Hate It or Love It returns with the biggest episode I could think of...7 Reasons Why People HATE Billie Eilish! Remember ya dinguses, these are NOT my reasons, but I will weigh in with my opinions on each. Thanks for watching, leave me a like if you enjoy the video!
i’ve never really had anything against billie herself or her music i just don’t like how she’s played on “alternative rock” stations and her fans can get very annoying
Same, 'everything i wanted' has started to be played on my local alternative station. I guess it's fair game as they play Prodigy, Imagine Dragons and even songs from Bring Me The Horizon's last album, but something's up when I went on the top alternative songs chart on iTunes a month ago and the top 3 were Dance Monkey, Someone You Loved and everything I wanted.
@Miles Cory Yes. And since you mentioned Linkin Park, it's worth noting that the UK rock station Kerrang refused to play anything from One More Light until Chester died.
I will openly admit her music doesn't do anything for me, but I respect her for being different and standing out in a world where mainstream seems very streamlined. I know a lot of people like her and I aint going to say she is bad either, because that's not true, she's just not my cup of tea. Cannot say I 'hate' her. She seems like such a lovely woman when I see her in interviews. Hate sounds too personal.
@@beyondartv With the internet and social media these days you'll find no one is safe from hate. Even the most beloved artists will have a group of people scream "overrated" :)
i am in agreement with everything your saying about Billie, standing out and being herself and not caring what others think of her. in a mainstream, under pressure music industry. i love her music. i got introduced to Billie from ARTV when Jon reviewed her album "When we all fall asleep, where do we go" and i'm glad i was. once in a while, i find myself playing her songs on repeat here on you tube. her rendition of the James Bond theme is spot on. hauntingly beautiful.
Actually, artist is hated when he/she is being overhyped, same case like why people hated BTS, Taylor Swift and Beyonce back in the day. I mean when the artist is starting big, automatically there are many producer or songwritter or other artist who will aproach him/her
From the title alone: 1) She's popular 2) The 'industry plant' thing 3) Getting too much credit because of her age 4) Her vocal style 5) Her production style 6) Being played on rock/alternative stations 7) Being edgy
I hate the edgy reasoning when it comes from rock fans and metalheads in particular. They really have no room to criticize her for that when part of the essence of rock and metal is edgy, angsty, and negative music.
It's weird being a male fan of her as a high schooler. Most people don't realize that I'm a big fan. I play goalie for my soccer team and I told my team that I can't be there because I'm going to a concert and it was arranged in October. They said, That's okay. Who are you seeing? I said, Billie Eilish. That same teammate preceded to say that it was unacceptable to see Billie Eilish that day. The hate is incredibly strong, and I've really gotten a "Twenty One Pilots in 2016" vibe from it all. The connection is there.
There is absolutely no problem with being a fan, but I won't miss matches because of a concert. Team first mate. I'd rather go on another one or buy a DVD(if it's recorded).
@@adithyaprasad8586 I'm going with my best friend and it was a Christmas gift from my Dad. I don't want to miss matches (duh) but don't really have that option this time.
@@adithyaprasad8586 bruh. You sound like that riverdale meme "the highs and lows of highschool football". It's Just another game, as opposed to an experience this person may never have again
I personally don’t really care for Billie Eilish because she’s one of many artists that Billboard likes to parade around as a rock artist, but she’s nowhere close to rock
dooder ugh 🤦♂️ see I don’t even blame Green Day for promoting Father of All... as “100% Pure Uncut Rock” because if shit like this is what’s getting called rock music nowadays by even people who actually make rock music, then America needs a reminder of what rock actually is.
@dooder Oh yeah, I read that article, and let me just say that that is the most inaccurate comparison ever, her music is not on the same level of influence as Nirvana's music at all
Manuel David Rendon Acevedo I did. It sounds more rock than most of the shit that’s been getting popular on the rock charts. Now go check out Billie Eilish, Imagine Dragons, and P!ATD’s newer hits and tell me if they sound anything close to rock.
I agree completely, while her debut album wasn't my cup of tea, I won't deny that she has been successful in what she has done, and I would like to see more from her in the future to see if she can keep on evolving as an artist
Gemma Williams to me she just seems to appeal to people like „i’m not like other girls, i’m so quirky“ and she’s trying too hard to be different and edgy
I don't like her but tottaly admire how she puts alot of work in her mudic but i really respect that there are people who doesn't blame people for different opinions and perspective so do i
Nah people call her an industry plant because she changed her entire image, and is signed to one of the biggest labels in the world. Half her songs are literally written by her brother, makes some sense that people would think that she's an industry plant.
