I wish we had an official name to call these three things. Battle techniques? Gimmicks? I would be happy even if there was some cliché term for them like "Gamebreakers" or something like that😅
I think the most fitting term is ‘battle accessory’ however I’ve heard battle mechanic and gimmick being used (possibly by yourself) which I feel are fine. I briefly considered ‘Battle tool’ and ‘Battle upgrade’ which don’t really have that ring to it. I don’t mind ‘Battle booster’ but still prefer some others.
While Ash having to fight two mega evolutions is a little repetitive, it does make sense. It's not like any trainers outside of Alola even know how to use Z-moves. It's kind of like exclusively Ash's thing in this tournament which is symbolic as the Alolan champion.

I JUST realized...they actually gave Ash the most difficult route thru the Masters 8 tournament. In the Quarter Finals, Ash is battling the Number 3 Trainer, Steven. In the Semi-finals, Ash is battling the Number 2 Trainer, Cynthia. Lastly in the Finals... Ash will battle Leon, who is Ranked Number 1.
Steven isn't that hard for ash to deal with But Cynthia had balding for her whole life before dialga/palkia crap. So it's gonna be stupidly difficult for ash to deal with her. It's either he changes his strategy or do one turn kill move
Its a little weird why Leon is number one because he isn't the number 1 hardest champion of all the games, but I guess it makes sense, since he is the latest champion, or at least he was.
I think if Ash plays his cards right. he can throw them off balance with Gigantamaxing, Z moves, or Mega Evolution. If he know they will expect him to use a particular form, he can mix it up.
If Ash is truly going to become number one in the world, he needs to do it with pikachu. They’ve been working towards the same goal together for 25 years. I don’t care who his ‘ace’ is this series, pikachu deserves the win. If he loses on the other hand, I want it to be lucario. Lucario has literally never lost, (except his tie with luxray) so he better lose at some point, and if his only loss is to Leon, I think that would be pretty solid anyway.
It is interesting to me how Lucario's trajectory is very similar to Ash-Greninja in a way, like it had picked up losses previously but since it's perfected its new form it's been basically invincible, yet I still think it's totally possible for Lucario to lose in the finals, just like what happened with Greninja in XY
And if the Finals were to allow all types of Special Gimmick, I can possibly see Ash dealing with a Gigantamax Charizard Early play by Leon that Knocks Out Lucario by making the Surprise choice of bringing out _Ash-Greninja_ to take down the 'Zard as a Redemption for XYZ's Finale! ...And then narrowly clinching the Championship with Pikachu's 10-Million-Volt Thunderbolt!
Also note that it's not like Leon's only going to stick with G-Max as his Only Gimmick Ability in this Match-Up: he's likely travelled around to prepare for these other Gimmicks, and picked up a couple of them specifically for the Masters 8 Finals! I'm kinda predicting G-Max Charizard, Rillaboom with Z-Power Bloom Doom, and Mega Blastoise to round them out! But that's exactly _why_ I predict Ash'll use Greninja - it's a Gimmick like nothing any Trainer has faced before, exclusively for Ash's usage. If he wants to get the drop on Leon, that would be the best way to do it! The return of Ash-Greninja in a Finals Match against another Charizard is also something too good to pass up - especially if Ash and Greninja have perfected their Battle Bond to defeat Leon's Ace Pokémon!
I personally don't understand why "in universe" the one gimmick per battle rule applies. All three mechanics are big deals that trainers need to train to master. It's hard work to utilize the gimmicks well. As such, using all three in one match really demonstrates the strength of the trainer and the pokemon
I suppose my answer to that "in universe" would be that there's more to Pokémon, strength, and battles than just the gimmicks. Like, for instance, these battles right now are 3v3. So if trainers could use all the gimmicks, wouldn't the entire battle just be the gimmicks? Like imagine Ash vs Steven, Ash could use Mega Lucario, defeat one or two of Steven's Pokémon, switch to Gengar, Gigantamax it, get it down to where Steven is holding on with his last Pokémon, and then finish it off with 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. Sure, Ash had to work hard to be able to pull off all three gimmicks, but having them take up the entire battle just takes away from things like tactics and growing a Pokémon's strengths. It's not the strongest answer, your question is totally valid, but I also like that the rule is in place. It would seem weird for trainers in the Ultra Class who have jobs like Gym Leaders, just get bowled over by someone spamming their gimmicks against them.
Your argument is kinda valid but all 3 gimmics in 3v3 battles would be pretty boring ngl If the battles were 6v6 i would surely love them using all 3 I personally dont get why they doing journeys so dirty like i understand they wanna get over with journeys soon for gen 9 but it deserved 6v6 battles they are so much more fun and interesting to watch , they could have easily had 6v6 battles in the masters 8 tournament .
Pikachu using GMax is... not optimal. Pikachu never really mastered it unlike its Z-Move. Not to mention, the intro clips showed a Mega Lucario with GMax Aura Sphere vs GMax Charizard. Still, we're not sure if that will indeed be the final clash between Leon and Ash.
Vs Steven: I’ve got Ash to use a Z-move. I reckon we might get a cameo appearance from Max, Norman, Wallace and/or Serena (she’s in Hoenn) watching the battle on tv; we already know Oak, Tracey and the fire types (and Krookodile) will be watching. Plus, I do wonder what Ash’s third Pokemon will be… Against Cynthia, I’ve got Ash to use Mega evolution. Mega Garchomp vs Mega Lucario would be explosive! However now you mention it, could we get a surprise like Dynamax Dragonite/Dracovish!? Would be interesting. I reckon we could see one or more of: Paul, Regi, Dawn, Flint and/or Volkner watching the battle on TV. Vs Leon: Gigantamax. Hopefully the battle will be upgraded to 6 vs 6. If Leon’s team is same as the one in the games (Aegislash, Dragapult, Haxorus, Rhyperior, Rillaboom and Charizard) then Gmax Gengar could prove vital when going up against Aegislash (amazing defence), Dragapult (incredibly fast) and Haxorus (very powerful). I’ve got potentially one or more of: Raihan, Bea, Korrina, Alola gang, Ash’s mum, Oak and Serena all the watching the battle on tv. As I’m sure you can tell, definitely looking forward to the battles and cameo appearances.
I do wonder with the Fire types at Oak's Lab watching what is most likely Ash vs Steven, if that is telegraphing that it will be Gigantamax Gengar's time to shine...
If Pikachu uses 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt in the battle against Steven Stone then there's a chance that G-Max Pikachu can make the final round against Leon and either Mega Lucario or G-Max Gengar have sung their swan song!!
I would love for Ash to use all three of his gimmicks against Leon. But then, they should give Leon three, or al least two, gimmicks as well. Maybe he can gigantamax two members of his team, and Ash has to use all three gimmicks to fight it. Something similar to what they did with Kukui and Tapu Koko. But if not, then the z move is definitely the best option here.
10 million volt thunderbolt is a ash exclusive thing. no one can't anticipate it. It's a one hit K. O. Move. This Is a Decisive advantage ash currently has over other participants.

