Btw, there is a great Swedish crime book series (also made into a TV series) that takes place in Fjällbacka. The TV version was shot there. Female detective, strange murder mysteries. Pretty good.
The rock [time 7:11] I think is from the classic famous kidsmovie Ronja Rövardotter. It has the same auther as Pippi longstocking: Astrid lindggren. Btw I feel for you and other tourists. We only had summer warm weathee may to mid july. A record short summer😅
This brings back memories. I spent half a year in Grebbestad in the late eigthies. Cool that you could visit the västkusten which is - to me - the most beautiful part of Sweden.

Hope you get to visit again and staying for abit longer. Its something really magical after awhile when you're setting in to that island life.
It is so much fun to hear „I guess we have fifty shades of pink“ about willa‘s dress. The same here with our older daughter, and we did our very best to keep her away from pink at home, but it just did not help. Pink all over, and glitter, whenever she has a word about it. And, of course, unicorns…
A beautiful part of Sweden and a very popular spot among swedes to buy a vacation home. I worked for a summer at Daftö Resort outside Strömstad and I really liked that place. The trip to Koster is definitly worth it but maybe the kids should be a little older so you can rent bicycles for the whole family. That's a lot of fun.

Loved to see your Swedish adventure! We were on vacation in Sweden probably at the exact time as you (last week of August?), but we were in the southeast. It was beautiful, and we actually got perfect weather! I mean, it was not really hot, of course, but it was perfect for us. We even went swimming in the 16 degree cold Baltic sea, having kilometres of white sand beach all to ourselves and the sun being fairly warm. It was my first trip to Sweden, too, and I just fell in love with the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There's so much space and it is so quiet everywhere!
Just saw my hometown of Lysekil pop up in the flow, cool! Yes, you got it right, the touristseason would just have ended in late august. Most Swedes, and tourists from other European countries have their summer holiday from late June til mid August. This area, the Bohuslän coast has always been a popular destination. I´m a bit sad you missed the best part - the Strand promenad in Lysekil, the seaside walk and Norra Hamnen with its excellent restaurants and stunning views. Swedes are more friendly than Norwegians nowadays, because we´re poorer. In the eighties it was the other way around. Come back any time!
The best way to experience the swedish coast is definitely from a boat, especially taking your time with a sailboat and slowly drift up or down the coast!
I don't know if it' s because I am so tired (had a rough week) but on the song you put on the Fjällbacka part ("we're on our way") I was like "What? No, not Norway, Sweden" 😅 ("we're on Norway"...) I hope you visit Sweden again! There is a huge difference between the southern and the northern part. I love the south, very exotic in my point of view but the best part is of course my corner of the country; Sapmi. I recommend to take the E45, Inlandsvägen, to Östersund in county of Jämtland and from there to Strömsund. From there you go to Gäddede and further on towards Blåsjön and over the countyborder to Västerbotten. You will pass the stunning place of Stekenjokk with easy access for hiking with children in the Scandic mountains. From there it is your choice, go north and explore Norrbotten and maybe go south through Norway or explore the east coast of Sweden at the Gulf of Botnia. On the way you can visit Frösö Djurpark (zoo) in Östersund. Ankarede sameviste (an Sami settlement and old church place), very beautiful. Stekenjokk for the views and a little hiking and south of Klimpfjäll you have Fatmomakke, also a Sami settlement/church place beautifully situated. There is also a lot of waterfalls and rapids to visit and not to forget; you must visit Leipikvattnet old settlement, now owned by the swedish state, having a leasteholder to take care of it. There is a lot of videos here on the Tube from Inlandsvägen and Stekenjokk for you to look at. Welcome!

If you come back sometime and dont feel like the long drive, you can take an overnight car ferry from Kiel to Gothenburg, eat some buffét, watch a show and sleep and be over next morning.
