Her entire family is deep in the entertainment industry. She has undeniable access and connections. She has a marketable look, sweet voice and unique name. She was setup for success. Not hating but still... it's Hollywood people. Fabricated stardom is the name of the game.
her parents weren’t even well known actors wtf u talking about and her brother finneas had a minor role in a glee and a couple of films so i don’t really know what u people r on about
I aggreed up till you said fabricated stardom you cannot deny she has vocal skills beyond her age range her style is originally hers and her vibe is infectious there are plenty of kids who grew up in Hollywood but they don't have the same kind of talent. There's no denying that the parents invested a lot of time until their children and kept it a creative atmosphere for them and let them dive into whatever it was that called to them at a early age and today being a part of this new generation where everything is social media inclined the numbers speak for itself I just found this talented young lady 2 days ago and I'm already a fan I just love her and to be translucent call music spoke to me I can relate to the emotion and surely millions of others can too so why not instead of trying to discredit Talent by saying fabricated by Hollywood and just give her credit where credit is due and I'm not just saying this because I love her music I'm saying that because it's right we're leaving in the era where everybody is expecting women to oversexualize their selves and she stands in a category her own because she doesn't it's refreshing I am relieved that someone forces you to listen to our talent enforces you to keep your mind open to her creativity visuals that goes with her music doing all of that with all of her clothes on she has nothing but props for me it was her only being 17 and I'm 36 that's saying a lot she kind of reminds me of Alanis Morissette our unique style of clothes kind of reminds me of Aaliyah her I don't care attitude makes me think of Eminem the way that she can speak to people kind of reminds me of Linkin Park her visuals remind me of Marilyn Manson and Korn and she has this vintage feel in her voice that goes back at least 40 50 years one more even though I feel like she reminds me of all these people she still uniquely herself it's been a minute to see someone who stands out amongst the many stars I love her I can't hate I would be wrong to
Ashlee Wolfe and the industry is molding her in selling that Depressed Character look. That’s what’s selling this days with the young kids, Depression.
@@val13c59 Honestly thats what pissing me off the most, the romanticizing of mental illness angers me and people that legitimately struggle with mental health, depression is being used as a "aesthetic"
I don't think she is a fraud, she admits that her brother and her are a collaborative team. And that her parents are both actors. She isn't hiding anything or claiming she made her music by herself. You even explained why she was signed and not her brother, because of her style and marketability. I'm not a fan either. Although it is kind of sketchy being signed at that young of an age, interesting video though.
Right. This guy acts like he's exposing her but she's super open about all of this. Sure her parents and brother are musicians but that doesn't discredit her talent. Her brother co-writes her stuff. But that's helping her. You don't discredit Kanye cause chance wrote his songs for him
@@lazlo7247 nah its pretty discrediting. of all the top songs on the "charts" right now how many are written by the artist? none. this was not how music used to be and we need to purge these cancers