grim they were not successful and known at all. her family was actually poor. her parents had nothing to do with her fame. and her songs are not written by only her brother. they work together
Before I watch the video, I will assume the points are: 1. She is trying too hard to be edgy / alternative 2. The ‘industry plant’ statement 3. Her snubbing awards from other ‘deserving’ artists 4. Her vocal style / production style 5. Overhyped by fans 6. Her music being played on alt-rock stations despite not being alt-rock 7. Her comments on rap music lyrics
If the Grammys chose her, IT JUST CHOSE HER- CAN'T CHANGE THAT! Y'all acting like NOBODY got a Grammy BUT BILLIE EILISH! If she is that great ACCEPT THAT and be glad that she is rewarded for her music. She tried her best to earn that and SHE DID! GROW UP!!! 2. FOR HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE TO TELL YOU- WHISPER SINGING IS STILL SINGING! She loves the whisper singing style stop ACCUSING HER OF NOT BEING TALENTED! Her music is compared to her whisper voice. Imagine her using a LOUD, ROCKY voice... DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT TO YOU?! No so be thankful that her whisper voicre is her blessing and that people love it
I'M A BAD GUY DUH First off, no need to be so passive aggressive on here mate. We all support her and are happy for her. Secondly, I never said that I disliked her or think she didn’t deserve the win. I fucking love Billie’s music ahaha
I feel like teenage girls are hated by music fans in general. I think that's a lot of it. I work in concert security, and they really aren't that bad, and are not generally the ones giving security hell. But people really hate them, especially when they're famous
Teenage girls keep getting hated on for just liking things. You like pop music or rap? you’re a basic bitch You like metal, rock, alt, etc,? You’re a Try hard And it goes far beyond music but still
Mirage_Panzer Nobody knows what goes on in people’s heads, so you have no right to say that, but really there are some suspicions, I mean most depressed people don’t reach out and tell people about their depression, they hate themselves and don’t want anyone to know about them, Billie is just like “iM dEpReSSeD” 24/7, and also how am I supposed to believe that she is actually depressed?
I don’t hate Billie Eilish, but I do find her to be really overhyped. She has some ok to good songs, and When The Party’s Over is excellent, but I legit can’t stand Bad Guy, like at all. Part of me feels like the hype is rooted in how guys like drooling over “alternative” girls. I don’t think her music is exactly spectacular, but I respect it because I feel it could inspire a left turn in what’s popular. That’s pretty much where my feelings lie with Billie.
Bad Guy is actually a sarcastic song aiming at the double standard towards men and women, it basically portrays guys as being able to do all this bad stuff yet no one calls them out on it, and the girl isn’t allowed to do any of that (not that they even want to lol)without being harshly criticized by the world. On an interview, Billie said in similar words: “oh so you’re a tough guy blah blah blah...why can’t I be the bad guy? I’ll make your mama sad type, make your girlfriend mad tight, might seduce your dad type... I’m the bad guy!” She kinda says DUH in a sarcastic mood cause she’s not like that but it’s a stupid way of thinking and pretty comical in a way that society downgrades women for absolutely anything, yet if a man does it or something 10x worse, no one cares. They even get praised. It’s a really simple idea but it’s been taken completely out of context, portraying Billie LITERALLY as the bad guy thinking she’s all cool and edgy and bs. I think it’s ironic that the media attacks HER instead of what she was actually trying to say in the song which was towards some men being trash and women being criticized. It’s like the point and the sarcasm went right over their heads. I don’t blame people who don’t know, but even when I tell them what it’s actually about, they don’t believe me for some reason. You can talk all you want about the style of singing because (and I quote Billie) “the song is literally two notes” and it sounds like she’s whispering, or you just don’t like how it sounds...honestly same. I think it’s fun to listen to but it’s by far not my favorite song from her. I don’t hate it either cause it’s a catchy song. But if you’re gonna hate on the song because of the lyrics, you should do some research on what the song is actually about before bashing Billie. Oh and by the way lol, this doesn’t go towards you. I’m talking in general towards all of the haters that hate this song for THAT specific reason, they make a judgement of her persona, and hate the entire artist over that. Hope I explained myself correctly😂
@@carolinaferraes4982 Billie's single "Bad Guy" is the only song I am tired to hear on TikTok. Yes, the song is highly sarcastic, dry and mildly "morbid". Whatever you vented plus expressed about the song is exactly what Billie is approaching. Billie's other songs are okay. By okay, I don't mean in a negative tone. I am stating that there are better artists, who can approach to a darker tone, along project a rich, instrumental sensation than "Bad Guy". I don't hate Billie. She's just okay.
Yeah, I came across so many 13 or 14 year olds who like her and then I think: Do they even understand what shes trying to show? Or what she's singing about? I guess not. They just like her because she looks "cool" and dresses different or something...
My predictions, even though i like a lot of their stuff. 1: Anything they've made after Meteora, especially One More Light, is selling out. 2: They have edgy lyrics 3: They were a nu-metal band, therefore, they're posers. 4: Their songs were in the Transformers movies. 5: Brad isn't that great of a guitarist. 6: They make hypocritical statements. 7: Their music is overplayed.
I really don't like her music. Every time her music comes on I can barely hear it, because it always feels like whispering to me. I just don't like it. But as a person she seems cool, and I'm definitely happy for her. She's incredibly successful and the people who do like her music really like her.
I agree. Overrated. Nice voice, but all her songs are the same sound. Whispering and depressing. Its like encouraging depression. Its bs foe today's generation but theyre simple and idolize anyone they feel relates to them.
I don't like Billie mostly because of seeing and hearing about her EVERYWERE, and I get it's a stupid reason, but it's annoyed the living crap out of me. But either way I have a lot of respect for her and I do like some of her stuff but it isn't really my cup of tea
I agree with you, I had an annoying friend who kept talking about Billie Eilish all the time it annoyed the hell out of me. I don't hate her too but some of her fans are just so... well, you know what goes next.
Personally I love Billie she's one of my favorite artists but for the most part I get why people hate her especially because of the toxic fans and I'm not one of them. I give her props and respect for doing all of this at a young age with her older brother and going outside the box.