As long as Ash uses his older Pokémon and beats Steven I’ll be happy. Using his Journey’s team exclusively doesn’t make sense since it’s limiting him. Even using the Aloha team would make more sense since it’s his Champion team
Now keep in mind anything can happen but yeah the writers will absolutely have Ash battle Steven, Cynthia and Leon in the Masters 8 but as for the Gimmicks anything can happen there's a chance a gimmick doesn't decide the battle we already learned that lesson from Ash's battle against Raihan because the final battle was Lucario Vs G-Max Duraludon and G-Max Gengar had to take out 2 of Raihan's Pokemon before it fainted so no matter what the gimmick is it won't always decide the match and I think the semi-finals is gonna prove it once Ash Vs Cynthia becomes official I think this will be Dragonite Vs Mega Garchomp in the final battle of that match no matter what gimmick Ash uses in that battle!!
Now that would be interesting for it to come down to Dragonite vs Mega Garchomp, because if Ash uses Mega Lucario then I can't see it fainting unless it's from Leon's Charizard!

It would be cool that all 3 gimmicks are used for the final battle. (We have seen Z glove being activated twice when the rule is Zi-O is only used once [Alola] We only seen LEON used gigantamax, but who says, he can't used the other 2 gimmicks as well.
Perhaps in the final fight. And it was stated at the start of the M8 Tournament that the participants can only use one gimmick at a time. Then again, Ash can bypass that rule coz of... Aura Bond Phenomenon. 😛
He will most likely use each of them for his each battle.... most likely Gigantamax against Steven, Mega or Z-Move Against Cynthia... and last one against Leon
He's probably going to use all three, isn't he? He has three gimmicks. He's got three opportunities, so he'll probably use all three. I'm not sure which one he's going to use in which battle, but my guess is that all three are going to be utilized somewhere. (Also, I think Ash will beat Steven and Cynthia for sure.) I wouldn't mind Pikachu being the one to defeat Leon's Charizard, that would make sense. It would be similar to the Pikachu v Tapu Koko, though Tapu Koko just seemed interested in fighting Pikachu in general for some reason. The thing I would despise, though, is G-Max Pikachu being the one to do it. If Pikachu tries to beat G-Max Charizard with his G-Max form, I'd call fowl. He never uses that thing, and he sucked at it so badly. The anime blew its chance to have Pikachu work on his G-Max, I would not have G-Max Pikachu be the one beating that Charizard.
I don't think Pikachu can defeat Leon's Charizard unless ash used another Z move that almost smashed tapu Koko away or one shot kills hariyama But Gengar or Lucario might be able to defeat it