All these Billie Eilish fans in the comments lool. He never once said she wasn't talented. All he said was there's a possibility she's an industry plant. These the same middle schoolers that praise Billie Eilish like their religion
Yea it's pathetic but that's how the powers that be plays them. These kids are followers that can't think for themselves. I personally hate industry plants. No authenticity. And that should matter still
@jsdf. jkkejk ain't that the problem though? Bcus her music is average at best so these so called plants are the standard for what's good music. Just bcus your popular don't mean your good. It used too but not nowadays
@jsdf. jkkejk I'm not trying to shit on her like that. She has talent but she's hyped like alot of sub par artists. Idc for classical either but I understand why they loved bach or Mozart. Even in this era I get why someone would like an Adele. But this girl really seems average to me. Bad guy is just avg. It's like when nobody in the Industry is making any noise they'll hype someone up to keep the train rolling. Bcus if you look at history this has to be the worst time to be a fan of any music. Alot of it just sucks.
Are we not gonna talk about the “ocean eyes” filter on snap chat? It was her first song ever and snap chat turned it into a filter to promote it? I mean no shade to her, she and Finneas have good music but... still things that make you go hmmm.
Also, When I would open Snapchat she would always be on the front page... “Billie did this today!” “Billie showing skin!” (She’s 17 wtf?) She would be in my UA-cam recommendations. I’ve never looked her up in my life. I didn’t even know who she was. If u notice these things you know they’re getting a mainstream push. (Billie, Lizzo, Lil Nas X, etc) Also you gotta watch anyone that signs with Atlantic or Interscope.
@@evasanchez2285 I always thought it was pretty obvious that she was an “industry plant” bc of her parents. Yeah she has a huge amount of “underground” stuff and covers from back in the day that I really enjoyed from that time. A few months after ocean eyes came out, given. Edit:/ the music industry is also so predatory in ways we can’t even talk about especially to young kids. Sad IMO.
It is popular and an awesome song, but the video isn't claiming she/her brother are talentless hacks, it's claiming the image and persona are contrived.
It's her vibe. Everything about her seem's orchestrated, makes sense that her whole family are associated with the industry ... perfect for an industry plant. Especially at 13. She seems like a trained puppet, she was signed off the back of NOTHING. That doesn't happen. The fact she was thrown to the top, out of nowhere and with pretty dark songs about killing yourself and burying friends ... we all know she is being marketed to young people too which is scary asf.
I just watched a interview where she was asked a question and she said oh wow I wasnt trained for that question and further said I have answers set up already for a majority of questions that people ask me
ua-cam.com/video/B8DE6nKVmtI/v-deo.html this is the interview I was talking about were when asked who influences her musically she can fully answer and she replies that she was not trained to answer that question. The conversation on the topic starts at about 16:32 and at around 18:12 I think , is when she says those words
@@taylor3233 I think that she is an industry plant first of all but that interview literally proves nothing because every human has memorised answers to certain questions they know they're gonna get asked. For example, I'm an immigrant and many people ask me about where I'm from, how I got here, am I here to steal jobs and blow myself up. You know the usual questions that people ask me and at this point I have answers memorised due to how much I've had to answer it and repeat myself.
She really doesn’t try to hide the fact that her brother co-writes and produces all her music. You’re acting like you just unveiled a big secret that exposes her for being an industry plant but she talks about him all the time on social media and she does interviews with him and everything. I’m not even a huge Billie Eilish fan and I’ve known this for a while.
Jason Rozak but the problem is that not a lot of people know that her brother wrote almost ALL of her songs. Plus it’s basically having a ghost writer, cardi b in got exposed for having a ghost writer but look where she is now! She just won a award for best album. But nicki writes all of her music on her own and everyone is bashing her for all of these things. Everything around us is controlled
@@nightcrawler8864 this "only fact" that bothers you is also the "only fact" that he uses to justify the idea that she is an "industry plant"..... "My brother wrote my 1st real song.." ... ok. Huh?
finneas said in an interview that him and billie are a duo but he decided to label it as a solo. i know that doesnt explain the entire video but i just wanted to explain that bit
@@AmusingMusic the reason she's an industry plant isnt because she doesnt write her own music its the fact that she is basically as talented as any other 13 year old but has the aesthetic of someone who could make that record label alot of money ... it's the same thing with Jumex, If you keep up w music at all You sound stupid
i really like billie eilish but this video is really good. i feel very bad for her being forced into the industry so young. this type of fame will only lead to her being messed up on drugs or things like that. i can only hope for the best but i don’t think that she’ll end up healthy
She's definitely a plant. "It's not what you know, it's who you know" as they say. Her whole image is a complete fabrication by the record label. They're even using the high rates of depression and anxiety in the younger generation as a marketing strategy to make her "relatable," it's disgusting. Some lyrics in the song "Bury a Friend" say it all:" For the debt I owe, gotta sell my soul 'Cause I can't say no, no, I can't say no." She's a puppet on strings for the people above, just like the rest of them.
I'm not saying she's fake depressed? She probably is very depressed. I feel sorry for young artists having to grow up in that industry. They're just kids with a dream; but then the industry takes that dream and turns your life into a living hell. I've seen her in interviews saying how she hates fame, you can see the "music icon" role is really getting to her. But, the meaning of my comment was: She's marketed by the record label as the "depressed, flaky, emo/grungy girl," as they know that there is a high percentage of depressed and anxious children out there today that will find her relatable. Once you get the millions of kids around the world loving her, they'll start throwing money at her, once that happens, the record label can milk her for all she's worth.
Because his own music fucking sucked, even with his parents connections. Slap your underage sister on their and sing fake deep lyrics. Boom biggest pop star in the world
She blew up like crazy too, like one day no one talked about her or knew her and then the next day she’s every other song on the radio. I had no idea who she was until I saw a small info video on Snapchat. Then, like all of a sudden she was everywhere and everyone was talking about her. Insane
That’s what tends to happen when a label sees you’ve got a marketable look. They’re pushing the every living shit out of her, more than I’ve probably ever seen, and it’s working.
@@crossbearer6453 exactly. Everything. Form the chains, to the Durag, to the baggy clothes. Black culture is really getting stepped on just being popularized by white girls.