I don't hate Billie Eilish but she's EXTREMELY OVERHYPED, still talented but she just whisper and you can barely hear her when she's on stage. Some good songs but none of them are great imo
Yeah, I agree, like whenever there's a singer, I don't mind if they don't have a "heavenly or falsetto" voice, I love low octave singers so much like Pink, Skylar Grey, Avril Lavigne, Amy Lee, Florence Welch, Madonna, SZA, Kehlani and even Beyoncé, even musicians who don't necessarily sing but have a more ambitious vocal resonance like K.Flay do something with their voice, but Billie doesn't really seem to pur a lot of effort into her singing voice, like people are saying that she's the new Avril but there's no semblance in her honestly
Yep. My mum thinks she is talentless and overhyped because "all she does is whisper". Well, not everyone has to scream like they're having their balls pinched (as I say because my mum is a metalhead)
@@iliketrains3495 do you even know what singing is. it's not whispering it's letting your voice out. I don't hate her and I really think she has a beautiful voice (like in lovely), but whispering is not singing.
It's not that we're boomers and automatically hate her, her music is written for 11 yr old girls. I'm cruising down the highway and I want something heavy, Zeppelin or AC/DC, etc not Billie Eilish. Besides the media shoves her music down everyone's throat, I'm not into that, I listen to what I like, not what the establishment wants me to listen to. Nuff said.
Oh my god, people complain no matter what! I am personally SO GLAD that actually good music is hitting the mainstream again. It's been awhile. I think since like the mid-2000s mainstream music has been in a pretty bad decline. It felt like it was just getting worse and worse, with the occasional great song topping the charts (Uptown Funk for example) but it was getting so rare. Now we have stuff like Billie Eilish and Lizzo, music made with real talent and passion. 21 Pilots was kinda leading to this i think. When i heard Stressed Out the first time, i was so confused it was a chart-topper. And as their success continued to grow, i started getting my hopes up for proper music on the charts again.
Music began declining by 2005. Then had a minor leap around 2009 - 2011 . By 2012 - now, music has been declining . If you're referring to underrated artists, then I suppose. However, mainstream music of promoting morbid, dry, and sadistic songs with minimal effort is what people like you vibe to? I don't get that. No wonder TikTok promotes these songs that aren't even deep nor powerful . Don't ask what other song I know is much darker than "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish. Because thats irrelevant. The point I state here is mainstream music has been on a decline and will never reclaim its golden days .
Billie’s current impact on the female singer landscape reminds me of 2003 when artists like Avril and Evanescence were outselling and getting more airplay than artists like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera (with Billie being the Avril/Evanescence equivalent of this example and people like Ariana being the Britney/Christina of this example) I wonder if this means that we’re gonna continue to get more “alternative”, “angsty”, and “edgy” female singers that dominate the pop culture landscape
I thought the same thing I was OBSESSED with evanescence as a middle school kid. I think when you’re a kid you’re emotional regulation is still being built out and having an outlet in the form of angsty music is something that is so essential for kids of that age. I think that’s the real reason she’s taken off so much. Something different in a sea of hip hop and trap
@Music Mood and Mindset I feel you, Fallen and Under My Skin were my albums in middle school, I used to think that Avril and Amy were just the coolest girls on the planet (well I still love Amy but it’s super hard to defend Avril with almost everything that she made after UMS) and they captured middle school emotions perfectly, just like Billie today (minus the rock edge of those albums), I’m glad that we’re slowly going back to that era, I Miss it so much
She is not even alternative Her music is very much like mainstream hip hop influence I was in the time when avril lavigne broke into mainstream and still remember that point of time where all over radio stations you could hear either bubblegum pop or rap then she just broke all of it or in the 90s when there were glam metal and synth-pop all over the radios and suddenly Nirvana came out and that is called Alternative In the case of billie she is not even making any heavy guitar based music or rather than say grunge music which you don't hear anywhere thats why people hate her
Another reason I see her getting a lot of hate is the fact that she’s winning awards in Alternative rock. While I do agree that she’s not rock at all, that’s not a valid reason to hate her.
Yeah, same for Imagine Dragons and Coldplay. I mean, I consider the earlier half of both band's discography to be rock, but people act like they "ruined" rock smh
I don't like pop in general. I'm definitely not the target audience as I mostly listen to metal. As pop stars go, Billie is not awful at all. Her fans can be a bit cringy for sure but in general Billie is a decent artist. Not for me but not bad nonetheless
Hateful people online ruined her for me. I was a fan of her since 2018 before she blew up and I loved both her music and how open she is, but then after her album came out, it was insane. Suddenly so many people started making fun of her, started saying she is glorifying depression and that she is trying too hard to be different. I was so sad because I felt like I wasn't allowed to like her anymore (i know stupid but i really got sick of seeing people say that stuff everywhere) and I couldn't even enjoy her music for a while. Now I really don't give a damn about those people, I like what I like and after all, Billie is just a teenage girl doing what she loves. I think people forget how young she is. Leave the girl alone, she did nothing wrong and you don't have to bully her just because she's not your taste and you think classic rock is the only acceptable genre.
