metal' aesthetic than the other aforementioned...both bands look like just about any 80s metal band whether they be playing Thrash and Speed metal or Death metal and Doom metal. The problem isn't that ACDC and Guns's Roses aren't 'hard' enough to be metal...it's that their music is VERY DATED AND PRIMITIVE, they're playing late 60s rock music.
Ben Woods is definitely one of my favorite guitarists!

I think the part that hit the deepest is when the astonishing renditions, that were following the vocals for most guitar solos, actually PULLED OFF a Flamenco version of Randy Rhoads guitar solo! Nice!

Anyway this album is awsome. I love metal music, I really like acoustic, traditionnal, ... musics from the others cultures, and this mix of two genres is in a sens a form of perfection. That's a good way to make a tribute to all these bands and artists, creating a new piece of music that works by itself.

Ben... this is a truly awesome recording & a totally fresh guitar approach that is phenomenal !!! I do a similar thing with da Blues that I call Blues Gypsy where I integrate Blues with Flamenco & other gypsy guitar styles & while I am working on recording my own CDs - 'having discovered this master's pieces, I now have a grrreat soundtrack to inspire me while I mix my creations = MAHALO NUI LOA !!!

For an eventual next record I would suggest: ABIGAIL of King Diamond, POWERSLAVE of Iron Maiden, and TO LIVE IS TO DIE of Metallica. Some suggested the great TORNADO OF SOULS of Megadeth, but I'm not sure that its flamenco cover would work...

I just started learning ukulele and was introduced to rasgueos through the monthly challenge songs on rockclass101. I saw two impressive uke players use the technique among others and found Ben through Cordoba's video of Holy Wars from this album. This is amazing good work guys! I'm making an effort to learn some flamenco.

+Ivan Quitl Cierto. Las puse en el carro con mi pareja, que odia el Metal pues le parece el sonido de los infiernos. No le dije nada y ella comentó que era una música muy linda, que no había escuchado algo así nunca.
Total cuando le comenté de dónde venían esas melodías... no lo podía creer, ella - como muchas personas - son sesgadas y les dicen Metal y de inmediato les parece ruido satánico, pero aceptó que es una música bonita y elaborada... algo es algo.
Asi es amigo la música en un instrumento acustico es natural y hermoso el problema es que aveces con tanto sonidos electronicos pierden la verdadera esencia pero que bueno que le gusto a tu pareja quiere decir que en el fondo tiene buen gusto 👍
