I'm the laid back, "as long as it sounds cool, I'll like it," metal guy. I started in punk, then went to metalcore and technical thrash, and evolved from there. I also have a soft spot for obscure Asian folk metal and in any given day you'd hear me banging anything from Living Sacrifice, to Ayreon, to Saviour Machine, to Altan Urag or Domog.
@@Juu_de You could start with The Hu, Bloodywood, Cthon or Dream Spirit. Those have quite a folk influence. Some other awesome Asian bands without that much folk are Ningen Isu, Maximum The Hormone, Church of Misery and such.
Justin Alexander Ueah not to elitists, metal isn't about conformity but those fuckers throw that shit out the window to feed their narcissistic minds to feel better than everyone else. Ik you're trying to be positive but I'm not willing to take a bullet for someone just because their music taste aligns with my own. In fact, I don't have any friends that are even "metalheads" so it makes zero difference to me.
I think he meant more in the sense that they both sing about epic historical tales, rather than emotions. But DF sings historical fantasy, vs real history.
Infinite Worlds Yes, but in terms of music, they are not simmilar at all. Dragonforce is more faster, with extreme solos and soaring vocals, and Sabaton has slower songs, with normal singing man and more simplistic songs. Plus, Sabaton uses unique type of backing vocals that sounds like a choir.
I'm the type with long hair, Cannibal Corpse t-shirt, some random tattoos, camo pants cut as shorts, chain hanging on the side since forever, half open army boots that have never been polished, hanging near the back watching the band alone and doing the slight neck nod mosh, and oddly always, always have that plastic pint of beer in my hand, even when they only serve bottles.

I'm one of those "rare metalheads" who respect all subgenres. I listen to nu metal and alternative but also death metal and black metal n deathcore n stuff. My favorite genre is probably blackened death metal though, since it's too hard of a choice between death and black.
I'm not even sure where I'd fit because I listen to just about anything that falls under rock or metal. Anything from CCR, Def Leppard, Poison, Rat and other oldies to stuff like Infant Annihilator, Thy Art Is Murder, Cannibal Corpse, etc

I’m a rare Type A Metalhead. I like Black Sabbath and thrash the best. I think that rock and metal are good genres. There are some exceptions. I’m that one person who will stand up for any art form as valid art, even if I don’t like it (except for things like modern pop where there really is no art to it).

As a European, I feel that there isn't a big folk metal and black metal crowd in America. Maybe I'm completely wrong. Here you can find a lot of hippy looking metalheads (I think it's awesome) and vampiric looking ones that are too trve cvlt for you. I love diversity within metal 🤘
Folk is really popular, but I'm not sure about black metal. The reason you think there is a small crowd is because in America metal and metalheads are highly frowned upon and therefore most people who listen to metal here generally keep to themselves.
Yeah you clearly see that this is an American metaler's view. Like in Europe there are a couple of countries in which the internationally best known bands from there are metal bands, like Finland (Nightwish), Sweden (amon Amarth), Germany (Rammstein, Powerwolf) and of course England (one of the biggest entire metal genres at it's time), so metal is still seen as a bit of a subculture here, but widely accepted
Hi, name's Drew. Back in high school I was a huge metalhead but no one knew except the few that accepted me for the metaironic mess that I still am to this date. I just usually wore whatever the fuck was in my closet, really randomly. I just remember one day we went for a Motorhead concert, however I just forgot I had on my sandals (Bare feet, I'm not THAT GUY) on that day. Man, I saw Lemmy doing random shit near the tents, He notices my sandals comes up to me and utters: "Don't think Imma sign em, I mean, ya got guts for a friar but I dunno where those feet have been". Last words from a legend, and they were about my sandals. NEVER FORGETTI.

I started in punk, then went to metalcore and technical thrash, and evolved from there. I also have a soft spot for obscure Asian folk metal and in any given day you'd hear me banging anything from Living Sacrifice, to Ayreon, to Saviour Machine, to Altan Urag or Domog.
Linking because I read Ayreon :D
Also, can you recommend any Asian folk metal bands?
@@Juu_de You could start with The Hu, Bloodywood, Cthon or Dream Spirit. Those have quite a folk influence. Some other awesome Asian bands without that much folk are Ningen Isu, Maximum The Hormone, Church of Misery and such.
Ayreon = Awesome
Star One = Also awesome
No matter how much types of us there are, metal is our one thing in common, that makes us a rockin family
Justin Alexander Ueah not to elitists, metal isn't about conformity but those fuckers throw that shit out the window to feed their narcissistic minds to feel better than everyone else. Chandler Murphy Dragonforce and Sabaton don't share anything simmilar but Power Metal label
They collaborated once right?
JZ Metal Sabaton toured with them about 10 years ago
I think he meant more in the sense that they both sing about epic historical tales, rather than emotions. But DF sings historical fantasy, vs real history.
Infinite Worlds Yes, but in terms of music, they are not simmilar at all. Dragonforce is more faster, with extreme solos and soaring vocals, and Sabaton has slower songs, with normal singing man and more simplistic songs. Plus, Sabaton uses unique type of backing vocals that sounds like a choir.

I'm one of those "rare metalheads" who respect all subgenres. I listen to nu metal and alternative but also death metal and black metal n deathcore n stuff. My favorite genre is probably blackened death metal though, since it's too hard of a choice between death and black.
By blackened death, I'm willing to put money on the only blackened death metal band you know is behemoth 😂
Well we're both rare metalheads, I respect most metal genres and enjoy black and death metal as well.

Folk metal and black metal.are getting quite popular in the US. My husband likes Folk for example.
*kvlt
Come on man, you oughta know better.
I would also say Nu-metal, Metalcore/Deathcore, and Djent are more popular with Us American metal fans.
The limit does not exist, Metalheads are all Unique
I am the aging metalhead:

-genres have evolved from skatepunk -> hardcore -> thrash -> opeth -> finds out about at the gates -> melodeth -> dissection -> finds out about black metal -> now only listens to well aged doom, Intronaut and whatever the new goatwhore or ringworm is.
-closet full of business casual and clothes good for hiking + cut off scandinavian metal bands. One battle jacket featuring an EXEL patch.
-Wishes shows would start earlier due to aforementioned work.

2nd generation metalhead:

-Listens to new stuff, 2008/10ish to present
-Very little in between if any, key exceptions include Pantera, Skid Row, Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, others 90s/00s bands that sound "classic"
-Had a Disney pop phase bc dad's music is for old people but heard new shit and returned to the old shit they grew up with
-Exposes 1st generation to the new stuff that has the classic spirit but modern sound
-Concerts are father/son bonding time
My dad raised me on Maiden and Megadeth and then Avenged released Hail to the King and from there we've discovered so much wonderful stuff new and old and yeah, thanks dad 🤘

Comparing black-metal to scene? Bold. Forward thinking. I like it.
Is it bad that I know a guy that is legit the "my music scares people" scene kid. It started out funny, now its annoying.
I'm kinda that person, but that's because metal legitimately scares a lot of my family members, who seem to think demons will start crawling out of the speakers. The difference being that I just don't talk about it with people who I don't trust to be okay with it. I don't want my family members to think I'm a satanist or something.