I’m hoping that against Steven he uses his journeys team: then it might be revealed that just like in the sinnoh league, his team is tired and that makes Ash bring his reserves like charizard sceptile against Cynthia. Then we can get the journeys team for Leon
I just imagine Leon’s Charizard has both blaze & solar power & says he has a very rare Charizard & when ash vs G Max Charizard, it activates drought & it uses sunny day for its solar power ability & that fact that it boost fire type moves & then uses G Max Wildfire.
I'd love to see Dracovish,Dragonite and Sirfetch'd use Z-moves!!!! Probably not as a finishing move but potentially to get head to head with a stronger pokemon/tackle a type disadvantage?
The issue is that I don't think any of those three know a type of move that Ash has a Z-Crystal for? His Grass and Rock type Z-Crystals are pretty useless right now lol, I wish he had the Fighting and Dragon type ones!

Honestly, I think the openings vs Leon might be accurate. Like against Alain. Ash used Pikachu against alain's charizard but still lost. The opening 3 showed normal charizard vs normal pikachu. And opening 4 showed GIGANTIMAXED charizard vs Mega Lucario.

I think something might happen before ash vs leon if it happens, I think it will be interrupted the same way we see it interrupted in sword in shield. remember chairman rose is still not caught and hasn't made a resurgence and it would be perfect for him to crash the world coronation right before ash fights leon and theres gonna be some kind of super threat to deal with. like eternatus is down for the count so it could either be some kind of dynamax raid or could be that chairman rose steals eternatus' pokeball and breaks it which could release eternatus a second time and then the masters 8 have to take care of it like both the battle of kalos in XYZ and the guzzlord invasion in sun and moon. It would probably give poor alain and steven some PTSD from the giant rock zygarde but it would be a nice callback to those types of events. Either way I still wanna see this become a reality before the final battle
I have 3 theories if the intro is true. 1) Pikachu will fight Leon's fifth Pokemon (granted Pikachu also appear in some of the 1st 4 Leon's pokemon) & unfortunately draws with Leon's fifth Pokemon. Then Mega Lucario vs G-max Charizard is are clash. 2) Mega Lucario vs G-max Charizard is the second last battle but unfortunately Mega Mutation still lost & Ash only has one Pokemon left, Pikachu to fight Charizard. 3) Mega Lucario vs G-max Charizard is the second last Pokemon for both players & took each other out. Then the final battle will be Pikachu vs (my guess Rillaboom).
These are for Ash vs Leon 6v6 3) very very highly unlikely 2) & 3) highly unlikely unless multiple gimmicks are used (I would just prefer 2 gimmicks, can be repeated gimmick, are allowed compared to all 3 allowed, can be repeated gimmick.)
Well if Ash is allowed to use all three then I'm assuming that Leon would also be able to use all three, granted so far Ash is the only who seems to be able to use Z-moves, but maybe Leon can use Gmax/Dmax twice and then mega evolves his Charizard for example.

Well, it's the writers fault for marketing Leon as the unbeatable champ. And if such is the case, it's only reasonable that Ash uses all 3 (plus Aura Bond Phenomenon). And knowing Leon, he wants a good challenge. He did take down Mega Charizard X (despite the somewhat lackluster quality of the fight). At that state, Ash would have already realized the strengths and weaknesses of his gimmicks. Hence, he will have to be smart when and to which Pokemon he needs to use any of his gimmicks if he wants to increase his chances of beating Leon. Coz at the end of the day, I want Leon to fall.

Haha I like the idea of Leon taking out a Z-Ring out of nowhere and saying "after I saw Ash use one of these, I had to go do some training in Alola!" But, I feel like they would set up the fact that Leon could use all three, not just drop it on us right before the final. We will have to wait and see!

