Forget your Bugattis, Ferraris and Zondas, if I had the money this would be number one on the list. Just epic and hats off to the owner, you're a legend!!
It would certainly stand out more in a group of hypercars!
Unreal. The car, the light.... Jonty is so excited ❤
In a Porsche too! 😉
I know this literally a Race Car being dirven on the Road, but this looks like such an experience!
It's so loud, and the steering wheel is moving so much throughout the video, keeping this under control on the road is what being a driving hero means 🤯
Was certainly an engaging drive that’s for sure! Far from relaxing, but in a good way!! 👍
Wow! Bonkers car. What an experience, one to tell the grand kids about.
Definitely! Not many people can say they’ve driven a legendary lemans car on the road!
What an amazing experience!
It was ridiculous !!!
Absolutely brilliant. What a car !!!
A racing legend!
Absolute blast of a video. The Car. The mood. The editing. 10/10
Glad you enjoyed it!
That side rear view mirror is breath taking! What a view looking out of it!! Just imagine hurling that around town.. epic!
Probably not the easiest of cars to drive around town. But so worth it for the shock on people’s faces!!
Man that is so cool! I've had the rare privileged opportunity to be side to side with a 787 at a stoplight on a warn summer day. I was not going to go out that day to fetch groceries but boy was I glad I did. Being next to one of these legends is an experience enough but driving one, now that is the stuff of dreams.
Wow, did realise anyone had put a 787 on the road. Possibly one of the best sounding race cars ever!!
I literally don't believe you, I have never seen any evidence of a road dirven 787
@@Emira_75 he's a weeb just ignore it
787 😲😲😲! Lucky...very lucky!
@@Emira_75 In Japan some race cars are tolerated on the road iirc some poeple have come across a XJ220 LM, 956 and a 767 though but that's very old stuff
How the hell did they manage to make it road legal? Amazing! 🤯
Amazing what’s possible 🫣😂
Sports prototype cars are meant supposed to be prototype cars in some shape or form, so have to be relatively road legal to be allowed to compete.
Saw this on Insta and said 'no way' out loud and came here for the full video.
Welcome 🙏
What an incredible video. Somehow captures the incredible majesty of this car.
Thank you! Good to know we did it some justice!
*Drooling for days here i love these cars*
Commentary punctuated by terror.....
Epic video... thanks for being brave..😎
What an opportunity! I almost missed this as I was scrolling it might be worth going a bit more bold with the thumbnail because people need to see this
Thanks for the note about the thumbnail! We may change it actually if it’s getting missed!
You made little mistake: All Dauers cars were also rebuild from an ex-race cars, not from scratch. Only 6 were delivered to customers, 5 of them owned by Sultan of Brunei and the last is in Sweden.
I made a 40 min video about Dauer history but damn youtube deleted it, it’s only available on vk.
Was not aware of this thanks. Had thought they were just built from scratch to homologate the race cars.
look at Dempsey Motorsports, there is information about every built Dauers car. They also got the non-production prototype from Dubai Auto Show and restore it but with tech of Porsche Gt1 98. Very interesting project, that is currently in GB, but i forgot the details.
A paradigm in motorsport.
Excellent vid! Props from CANADA!
epic car, thank u for such an amazing content
Glad you enjoy it!
Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!
amazing, wud of loved to of seen that going down the motorway 😂
😂 not what you’d normally expect to see!!
Another gem! Well done SCD 🫡
Fabulous car amazing sound a legend
Epic experience!!!!!
Once in a lifetime!
Awesome, man.
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing film.
Thanks!
This is so cool 😎
King of the road
And track!
@@scd yes indeed😅
I may be too much of a twisted mind for this, but...I'd be willing to daily this thing if I had it...and the coin to maintain it.
But it doesn't need to be literally THE very same example that ran in Le Mans, could be a replica/tribute, as true to the original as possible.
That would be incredibly hardcore! We approve of this comment greatly!! 😅
Love it ❤❤
The stuff of dreams 👍👍👍
Driving a 962 in golden hour on the road. Not sure a dream could be that good?
@@scd as you already mentioned; driving it on the Mulsanne straight
would be the way to top this 😀
Is that chassis CK6-88 or 118CK-3? When I check the '88 le Mans results, 118CK-3 got 8th, but CK6-88, which had the Kenwood livery shown here, was in 9th. Both Thompson tubs, if racingsportscars is accurate. 118CK-3 was a rebuild of the crashed factory-built 118, with a new tub but the chassis number plate was transferred, explaining its idiosyncratic serial number.
Amazing that the engine is as tractable at low speeds as it is.
Seems like a good dd to me
Bruno Giacomelli is a great people, he drive this racecar at Le Mans in 88.