Almost local, about 1h away from Grebbestad or 40 min from Lysekil. So sad about the weather, it has been really bad all year... So cool and nice to get another perspective (tourist point of view) of things/places you almost take for granted... ---edit Sundsby! ah... that's 4 min trip for me :-)
Nice to see You passing through my area, a bit unlucky with weather it seems. Love the drone view. Glad you liked it here, if you had passed a month earlier it would have been full of life as it is a very touristic area, but us scandinavians mainly have our vacation in July.
Why did you guys start your trip in eyecandy Norway?? Everything is downhill from here on.. In Asia, every tourist travler say this: Start in sour China - end it in happy Thailand. Love your videos! Have a happy and pleasant trip!
You really got a lot of time off work 😯 I didn't realize how long you're traveling for! How fantastic and just imagine, 20 years from now Willa and Not will be blown away by all the countries they already visited at such a young age!
Regarding age, I kind of regret my parents took me to foreign countries when I was young. So I was more interested in the immediate circumstances, eating, playing etc. than in the landscape or cultural aspects. It didn't help to tell me I have been there when I don't really have a sense of what the differences were. But then I think there might be no perfect time. Go as long as you can.
I'm glad you liked Sweden. I really enjoyed your video. Nicely shot and edited. Can't be easy with kidz and everything else that needs attention. Fika rules!!!! Be safe
The swedish west coast is very crowded in the summer and especially during general vacation weeks 28-32. I guess as swedes we are also a little affected by the current weather, if the weather is cloudy and maybe also rainy we tend to not be outdoors in the same way as if the sun shines from a clear blue sky and it's warm....
It's definitely a nice coastline! But I see some comments on the big differences from Norway. Well. not really, because if you continue north and cross the border to Norway, the landscape is not that different, and if you follow the coastline of Norway south from Oslo you will find several places quite similar to this. I will especially mention the south coast, Sørlandet, which is my favourite and also Norway's "summer paradise", which you may call the soothing part of Norway. A lot of small towns and settlements with white wooden houses and picket fences by the seaside, but also some other flavours. And of course, a lot of small islands and islets. Very nice on a summer day in a small boat. The "problem" is that many tourists think of fjords, mountains and spectacular views when it comes to Norway, so if they come by ferry to Kristiansand, which is considered the capital of Sørlandet, they go directly to the west coast and the most famous places, and perhaps also the northern parts of the country. I think many should have spent a few days exploring Sørlandet. They could have had a quite different view of Norway added to the most famous parts.
@@abcabcboy That was not on my mind when I added my comment, but you're right. Perhaps Norway should take it back, together with Jämtland and Härjedalen further north which Sweden also also took at the same time. And until 1645, most of southern Sweden, up to just south of Göteborg/Gothenburg belonged to Denmark. Then Sweden only had a small strip of coastline around Gôteborg. That should mean that these guys hardly visited Sweden and this video should have been another one about Norway, or the part of Norway occupied by Sweden...😁 I must add that quite a lot of Norwegians have bought summer cabins in this area, much because it's cheaper than in Norway. It's a cunning plan to get the land back without the Swedes discovering it. It is cheaper than war, it just requires a bit of patience to buy enough to take over... DON'T TELL THEM!