If sir fetched gets a kill on one of Cynthia's pokemon, I wouldn't believe it. He's not Ash's worst Pokemon at all but his performance in the tournament so far has been lack of luster. He's definitely the corefish of the generation.hit and Miss
I could see Ash opening with Gengar, Dragonite or Lucario in the final round and having trouble getting his footing after one of his main powerhouses on his team faints to Rillaboom or Dragapult, let’s say Gengar, one of the remaining ones or Pikachu itself comes out for the revenge kill, ties it up but has to retreat so switches out after the KO and there’s some solid back and forth with probably Dracovish or Sir getting a KO but not both of them then we get back into it, episode 2 probably with 4 v 3. I’d personally like it to be Dragonite the Kanto/Original Pseudo Legendary and Ash’s first catch in Journeys, Lucario his powerhouse in Journeys and the first Pokémon in aWHILE Pikachu has been actively jealous of and of course Pikachu who is his original Pokémon and seemingly his only way to utilize Z-moves so far in the series. I’d like to see Dragonite tie or get an outright KO, Lucario then take out whoever knocked out Dragonite if they are still standing and then score a KO on its own and therefore it be Lucario who takes Leon all the way down to Charizard so we get the mega evolution giant aura sphere fake-out from the promo but with Charizard KO’ing Lucario before Ash can fully activate his keystone or Luc can charge a big ball rasengan. Then Pikachu vs Charizard and either a tie or Pikachu wins but barely.

Unfortunately, I think the only ones he can use right now (besides 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt) with the Z-Crystals he has right now would be Corkscrew Crash with Pikachu or Lucario, and then whatever Z-Move comes from Will-O-Wisp. Or he could use his Normalium Z on either Quick Attack for Pikachu or Double Team for Lucario. Not a lot of great options unfortunately...
In the trailer for pokemon journeys episode 118 if you zoomed in you could see both ash and steven were down to 1 pokemon each steven had his mega metagross as his last pokemon and ash had his pikachu as his last pokemon so gengar could not defeat metagross

The way to ash beating them is I'd he uses his strongest. Ones that should make a return are charizard, snorlax sceptile or use his bulbasaur, greninja, infernape, lucario. Charizard has the best chance at beating Cynthia's garchomp due to it knows dragon type moves and they're not effective on him. Greninja also would be apart of it.
Leon charizard vs Ash greninja will be absolute block buster If writers do this ,it would avenge ash greninja against alain by proxy Trust me they might have been planning this
Ash can easily use his Infernape to burn Steven’s metal type pokemon. Ash should use Greninja for Cynthia. It will inflict super effective damage against garchomp and her ground type pokemon. Ash should use his Charizard, Lucario, and Pikachu against Leon.
if it was 3 then you could do , Ash-Greninja lucario, and pikachu or if it was 6 he could do mega lucario, ash greninja, gengar, dragonite, pikachu, and goodra.
I mean he is gonna win for sure. But if he didn't - I kinda wish he would lose to Cynthia so she could beat Leon's butt. Like, if we had this whole build up for Leon to win again - I would just scream. But I mean - personally they didn't disappoint me yet for this tournament, especially with how fun Lance vs Diantha was.

Hear me out: Round 1 - 1 Gimmick, Round 2 - 2 Gimmicks, Round 3 - 3 Gimmicks. Have Lance pull a fast one and have a Z move as well as a dynamax to showcase how Leon tanks all of these attacks without a problem. Then, when the finales arrive, Ash using all three feels more like a strategy than a deus ex machia. Also, imagine if round 2, Cynthia mega evolves Garchomp and uses Koamo-o with a Z-Move. Super exciting, right?
@@EliteTrainerMark I would respectfully disagree with Diantha wiping-off Lance. Similar to the games, Diantha's team is mostly trash despite the diversity. Mega Gardevoir is the only one that is really a threat but knowing Lance, he has an answer to Fairy types (ex. Iron Head, Steel Wing). Also, Aurorus has horrible stat distribution despite being 4x effective vs Dragonite. Not to mention, Dragonite is much faster than Aurorus. And Im sure a Steel move can wipe out Aurorus easily. While an argument like "game logic doesnt apply to anime" is reasonable, it still does apply in some cases. It's too early to predict anything but Im certain Lance is no pushover.
Simple way: use his old Pokémon for fucks sake.It’s the masters 8, he’s going against literal champions who lets face it are the real deal as opposed to Ash’s easy win in Alola where the league was full of complete noobs and only battled one or two decent trainer.Use his charizard, his sceptile, his Infernape, his gible, his krookodile, etc.Every other champion is gonna be using their best, their long time ones, their aces.If Ash just uses his galar team composing a weak sirfetched, a gengar who barely wins any matches, a lucario who Ash’s Greninja easily thrashed, a dragonite who’s strong but will be very predictable to his opponents, his dracovish and his pikachu he’s gonna loose.He should be taking it seriously, he should utilise his roster of Pokémon, if he wants to beat Cynthia or Leon, he needs his aces, the ones who are his best not because of all the gimmicks used.Ash’s infernape is a complete beast who took down half of Pauls team and who’s blaze is so powerful it makes him super sayan like.His charizard took down Gary’s team, a Articuno, and is just a complete powerhouse.His Krookodile is his best Unova Pokémon, who took down Iris’s dragonite and has a amazing move set.His sceptile took down a darkrai and is extremely strong and fast.His snorlax is a complete unit, it knows a crap ton of moves and has some extremely good battles won.
You're paying attention to all of the bad things about the Journeys team. Sirfectch'd won against Mega Altaria, Lucario has too much wins to explain, like when he 1 shotted Gmax Duraludon, or defeated Gmax Machamp, Dragonite has been losing recently, but won against Haxours, Gengar defeated Gmax Grimmsnarl, Flygon, and Goodra, and Dracovish defeated Noivern. Yes, he should use old Pokemon but this is Journeys time to shine. You're making it seem that Ash is gonna lose. He has plot armor.