Unthinkable in Germany as long as the owner isn't Porsche themselves.
But if... It would be the perfect car to make your Neighbors hate you 😅
"must it be so noisy?..."
"muss das so ein Krach machen?..."
Imagine taking this on a track day against Clio Sports and Civic Type R's 😂
Actually, imagine being on a track day and seeing one of these in your mirrors 😳
Imagine?!
Would be a bit of a shock to see this hunting you down! 😂
NORT BERT SINGER S C HARRIS 1980 PORCHE 962 C PORCHE BOXER 6 2.8 L SINGETURBO 755 HP 1755 NM 1000 KG 277 MPH ON LEMANS
Did you just say 277mph?? 😳🤯
@@scd Never did that. Lots inaccurate there (initial year, engine for a 962C, weight is pretty high, etc.)
yeah word 😀 this episode was pretty sick lol i always dreamed of having a LM race car as my daily driver 😂 lol
Who wouldn’t want to commute in an 80’s LeMans racer?? 😜
@@scd 😂 facts right lol
😍😍😍😍
Wow
Don't stick it in a hedge!
It took a lot of effort not to with the lack of grip and so much power! Thankfully it was safely returned at the end of the day.
Julio saludos
How the hell does something like this get a road certification?! And is there really any point in driving it in freezing temperatures?! Surely waiting a couple more months would have made more sense.
Anyway, spectacular car.., in Rothmans livery for me it's absolutely one of the top three most iconic race cars of all time!
Prototype series cars do have to largely be close to road legal in order to be homologated. However, the point about the freezing temperatures, if you get an opportunity to drive a 962, you take it quickly!
I’ve got the Scalextric version 😀
That’s about all most of us can afford! 😅
I want one.
Join the very long queue! 😂
How many cup holders in that car?
Comments annoying and not required for such a legend...Let's hear the engine more instead please....
nah 😒 that's boring bro, we wanna hear every single thought going through his mind while driving, we wanna know everything he's feeling in his heart as he drives,, this guy is a really good automotive journalist
There will be clips on our Instagram channel of the pure noise. But we felt the 962’s story needed to be told.
@@scd exactly, epic story tho 😅 lol
@@scd OK thank you...Nicely done video ;) It's just the story has been told numerous times in the past !! Good for newcomers!
Sad it’s not Dauer. It’s still my dream to see it on youtube on road. 0-100 2,6 s, 9,7 quarter mile and 402 kmh made mclaren looks like sissy for kids.
Maybe we’ll get hold of one in the future. Although the Dauer doesn’t have the history this one does.
😳😬🤪
What race car would you love to drive on the road? 👇
🤔 a Toyota GT ONE 😏 image that lol
787b!
Very nice, but not quite a 917.
True, but the 962 is actually more successful.
@@scd Everyone loves the raw 917, but it was the 956-962 that actually made bank for many years. More power than the 917, but more controlled because of a better chassis and aero.
2nd gear 4000
I wonder how were you even talking while trying to handle this demon on public roads....and I don't see a drop of sweat on your face 😁
It would be impossible to sweat when it was that cold in the cabin! 😂
My goodness! Do remove the microphone from your mouth next time please... I was trying to listen the motor sing at the beginning but had to turn the volume down on my phone as the voice screaming into my ears was just too much 😂
Don't take it the wrong way; just some construction criticism. Many content creator's make the same mistake (imo of course).
It would be interesting to hear the commentary from the creator, listening to their own distorted audio on any given video, and see whether or not they agree. Just a tad bit frustrating...
All good though, just had to lower the volume at points; nothing I'm not used to, keep up the great super car videos!
Schuppan made the best 962
How could this be allowed as road legal?
That cannot be legal in the UK with those exhausts sticking out the sides. Any thing that gets hot is NOT ALLOWED to extend beyond the bodywork by more than 50mm.
The pipes don’t extend out that far. The car was fully IVA’d and MOT’d, so must be road legal.
Why do Brits refuse to pronounce Porsche correctly? They do it for Peugeot, Citroen, Hyundai... but they can't say Porsche without effing it up. It has to be intentional. The question is why.
I watched some of these run at MIS in michigan. I think they had 4 turbos sinked up. Man were they fast coming into and out of turn 3 and into 4 and the straight away. Passing every other car way faster.
NO HELMET NO RESPECT THE LIFE AND NOT RESPECT THE CAR
Half an hour to work. 20-25 minutes without traffic. 45-60 minutes in ‘Rush hour’… avoiding ‘incidents’. Imagine preparing this thing for the commute and then suffering the onslaught of the grind. Both time consuming and hugely off-pissing! Not to mention recovery fees! Etc! I’d rather work from home….