Hi guys, nice to hear you enjoyed the southern part of northern countries. Definitely worth to go further north to explore the regions up there. Guess Willa is always hungry for knowledge beside the time she enjoys on a Spielplatz. Thats good. Seems your whole gang have had an enjoyable time in the north and hopefully you are safety back home again and this trip hasnt burn a big big biger hole in your vallet. Btw, your drone footages are excellent and will be much much better when you catch the sunlight and landscape further north. Welcome back home. CU
yay Sweden!! the west coast is the best coast! :) You could stick to the old freeway on your way home to germany. Ther are plenty of nice views and just a nice road to travel. Look for a roadsign with a white flower on it :)
The café you pointed out early on in the video, it really is just as good as you say. Absolutely top notch 10 out of 10; try the sourdough bread they bake too - excellent for breakfast, toast it a bit, put on some butter and a nice slice of cheese - yuumm! :) I would say you should come during the summer season and not so late in the year, but you DID come during summer. lol Sorry about that, this past summer was pretty bad overall. Anyway, Koster is definitely worth its own trip another year - the north island is very typical for the coastline of Bohuslän (which is the part of the nation north of Göteborg and up to the Norwegian border). The nature is very stark and shaped by the ocean waves and strong winds, with lots of exposed rock, thin soil, mostly short trees and lots of shrub growth. Some just get depressed by this, others see a wild, nak ed beauty in it. The southern island is quite lush in comparison (much larger too - good idea to rent bikes to get around.) Another really nice visit is the southern archipelago of Göteborg. There are ferries to all the little islands, buy a day pass and ride them as much as you like and just walk around from one ferry stop to another. The islands are largely car-free (golf carts are quite popular), with lots of quaint, picturesque wooden houses of the style typical for the Swedish west coast. If you do visit northern Sweden, the landscape around Kiruna, up to Abisko natural reserve and Riksgränsen is very beautiful in its vastness and openness. The air is so clean and smells so wonderful during summertime, and out there you basically don't hear anything except birds, the wind (and unfortunately, the buzzing of mosquitos, so come prepared! lol) Maybe when the kids are a bit older and can come with you on a hike in nature. :)
Swedish holidays are june, july. Then everyone is on holiday and school's out for summer. Sorry you didn't get the short summer feel of sweden. It reminds me of a group called "gyllene tider " with their song "juni, juli, augusti". However to me the song "sommartider" is more iconic.
@@beyonderprime5020 ok. But the homemade I make are good. With herbes, garlic, nutmeg and onions, egg, flour, salt and pepper. Cause I am norwegian and we make them little different than the swedes. And we call them "kjøttkaker" = mincemeat cakes😉but Ikea meatballs are not tasty. 🙋♀️🌍from Norway. Here we have the season for Fårikål now. Our national dish. Lamb with cabbage❤coocked together with little water, whole black pepper and salt. Coock in big pot or cassarole slowly for 3 hours. 🥰yummy. Bon appetit!! You can Google it if you like lamb meat. 😉
You guys definitely missed out on the crab fishing, all you have to do is to buy one of these rods and some shrimp that you put on the clamp, then you just go to the nearest dock and lower the bait to the bottom. It’s kinda tricky at first but once you get going you can easily reel in a dozen of them in no time. I used to love doing this as a child and I’m sure yours would’ve loved it, i even enjoy doing it as an adult 😂😊
I really liked the music in this video, you might like an artist from Sweden named José gonzalez (veneer album) It would be nice with a list of songs you're using! Loved the video.
You really have to come back to Sweden, there is so much more to see and explore. Sweden is so different if you compare it from the south to the north! Love your videos, so thanks a lot! 🙂❤
@@OurStorytoTell Another Swede here, glad you liked it here! I would recommend visiiting the island of Gotland, regions like Dalarna, Hälsingland, Värmland and Småland (Astrid Lindgrens world) and the Stockholm archipelago. Originally, the province Bohuslän, where Strömstad is situated, was Norwegian territory, which was transferred to Sweden according to the Treaty of Roskilde in 1658. In other words, stolen land! 😢
@@steinarhaugen7617come on, 300 yrs ago. Get over it. Borders are mostly artificial anyway. Or at least nation states are. People made to care about it from kings and conquerors. Just live your life and chill. But maybe im talking to a nationalist
This part of Sweden was part of Norway from 862 to 1658, 800 years, before 862 it was a sepoarate kingdom, and the stupid german femily who was kings of Norway and Denmark lost this to another German, the king of Sweden. But the facy remains, tj\his was Norway for 800 yrars, ut has been Sweden for 360 years. (The German princes that were elevated into princes and kings in Denmark, Sweden and Norway came out of internal struggles, relationships with the kaiser of the Roman Empire og the German Nation , which existed between 962 to 1806.) However we will go to war and get it back, the price for you Americans will be that the area gets a bit unfriendlier..... Yes, we Norwegians consider Swedes a bit superficial, a bit like Americans, so that suits you both
@@WhiskyandBacon TheDanes, or more correctly, the Germans that were kings, like in Sweden KArl 10. was a German. His descendant Karl 12. tried to take Norway, but we shot him, and returned to Sweden on a gurney, while at the same time the Swedes tried to take middle Norway, but froze to death, so the aggressionist wars was equally agressive on both sides, even if they all were german noblemen and princes. But still the Danes thought they could part with parts of Norway in 1645 and 1658, and since Swedes are a people of little intelligence, almosty as dumb as Danes, We felt a little bit insulted. Since then JEmtland and Herjedalen wanted to be joined to the old country, as well as Ranrike and Viken, which the Swedes thought were called Båhuslen, wihich really was the immediate area around the fortress- I remember visting the museums, and I found no mention ofthat the towns were Norwegian Towns, I laughed.