You should make a what if video discussing other trainers that could have been in the masters 8. I would like to see 8 trainers thats arent already champions of their respective regions. So Ash and Alan would still be good and Leon since its kind of been a thing throughout this season. But who would the other 5 be? Tobias with his Darkrai comes to mind. Also, surprise blast from the past, Richie from the indigo league. They could've done so much better and had some really cool characters return for this tournament.
Honestly I would like to see pikachu defeat gmax chazard using 1m volt cause ash winning the tournament with pikachu is what I want to see considering these 2 partners have been together for 25 or 26 years and might be the last time we see ash cause I kept seeing those theory that this may be his last so winning it with pikachu would make more sense
My only hope for these matches is that his victories feel earned. I don't know about everyone else but to me a few of his big victories just felt so unsatisfying and more plot armory than usual. Honestly from what I've seen of Ash's battles in journey's so far, I can't even picture a scenario in which he actually beats his upcoming opponents. But we will see how things go down.

If ur not convinced ashes Dragonite uses dragon dance, hurricane, Dragon claw and draco meteor in his match against raihan but next episode Dragonite uses hyper beam against Paul garchomp (I think I dont remember)
Ash's Dragonite has not attempted to use Hyper Beam since JN Episode 65, because in that episode it presumably forgot Hyper Beam in place of learning Draco Meteor

I think the most fitting term is ‘battle accessory’ however I’ve heard battle mechanic and gimmick being used (possibly by yourself) which I feel are fine. I briefly considered ‘Battle tool’ and ‘Battle upgrade’ which don’t really have that ring to it. I don’t mind ‘Battle booster’ but still prefer some others.

While Ash having to fight two mega evolutions is a little repetitive, it does make sense. It's not like any trainers outside of Alola even know how to use Z-moves. It's kind of like exclusively Ash's thing in this tournament which is symbolic as the Alolan champion.

I JUST realized...they actually gave Ash the most difficult route thru the Masters 8 tournament. In the Quarter Finals, Ash is battling the Number 3 Trainer, Steven. In the Semi-finals, Ash is battling the Number 2 Trainer, Cynthia. Lastly in the Finals... Ash will battle Leon, who is Ranked Number 1.
Steven isn't that hard for ash to deal with

I think if Ash plays his cards right. he can throw them off balance with Gigantamaxing, Z moves, or Mega Evolution. If he know they will expect him to use a particular form, he can mix it up.

If Ash is truly going to become number one in the world, he needs to do it with pikachu. They’ve been working towards the same goal together for 25 years. I don’t care who his ‘ace’ is this series, pikachu deserves the win. If he loses on the other hand, I want it to be lucario. Lucario has literally never lost, (except his tie with luxray) so he better lose at some point, and if his only loss is to Leon, I think that would be pretty solid anyway.
It is interesting to me how Lucario's trajectory is very similar to Ash-Greninja in a way, like it had picked up losses previously but since it's perfected its new form it's been basically invincible, yet I still think it's totally possible for Lucario to lose in the finals, just like what happened with Greninja in XY
And if the Finals were to allow all types of Special Gimmick, I can possibly see Ash dealing with a Gigantamax Charizard Early play by Leon that Knocks Out Lucario by making the Surprise choice of bringing out _Ash-Greninja_ to take down the 'Zard as a Redemption for XYZ's Finale!
...And then narrowly clinching the Championship with Pikachu's 10-Million-Volt Thunderbolt!
Also note that it's not like Leon's only going to stick with G-Max as his Only Gimmick Ability in this Match-Up: he's likely travelled around to prepare for these other Gimmicks, and picked up a couple of them specifically for the Masters 8 Finals!
I'm kinda predicting G-Max Charizard, Rillaboom with Z-Power Bloom Doom, and Mega Blastoise to round them out!
But that's exactly _why_ I predict Ash'll use Greninja - it's a Gimmick like nothing any Trainer has faced before, exclusively for Ash's usage. If he wants to get the drop on Leon, that would be the best way to do it! The return of Ash-Greninja in a Finals Match against another Charizard is also something too good to pass up - especially if Ash and Greninja have perfected their Battle Bond to defeat Leon's Ace Pokémon!

