    I don't believe in getting close to the family till there's a ring on my finger and I'm walking down the aisle. In my opinion, going over the family home frequently, making their home your home, and not leaving a mystery is a recipe for disaster. It's better to keep it nice and simple, meet the parents briefly, send in a 'hi and bye' here and there. As you mentioned Tony, the man may love me but specific family members may not agree.

      I have seen cases when "meeting the family" was used to trap the woman into staying for a long time (even marrying) a guy they thought it was not the one.

      If the family ain’t sh*t I would like to know upfront before even marrying the guy because once you get married you’re marrying his family too idk I’m 21 maybe I might change my mind one day

    I met my boyfriend's parents Sunday at the eight-month mark, and we hit it off. So many people emphasize “when are you meeting them? Why wait so long” I’m glad we waited. Everything turned out great, plus my parents love him too. I love it

    These days men introduce all the women they date to the family instead of only the serious relationships. Don't think women should take it for more than what it is...just meeting the family.

      @Karma Consciousness Truth!
      My ex introduced other women to his family while we were in a relationship and after we'd broken up...just to play them. We're African and introducing a man/woman to your family was a serious matter. Not any more
      In retrospect, it reminded me that mothers are loyal to their children, esp moms to their sons. His mom didn't owe me anything to alert me of her son's ways.

      I'm so grateful to God that my mom did not took into consideration the color of the skin of my dad but decided on the character and values he was presenting to her. My mom is white and my dad is medium-dark skin Puerto Rican Indian. Every single color will have that what is desirable and what's not and what has value and what has no value in a person. But I also understand your point Tony that it would be very difficult for you if you cannot take that person as is and feel comfortable because not everybody will do so. Now my handsome medium-dark skin father is a very frail 87-year old which I gladly and proudly currently take care of. Thank you Mom for loving dad beyond the color of the skin of his skin until "death do you part". Again I understand your point Tony that not to everybody is comfortable to be engaging with another race and that beautiful black young women want to also enjoy having a good black man. Just want to tell my story because I come from a mixed marriage.

    If a man doesn't introduce you to his family within 3 months or don't do it when there's opportunity for it like holidays then it's a NO.
    If he introduces it's still no guarantee, so keep your guard up.

    Ohhhh Tony this convo was sooooo overdue!!! A few things I’ll touch on “women in the way” and how both Mom/Sis just don’t want him involved because they benefit from his singleness. Race, I prefer black men and although I can attempt to understand the cultural aspect of [Granny] I pray that a kingdom love intercept my future marriage- not in any attempt to erase what can’t be erased but at the same time I’ll never marry where I’m not the standard of my mans beauty//desire. But most importantly, I was in revelation as I listened to this…
    You went from organized Pimp [no or lil regard for women/objectifying] to now using your entire life to teach us- this can only be Jesus. A Saul to Paul transformation!!! It’s beautiful!! I thank you, for this message. It’s needed, insightful and practical. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

      I hear you but it is odd that you say you’ll never marry a man whom you’re not his standard of beauty. Men have a desire for women and usually for their own race due to proximity and culture. If you’re dating a black man who only prefers white women and that’s their “standard of beauty”, you’re going to have a lot of issues in that relationship. Also, grannies discrimination (that’s what it is) has nothing to do with how beautiful you are and the man should be making it known that you are the one he loves. Again, none of this has to do with his standard of beauty. Black men who date white women still have an affinity for black women, just an FYI.

    • @LifeCoachLi
      @LifeCoachLi 3 роки тому +3

      @@ebonymahogany4682 I appreciate your opinion. It’s not odd to me at all, what wife desires to be a second option or desire when it comes to physicality? Tony gave a great example, white women were his only option, it was a settling. My point is, I won’t settle…play second fiddle to any other woman for any reason. So, I say that to say-- kingdom men have an ability that “most” [were using absolutes here that perhaps are unfair] don’t, it’s to love first the soul of a woman, making skin color take a seat!! That’s the exception I’ll wait for. I’ve had this exact convo with many black men [friends] I’m in Chicago so things run a bit different up here, I’m aware that proximity makes an impression. But appreciate your perspective 👍🏽

      Based off the way you jumped on my comment to tell me “what I couldn’t have” giving your opinion but clearly not in any way that shows consideration for me/my point of view and then choosing to only address my preferences in black men-imma say you obviously feel some sort of way. I’ll leave you with this- I love, love!!! My skin attractiveness is to dark skin [not only black men] I don’t only dare black men, not that it’s your business anyway. I serve Christ in life, and love- He is the standard I’ll wait on- and yes I will have what’s mine- chocolate and fine!!! I’m still wondering why you care… I’m not dating your brother sis??? 🤔🙏🏽

