Totally agree LinkedIn is an underrated social media platform! What puzzles me is that while X/Twitter are filled with trolls and toxic content (and it seems to keep getting worse), LinkedIn has managed to maintain a much more supportive, uplifting, and inclusive "vibe" (for lack of a better word).. I assume this is because there is less anonymity on LinkedIn and an underlying assumption that people on there are trying to "look good" to perspective employers. Still, I wonder if their algorithm and/or content moderation policies also play a big role here .. X seems to promote controversial/polarizing content while LinkedIn seems to promote content that people react very positively to (e.g. a promotion at work).
I agree - I think it's a combination of verified accounts, professional stigma of trolling, and their algorithm promoting positive/congratulatory posts. With more "social/viral" posts getting promoted now, however, I'm seeing more spicy conversations and engagement on those posts, so it might be starting to head down the path of X (or NextDoor - which is tied to address and identity yet people tend to have outsized opinions about their neighborhoods and social/community issues).
Haha! Bertrand here. 👋 These things are not mutually exclusive. My largest social account is on X. I run ads on several platforms for my newsletter. I post content across X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads. Stephanie posts primarily on LinkedIn.
I love this video ❤❤

What you said above is right but Linkedin does not have much "mindless-scrollers-with-credit card-in-hand" kind of people.