I personally don't understand why "in universe" the one gimmick per battle rule applies. All three mechanics are big deals that trainers need to train to master. It's hard work to utilize the gimmicks well. As such, using all three in one match really demonstrates the strength of the trainer and the pokemon
I suppose my answer to that "in universe" would be that there's more to Pokémon, strength, and battles than just the gimmicks. Like, for instance, these battles right now are 3v3. So if trainers could use all the gimmicks, wouldn't the entire battle just be the gimmicks? Like imagine Ash vs Steven, Ash could use Mega Lucario, defeat one or two of Steven's Pokémon, switch to Gengar, Gigantamax it, get it down to where Steven is holding on with his last Pokémon, and then finish it off with 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. Sure, Ash had to work hard to be able to pull off all three gimmicks, but having them take up the entire battle just takes away from things like tactics and growing a Pokémon's strengths.
It's not the strongest answer, your question is totally valid, but I also like that the rule is in place. It would seem weird for trainers in the Ultra Class who have jobs like Gym Leaders, just get bowled over by someone spamming their gimmicks against them.

Pikachu using GMax is... not optimal. Pikachu never really mastered it unlike its Z-Move. Not to mention, the intro clips showed a Mega Lucario with GMax Aura Sphere vs GMax Charizard.

Against Cynthia, I’ve got Ash to use Mega evolution. Mega Garchomp vs Mega Lucario would be explosive! However now you mention it, could we get a surprise like Dynamax Dragonite/Dracovish!? Would be interesting. I reckon we could see one or more of: Paul, Regi, Dawn, Flint and/or Volkner watching the battle on TV.
Vs Leon: Gigantamax. Hopefully the battle will be upgraded to 6 vs 6. If Leon’s team is same as the one in the games (Aegislash, Dragapult, Haxorus, Rhyperior, Rillaboom and Charizard) then Gmax Gengar could prove vital when going up against Aegislash (amazing defence), Dragapult (incredibly fast) and Haxorus (very powerful). I’ve got potentially one or more of: Raihan, Bea, Korrina, Alola gang, Ash’s mum, Oak and Serena all the watching the battle on tv.
As I’m sure you can tell, definitely looking forward to the battles and cameo appearances.

I would love for Ash to use all three of his gimmicks against Leon. But then, they should give Leon three, or al least two, gimmicks as well. Maybe he can gigantamax two members of his team, and Ash has to use all three gimmicks to fight it. Something similar to what they did with Kukui and Tapu Koko. But if not, then the z move is definitely the best option here.
10 million volt thunderbolt is a ash exclusive thing. no one can't anticipate it. It's a one hit K. O. Move. This Is a Decisive advantage ash currently has over other participants.

I wouldn't mind Pikachu being the one to defeat Leon's Charizard, that would make sense. It would be similar to the Pikachu v Tapu Koko, though Tapu Koko just seemed interested in fighting Pikachu in general for some reason. The thing I would despise, though, is G-Max Pikachu being the one to do it. If Pikachu tries to beat G-Max Charizard with his G-Max form, I'd call fowl. He never uses that thing, and he sucked at it so badly. The anime blew its chance to have Pikachu work on his G-Max, I would not have G-Max Pikachu be the one beating that Charizard.

Honestly, I think the openings vs Leon might be accurate. Like against Alain. Ash used Pikachu against alain's charizard but still lost. The opening 3 showed normal charizard vs normal pikachu. And opening 4 showed GIGANTIMAXED charizard vs Mega Lucario.

I think something might happen before ash vs leon if it happens, I think it will be interrupted the same way we see it interrupted in sword in shield. remember chairman rose is still not caught and hasn't made a resurgence and it would be perfect for him to crash the world coronation right before ash fights leon and theres gonna be some kind of super threat to deal with. like eternatus is down for the count so it could either be some kind of dynamax raid or could be that chairman rose steals eternatus' pokeball and breaks it which could release eternatus a second time and then the masters 8 have to take care of it like both the battle of kalos in XYZ and the guzzlord invasion in sun and moon. It would probably give poor alain and steven some PTSD from the giant rock zygarde but it would be a nice callback to those types of events. Either way I still wanna see this become a reality before the final battle

