Hey Danilo I am the new caretaker of blue thunder. I’ve taken it on a few adventures already through on Lovesick Lake and Burleigh Falls. I’m planning a trip up to Algonquin next season with my son.Your enthusiasm and spirit are contagious so keep the adventurous content .Cheers Nick
Hey Danilo! Been missing you man! Nice to see ep.19 finally here. Congrats on the new canoe! That sweet baby is going to take you and the rest of us on some really cool adventures! Loved that second campsite! The shot of you on the rocks watching the sunset was fantastic! As a fellow solo canoeist in my younger years I was wishing that was me there to experience the beauty of that moment. Anyway, looking forward to seeing you soon on the next adventure! Stay fun!
That was surreal indeed!!…and contrary to the first night when I had a party next to my campsite, the afternoon and evening night on Burnt Island lake was super peaceful. Pretty cool!
Hi Danilo, boy did I enjoy this video! I just came back today from off-roading with my Jeep & camping but you've done what I want to do, perhaps next year: purchase a canoe, mount in on my Jeep & head up to Algonquin on a solo portage camping trip! I smiled when you did because I know I would feel the same as you! I'm so happy to see how happy you were! Wishing you many more happy experiences with your "game changer" canoe. Wish me luck 😊
@@juliechristine377 it’s been quite pleasant without it actually. The trip to the Barron Canyon in May also got a little chilly, but doable. But yeah…I think October-May is definitely a must have. 😁
Congrats on the new canoe! Keep in mind bag position is important for travelling in wind. Not a big deal in calm conditions but if you’re going into the wind you want more weight in the front and with a tail wind more weight in the back.
Thanks! She appreciates it! 🤣🤣 The canoe is awesome. Best purchase of 2023 for sure! I went with this one because I thought it gave me the best combination of durability, weight and cost. It’s not the lightest “solo” boat out there, but it’s not that bad either at around 40lbs. For the price I think it serves me well for my solo trips.
I find it astounding how parallel my adventures have been to yours - I've done 2 of your previous trips already (one before you did yours, and the other I was inspired by your video to go do the serpentine loop at KHPP), and I was literally mapping out a route starting from Canoe Lake just last week, and here you are already out there and loving it! :) Not only that, I started with a kayak as well and just last week put my deposit down for a custom built Swift Cruiser 15.8. By the way, how much does your Esquif weigh? Looks like you were able to handle it portaging without an issue, so it must be light enough. Thanks again for sharing your adventure!
That’s awesome!! I had a look at the Swift pack boats as well, but had to start smaller from a budget perspective. The Esquif I got is 40lbs. It’s not the lightest, but I’m able to single-carry the boat and gear without any issues. I’ve come up with a fairly minimalist setup as far as gear goes, so that helps. Where are you off to next?!…I’m heading to Algonquin Rain Lake!
40 lbs is a great weight, I'd be happy with that as well. I'm quite intrigued by your minimalist gear (your satchel and how you're able to hang it up for access is just aces!) - maybe one day you can to a full gear breakdown of all your items! My trips are all done for the year, but next year I have 2 routes I'll be doing for sure - a loop starting at Smoke Lake going south, and a slight variation of the Donald Lake Loop up in Temagami. Can't wait to see your adventure to Rain Lake now! :)
@@northern_wilderness_adventurer I’ve gone through a few variations on the essentials bag, but now I think I’ve finally settled on a good kit. Good idea for a video when the season quiets down a bit… 😁
Thanks! After the trip I tried looking it up and found some info on Pine Martens, but yeah…still wasn’t 100% because I not all of the pictures online looked like what I saw. I didn’t even think about looking up weasels!
Great way to break in the new canoe - thanks for sharing looked like a great trip! Be safe - “Let the good times roll” 🎣🛶🔥🪓

Rock on Nick! Thanks man…I’m so happy to hear you’re keeping the legend of Blue Thunder alive!! 😁 🤘🏼
Great video, glad your loving your new canoe
Thanks!! It’s going to open so many possibilities!!
Great video, keep going.😍
Thanks! That’s the plan…every time I get a chance! 😁

Thanks! That's awesome! If the opportunity presents itself, go for it! But even if you don't have a canoe yet, pick one up for the weekend and go!! 😁
I can't believe you don't use an underquilt in the hammock. No wonder you're so cold!
Haha. The under-quilt is coming for colder trips, but I thought I could still swing this September trip without it. 😁
I came here to mention the same thing. Need an underquilt to protect that cold but syndrome
I use a under quilt every time
@@danilointhewoods September in Algonquin in a hammock without an underquilt? Never. I would use one all year, even in summer.

Pretty sure that was a weasel, not a pine martin. Seemed a bit dark...