Here’s the thing that pisses me off. I have manic depression, a sensory disorder, autism as well as other things and when people say a younger person doesn’t understand how to be deep that makes me mad. I used to write poetry just to stay awake in class and my poems were about abortion, murder, suicide, miscarriage, etc... stuff I didn’t personally experience, but had a sixth sense about; then to have people say I couldn’t of written that stuff cuz I wasn’t old enough to understand those feelings that was a gut punch. Don’t try to tell me that I can’t understand these types of things or I’m too young for depression; you’ll lose every time cuz I did feel it and I did write these poems. 😐
i agreed completly, alot of her fans are giving younger people with depresion a bad reputation, like those people wrighting how they can relate under her song couse they are also deprest(wich lets be real if you are depresed thats probably not how you would act) and now people say stuff like TeNaGeRs CaNt Be DePrEsD they can and they are they just too scare to talk about it becouse they dont want you thining they are emo or dark or fake it for attentin
But it's true. How can you write about something you've never actually felt? What you have are opinions.. have you ever felt your baby being ripped from your body? Ever carried a baby? Ever been raped or molested? Ever killed someone? If no, you cant understand NY of it. But depression, yes, anyone at any age can feel it. Of course I'm not sure why young kids are depressed, but depression works on different levels.
Same. Its more her FANS. Like i hear sentenses like "Im SO dAmAgeD/depressed, Oh thats so deep etc." ALL THE FRICKIN TIME 14JO girls saying they are DaMAged fucks me right in my mind. Like if u jump off a 12m kliff u are "damaged". 》:(
@@daKoenig I'm a huge Billie stan and I'm 13, but I Like her because of her personality and her voice and her genuine kindness, not because she's 'dark" or 'depressing' or 'edgy'. And I totally understand that not everyone is gonna like her and they are entitled to their own opinions, I just find it annoying when they say she's 'talentless' or 'only whispers' because her only songs everyone really knows are bad guy and EIW but like did you hear her at the brits?! But I'm fine with people thinking she's 'over-hyped' or 'not their cup of tea' yk. Oh also just putting it out there, I'm not depressed or ' emotionally damaged' 😂
I don't necessarily "hate" Billie. She just gets overhyped to the point that it gets annoying. I used to like Billie's past works but the current Billie, I'm just not a fan of. While I liked songs like lovely and when the party's over, and maybe even everything i wanted; the majority of her songs and the current voice that she decided to go with, mostly from her debut LP, just really isn't for me. While No Time To Die was a good song, it didn't wow me anything, but I like how Billie presented the song with vocals that I thought were reminiscent of her past works and I do hope she does more of it in the future.
I think it’s the fact that she’s EVERYWHERE. I didn’t like her music to begin with, but when Billie joe did the rolling stone interview with Billie eilish, everyone now associates my favorite band with her. Then it just kinda snowballed. And I don’t really think it’s her that’s the problem, I think it’s her teenage girl fans who get pissed at you when you don’t like her.
Very true!! When I said I dislike Billie eilish all the girls at my middle school came after me saying that I'm such a wierdo that listens to hard Rock.... Yo half of that's true 😂 but I don't think it's nice to. Assume tho
I agree with you 100 💯 She hangs of notorious people balls to damn much! You can’t be a Greenday fan and then go leech off Eminem’s balls tomorrow! What pissed me off is how she wanted to run her jazzy ass mouth like she was above us TRUE GREENDAY FANS out here like someone special because she has the same name as Billie Joe Armstrong! Everything that girl said was obvious as hell! If she really knew her homework she would know that Billie Joe dislikes Eminem, and she goes over to collaborate with anyone just for her own popularity! Nobody even knew who she was until she started leeching off all those notorious people anyway!!! I’m a die hard Greenday fan my self and feel like she is just Entitled Karen who just uses people and has everything handed to them in life and didn’t even deserve it. He brother writes her songs for crying out loud!!!
Xanny X i dislike her as well, and it‘s partially because her and her main audience are teenagers who are „so quirky“ and have diagnosed themselves with depression, when it is really just stress they‘ve purposefully not resolved or blown out of proportion. also because her lyrics emulate that „i’m so different and depressed, i‘m not like anyone else“ feeling.
I’m not a fan of her music just cause it’s not my style. But I like watching her interviews she seems like a super cool person to talk to and I appreciate her doing something different in pop mainstream
Shes not really different I mean we've already seen artists like her, with depressive style, very similiar instrumentals, lyrics I have nothing against her in general, but tbh,she would be nothing if there were no lorde,Lana del rey etc
I’m a bit conflicted on what to think about her music. I’m a bit on the fence. She might win me over one day. It depends on what she’ll release in the future. Either way I respect her and what she’s doing.
Not a huge fan of pop but I have alot of respect for Billie Eilish. I mean she doesn't have 15 songwriters writing her songs, she sings about things she actually knows about, she doesn't dance around half naked, and she doesn't sound like every other pop star.
"You don't have to be impressed but you also don't need to slam down simply because it's not your style." This is how I feel. Billie's music is too dark and messy for my taste and I don't like the whisper singing... But she's wildly talented and I'm so proud of her success. I don't understand the entitlements people feel to love all popular or talented artists. No one person's tastes dictate what is Good and Right. Therefore, something can be good and not your taste.
Bravo. Music very subject. Don’t knock it down if it is not your taste like you said. For me, the antics like crying dark liquid seems too… I don’t know and I used to like Marilyn Manson so I am not shocked by it. But it seems as a ploy to appear weird. But to each their own. She is just a kid. It seems a bit try hard to be a badass or look how dark I am !! Living in white suburbia sometimes and I can listen to a song or two but after that she bores me musically. Lyrically she is ok, good. Again music is subjective
Talented? Where’s her ability to paint? draw? Play Actual Musical Instruments? Or Write Music without Big brothers or notorious singers, coaches and payed assistance?