Thank you so much, means a lot, too many people tried to act like I just called her horrible when that's not what I did at all, I'm just using information I found and even said that I had been a fan of hers so it was hard to come to terms with it but when it's put out in front of you it's easy to see she's probably a plant
Problem is people (like me) were very intrigued in this video to see if something was gonna proven with well made points, but the points made were just super nit picky and could be easily explained. Almost every point seemed like a reach... I think Billie is cool and yeah I could totally see her being an "industry plant" but the video did not do much convincing with it's points. and i think that's why people are a bit agitated
@@YGAkira I'm sorry but I disagree I personally am not even against the idea that she was a "Plant" I'm just upset that the video did not make solid points....I just don't like it when I see very nit picky or reaching points that are a far fetched, which was what over half of this video was. Only good point that was made was her getting signed at such a young age
Austen Meza what are you stupid? Her first project was already backed by a label, her brother has ties to the industry, she got signed off a song she only performed and had no intellectual ownership over. Oh no never mind you’re right I’m the fucking idiot. I should have known record labels just pick up any kids they see making music, it’s not even a big fucking deal, not like they throw a ton of money off a calculated risk that the kid could blow up. I’m just a fucking idiot for never asking them to sign me, because it’s so easy. Not like we already know how the industry treats its artist or anything, nah. They just saw eyelash and decided to give her a shot out of the kinds of their own hearts. Not like they had an image and mold for her already. Nah that’s fucking stupid, I watch too many movies huh? Lmao seriously, I can’t imagine how much of a delusional fruitcake you are. You keep asking for evidence even though you’re too dumb to process it, and worst of all, you provide no evidence yourself as to why she isn’t a plant. What do you just have a feeling? Are you involved in the industry? Or are you just a psychic know it all? Lmao either way you’re really just an idiot, have fun being the music industries bitch, and have fun being my bitch
Okay i've watched this entire video and every argument was kind of poorly constructed. The first points you made on ocean eyes don't really fit, all those stories seem to correlate with one another. In the first interview she speaks on why the song was made, and in the second interview she speaks on how the song was made. She didn't even change any facts so I can't see how you made it a point to call her out on it, and normally liars have a prepared script they stick to so the story never changes in the slightest detail but people who tell the truth often do it from memory so details get fuzzy. Secondly her saying she made the song at 13 is also not a point, yes rappers have this code of honor where only they can write their songs or all respect is lost in their community if it isn't written by them, but the same doesn't go for singers beyonce has songwriters so does rihanna and many more so her answer is completley leggit. Your fourth point I would give you the fact that she was signed early if her parents and family weren't heavily connected in the music and entertainment industry so her early signing makes perfect sense, and for the fact that you stated the brother isn't even signed yet, billie stated in an interview that her brother wants to be an actor more so than a musician he does like making music with his band however. So for a closing statement do i believe billie gets help writing and producing her songs yes! Every singer does it's very normal but do I think she's an industry plant no, no I don't.
I think she’s a plant in the sense that she doesn’t really control her music. Interscope seemed to have grabbed her before she could have a solid foundation in the music industry and therefore have shaped and continue to shape her into what they want. Thus her hatred towards the music industry because she can’t do what she wants.
@@isaiahrichards9319 I agree with your point for some part, but my reason to comment wasn't to necessarily dispute her being a industry plant more that his points that he build his claim on just weren't solid enough for me to believe it. Your explanation is more concise than his was in the entire video. The meaning of an industry plant is someone who has a label backing them from the start (which billie has so that's a 1+ to your argument), but they act like they got their following organically. Which she doesn't, she clearly states the way she came up, every bit of info he gave in this video I knew from her interviews. Labels know they can bank on young talent. We would have to call Justin Bieber an industry plant too if we go for the guidelines set in this video. Because of her already existing connections because of family ties and her honesty towards the subject I just personally don't believe she is an industry plant by the set definition of the word.
It is interesting that with the question of who is or isn't an industry plant, no one realizes how much we as the consumers are part of the problem. We talk about how we want to support 'independent artistes', but if those same artistes decide to experiment or change direction we demand that they conform to what we want...or else. The only difference between an industry plant and an independent artiste is the person who influences their success or failure.
I mean, you could see potential in people's looks, in the sense of how they're going to look like when they grow up, how the public might react, etc. That's also how Kpop works, so I personally (as a Korean haha) am used to that kind of thing. Not out of pedophilia, just them looking out for machines that look good and be processed.
My impression is that Billie is being massively exploited by her label. I enjoy some of her music, I believe she could do a lot musically if she had the right vocal training, and see her as pretty creative. The others commenting on here don't understand that this video isn't a critique of Billie herself, but of the music industry execs behind her who are obviously using and abusing her for profit. Her brother composing her work isn't the so-called "smoking gun" on which everyone should be focused, it's the fact she was signed to a major label with only one prominent song in her repertoire (the labels *never* do this unless they're looking to plant someone). Since she's still a teenager, comes from an industry family, and is easily malleable as an artist, she's perfect plant material. One thing which I wish this video mentioned is Billie's association with the whole "SoundCloud rap" scene and whether or not that happened organically or was originally something pushed on her (it's impossible to tell honestly). She had an uncredited feature on one of the best - if not the best - rap albums of 2018. Her IG account is also filled with photos of her with artists from that milieu, and is obviously copying that whole dress aesthetic (even though her actual music doesn't really sound too much like theirs). There's a lot of speculation that, for Interscope, she's far more marketable as a sort of female equivalent to the SoundCloud boys than she'd be as a garden-variety pop star, hence her current image (for the record, I don't believe her friendships are "manufactured" at all, only that her handlers exploit her affiliations with other artists). I'm still rooting for her but I'd advise her to listen to her woke rapper friends if they start warning her about the complete fuckery of the music industry.
Chaya Bat-Tzvi she was friends with x and she’s also friend with Denzel curry highly awaken guy his whole album was about not letting the industry own you and make a clown out of you and x he was so outspoken it got him killed shit crazy
@Adriana Batya Ferro Artists' self-destruction is part of the spectacle, hence why they're outright compelled to engage in said behaviours. The capitalists who run the entertainment industry know that by publicizing their wage slaves' downward spirals it keeps their names out there and generates more interest in them as products. More reason to seize the means of production and abolish major labels. Shabbat shalom!