---edit
Sundsby! ah... that's 4 min trip for me :-)
Nice to see You passing through my area, a bit unlucky with weather it seems.
Can't be easy with kidz and everything else
that needs attention. Fika rules!!!!
Be safe
Fika rules!! Haha love that! 😊 Thanks for your kindness.
The part of Sweden they visited was also part of Norway until 1658, when the border of Norway was just north of Göteborg.
That should mean that these guys hardly visited Sweden and this video should have been another one about Norway, or the part of Norway occupied by Sweden...😁
I must add that quite a lot of Norwegians have bought summer cabins in this area, much because it's cheaper than in Norway. It's a cunning plan to get the land back without the Swedes discovering it. It is cheaper than war, it just requires a bit of patience to buy enough to take over... DON'T TELL THEM!
@@tobiasdubiak4747Hmmm lol we do know lol
Men jag är ju från Bohuslän haha!
CU
Haha we love how much you want to get us up North in Norway!! We want to go there too! 😊
@@OurStorytoTell You as nature lovers you shouldnt miss it. You will be amazed how beautifull it is. I will push you 😀
yay Sweden!! the west coast is the best coast! :) You could stick to the old freeway on your way home to germany. Ther are plenty of nice views and just a nice road to travel. Look for a roadsign with a white flower on it :)
Fun times. Thanks for this.
The café you pointed out early on in the video, it really is just as good as you say. Absolutely top notch 10 out of 10; try the sourdough bread they bake too - excellent for breakfast, toast it a bit, put on some butter and a nice slice of cheese - yuumm! :)
I would say you should come during the summer season and not so late in the year, but you DID come during summer. lol Sorry about that, this past summer was pretty bad overall. The southern island is quite lush in comparison (much larger too - good idea to rent bikes to get around.)
Another really nice visit is the southern archipelago of Göteborg.
It’s okay, we still loved our time! Fun to hear your remember the songs and share! 😊
Beautiful choice of music
Beautiful family in a beautiful country
Aww thanks!! We want to go back so bad!!
Ah Kotzbullar with mash and creme gravy I wish you a wonderful time in Sweden
as well as that you come back healthy. 😁
Thank you! We are home now, but have so much footage to continue to share! We hope you enjoy more of our adventures to come!
Kjøttbullar 😊= meatballs
@@irenestrmnss4496 ..........Kotzen is German for Puke and I call the meatballs Kotz-bullar because they taste like shit.

Ah man! We definitely missed out! That would have been super fun to experience. Sounds like you have wonderful memories of it! 😊
I really liked the music in this video, you might like an artist from Sweden named José gonzalez (veneer album) It would be nice with a list of songs you're using! Loved the video.
Most people in Sweden have vacation in July... (4-5 weeks)!
You really have to come back to Sweden, there is so much more to see and explore. Sweden is so different if you compare it from the south to the north!
