Another great outing! Glad to see you've really nailed down your kit, probably one of the more precise and light kits I've ever seen carried - I definitely carry more weight, so I still have a lot to work out / trim down in my personal kit.
Looking forward to a bunch more adventures in 2024! Cheers, Danilo!

Thanks! Yeah…I’ve trimmed here and there since I’ve started this journey back in 2020, always with the intent to carry the least amount as possible, within reason. It’s not an ultralight kit, but I try to keep it simple. My luxury items are my camera gear, and that’s it.
Not being a foodie, and not being into fishing helps a lot too. All that stuff adds up!

Great one man, you're an animal single carrying what I roughly calculated as 90-100lbs - (Esquif 47lbs with paddles mounts lines etc - Dry bag kit 30-35lbs - food barrel 10-12lbs and electronics 5-6lbs) I was in the central park (Canoe/Burnt/Sunbeam/TomTomp) the 23-28th I can see by your moon shots you were up there later that week as well. Yupp all the leaves were gone but it was mild for being so close to Nov. Re the 1300/1470 port from BigRock to Kingscote, the park sign is measuring the distance from BigRock to the fork (that goes up to Lower Minnow lk) You then ad the distance of 170 from the fork to Kingscote to get the total 1470. I like seeing your Garmin watch altitude charts, seeing the inclines and declines. Cheers man and its only two months till spring!

Haha - one of these days I should weigh everything to get an accurate reading, but your calculation is on probably on the spot.
I figured that was the case regarding the portage, but still doesn’t answer the question…why don’t they fix it?! Even better…the park could introduce an initiative to give away free nights in exchange for portage sign maintenance! I’d go… 😁

Danilo strikes again! This post took me pleasantly by surprise! Wasn’t expecting another Danilo camping video this late in the season! Nice trip buddy! Your camping skills have increased exponentially since the paddle board days! You take care and a belated Happy New Year to you and Stephanie!

The hunting camp and that hunting is allowed there makes my itchy.
After moving from the gta to Muskoka open up so much more opportunities.
      Saw any wildlife....wolfs?

@useryggfdcc I was spooked at first but had a conversation with some people online and it’s all good…hunting and camping have coexisted there for a long time, and the good news is…camping season slows down when the different hunting seasons begin, so there’s not that much overlap. Still…if I go there again around the same area I’ll be wearing an orange beanie instead!

Even an orange vest is a good idea. A buddy and me went hunting near Bala and with our hunting cloth on a timber wolf walked less then 3 meters past my buddy not even seeing him sitting on a rock. I was calling deer and the wolf was sniffing the air.
We did several experiments and its shocking how well the hunting clothes can make us invisible.
Definitely hunting orange during hunting season.

Good job! I've stayed at the campsite you pointed out on Byers Lk. It's a nice one! The lake has brook trout in it.

      @danilointhewoods  8 місяців тому

Good stuff. I watched a video of a young couple that also stayed there, and I debated doing two campsites with a stay there on Byers on the first night, but ended up sticking to the two nights on Scorch. Maybe next time….
I need to learn to fish, but frankly, don’t think it’s my thing. I’ll eat it if someone catches it though! 😁

Are you Canadian or Hispanic? Either way, you are a joy to watch even though you don't equal out your hold on your paddle.

Thanks, I’ll have to review some tape! 😁 The kayak-style paddle is definitely my favourite and for this canoe, I’ll most likely always chose it over the otter-tail paddle. I’m not giving up on the single-blade paddle just yet, but it will be the backup for sure.