In the first interview, she claimed the song was made before the dance teacher event. The second claims that the song was made after her dance teacher approached her, and was specifically made for that occasion. The two stories sound similar, but are highly contradictory.
He was really reaching the entire video. I don’t really know the process labels make when signing people but yeah she did have ocean eyes blow up on SoundCloud before anything and she also always mentions her brother whenever they ask her about her songs he literally produces and writes all of her songs it’s not a secret. She’s just the face of them they’re a duo
That’s because this guys jut trying to get views. This guys saying if u come from a talented family and you have talent of your own by age 13 then your a “industry plant”. The reason record companies can find talent so fast these days is because of the internet. It’s the same thing as watching American idol and just hearing someone sing for the first time and seeing their look and knowing their going to make it. This kids an idiot
Stormey Snow don’t you see her parents literally bought her a record deal she had no music out before ocean eyes she was just a young girl from a wealthy family and plus she does say her brother helps write the music but he wrote the whole ocean eyes song and co writes the rest of her songs how much writing do you think she does in her songs probably like 30% and the rest is her brother, all she does is vocals and you better not think she directs her own videos either because she has money to get people to do everything for her she does very little compared to others it’s like an ad almost people make a product and want a way to sell it so they make an ad and they use people in the ad who they think will help sell the product which is basically what she’s doing being someone in an ad that they can profit off of because she doesn’t do shit except sing
this dude just another fuck boy trying to make money off false claims and talkin shit on real talent cause he has none! wait I lied his talent is fuck shyt and straight lies!
I won't be surprised honestly, but I'm hoping people do take it from a point of understanding that I liked her music so it's not like I'm here to shit on her, just want to ask some questions about how she got to where she is
I honestly feel bad for Billie though, as a young developing child she has been thrusted into a corrupt environment where people with ridiculous amounts of authority have free reign to take advantage of her however they choose to for profit. One example that comes to mind for me is bad guy, which is a very sexual song starring Billie Eilish, which came out just barely after she had turned 18. They were probably working on the song long before though and were just waiting for her birthday to hit to prevent a scandal.
"There's no youth culture, only masks they let you rent." - XTC "Mainstream" is obsolete in your sentence. It's all manufactured product, wrapped in an image and marketed to you. And I'm ok with that. I don't listen based on a bogus concept of cool credibility.
She came up like every other trendy pop star, She is signed bc of her looks and her voice. Just like everyone else is in the business that is relevant has rich parents that are some how related to the business. People need to remember these singers/bands are no different than actors playing a part. Given the chance for more money they will play any part.
Clooz “the look” is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Before you did have to be good looking, and confident, to get signed to a label as a mainstream artist.
T B Cox but it isn’t “me and my brother” she should say “mommy and daddy have money and connections and my brother happened to be really talented and got me to record a song for an hour and he then spent hours apon hours mixing my vocals and engineering the track. And That’s how ocean eyes was born dudesss”
Britney Speears: Mother sold her to Disney --- Industry Plant Miley Cyrus: Father Billy Ray sold her to Disney --- Industry Plant Billie Eilish: Family sold her to Label --- yeah, fits the criteria
she is def an industry plant her fans dislike this video because they expect all their favorite artists to have some "small town girl" story, that "came from nothing" or "ordinary girl" story when most of these top artists have had big connections since the beginning. I think all that depressing shit she talks about in interviews is over exaggerated, i mean she could very well be depressed but i think her demeanor is a big part to why these pre-teen girls like her so much, because they can relate.
Obviously she had a shoe in if her family are actors and her brothers also a musician, and she’s deadass from LA not a “small town” so none of her fans thought that. Yes she is privileged but idk abt industry plant bro. Also she’s literally a teenager and u just said most teenage females are dealing with depression and shit. Obviously she’s like other girls because she is exactly what most of her fans are. 17 year old low key depressed (maybe high key depressed) girls. Also her musics good af so if she was a plant idrc cuz I didn’t get attracted to her music cuz of her story i got attracted to her music cuz her music.

I mean just me, I didnt like this video because it seemed rush and faked. I dont expect an artists to have some small town girl story or came from nothing lol. Post Malone, Chance The Rapper, Travis Scott, all industry plants, all artists i enjoy. the word "industry plant" is just a clickbait. Every one in the industry is by definition an industry plant lmao. Its just sad
Laurent Sparks Its true a majority of big artists today are big because they had connections but that wouldnt make them an industry plant. An industry plant is when either the artist or label pretends that they came up organically out of nowhere instead of having money and connections behind them. Iv seen how billie talks about how she started making songs in her brothers bedroom and that may be true, but she fails to acknowledge his connections to the industry and how her label is the one that actually got ocean eyes to the mainstream in the first place. Noname young girls dont just randomly get picked up by Interscope records after their first single, thats not how it works. The description of some of her early tracks on itunes talk about how they were made in her bedroom, “bedroom production” its meant to be relatable to girls, that they can see themselves in her like shes a friend. Clairo is an industry plant and does the same thing. Im not saying billie is not good she is talented but a fact is a fact she falls under the definition of industry plant.
The stans are insufferable.... This video aged well as now there is so much evidence out there proving that she is 1,000% an industry plant. Great job!
No, i think that Simon Cowell doesn't like her because probably Simon wants his stars from A/BR got talent or TXF to be like her -salable and controversial-