The “rap lyrics not being true” article is completely fake. I read the interview they’re referring to and they took out half of what she was saying. She wasn’t dissing rap, she was saying how she’s similar to a rapper in the way that she exaggerates and “lies” sometimes. But it’s not “fake edgy”, as you said, she just creates characters. She writes stories, which isn’t fake, it’s good writing skills, not just in songwriting but in general
I get what youre saying about creating characters but also there must be some authenticity in there. There must be something that must come from her own soul and life. Not everything has to be a character. Which she does by the way in some songs, but when she does weird, looks kind of fake to me like oh look parents!! I am so edgy and cool.
One thing I personally don’t like about her is that she talks about her depression way to much, almost to the point where I don’t think she has ever had depression
I really like Billie. She got my attention after she appeared on Hot Ones and I slowly began to like her music as my sister kept playing her. She fully won me over with “Everything I Wanted”. Her music is more unique and authentic than what plays on the radio, and I have nothing but the best wishes for her career
Same here. I saw her on hot ones and loved her song "bellyache" and been a fan since. Honestly people will find any reason to hate on celebrities just because it's not what they like
I don't hate her either. I don't know why people often to press others to hate a particular artist because it's popular. Sometimes it's enough to say that you just don't care for their work.
These are the type of people that famous people have: Crazy fans, Mega fans, fan, Haters, Crazy haters, don't like her music but respect as a person. ;-;
I don't hate her and I think she has a very likeable personality and her music is pretty nice and something fresh for sure. However, I'm not a big fan of how aggressively she's being pushed down my throat. Like just in this year, this girl swept the Grammys, performed at the Grammys, performed at the Oscars, dropped an MV for her single everything I wanted, is going the Bond theme and performed at the BRITs and did like 6 interviews. It's too much. And award shows showering her with medals because she's commercially successful unlike alt. artists like Lana Del Ray but also has that edgy alternative vibe that distinguishes her from mainstream popstars like Ariana, it's just annoying. She makes good music and deserves to be lauded but the way everyone's just on their knees trying to make her the most critically acclaimed darling in the world is just not sitting right with me. #Ariana&LanaDeservedAGrammy
It’s the blind leading the dumb and the dumb leading the blind out here! I totally agree with you! A person who doesn’t even write their own song doesn’t even deserve to have big ass awards anyway! The World likes to brown nose to much! People say that people are envious of people like her when the only reason why those who don’t like her have millions of times more talent and deserve credit! It’s like the world shrines to retardation these days!
Personally, I think Billie is very talented, especially for her age. I don’t usually listen to her music, but sometimes when I have nothing to listen to, I listen to one of her hits. It’s just kinda dumb because a lot of her fans are edge lords and fake deep.
To anyone who has had a bad experience with a rude billie eilish fan : THE REAL FANDOM DOESNT CLAIM THEM. it makes me so mad to see some fans be so rude to other people. but most of these are 11 or 12yo that don’t understand people have opinions. I’m a HUUUUGE fan but i 100% respect every opinion, as long as it’s not hateful and disrespectful.
Hate how so many people seem to have a distaste simply for her presence and the "authenticity" and all that crap...like, either you like her music for what it is or you don't but don't come up with some random reason for not liking her that has Nothing to do with her music
I guess Billie Eilish isn't really for me, but my mother likes Billie Eilish quite a bit. I found a CD copy of Billie's debut album one day since my mom recently got Billie's first EP. When Mom bought it she asked if I wanted to hear it. I was more than happy to, but when "Bad Guy" started the bass volume was too much for me. I wish I hadn't been born with sensitive ears because I want to enjoy Billie Eilish's music more. I just generally don't like how the bass is produced in new music, I guess.
For me it's always gonna be the fandom, they're always gonna be the 'I wish she was still our little secret, I cant believe I've been listening since ocean eyes' 🙄
i’ve been around since her first album and i never cared about that stuff but you’re entirely right when people don’t feel quirky anymore they don’t like the artist. everyone wants to feel special and if everyone’s listening to the artist they listen to they drop them because it’s mAiNsTrEaM
I was never really first but I'm proud I saw how chill the fandom was before she blew up. I cherished the moments where she was a hidden gem at that too. Other than that idrc about who got first or so but it does feel nice to see someone blow up to which she deserves. But I do definitely get annoyed when someone tries to look better than you when they use that "IVe BeEN ThERe SInCe"
@@rockyowu9150 i am not a fan, but i am not lying when I say she has the most beautiful voice ive heard. name one singer that sounds better. and her personality is what makes her feel comfortable with who she is, do you want her to force herself to be happy about everything? life doesnt work like that. she has a unique style that has influenced a lot of people today, I am happy that she isnt some other full-of themselves singer who dresses like everyone else.
the only reason i don't like her music is bc i don't like when people talk in a soft voice personally. it just makes it feel like somethings crawling up my spine
1# it's most of her music are memes. You can thanks the meme culture for over exposing her music to large number of people in the internet, which led to her gaining such notoriety in the mainstream market. Meme music should be a genre of itself.