I have 3 theories if the intro is true.
1) Pikachu will fight Leon's fifth Pokemon (granted Pikachu also appear in some of the 1st 4 Leon's pokemon) & unfortunately draws with Leon's fifth Pokemon. Then Mega Lucario vs G-max Charizard is are clash.
2) Mega Lucario vs G-max Charizard is the second last battle but unfortunately Mega Mutation still lost & Ash only has one Pokemon left, Pikachu to fight Charizard.
3) Mega Lucario vs G-max Charizard is the second last Pokemon for both players & took each other out. Then the final battle will be Pikachu vs (my guess Rillaboom).
These are for Ash vs Leon 6v6

Well, it's the writers fault for marketing Leon as the unbeatable champ. And if such is the case, it's only reasonable that Ash uses all 3 (plus Aura Bond Phenomenon). And knowing Leon, he wants a good challenge. He did take down Mega Charizard X (despite the somewhat lackluster quality of the fight).
At that state, Ash would have already realized the strengths and weaknesses of his gimmicks. Hence, he will have to be smart when and to which Pokemon he needs to use any of his gimmicks if he wants to increase his chances of beating Leon. Coz at the end of the day, I want Leon to fall.

If sir fetched gets a kill on one of Cynthia's pokemon, I wouldn't believe it. He's not Ash's worst Pokemon at all but his performance in the tournament so far has been lack of luster. He's definitely the corefish of the generation.hit and Miss
I could see Ash opening with Gengar, Dragonite or Lucario in the final round and having trouble getting his footing after one of his main powerhouses on his team faints to Rillaboom or Dragapult, let’s say Gengar, one of the remaining ones or Pikachu itself comes out for the revenge kill, ties it up but has to retreat so switches out after the KO and there’s some solid back and forth with probably Dracovish or Sir getting a KO but not both of them then we get back into it, episode 2 probably with 4 v 3. I’d personally like it to be Dragonite the Kanto/Original Pseudo Legendary and Ash’s first catch in Journeys, Lucario his powerhouse in Journeys and the first Pokémon in aWHILE Pikachu has been actively jealous of and of course Pikachu who is his original Pokémon and seemingly his only way to utilize Z-moves so far in the series. I’d like to see Dragonite tie or get an outright KO, Lucario then take out whoever knocked out Dragonite if they are still standing and then score a KO on its own and therefore it be Lucario who takes Leon all the way down to Charizard so we get the mega evolution giant aura sphere fake-out from the promo but with Charizard KO’ing Lucario before Ash can fully activate his keystone or Luc can charge a big ball rasengan. Then Pikachu vs Charizard and either a tie or Pikachu wins but barely.
If this I'd Ash's farewell in the series he has to end it with Pikachu, it wouldn't feel right otherwise

Or he could use his Normalium Z on either Quick Attack for Pikachu or Double Team for Lucario. Not a lot of great options unfortunately...

In the trailer for pokemon journeys episode 118 if you zoomed in you could see both ash and steven were down to 1 pokemon each steven had his mega metagross as his last pokemon and ash had his pikachu as his last pokemon so gengar could not defeat metagross

The way to ash beating them is I'd he uses his strongest. Ones that should make a return are charizard, snorlax sceptile or use his bulbasaur, greninja, infernape, lucario. Charizard has the best chance at beating Cynthia's garchomp due to it knows dragon type moves and they're not effective on him. Greninja also would be apart of it.

I would love if the final battle vs Leon, the rules are anything goes. Use all 6 Pokémon and use all the gimmicks
Ash can easily use his Infernape to burn Steven’s metal type pokemon.
Ash should use Greninja for Cynthia. It will inflict super effective damage against garchomp and her ground type pokemon.
Ash should use his Charizard, Lucario, and Pikachu against Leon.
He could use the best he has like Charizard, Sceptile, Lycanroc, Snorlax, Krookodile, etc
if it was 3 then you could do , Ash-Greninja lucario, and pikachu or if it was 6 he could do mega lucario, ash greninja, gengar, dragonite, pikachu, and goodra.
I mean he is gonna win for sure. But if he didn't - I kinda wish he would lose to Cynthia so she could beat Leon's butt. Like, if we had this whole build up for Leon to win again - I would just scream.
But I mean - personally they didn't disappoint me yet for this tournament, especially with how fun Lance vs Diantha was.
Cynthia has so much build up in games and even volo her ancestor was terrifying. But sonce its the anime they will probably do her dirty to move ash storyline along.

in the true fasion of Ash, he will battle with his journeys team. What the most stupid thing is, he is going against the best of the best, who've had their team for as long as Ash has had pickahu, if not more, each pokemon probably has been in more battles then all of ash's current team combined, yet he expects to be able to win with a weaker team, but thats anime for you lol. Cmon use a better team, Pikachi, Lucario, Greninja, Charizard, Snorlax, Gengar/Dragonite