Exactly. They both understand each other to a level that nobody else does so why would they not work together? He's a talented producer and she's a talented artist with star power. Her parents were actors and may have had connections. Why would you not use those connections? Do you have to be a struggling artist in order to validate your success? They talk about her having both tourette syndrome and synesthesia. The way she talks about having synesthesia never added up to me from what I know about it, as a psychology major. Nor could I find any proof that what they were calling Tourette syndrome was more likely her making silly faces of what appears to be her own free will, or her getting distracted, when seen in context of a whole video or interview. I most definitely think she is an industry plant and even would go as far as to say that these “psychosis” she is supposed to have are a part of her image to excuse what is probably closer to an ADD disorder or really just being a teenager growing up in that environment and industry.
I don't even understand how synesthesia would be relevant to most people. It's not something like perfect pitch that seems like it could help very much or helps with talent, at least from my experience in music, apart from maybe memorization of notes or sounds. It's a very interesting phenomena I guess. And to be entirely honest, it's disgusting that mental illness and depression are being used in cases like Eilish as to create an image. You have people like Lane Stayley, or Ian Curtis who struggled with, and eventually lost to depression, anxiety, addiction and with Curtis his seizures, who expressed it all in a very heartfelt and artistic way, not using it as a product to be sold to teenagers.
Mynamajeff billie has allready said a time ago that she dont want to give that depression vive anymore and if you see her at her newest interviews she is like other person and continually says that that she is like embarassed of how he was acting the past years, and i really think that she has that mental conditions like i watch her interviews and on everysingle one i noticed the tourette syndrome even with really small movementes but still perfectly noticeable to me haha
Listennaw she is a teenager. It explains all of the things that they are selling, her depression, her so called tourettes, it’s all just them excusing the fact that she is a teenager acting out.
Mister Darkness Alright I’m sure she was depressed AF but as far as the rest of her “issues”, I’ve seen the Tourette’s videos and every one looked like her just being a teenager or looking super bored. We learn about synesthesia in psych class and the way she explains it doesn’t make any sense. The Big Bang theory does it better.
Billie Eilish got signed because she looks like a really young Scarlett Johansson. She can sing fine...her brother can write...and yeah industry insider family doesn’t hurt. A 13 year old is not going to be an artist who has “paid dues”. She is a beautiful young woman and interscope can sell that. Everyone makes money, win/win for everyone. Her brother doesn’t need a deal. If he plays his cards right, he will never have to do anything but write songs for the rest of his life and collect residuals. I am a professional musician with a degree in music, who plays 250 shows per year, and teaches privately. Most of us trained musicians barely manage to pay the bills....of course my image doesn’t feed the fantasy’s of young girls, hormone bombarded young boys, and pervy old dudes. I’m old. I stumbled across her Vanity Fair interview and just heard my first couple of tunes. I think she’s got a bright future if she doesn’t burn out. She’s perfect for the young people today. It’s not my thing but she’s definitely talented. In my day everyone was worried about “selling out”...these days, it seems to be the goal! Everyone of these young artists are “industry plants”! I don’t think a 13 year old has the experience, business acumen, or maturity to reach this level of fame without a group of adults sensing she is ripe for exploitation. As I said, it seems to be the goal of artists: fame at any cost. She’s taking herself a bit too seriously from what I can tell from the interview.
James Slater Thoughtful analysis. Clapton said it back in the 80's that music then was becoming more corporate and as a result the lifespan of artists are getting shorter. It encourages a throwaway society where flash in the pan music is consumed and discarded rather than enjoyed and remembered. I personally don't think it should be accepted and normalised.
Lol no he came with assumptions, none of which were demonstrated, took two interviews that don't even contradict each other, and one bit of phrase out context to make a conclusion. Of course she's more marketable than Finneas, but unlike what he said, they also each have very different styles. As for her parents, they were nobodies in the industry. I have family friends with more connexions than that, and I didn't see anyone become a big star. But everyone loves a big conspiracy theory
@joel prince I know their current net worth but it wasn't always like that (particularly when growing up, considering their parents didn't have their bedroom of their own). Yeah, they were actors in the industry (which is not the music industry btw), but not really famous ones, like they only had very minor roles. There were already a few connections through her brother who was already solicited as a producer, but that doesn't mean she's being used and pimped. Look up how they make their music, it's still very authentic. Sure, she's being marketed a lot, which is kind of the point of a label, but again that doesn't mean it's fake
*someone gently questions the authenticity of billie eilish in an industry where plants are commonplace* stans: has no one thought about billie eilish? who’s gonna protect billie eilish? if i don’t defend her, then WHO???
For real, I feel bad for her. She seems like a genuine person, but their is no doubt that she's a plant. It's depressing that she probably has no creative control over her music.
Her brother still gets paid (maybe more than her?) but he gets to live his normal life with his gf and new dog out of the spotlight while Billie tours, suffering from the fame and depression for all of the world to see. Seems Billie is getting Britney’d
@@positiff6148 Billie will *never* endure the amount of clout and pain Britney suffered.. Don't compare her to a self-made undisputed icon who literally busted her ass and paved her own way. Quite frankly, Billie isn't fit to shine Britney's shoes.
There’s one long twitter thread about her first modelling background, her father’s political connections, her brother weird emerald eyes song similarity to Billie etc. but now’s its gome
Didn't know that. She has a nice voice but I assumed she wrote her songs because everyone acts like she's a legend and a prodigy. I feel like legend status should belong to people who poured their heart out. Not to someone who hops on their brothers lyrics. And then the "trying too hard to be edgey" music videos...I knew something was off. I kept asking myself why I wasn't feeling her music when it was emotional and a decent voice which is what I usually like.
Ki Mitchell she has said it so many times in interviews that her brother writes and/or helps her write the lyrics ti her songs. the songs are emotional because she has said that she has mental issues and she and her brother try to write that kind of songs. im not necessarily saying that she isnt an industry plant but im not saying she is one either.
That ain't even true, she writes her music TOGETHER with her brother and she even has songs she completely wrote herself. She did multiple instagram livestreams where she literally went live while writing lyrics ALONE
Ki Mitchell Troye Sivan is the one who deserves all the recognition not Billie Eilish. Troye definitely deserves way more recognition than Billie. He’s the KING. 👑
@@x-sylvr To be honest, I used to believe in that also. I was kind of a conspiracy theorist......Until I started meeting people who work in the music industry. They are normal ass people, just trying to make money off of singers/bands/rappers/etc.
What's an industry plant to you? To me a plant is someone the music industry pushes super hard to the point where its obvious they're getting an unfair boost from some ties they have or some dicks they've sucked. Which is pretty much everyone now. I can tell you who's not a plant, Denzel curry and his whole clique, odd future, and a couple others that are escaping my mind. Basically anyone who is actually decent isn't a plant lmao
@Reggie Watts yeas... and now what? People are just jealous- most of us would have done the same if we were in her shoes. No matter what, for me she still deserves the fame.
honestly, people are getting "industry plant" and "nepotism" mixed up. and then there are some claiming she's in the illuminati and faking her mental illnesses and tourette's which is just outrageous.