Love your videos, so thanks a lot! 🙂❤
We believe that & hope to make it back again someday! Such a lovely time. 🫶
@@OurStorytoTell Another Swede here, glad you liked it here! I would recommend visiiting the island of Gotland, regions like Dalarna, Hälsingland, Värmland and Småland (Astrid Lindgrens world) and the Stockholm archipelago. Depending on what you like, there is a lot (else also) to see, and differs across the country greatly. But based on what you seem to like in the videos that I have seen so far + family friendliness. There are so many towns of different sizes and with different things to offer, culture, history, nature, cute and quaint shops, parks, sights, houses and so on. Places like Visby, Mora, Kalmar, Uppsala, Stockholm old town, Vadstena, Sigtuna, Norrtälje, Mariefred, Trosa, Lund... Hope you'll come back and see some more! Such a lovely family you are! Thanks for taking us with you, sharing your experience! 🌻
I hope you show a bigger city in some video too. Because you really just visited a small part of the pitoresq part. There are a LOT of diferences alll over the country.
We would have loved to explore other parts of Sweden!! 💛
fun to see my home town in this video :D
I don't think that we Norwegians are les friendly, but i think we need a bit more warming up, we are more introvert as people. I blame the longe dark winters.😂
Whats that song? "if we only give it one shot at this life"..."We're on our way"....so good, but who is the artist?
Can't imagine living anywhere else 😊
Sorry about the weather, it's usually much better than this...
Truly like what you do but please lower the background music.
Keep it up!
Thanks for the suggestion!
I'm so happy that you enjoyed the country I love so much! You chose a really great strip of Sweden for your first visit. I know the area from previous travels and recognised several places. This weekend I will take off for Sweden once again and already planned to see some of the places you just showed to us - what a great attunement for my journey! Thanks a lot for your hint to Grebbestad, as I love bakeries!
But, the best and most beautiful archipelago is outside Bergen on the West coust of Norway. Believe me, i lived there for over 20 years.
So cool you live there! Wow!

You gotta see the Stockholm Archipelago as well :)
Now you have to watch Pippi Langstrumpf the original with Inger Nilsson (in German) and then read the books for comparison.
And next summer they have to go to Gotland and visit Pippis house. 🙂 (My moms best friend rented out her apartment in Stockholm to Inger Nilsson for many years).
That is so cool! We wanted to go there so bad because we know Willa would have loved it! Just a bit too far from where we were unfortunately!

I don't think Swedes are more friendly, but they are maybe a bit better at having a professional service attitude.

@@OurStorytoTellSwede here: Norwegians are lovely people, very friendly.
Depends where in the country, in this part of Sweden they are known for being more laid back and friendly.
oh yes, Oh yes, the good old yellow Bavarian houses...no dog in Bavaria has ever had problems with a Bavarian when he peed on his house wall.
Haha we have never heard anyone say that before 😂
Originally, the province Bohuslän, where Strömstad is situated, was Norwegian territory, which was transferred to Sweden according to the Treaty of Roskilde in 1658. In other words, stolen land! 😢
We had no idea about this! It’s a beautiful area.
@@OurStorytoTell Yes , beautiful area but stolen.
@@OurStorytoTellNobody cares these days. I am from Bohuslän and we consider ourselves Swedish but with Norwegian history.
Stolen? No, won in a war the Danes started against Sweden. 🙂 Don't forget that Norway was a part of Denmark at the time.
(The German princes that were elevated into princes and kings in Denmark, Sweden and Norway came out of internal struggles, relationships with the kaiser of the Roman Empire og the German Nation , which existed between 962 to 1806.)
However we will go to war and get it back, the price for you Americans will be that the area gets a bit unfriendlier.....
Yes, we Norwegians consider Swedes a bit superficial, a bit like Americans, so that suits you both
Cry me a river...Sweden took Bohuslän after the Danes lost one of their countless aggression wars against Sweden.
Since then JEmtland and Herjedalen wanted to be joined to the old country, as well as Ranrike and Viken, which the Swedes thought were called Båhuslen, wihich really was the immediate area around the fortress-