Personally I don’t hate her but my relative distain comes from the fact that she’s just so overrated and she’s EVERYWHERE her stuffs not necessarily bad (on the contrary sometimes) but it’s inescapable which drives me mad 😂 not a great reason I know but hey it’s true. That and people hail her for being so different, I guess maybe in the charts she’s the only one who sounds how she does but I’ve come across random artists on Spotify who I do a double take like is this her. Not that’s that’s a bad thing but her styles not as unique I guess as a lot of people seem to believe. That said she seems pretty decent and I like some of her stuff so uh good on her I guess 😂
The hey neighbor greeting warmed my heart ❤️ I love that name for us subbies. Mr. Rogers was a wonderful human being. Plus you presented this vid in such a respectful way. You’re always so entertaining and interesting to watch, Jon. ☺️
I like Billie and I'm excited to see where she takes her artistry in the future, but right now, her music is good, but doesn't have much replay factor for me and ages rather quickly
Billie Eilish makes good music. It's an interesting and different take on electronic/pop music. But too many people treat her like a god which sucks and makes a lot of people hate her. The 14 year-old girls need to stop.
I love how a lot of the criticism against her. The fact that she's gotten so many awards and the Bond song and that she's being played on Alternative stations. Absolutely none of that stuff is her fault so I don't understand how that can be a strike against her. Whenever she got her Grammys she was so upset cause she knew she would be attacked for it and she was right she did get attacked for something she had no control over. I do love Billie and I understand if someone doesn't care for her music or her aesthetic that's fine music is objective and everyone is entitled to like what they like and not like what they don't like. The only thing I have a problem with is people criticizing her or any other artist and hating them for things they have no control over. Thank you for this video and being objective I really appreciate it.
To the people who hate billie out there, we fans are not making u like her if u hate her then it's ok but u don't have to speak hurtful words towards her, maybe she's a celebrity but she's still a person that has feelings too, you guys ask us fans why we love her, cuz she is true she is herself and she probably helped a lot of teens suffering from depression, I save her music ,I save her photos, I save her videos , cuz she saved my life, it's the least I can do, and not because that's the way to thank her but I definitely enjoy listening to her it makes me more Happy and makes me feel I'm not alone, even if she doesn't know I even exist she made me feel that she love me and her fans, people judge her for wearing baggy clothes why? Anyone can wear what they want, you can wear what u want, and why do u tell her to wear what u want ? You don't like her cuz she doesn't belt? , U don't need to be shouting to be good at singing what's important is the emotions, she writes her songs with her brother that hard to do, and last you don't like her cuz she Is being her why? If she lived on based what u say she is a totally different person who doesn't know herself, and if she listened to what u say she won't be her that's why she was given birth cuz she can have her life, we don't need to control her,if u don't like her music just don't listen to it, if u don't like her don't watch her, cuz u watch her then u dislike the videos, u are currently giving her more views hahaa, and those things that your making us hate her or not love her anymore are probably those things making us love her more😊 I'm so sorry hahaha we can't be controlled by your fucking dumbass minds
Tbh, I don’t think people are wrong to think differently then me. But people who say she whispers are neither going deaf, or they just heard the “popular opinion” and went with her.
Her "dark" behaviour is not true, but it's only used to pretend to have more personality. I read about people surprised because Billie said when she was sixteen she started to think much about death and the lack of a purpose in life. Come on! I had the same thoughts when I was a teenager, and also now I have, there's nothing special in that! This year she reveals her joke to us all: while she passed the last entire year to pretend to be a depressed life-cursed girl with the human life-tragedy burden on her shoulders, now she presents herself as the funny girl with the green hair and a great smile which she wants to give to the world... ONLY because she now is famous and has achieved her goal thanks to the role played last year! Billie is an other character in the music business: there's nothing true in her personality. And people fall in love with this type of artists... always: not real, but made with fake features to be so impressive. The problem is not Billie, the problem is she is overrated, in the same way all these kind of "false-character" artists are.
@Ivicooler 13 Billie wasn't really depressed: it was a joke! Look now! She is happy! Everybody loves her! She is the happy green hair girl now! Her brother invented her character and all her things
@@korimcentire5367 Not with the grammys in her hands... truly not. In that case she was the happy green hair girl. I am not disrespecting her music style, it's not bad, some songs are fine. I hate these fake characters. Why can't we deserve something true? I'm so tired of these... plastic plays. Oh yes, I forgot now she is the blondy hair GIRL POWA woman. New year, new role, new play: it is all a fucking joke, come on.
I think all of her music sound the same. Whispering through all her songs..I'm guessing souding depressed all the time it the way to get grammys these days
People are ragging on her because jealousy breeds contempt. The keyboard critics either don't have any goals of their own or aren't achieving the ones they have, while she's a Teen realizing her dreams. She's winning Grammy's, working with other artists she looks up to (like Alicia Keys) and now has just written a theme song for a Bond film. It doesn't matter whether her music is good or not, she's winning in life, and her success is reminding her keyboard critics of their failure.
I like her. Do I believe she deserves all the fame she's gettin? Yeah, for sure. But I do believe she didn't diserved that many Grammy nominations, mostly for Bad Guy. The thing is I saw the rest of the nominees and ugh...
As a guy who grew up whilst Justin Bieber was getting hate and now seeing Billie Eilish get the same. I've realized that people just want to hate on popular young people. They'll try and make up reasons like the fanbase or her being "edgy" but in the end, none of that is a good enough reason to be as hateful as people are towards these artist's.
I like her music and such and what she’s doing for the mainstream, but I pretty much understand this. Her vibe could get pretty annoying, especially the “quirky, I’m edgy” vibe. The fan base (and even the anti Billie fan base) being annoying asf is a given.