hate you for this Coming from an upper class family doesn’t imply that she’s a fraud or even a bad artists. Not all famous musicians start off poor. Idk why that even matters. Mozart’s dad was a famous composer too
if you look at the credits for every single one of her songs it's her brother he's the creative genius behind it all she's just a cute face in the nothing special vocals.
1.) She has always praised her brother's talent. 2.) Her brother is okay with her being in the spotlight, it's not like he's angry about it. He also makes his own music for himself, but he thinks that some songs are better suited for her voice. 3.) Her voice is actually hard to do because it's soft and breathy, it's difficult to get air let alone a note singing like this but somehow she is able to do it plus she can get those higher notes too.
RED S7VN I think her voice is pretty generic to be honest, I know I’m gonna burned at the stake for saying it, but it is. Doesn’t mean she isn’t talented but I could tell you that I’ve heard small time local artists that sound the exact same, different styles

if those people are online, a lot of those are paid shills. Paid shilling is HUGE business. It's easy and cheap to do, hell, they even have APPs that pay people to post certain things all over the internet. It was pretty easy to see that B.E. was manufactured. First of all, most people don't realize that 99% of artists DON'T write their own songs (the 1% are Rap Producers turned rappers) the music companies write the songs for people they sign. (google this yourself) Second of all: The add campaigns were madenning everywhere. See, it used to be very subtle, AND there was a few GREAT songs behind the artists that were being pushed or had some gimmick to them (i.e. how Justin Bieber was . . ."discovered") Thirdly, You'll notice when ANYONE says anything negative about said artists, they get FLOODED with "Well, AckHooAllAY" posts. Those are shills, hell, shills usually work together so one shill post would be like "person x sucks" and that post will be a marker for other shills in the office to post crafted rebuttals that you'd see. . .everywhere. I'd say that most likely 80% of comments are shill ones. Yes I stand by that. Most people use phones and can't be arsed to navigate the youtube comment function on their phone all the damn time. It's really easy to tell when people are being pushed. I've seen her being pushed in places that have NO REASON AT ALL to push her, as in wrong demographic, wrong country, wrong language etc. . .as in no one in location x would have any indication as to knowing about her at all. It's all fake. And gay. . .but, mostly fake.
@dooder Or you are just pretentious and can't actually enjoy music for what it is. I have a love for a wide range of music dating back to shit from the 30's and 40's even up til now. It's "hip" to hate on popular music so people like you love to act full of yourselves and you are probably like that old south park episode where people are smug and love the smell of their own farts after they get a hybrid car. Limiting yourself musically just because you consider yourself above other crap is just laughable and full of pretentiousness at his point. We get people like you and then the other people that love to typecast a band into a particular sound while still claiming they are fans of the band. Billie wasn't signed until after she gained a following on from posting her song on sound cloud and angel eyes was released later on. The two interviews largely are saying the same exact thing, but it's overgeneralizing it. Then again I guess putting a song your brother wrote and you sang on something like sound cloud and getting attention and then signed is somehow bad now. Jesus Christ. A ton of people have been signed and get noticed from soundcloud or youtube if htey have some talent and are marketable.
so basically, because her family is already wealthy and her brother is an amazing song writer, she's where she is now. very good to know tbh. i always compared myself to her thinking wow i should work harder... thanks for this video
Ani b hell no you should not work harder just find people who can get you higher up I’m a music producer and I always stay orginal they keep saying “oh keep pushing out content and promoting” yea some have to work harder than others but it’s not about that it’s about who you know and can get connected with. This girl right here ain’t original what so ever but she was born into a rich family therefore it “makes her rich and famous” when she barley even worked
halfway thru the video so forgive me if i miss something but yea the origin story of ocean eyes is hazy she’s been pretty upfront about abt fineas (or however u spell it) writing or at least helping with the majority of her shit. The rest of the vid is good tho
I'm a Billie Eilish fan and I kind of agree with you. I'm not hating on her. I like her music and I think she's talented but it was insane to me how fast she blew up. One minute she was just another underrated singer I listened to and the next minute she's so famous almost everyone knows her now. She was definitely given a huge push. There are many small artists who have pretty unique voices but they still ain't even close to being as big as her. My point is that if she wasn't given a huge push she will be like them; a smaller artist. Anyways, I think it's really interesting how so many famous people have sort of similar things about them. Most of them have really unique names, styles and personalities. Makes you wonder if it's really who they are or if it's just another marketing strategy. I'm probably thinking way too deep about this but man the music and film industry is so f*cked up. I wouldn't want to be famous even if I got the chance.
It's because of the record label she was signed to. Interscope something something that'a called. It's basically like, you sign to them, your music will be heard to everyone guaranteed.
Gotta agree with your theories there. I kinda liked her and her music (but I'm late 20s so possibly that's why my reaction wasn't as intense) and it didn't really bother me that she was getting pushed quite hard on social media until I just got recommended the video of her on Ellen where Dave fucking Grohl is in the audience because she's apparently such a prodigy?! That made me look into where she came from because that's not somewhere you get casually at 17... that's miles ahead of all the biggest artists. I didn't see any music legends in the audience first year Beyonce did talkshow appearances. Looked into her background and found it underwhelming for how much she is being hyped. It's not adding up.
It's all engineered. She didn't get there on her own. The industry decides who gets hyped up and promoted. Sad reality check for anyone who listens to today's pop music rubbish. It's only about money and if you support that you're lame
I appreciate your valid criticisms on industry plants, but I don't see what is contradictory about her two different interviews. You can produce a song with the same structure and melodies in wildly different ways, and her brother would have done this production after playing Ocean eyes to her (which at that point was likely just on a guitar or piano), so producing it to be suitable for her dance teacher would have happened after he wrote it for his band. Knowing that, you can't dismiss that the song was meant to be for her dance teacher despite him originally writing it for something else. Yes maybe she could have mentioned his band in both quotes but people don't tell stories the same way and sometimes naturally miss things out.