I think there is a 0% chance that happens haha. It would have been established already if Ash was going to bring back his old Pokémon, especially since they literally went to Oak's Lab to train

Hear me out: Round 1 - 1 Gimmick, Round 2 - 2 Gimmicks, Round 3 - 3 Gimmicks.
Have Lance pull a fast one and have a Z move as well as a dynamax to showcase how Leon tanks all of these attacks without a problem. Then, when the finales arrive, Ash using all three feels more like a strategy than a deus ex machia.
Also, imagine if round 2, Cynthia mega evolves Garchomp and uses Koamo-o with a Z-Move. Super exciting, right?
That would be exciting I guess! However, I can't see this happening. Because Diantha will wipe the floor with Lance😉
@@EliteTrainerMark I would respectfully disagree with Diantha wiping-off Lance. Similar to the games, Diantha's team is mostly trash despite the diversity. Mega Gardevoir is the only one that is really a threat but knowing Lance, he has an answer to Fairy types (ex. Iron Head, Steel Wing).
Also, Aurorus has horrible stat distribution despite being 4x effective vs Dragonite. Not to mention, Dragonite is much faster than Aurorus. And Im sure a Steel move can wipe out Aurorus easily.
While an argument like "game logic doesnt apply to anime" is reasonable, it still does apply in some cases. It's too early to predict anything but Im certain Lance is no pushover.
one thing I am certain of is that I put the 😉 in there to signal that I was exaggerating about Diantha wiping the floor with Lance haha

Simple way: use his old Pokémon for fucks sake.It’s the masters 8, he’s going against literal champions who lets face it are the real deal as opposed to Ash’s easy win in Alola where the league was full of complete noobs and only battled one or two decent trainer.Use his charizard, his sceptile, his Infernape, his gible, his krookodile, etc.Every other champion is gonna be using their best, their long time ones, their aces.If Ash just uses his galar team composing a weak sirfetched, a gengar who barely wins any matches, a lucario who Ash’s Greninja easily thrashed, a dragonite who’s strong but will be very predictable to his opponents, his dracovish and his pikachu he’s gonna loose.He should be taking it seriously, he should utilise his roster of Pokémon, if he wants to beat Cynthia or Leon, he needs his aces, the ones who are his best not because of all the gimmicks used.Ash’s infernape is a complete beast who took down half of Pauls team and who’s blaze is so powerful it makes him super sayan like.His charizard took down Gary’s team, a Articuno, and is just a complete powerhouse.His Krookodile is his best Unova Pokémon, who took down Iris’s dragonite and has a amazing move set.His sceptile took down a darkrai and is extremely strong and fast.His snorlax is a complete unit, it knows a crap ton of moves and has some extremely good battles won.
You're paying attention to all of the bad things about the Journeys team. Sirfectch'd won against Mega Altaria, Lucario has too much wins to explain, like when he 1 shotted Gmax Duraludon, or defeated Gmax Machamp, Dragonite has been losing recently, but won against Haxours, Gengar defeated Gmax Grimmsnarl, Flygon, and Goodra, and Dracovish defeated Noivern. Yes, he should use old Pokemon but this is Journeys time to shine. You're making it seem that Ash is gonna lose. He has plot armor.
I would justify Ash using all three gimmicks against Leon if he did the same

I would like to see 8 trainers thats arent already champions of their respective regions. So Ash and Alan would still be good and Leon since its kind of been a thing throughout this season. But who would the other 5 be? Tobias with his Darkrai comes to mind. Also, surprise blast from the past, Richie from the indigo league. They could've done so much better and had some really cool characters return for this tournament.

Honestly I would like to see pikachu defeat gmax chazard using 1m volt cause ash winning the tournament with pikachu is what I want to see considering these 2 partners have been together for 25 or 26 years and might be the last time we see ash cause I kept seeing those theory that this may be his last so winning it with pikachu would make more sense

My only hope for these matches is that his victories feel earned. I don't know about everyone else but to me a few of his big victories just felt so unsatisfying and more plot armory than usual. Honestly from what I've seen of Ash's battles in journey's so far, I can't even picture a scenario in which he actually beats his upcoming opponents. But we will see how things go down.

If ur not convinced ashes Dragonite uses dragon dance, hurricane, Dragon claw and draco meteor in his match against raihan but next episode Dragonite uses hyper beam against Paul garchomp (I think I dont remember)
Ash's Dragonite has not attempted to use Hyper Beam since JN Episode 65, because in that episode it presumably forgot Hyper Beam in place of learning Draco Meteor
