  • All the top teams in football and soccer use overloads in some way shape or form. In the ‪@premierleague‬ we seem top teams like ‪@mancity‬ and ‪@chelseafc‬ use them very often and in different ways. Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel are two examples of teams that use overloads in advanced spaces between the lines. These are two managers who are great examples for these tactics because they often play against teams that attack low blocks.
of course this is not just the case for teams in the premier league, but teams all across Europe. ‪@bundesliga‬ ‪@LaLiga‬ ‪@seriea‬ ‪@Ligue1‬ and more are all league where you find overloads with teams using this tactic to affect their opponents and create superiority.

Just came to say I coach a first division women's team in Brazil and I based the offensive phase of my team on those principles after watching some of your videos and after studying deeper Guardiola's build up. I have some trouble keeping the full backs inwards on the construction sector and the wide midfielders as wide as possible on the last third pressing the opponents full backs because they are naturally oriented to doing the opposite. But on those times they follow it properly it's amazing - we find holes on the opponents defensive block just by triangulating and attacking the opened spaces. It's beautiful!

I already had the idea of exploring the half spaces beforehand, but not many practical options, but studying your videos gave me a few good ideas. Thanks and keep up the good work!

@@SantaMadre also, short passes would dramatically help. Listening to Jonathan Giraldez the X Barcelona feminine coach who had a hand in developing Spain national team players who played for Barcelona coaches for the NWSL Washington Spirit now. He is implementing all of this starting now he’s only had two full games in charge and he’s one by conceding one goal in each of his two games in charge and scoring seven against the opponent. The last opponent was ranked second in the NWSL. KC current I believe Debina plays for them. If you wanna watch any of those matches type in the search bar women’s football full matches. It should have a little circle with a black and white W. That has all the matches.
What he said he was implementing was overloading positional style play, Tiki, Taka, and playing with possession as a style of playing defense. He did say this will take a while to implement. I’m assuming probably a year but I’m excited. He has young American women on every line of that team and he will be the one developing them.
Also, interestingly enough, Emma Hayes, the US women’s national team head coach draw the most players from two NWSL teams. Washington Spirit in Gotham, FC, and both have Spaniard coaches. So that tells you all you need to know. That last game with Brazil and the United States at the Olympics I’d like to get your thoughts on that. I appreciate the way Brazil came out in that first half. I just thought it was stupid. They didn’t come and sit in a 442 compact defense in the second half. They still kept it with a 325.