In this I think you're wrong. Firstly, knowing that most of her family are musicians and actors it's obvious that Billie isn't just a good singer by birth, she have grew up in a family of artist in which she has learned about music at a very young age. Secondly, It seems clear to me that her parents and her brother helped her in her career, so more than an industry plant it looks like a girl whose parents are well positioned in the industry and have contacts. In addition I have to say that is kinda disrespectful to say that just because his brother helped her its not his job, the songs are made by both of them and the songwrinting is directed by Billie in order to spread HER message, so It is not just his brother's talent. In conclusion, Billie is not an industry plant but a girl that fortunately have had a lot of help in her career.
At that age? doubtful. Obviously it makes more sense for them to publish the song as co-written. doesn't mean they actually sat down thinking of lyrics together... Just food for thought, maybe they did tho
@@inbal9743 okay everyone keeps talking about her age. I don't mean to sound bitchy buut I've been song writing since I was 11 and if I say so myself it was decent. Age has no correlation with talent tbh
@K X Bellyache, YSSMIAC, Copycat and many of her big songs were co written by her. Not to mention she has a huge hand in the creative process of her music videos. She is overhyped but she is definitely a capable artist tbh
I don't know. The parents had connections and the record label saw the potential and signed her before anyone else did and helped her with the marketing. Typically singers cover songs written by free lance song writers. Her brother is a singer song writer but not star material.
Every heavily promoted artist fits this description - i.e. every well known artist that is or has ever been - except the process is getting more rapid, more disturbing, involving younger and younger individuals. Well done to Progress for providing this alternative content.
@@thetruthdatedr.4766 it's because the Billie stans wouldve been at his throat since they Stan Billie SO damn HARD and most of them ( most not all) don't take well to someone even slightly questioning anything about her
Not everyone is an industry plant. only people who have connections and who's careers are fabricated by a record label. Although I like Billie Eilish's music and personality what this guy is saying is pure facts far from opinions. He presented evidence and a great explanation as to why she is an industry plant.
Juice Wlrd got signed when he literally did not even have a Spotify account or Apple Music, he only uploaded Lucid Dreams to UA-cam and Soundcloud. Record labels are always signing promising artists
We're getting into the territory of wether Lyrical lemonade creates industry plants or not, but lucid dreams was way more huge than ocean eyes which explains why he got signed.
She's young and easier too find a demographic for. I've tons of comments from girls her age wishing they were her so..a business, they saw it too. Sell the little, pretty girl to the little pretty girls. I mean, her music isn't that groundbreakijg and a lot of it sounds the same. Which is another key...same sounding songs usually indicate easy sells
i love billie and am a huge fan, more of her as a person tbh but i do like her music too! but i was fr wondering this. i cannot stop thinking about how she had that documentary made about her. those ppl were following her around for YEARSSS. before she even started to make her debut album. and she was paid $60 million or something ridiculous for it too. like how did they know she was going to blow up and be a hit? those people who recorded her every moment for yearssss were just on a whim that she would become super famous? no. there’s no way. they somehow KNEW she was going to blow up. it’s just very suspicious if you think about it.
Kind of tragic, the music industry can continue to suck the life out of her, because her brand is "depressed", no matter what she says or does nobody will question a thing even if she is suffering. It will just be "oh that's just depressed quirky Billie!". At least with people like Britney Spears we could tell something was off when she was crying for help. Now maybe Billie is actually fine but if it turns out she isn't this particular aura built around her is the perfect way to keep people from suspecting a thing. But she seems just a little too perfectly imperfect...
Beatrix Kiddo it’s that fact that other people who are original and have content that will always last and don’t have to Make a fake image aren’t the ones being promoted and credited
It isn't really the fact that most of her music is written by her brother that makes her a fraud. Plenty of talented artists have songs written for them. What makes it questionable is how her whole image is pretty much fake. Using mental health as a relatable marketing strategy so teens can "relate" to someone who probably cant even relate to the own stuff they sing about is what's wrong.
Is this actual news to you kids? This is how the music business have been run for the last 50 years or so. I know great musicians who live off of exclusively writing for other artists. The modern pop artist is just that, an artist. A performer, not necessarily a musician. It's a product to be marketed to the masses and unrelated to who wrote the song.
As someone who doesn't like her music at all, here is my take. For one, while I do believe that artist should write their own music because music to me has always been a form of self-expression, a lot of artists have ghostwriters (probably more artist than people think) so I wouldn't single her out for that. I do agree that Interscope signing her before she really became famous isn't fair. While people shouldn't just be handed contracts, I still feel like a lot of her success came from people liking her music and not just because she grew up with a silver spoon. While she did have an advantage that a lot of people don't have because of her wealth, I still feel like a lot of her success came from people liking her music. I mean while money does help artist become famous, money can't buy longevity, which while I'm not a fan of hers, she has that. Anyways one thing I do wish is that she isn't taken advantage of due to her being signed at such a young age. I don't want her to go through what Britney Spears went through.
young sells, young but "more mature than other girls" sells even more. btw this shtick was cringy back when lorde was doing it, and she actually wrote her own songs lol
Word I can't stand it. Not every artist is sad, there are tons of optimistic nihilists in the music industry. I hate how her whole message is "I'm sad life is worthless oooooohhhhh" it doesn't contribute to the world in any facet. Just makes us all more sad. I listen to songs that are sad but then lift you up, because ultimately being sad is plain dumb. Like sure we all get sad, but staying that way instead of doing something about it is a choice. Maybe if the artist she hung out with weren't all soulless slaves to the music industry she wouldn't think everyone was sad
Lord didn't try as hard and her style wasn't as forced. I definitely don't think Lorde was an industry plant and it's clear the direction of her work is her own, and she isn't as heavily pushed. Billie is the complete opposite.

