I use a simple and cheap Fotasy M42-Nikon Z adapter and all of my Japanese vintage lenses work fine - except for one, an early (1960s?) Yashinon 5cm f2. The rear element moves backwards when focusing to infinity and hits the built-in stop in the adapter meant to activate the aperture pin, which prevents achieving infinity focus.
Nothing wrong with those Fotasy adapters! If you are looking for one that works with your Yashinon 50mm f/2, the macro helicoid adapter I've linked in the description doesn't have the usual M42 'lip' so is compatible with those sorts of lenses.
Would this ftz adapter on the Nikon mirrorless z6 ll work with my old old lenses: SIGMA ZOOM AF 1: 3.5 - 4.5 f =28 70mm Thank you so much! Enjoy your videos as a new photographer and photography enthusiast.
@@jennifereverhart4727 Hey Jennifer, thanks for watching! Yes, the FTZ adapter will work on your Sigma, and let it adapt to Nikon Z. The only autofocus lenses that *won't* work with the FTZ adapter are the super-old (ie. 90's) Nikon F-Mount lenses that autofocus with a screw drive.
I have a 40 year old Sigma 70-150mm F/3.5 and I haven't been able to find a mount adapter for this lens. I do have a Canon RP full frame as well as a Canon SL3 with a crop sensor. the lens itself it says it was made for Olympus. Please help me find and adapter. I would love to take some photos with is Sigma lens.
Do you buy any chance know where I can get a good adapter to mount Vintage Nikon lenses to Canon EF mount cameras? Specifically for video. Would be a huge help. Been looking for the longest time
Please be advised the latest firmware version 3.70 for the Z7 is buggy. You no longer can see non-cpu information with either the FTZ and FTZii adapter
When I use my FTZ adaptor and say a 35,1.4 AIS,NIKKOR, or a 51.2 NIKKOR lens I get data read out because I programmed those focal length into my camera. But I have other adaptors for Konica and Pentax lenses to use on my Z5 camera and when I use those “dumb”adapters(no interface), I don’t get any read out for those lenses even though I programmed the focal lengths into the camera. Have you noticed that with your Nikon Z7?
Hi can I use my “old” Nikon 850 with new Z Nikkor macro lens via some adapter? Or just stick with the “old” Nikkor 105 VR macro lens? Sorry for a rookie question, I’m a dentist not a professional photographer
Thank you for your sharing! If I use the same lens in Z5 and z6ii, is there any difference in image quality? (especially at the corner) There are thinner CMOS IR filters in z6 an z7. I am going to use Rangefinder lens in z5 or z6ii, but worrying about the shorter flange focal distance may cause sharp decline in picture quality. I've noticed many complaint about this issue in A7, A7ii.
Rangefinder lenses are generally trickier to adapt but you still can, with no degradation in image quality. The Z mount is generally just much better than Sony's current mount so I suspect those complaints are Sony specific. I can't see the BSI sensor causing a massive difference between the Z5 and Z6ii image quality to be honest.
@@SovietLensReviews Thank you for your sharing. I read the new report in the afternoon and found that when the rangefinder lens wider than 35mm was used in non-LECIA body, the image quality of the corners would be greatly affected. It seems that only 35MM and above can be used in Nikon Z series.
I noticed the tilt shift adapter. Did you ever try the Arsat 35mm 2.8 shift lens or any Sovjet shift or tilt shift lenses? I have just bought the Arsat 35mm f2.8 shift lens (with an Canon FD mount!) but doesn't have any kind of experience yet. Except it looks very soft at 2.8 🙂 And thank you for your videos
Hi John, I haven't actually - some of those Arsat lenses look quite nice, I've been wanting to pick one up to test but it's quite hard to find one that's made prior to '92 from my experience. Definitely on the list though!
Thanks for the shout-out!

Hi mate, do you know if there is an adaptor for the old Canon XL cinema seriers lenses to Nikon Z mount?
Cheers.
Al.

Sorry but you cannot. The issue is in the F mount the distance to the sensor is much larger then in the Z mount.
Thank you for your sharing!

Megadap MTZ 11 aparently doesn’t work on Z8. Any idea about that?
Not surprised, if you're on a Z8 I wouldn't be mucking about with autofocus adapters anyway to be honest.
L mount lenses can adapt? to z mount?
nice compact guide!
You're Aussie? But you said "Zee" and not "Zed"??
