  • It took me over 20 minutes to assemble just one side. The engineer that designed those plastic covers must be the devil 👿
I didn't have the time to edit this video so just skip forward whenever you want.

The tabs need to be inserted 180 degrees to how you did them. So the slope matches the curve of the piece, and the little notches face outwards towards the meta earcup holder.
I just opened one side, forgot which way, then checked the other side to confirm.
Also if anyone found they got slimey/waxey from the velvet finish going off, I just cleaned these with pure alcohol and a toothbrush, which works fine. You do loose the markings though.

Very helpful, I figured something wasn't right when I still had a gap on the lower part of the cover.

Thanks for pointing it out, I've figured out that something wasn't correct, when I saw a gap between the two plastic pieces.
In fact I had mounted it like in the video.

That is what I thought - I am replacing headband and earcushions, and putting the plastic side covers back is driving me crazy. When I think i got the small plastic tabs correctly seated so i can actually put the two plastic parts together nicely - then I can't properly place the plastic slider on the metal piece - it just doesn't fit right, its kinda sideways. When it fits nicely - then i can't close the plastic parts nicely - there is a little gap. Whoever designed this didn't want people to fix this by themsleves obviously. Terrible design. Won't be buying these again even though I am happy with the sound, just for this very reason. And I got two more heafphones to fix like this...(not sure how terrible are other designs though :D)

    Been here, did that too.
You put those bullsh** plastic parts upside-down. This tiny dongle should go to the bottom, while curves aligns with the chassis.
If swapped it still do its job, but it's way harder to assemble the cover.
TBH - the design of these covers is absolute dogsh**. It cracks over time, you have to glue it, and it's hell to assemble it back. Clearly designed to make it un-repairable.

To anyone who opened their headset, only for these two little pieces of shit to pop out, and then watched this guy fumble around for 20 minutes, most of it off-camera.
The correct way they need to go in:
Sloped edge toward the inside of the headset (screw side of the plastic cover) and following the slope of the plastic piece. The little plastic lip needs to point toward the ear cup and rest in the gap for the headband going towards the ear cup. I recommend first putting the plastic pieces in the covers and testing to make sure the covers go together perfectly with no force required before proceeding to fit it to the headband to ensure you have them oriented correctly. It's easy to break the plastic covers if you try to force it together or tighten the screws when it's not properly assembled.