Her whole image is a complete fabrication by the record label. They're even using the high rates of depression and anxiety in the younger generation as a marketing strategy to make her "relatable," it's disgusting.
Some lyrics in the song "Bury a Friend" say it all:" For the debt I owe, gotta sell my soul
'Cause I can't say no, no, I can't say no."
She's a puppet on strings for the people above, just like the rest of them.
Liv Guy this says it all
I'm not saying she's fake depressed?
Uhhuh can you stop believing this false shit and go subscribe to the fighter inside because you obviously getting this false information from her

he is not "exposing" or saying "rude" "mean" things to billie, he is describing how she is an industry plant.
watch the whole video, very good explanation, keep going bro.
Only good point that was made was her getting signed at such a young age
if you think this is a good explanation you need to get help man, and how is he NOT trying to expose her?? have u read the fucking title??
@RAFAEL MAURICIO MAMANI DELORTI wtf?
xo I totally agree
@@isaiahrichards9319 I agree with your point for some part,
but my reason to comment wasn't to necessarily dispute her being a industry plant more that his points that he build his claim on just weren't solid enough for me to believe it.
@RAFAEL MAURICIO MAMANI DELORTI Thank you, I will.
Everyone is, not just her. Uncontrollable artists are not in the mainstream because they are uncontrollable.
Aran Hesso There are still plenty of amazing non-mainstream artists, you just have to be willing to look for them.
Is not impossible that uncontrollable artists become mainstream, nirvana is one example of many.

Hollywood is ground zero for child exploitation, my guy

Of course she's more marketable than Finneas, but unlike what he said, they also each have very different styles. As for her parents, they were nobodies in the industry. Yeah, they were actors in the industry (which is not the music industry btw), but not really famous ones, like they only had very minor roles.
There were already a few connections through her brother who was already solicited as a producer, but that doesn't mean she's being used and pimped. Look up how they make their music, it's still very authentic.

Ki Mitchell
Yea I could feel something off too. Thought I was the only one cause everyone seemed to be bowing down to her.
So true
That ain't even true, she writes her music TOGETHER with her brother and she even has songs she completely wrote herself. She did multiple instagram livestreams where she literally went live while writing lyrics ALONE
Ki Mitchell Troye Sivan is the one who deserves all the recognition not Billie Eilish. Troye definitely deserves way more recognition than Billie. He’s the KING. 👑

if you look at the credits for every single one of her songs it's her brother he's the creative genius behind it all she's just a cute face in the nothing special vocals.
Mousey Wowsey lmfao, we have a teenage depressed girl over here. She’s a plant. Get over it. All she has is a “voice” she’s not creative whatsoever.

if those people are online, a lot of those are paid shills. (google this yourself)
Second of all:
The add campaigns were madenning everywhere. See, it used to be very subtle, AND there was a few GREAT songs behind the artists that were being pushed or had some gimmick to them (i.e. how Justin Bieber was . . ."discovered")
Thirdly, You'll notice when ANYONE says anything negative about said artists, they get FLOODED with "Well, AckHooAllAY" posts.
Right. You would have no control.
Nothing you said was "deep"
Her and her brother work on the music together. He is already very experienced which is why the music is so good. Doesn't mean that's a bad thing.
@@TECfan1 Case in point.
If you liked her and you are just on the bandwagon of hate... You are being inauthentic.
It's all engineered. She didn't get there on her own. The industry decides who gets hyped up and promoted. Sad reality check for anyone who listens to today's pop music rubbish. It's only about money and if you support that you're lame
Jade Medallion "if you support the music you like listening to, you're lame"
SHE BLEW UP CAUSE SHE SOLD HER SOUL WE ALL KNOW THATTT
The truth

She co wrote her songs with her brother

It isn't really the fact that most of her music is written by her brother that makes her a fraud. Plenty of talented artists have songs written for them.

TheNadasvada remember just Bieber!!?