I think that it would be a good idea for Billie, Janet Jackson and Lana Del Rey should make a song together. The reason why is because their voices are similar
I feel like every single episode of this can get at the source of the hate as "person hates music act because they are jealous and are not a fan of said music act." Fame and money can do a lot for a person and often people say that they think that whatever they are doing isn't that difficult and they are getting huge bucks and fame for it. We've all been haters of music acts and that's natural. We have tastes and opinions that will conflict with the public. It's ok to dislike a music act, it's ok to call them out, and it's ok to have reasons why you don't like them. The difference between disliking something and hating something is when you actively go out of your way to show your dislike for a particular thing and find as many reasons as you can to use against them. Respect is lost and that's what disliking has over hate. We have to understand that these are people. Whether they are good people that make music you don't like, bad people making music you don't like, or good people who are told to take on a personality that you don't like. There's a lot that makes music spin and how it eventually hits your ear. People work hard for their exposure. And sometimes it ends up with them in the public eye in a way that they don't like. Not saying that's the case here but just be open. Not to say every artist is innocent or a good person but you can't change what's happened or people's perceptions of said artist. Just dislike and move on. Hating something is almost always just more toxicity in the world that we don't need.
People say she hates her because she’s “too edgy” or “trying to hard” or “she’s trying to he depressed” but that’s just the music. Her personality has a whole different vibe. She stands up against racism, she absolutely loves her fans, she supports lgbtq and black lives matter, she’s so nice, she speaks out against sexism and sexualizing women, literally everything else gen z stands for. I don’t blame anyone for having an opinion but her music isn’t the only thing that defines her not should it be the only thing people judge her on.
I really enjoy her music, and her older style. Like the era of the platinum hair and yellow jumper vibe. (Though that’s just personally my clothing taste) She’s definitely changed since she’s blown up so much and so fast. I think she is creative and does things different, but she’s not my favorite artist. She went from this wacky girl with a cool personality and style to someone who wears almost exclusively designer brands and everything. You can just kinda see it and it isn’t a bad thing, but my favorite is still Don’t smile at me.
I think it's kind of stupid to hate an artist because they don't have "authentic" lyrics or something like that. A lot of the greatest classics are not "authentic". Just look at a lot of the early Beatles music. Most music artists from that time period and before then, we pretty much orchestrated entirely by the labels and companies. Music is about how the song clicks with you, so a lot of it needs to be "mainstream" or highly accessible to reach as many people as it ca. If it isn't, musicians wouldn't be able to make a good living, and in extension, the labels. Yeah, corporate labels are kind of over-controlling and such now, but that's a result of social changes and other things that the labels and, in fact, no one else, could have predicted or controlled. People these days don't understand those things because they live in their own worlds and have hardly any (or none at all) knowledge, respect, or care towards the past. And before anyone gets snooty, I'm 26, so I'm not saying these things because I'm old and stuck in the past.
I'm a diehard and died at the wool metalhead, and frankly I adore Billie's music and I genuinely think she's the most promising pop artist in a LOOOONG time.
I've never really listened to her. I tried to check out one of her songs, but it just sounded too boring for me on a production level, so I wasn't interested. I don't doubt that she's talented, but her music's just not for me.
Idc about Billie Eilish herself but I hate how people think that she's some kinda lyrical genius when there's people with similar music and (sometimes better) lyrics who just aren't as popular.
I really dig her music when she wasn't really that popular yet and then she became mainstream and a lot of group of people that i don't want to be associated with have been worshipping her but whatever i'll just support her in silence
I'm glad I watched this video. I have no reason to hate Billie Eilish no more. It's not her music that I hate, her attitude, or just her in general. It's her fans.
Hate It or Love It returns with the biggest episode I could think of...7 Reasons Why People HATE Billie Eilish! Remember ya dinguses, these are NOT my reasons, but I will weigh in with my opinions on each. Thanks for watching, leave me a like if you enjoy the video!

NGL, Pirate is a really cool middle name.
There's one point of the reason why I don't like Billie Eilish: I don't like her personality outside of her music.
You owe Taylor Swift an apology!
i’ve never really had anything against billie herself or her music i just don’t like how she’s played on “alternative rock” stations and her fans can get very annoying
SAME
I Like Trains exactly. whenever you think of alternative stations you expect like foo fighters, killers, linkin park and stuff in that range
Miles Cory sacred hearts club eh? 😂😂
@Miles Cory Yes. And since you mentioned Linkin Park, it's worth noting that the UK rock station Kerrang refused to play anything from One More Light until Chester died.
I hate how people think she’s “edgy” and “dark” and people just automatically assume she’s rock
That's really dumb. 😓
Rock!? Puh-leaz! Try Indie pop / Alt pop.

Yet people hate her. Lol, obviously I don’t but if something exists, there’s always people that hate it.

I mean when the artist is starting big, automatically there are many producer or songwritter or other artist who will aproach him/her
From the title alone:
1) She's popular
2) The 'industry plant' thing
3) Getting too much credit because of her age
4) Her vocal style
5) Her production style
6) Being played on rock/alternative stations
7) Being edgy

I hate the edgy reasoning when it comes from rock fans and metalheads in particular. They really have no room to criticize her for that when part of the essence of rock and metal is edgy, angsty, and negative music.
Heck, even Shadow the Hedgehog is way more edgy and cooler than her.

3. Her snubbing awards from other ‘deserving’ artists

Little Mix suck for this exact reason.
And if you think Billie was too young, how do you explain Lorde's early success?
@Mirage_Panzer Do you live inside her head? How can you claim to know that her depression is fake?
