  • So why did we choose the can am Commander MAX limited? Maybe this will clear things up. Also a few likes and dislikes about the machine.

    How a company treats their customers is a huge reflection of their company overall!

    I agree with Tony.....Id rather hear your commentary. Hey Iv been following you for a while now. I tried to think of a reason why I do.......pretty simple. Your a "real" person. You don't brag. You show what you have but its obvious you worked for it so more power to ya showing off things you like. Love when you include the kids. Family life is always good. Oh and something I'm noticing that your channel is well rounded. I'm not a Ham person but it intrigues me (the cost is above my limit) and that's what brought me to you but you have had so many different things since then I'm amazed you have time to sleep.Great video. Will be looking for your next. Thanks for all you do.

    The Polaris General 4 is hands down the nicest in its class. Non of them are heavy duty and they all have their issues. Buy the one that you like the best.

    I'm picking up my brand new 2018 commander 800R DPS this Friday! I'm really excited, never owned a SxS, and definitely never owned a new machine! Just used ATVs. Thank you for the video

      Dennis, we are REALLY enjoying ours, I just wish I had done it sooner. I kinda broke our rule about debt for toys but being able to take the kids exploring with us is well worth it. I hope you enjoy and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!

    Just saw this.. Nice video and very well informed!! I have a 2017 800DPS. bought new in late 2018. Just finally driving this year... I have the EXACT brake issue.. and yes, we've done the walk of shame to see friends. Just wondering if these brake pads took care of the grindy/howly noise.. THANKS!!!

    What polaris 4 wheeler and year?
    We have had Polaris for 20+ years.
    They just keep getting better.
    Have you had a chance to try out your Visco locks on your sxs?
    Please let us know what you think👍🇺🇸

    You mentioned it gets hot. I have a little Can am 570 Renegade. It throws some major heat, mostly from the right hand side. Wearing shorts is not really an option! Can anything be done to keep it from getting so hot?

    I ordered a pioneer 1000 5 in the spring. I was promised delivery by mid summer. Never showed up . I checked out the 6 seater with ac and heat. I'm much better off. My family and dogs will be much h more comfortable.

    Design, quality and reliability wise, Polaris is comparable to Odes and Massimo. Performance wise Polaris is hard to beat. I think most Polaris sales can be attributed to massive advertising budgets, the catchy Razor name, and a big fan base who won't take the time to look at competitors. Deere and Kubota compact tractors enjoy leading market share for similar reasons, even though the Korean tractor manufacturers offer heavier, higher performing, similar or better quality, and more feature laden machines, often for less money.

    did you get the brakes sorted? sounded like your rotors had glazed over which usually happens in dusty areas. it gets between the brake pads and the rotor. machining the rotor is the best way to fix it as a new set of pads will usually just get smoothed over again by the rotor and go back to squeaking like that

    • @HamHomestead

      We put softer brake pads on and that cleared the problem up. Thankfully!

      Do you have a link to the softer pads you bought

  • @jimh712
    @jimh712 6 років тому

    Some times the brake noise comes from the leading edge of the pad and the rotor
    Kind of like finger nails on a chock board.
    Cutting the edge of the pad at a slight angle might fix the sound

    • @HamHomestead
      @HamHomestead  6 років тому

      jim h Someone else told me that also, I forgot to mention it on the video but I did put a 45 deg angle on the edges when I had them off cleaning them. Made hardly any difference much to my dismay.

      The front doesn't make noise..
      But the back does..
      Are the pads the same material..

    Hey thanks for the video the wife and I are looking at the commander and the stampede. It looks like you have car seats in the back we have two young kids as well how is the fit of car seats in the can am, this is a concern I have with the stampede rear bench. Also how are you liking it after some more time?

    • @HamHomestead
      @HamHomestead  5 років тому +1

      Sorry I did not see your comment a little sooner. The car seats actually fit really well, my only gripe is getting to the release with big hands can be a little tight. we have about 900 miles on it now, love that machine. Wish we would have made the decision to do it a long time ago. Now if I was wanting to go in more rugged terrain I would probably look at the maverick just due to better ground clearance but I am amazed at where you can take this thing, some places I would have never thought you could get through it just keeps going. All in all we are still very happy with the machine, been using it a fair amount this winter as well.

      Nice of you to take the time to send me a note back. I have been enjoying your episodes ever since I first saw you make a video about Pure Living For Life when they had announced their decision to go back on the grid.
      It is amazing how many UA-camrs will boost their viewership by putting Pure Living For Life or Wranglerstar In the title of a video on a video without ever mentioning Pure Living For Life nor Wranglerstar.
      But I was very happy to see that your video had a positive message, full of interesting and helpful advice about living on and off the grid.
      I sure would've liked to see you and your family rummaging around in that flea market a bit.
      Watch the movie on Netflix called "Little Dead Rotting Hood" and see if you can find me in the movie. (not for kids)
      Have a great summer, my friend.

    Wait untill you go for long rides and you get all the cab heat issues. and you have to spend up to 200 dollars for a heat kit

    • @HamHomestead
      @HamHomestead  5 років тому +1

      We have used it for a number of long rides, and yes the cab gets warm. In later summer we just took the window off, problem solved. We also added the console cover which helped some.

    30 years of Popo...officially done with them....if money is no object and you like working and repairing your machine rather than ride, go to Polaris. Buying my first CanAm cuz I don't see them getting towed out all the damn time. Polaris are great until around the 2500 mile mark. Central PA riding so lots of rocky tight trails...thats like 6000 miles for the desert or wide open smoother trail machines. Its like Polaris is fine with the machines as long as they make it past THEIR warranty period...never never again

    Demo rides are hard on brakes. People driving around with a foot on them. They glaze and then screech.
    Oh... Tonneau- Tah-no ;)

  • @williamrgordonjr9481
    @williamrgordonjr9481 3 роки тому

    Remember you bought a demo and you never know who drove it. people ride the brakes and so forth probably glazed them and made them a squeaky mess. Good luck with the new brakes.

      This one happened to only be ridden by the store owner. Long story there.. But this is a very common complaint with these machines.

    Let's get this out of the way. 4000 miles ain't jack. It's one oil change on a Jeep.
    I'm in the market for a SXS but I also have Jeep.
    SxS's are wildly underbuilt. To me, a lot of miles is 100,000, not 6,000.

    • @HamHomestead

    I bet since this video has been out that Can Am is scrap metal. I’d prefer a Polaris not only because it’s a superior machine. There are multiple commanders of this exact generation that are a pice of shit
