You don't even need to extend the stock one if your keeping the rear sprocket same as stock but pedaling these bikes is literally ridiculously stupid hard and makes zero sense. I feel like with the smaller sprocket in the rear it would work better but only if your intention is to ride it strictly like a pedal assist bike otherwise you need to use a bigger sprocket. Strangely his Surron seems to have a different motor then mines I'm not sure if that's due to his being much older or what not
This is necessary in most states for it to fall under the 'bicycle' laws as it needs to have the ability to operate (not necessarily well) under human power. The economy switch should then be set to 750w and 20mph. So, you can flip the switch after you get stopped by the cops to be 'legal' and not get your bike confiscated. The problem with this 'kit' though is now the motor is running 1:1 which makes it no better than any other hub motor.
until they make e-bikes that look more like dirt bikes and with more power i will support sur-ron bikes and other e-bike/moto bikes they look far better and perfom fairly well to lame e-bikes that companies are making, yes i understand the laws but some laws are really dumb i doubt its for the protection of the customer or public. if someone can design a e-bike with a pedal system and a motor on frame style bike with dirt bike fendors and wheels im down
ok, I was wondering about the whole sprocket change thing, like they're bumping down sprocket size by a CRAZY amount, how is that optimal when most people are upgrading to larger than stock to get more gains in torque. I wonder though if the kit can be installed with the stock sprocket?
If the bike would have some kind of gears added (Nuvinci 171 or rohloff speedhub) (should withstand 5000w, but input torque limit problem) and a freewheel added to the motor, would the position of the seat and the pedals allow a comfort ride for a 1.80m tall driver or is really that uncomfortable to ride? Has anyone tried a different mounting position of a diy pedal kit and also maybe with torque sensing pedals and a cycle analyst to simulate the throttle on the bike? Greetings from Austria
the pedal systen should be designed to work with the standard sprocket, motor plus pedal assist to get it going then full motor power. again this is just for the shitty cops to show its a pedal bike and motorized bike
The reason why it doesn't work with the standard is because the free wheel would need to be bigger than the for it to have the same ratio and there def isn't enough room under the bike for a free wheel that big. Not to mention it would put your chain closer to the ground.
I'm having a hell of a time trying to get my pedal kit installed on my bike. I sure wish this tutorial was better. There are zero clear views of what the rotor system looks like when it's correctly attached.
This kit is really a piece of shit. Just mount the bracket for the the pedals so it looks like you are peddling but really doing nothing. That way you don't have to change anything.

I agree that it's better just to mount the pedals and not have it functioning but I think some states might require them to actually work

@@rawvisions7592No, I got another axel and put it through the footpeg hole with some sleeves on the inside so it can't move side to side and pedals on the outside and it works great

I would just install the foot kit pedal system. No sprocket or anything else. Just so it looks like I am peddling but it's doing nothing!

You can actually get both just buy a stealth bike. it combines the ability to pedal & power.
I just wish it would come down in price.

With that small rear sprocket it wont have any low end power. Keep the larger sprocket and add some chain length.
Not sure about the gear ratios for both the motor and pedalling