Ikr, alexa would sing better than than. Just uttering words, where's the singing in that.
How about you create better music and then judge her huh?
The only song is overrated is bad guy , her other songs are not overrated at all
@@carolinaferraes4982 Billie's single "Bad Guy" is the only song I am tired to hear on TikTok. Yes, the song is highly sarcastic, dry and mildly "morbid".

Lauri Saarinen agree 💯
Just bcs they made non melodious songs and sad lyrics doesn't mean they really use their passion -_-
@@GREG_Khar-NÜ-Metalhead2000 this comment is underrated.
21 pilots r basically male Billie Elish... Nd both sucks
I so hope. But not just female. Same thing goes for male artists.
Lauri Saarinen Same. I like to see artists being able to take risks and not always playing it safe
@Music Mood and Mindset I feel you, Fallen and Under My Skin were my albums in middle school, I used to think that Avril and Amy were just the coolest girls on the planet (well I still love Amy but it’s super hard to defend Avril with almost everything that she made after UMS) and they captured middle school emotions perfectly, just like Billie today (minus the rock edge of those albums), I’m glad that we’re slowly going back to that era, I Miss it so much
She is not even alternative
Her music is very much like mainstream hip hop influence
I was in the time when avril lavigne broke into mainstream and still remember that point of time where all over radio stations you could hear either bubblegum pop or rap then she just broke all of it or in the 90s when there were glam metal and synth-pop all over the radios and suddenly Nirvana came out and that is called Alternative
In the case of billie she is not even making any heavy guitar based music or rather than say grunge music which you don't hear anywhere thats why people hate her
Another reason I see her getting a lot of hate is the fact that she’s winning awards in Alternative rock. While I do agree that she’s not rock at all, that’s not a valid reason to hate her.
Yeah, same for Imagine Dragons and Coldplay.
I mean, I consider the earlier half of both band's discography to be rock, but people act like they "ruined" rock smh
Lotte Yanson We shouldn’t hate her for that. We should hate the award show for making a category like that.
Well no offense I just hate her depressed music
@@millyrosati1822 ever been depressed? Her songs truly help :)
Sure it is
I don't like pop in general.
Please don't let toxic fandom and haters to influence your liking for Billie's music.
I feel the exact same
she is not even a singer, that whispering thing gives me headaches
Please take care. I hope you're doing well right now. And also stay safe from coronavirus👍🏽
i agreed completly, alot of her fans are giving younger people with depresion a bad reputation, like those people wrighting how they can relate under her song couse they are also deprest(wich lets be real if you are depresed thats probably not how you would act) and now people say stuff like TeNaGeRs CaNt Be DePrEsD they can and they are they just too scare to talk about it becouse they dont want you thining they are emo or dark or fake it for attentin
Instructions unclear: accidentally killed myself, killed 77 people and made thousands of pregnant women have a miscarriage. What do I do now?

Assume tho

Cosmic Royale what do you dislike her for?
Xanny X i dislike her as well, and it‘s partially because her and her main audience are teenagers who are „so quirky“ and have diagnosed themselves with depression, when it is really just stress they‘ve purposefully not resolved or blown out of proportion. also because her lyrics emulate that „i’m so different and depressed, i‘m not like anyone else“ feeling.
The fact her real name is Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connel kind of reminds me of Hollyhock from Bojack Horseman and her 7 surnames lmao
Definitely an Irish name.
I love her! She can sing and her songs are great. I don’t care how popular she is. That has nothing to do with her appeal for me
I’m not a fan of her music just cause it’s not my style. But I like watching her interviews she seems like a super cool person to talk to and I appreciate her doing something different in pop mainstream

The media (especially UA-cam’s trending tab) just love to exploit this girl’s music.

These are the type of people that famous people have: Crazy fans, Mega fans, fan, Haters, Crazy haters, don't like her music but respect as a person. ;-;

For the record I do like a bass that is clear in the mix. I'm just not big on distorted 808 bass sounds. I'm more of an electric bass guitar guy.

A big reason she gets hate is because people will just dislike anything popular
Reason #8: Envy.
It’s anemia, perfect for youth with insecurities and dark moments that are not too dark.
GEN Z is horrible almost like the boomers
I'm a diehard and died at the wool metalhead, and frankly I adore Billie's music and I genuinely think she's the most promising pop artist in a LOOOONG time.
lol nice joke ...
I don’t LOVE Billie Ellish...but she has talent and I hope she stays successful
it's not the music it's the attitude, she seems really ungrateful
She does not deserve anymore hate she was finally Be coming happy..
I've never really listened to her. I tried to check out one of her songs, but it just sounded too boring for me on a production level, so I wasn't interested. I don't doubt that she's talented, but her music's just not for me.
When Billie said " "
*I felt that*
I mean there is better music I’d rather listen to, her music just doesn’t really have an effect on me
Idc about Billie Eilish herself but I hate how people think that she's some kinda lyrical genius when there's people with similar music and (sometimes better) lyrics who just aren't as popular.
Hot take: fandom shouldn’t affect your opinion about an artist
Hot take are you new here?
I really dig her music when she wasn't really that popular yet and then she became mainstream and a lot of group of people that i don't want to be associated with have been worshipping her but whatever i'll just support her in silence
I'm glad I watched this video. I have no reason to hate Billie Eilish no more. It's not her music that I hate, her attitude, or just her in general. It's her fans.
People who hate Billie Eilish have no sense of appreciating unconventional music.