    I dated a guy who had a sister who told him that I was using him until I went of to school in TX. He told me his sister/aunts/mom never been loved by a man and knew nothing of it. Some how he still let them get in his ear and convince him that I was a user, unfit, and God knows what else. Even his gay brother. He ate up everything they said sadly. We had only been dating for a few months...It’s crazy, my intuition kept telling me that they didn’t really care about him and they wanted him to be miserable just like they were.

    Meeting the family can be used as a trap to keep the woman much longer in a relationship that would have otherwise been short. A girl who was studying with me meet the guy's family two weeks after she meet the guy. His sister and mom acted like she was part of the family. They started posting pictures of her on social media letting others know that she and the guy were together even when that was not yet the case. She ended up living with the guy for four years, financially supporting herself and him because he " couldn't find a job". Turns out his mom wanted to pass his weight to another woman.The girl wanted to leave very early but just because she met the family, she felt guilty to just leave. Another girl I know ended up meeting the family within the first week. The guy had three children from two different women and was searching for someone to share his bills with. His parents also acted very much taken by the girl and pressured her into marrying the guy within 6 months. She got divorced less than one year after the marriage.

    True words right here Tony. I'll likt to think that if the relationship is right ain't nobody gonna be worried about meeting who. Meeting either girls parents or boys parents is like validation required whereas for a relationship to work it takes You, your partner and God. When you both choose you whenever you meet the parents y'all will blend in and their blessings will come through because God has already approved too. For me, we working us and our relationship. Developing in the dark until we ready to let parents from both ends meet us.

I found out from social media that he had multiple women at his moms house & introducing to family & our child. Him & his family took beach vacations with his lady, while I was home raising our child, thinking he was at work. His family doesn't respect me, but neither does he. It is interesting what people value and if we want to break unhealthy patterns. I expected his family to love me as a mother, but it feels more like hate

If they were decent people, they would never treat you like this because they would put themselves in your position and ask themselves how they would feel if they were in your position OR more importantly, how they would feel if their daughter was treated that way.
      My feedback: Don't let anyone disrespect you and set limits for what's allowed with your child. Otherwise, your child will also get the message loud and clear that his mother is not worthy of respect. And that will affect how he feels about himself later on.
      This is unacceptable

    You have to have family around to vet out potential partners for marriage, but that doesn’t mean he’ll always pick them over you. If a man doesn’t take you to meet his family then you probably don’t mean to much to him, or he’s embarrassed by his family you just never know. In my case I’m a loner, but parents are in different places, they can meet my siblings. I’m with the man, only what he thinks matters. I didn’t care to much about my ex’s family I was just about me and him.

      If he doesn't introduce you to family (and he's in good terms with family) then you definitely worh less than horse shit to him. If he does introduce you to his family it still might mean nothing.
      Check on Gabby Petito's case. She was engaged and living together with her fiancé at his parents house, they went on a road trip and he killed. Came back home and parents hired a lawyer and helped him escape and hide.
      The guy killed his wife to be, she lived with his family and ended up killed. Neither him or his parents give a rat's ass about her or her life.
      That's how dramatic things can be. A narcissist will definitely take you to his family, his family will work as his enables and you are in hell.
      Nowadays "actions speak louder than words" doesn't help so much because many men know how to act and might use actions if words are not enough. The only thing you can trust is your gut feeling, if at any time, any situation you feel your gut uncomfortable there's definitely sth there. It's not your anxiety, you are not overthinking and you are not crazy.

    Good advice some guys take some things serious.
    Some men take the woman back home to meet parents and not take it that serious you gotta kinda see how he is or acts and see if this serious thing or just to impress his family and him.
    This is in all honestly one the best videos on meeting family or parents looked at 3 so far until found yours.

    Hi Tony I am in a relationship with a upcoming relationship counselor, I have a very different past I've been hurt multiple times and I'm a recovering woman scorned. I trust my man I truly do as I was rolling down the street in my car I was thanking God for my man because I know he has given me the utmost respect he has not stepped out on me and he's a good dude. Recently he told me that he's having a video conversation with a friend to talk about relationships and present time I thank him for telling me but does it mean that I have to agree with it? Or should I just let it go and let him do his work?
