@BoxingisgoatedBoxingisgo-sy7jy Yes it is. They’ve never officially retconned it, nor have they provided any indication of their intent to do so. You dont have to accept it as canon if you dont want to, but it is 100% canon, whether you like it or not.

I believe the reason for Doc being killed without explanation was because the actor passed away in between the release of Cars & the production of Cars 2.
Sad Fact: Paul Newman (the actor who plays Doc Hudson) passed away before they were making this movie, witch is why Doc Hudson isn’t in this movie or Cars 3
Well, Doc does technically appear in Cars 3, but only in flashbacks. I hear the filmmakers dug through archives where they recorded conversations with Paul in order to get some good lines. I think one line was even taken from one of the old video games.
I do like that the bomb says "have a nice day, Sir Axlerod" just the ultimate piece of evidence that he's behind everything and how he clearly did not think this through
33:38 Flo said she had to go get herself some coolant, which is used to prevent cars' engines from overheating. Basically, she said something analogous to "Be still, my beating heart," and "I need a glass of water/I need to sit down/Somebody fan me."
As a tiny child, I didn't care for the random inclusion of a spy mission, them making Mater the main character and changing the entire plot, It was a fun movie for my age at the time and I didn't care from a movie standpoint. It was just meant to be entertaining, which was more than enough for me at that age. That's all that mattered. This movie is "fun bad" And I like it.
Also side note, although it isn’t very obvious and could’ve been done in a better way, the reason Finn McMissile puts on a respirator underwater is that he needs to supply Oxygen to the internal combustion engine in order for it to function. Unfortunately in the movie it just looks like he’s a sentient car and needs air to breathe (with lungs presumably) which contradicts the rest of the movie focusing on how the EMP Camera destroys their engines etc.
2:40 For some reason a lot of people point this out, and without thinking about it too much it sure seems odd, but actually makes a lot of sense. What do cars use to go forward? Energy, which they get from fuel. What does fuel need to burn? Oxygen. So it's actually quite brilliant imo.
As far as I know, the filmmakers did a lot of research for these movies. There are tons of references that would likely easily fly over the heads of children, but adults might catch, especially adults with experience in the motor industry. My Dad always tells me about the real world versions of some of the cars, races, and names in the films. These films actually helped me learn some stuff, and now I work with my Dad in his garage, putting that knowledge into practice.
Fun fact yet sad: Doc Hudson passed away in the second film because his voice actor Paul Newman died of lung cancer in 2008. Rest in peace to a lengendary voice actor that was a part of most of our childhoods.
11:30 No Seb, he ain't a spy, it's just that he knows the answers to these given he is a tow truck. And the American seeing that he is dying, transfered the info he was carrying on himself on to the tow truck 😅
I watched this in the theaters. When my brother discovered cars this movie was playing from the TV on a loop pretty much every day. I had to listen / watch it so many times lol. So I remember every line and scene. Also the game that came out was fun, like mario kart with guns.

"bitch ill run you over" caught me off guard 😂 also the movie is really good, but its hated because it doesn't fit within the storyline and it was random.
19:12 Just in case you didn't know, Seb, some Japanese toilets ARE actually this high-tech! They have bidets on which you can control the temperature and intensity of the water. They have white noise you can turn on so no one can hear you pooping, built-in air freshener/disinfectant, self-replacing automatic toilet seat covers, sometimes built-in seat warmers (it eliminates the annoyance and discomfort of having to sit on a cold toilet seat when you already feel cold or the weather is cold outside) and probably more things I've never heard of. I've also heard the soap to wash your hands with is really nice and smells good. I've never actually been to Japan or used a bathroom like this, but I DO know they exist and I want to try it. Regardless, the restrooms and everything else in Japan, for that matter, are known for being really clean and well-maintained, by most people's standards, and even if I don't try one of these fancy bathrooms I'd just really love to go to Japan. In comparison, one of the public bathrooms I had to use a couple of hours ago was DISGUSTINGLY filthy. There's always pee everywhere on the seat (it was a women's bathroom) there's toilet paper EVERYWHERE, sometimes there's blood smeared on the front of the toilet bowl and menstrual products half-poking out of the waste bin, which stinks enough to raise the dead, and in the stall next to the one I used (I hovered/didn't touch anything) there was a MASSIVE pile of poop (likely human) on the floor in front of the actual toilet. Why?!?!?! Are some people just a bunch of animals? At least most animals in the wild find a way to dispose of their waste, or least go in private/away from others and food/water sources. Why would an adult human take massive crap on the floor of a public bathroom?
There is a show called "Mater's Tall Tales" where Mater tells... well, tall tales. The episodes are around 3-5 minutes long so it ain't much, but worth checking out indeed!
Not a bad movie, just different than what people were expecting from a Cars movie. I thought it was a lot of fun. Cool spy movie. But i understand the criticisms.
Thanks for another reaction, Seb. One note of explanation: The apparatus in the Japanese toilet that caused Mater so much anguish is based on the highly popular Washlet. It's a specialized toilet seat that provides warmth for comfort, as well as various functions for after doing one's business. Many Japanese people use them in their homes, and they've become quite commonplace in public facilities as well. Common features include bidet, washing and drying functions. Full body wash, though, is typically not built in. 😁
Pixar totally saw the reception of the first movie and probably heard people asking to see more of the world, which is probably why this movie took some risks with everything~
If you like more of the racing side than you will love the third one more than this. As a kid tho this was one of the coolest things ever made to my brain
Same here but I did feel like there should have been more racing. They were going to do a 24h endurance race in Paris, and show leyland turbos death, but cut it. Those scenes could really have helped the movie and more people like it
I love Cars 2 so much. Maybe it's because I don't really have an interest in cars or racing 😅 But I also just love Mater so having a whole movie for him was a plus, in my opinion. I absolutely LOVE Cars and Cars 3 is visually stunning and pretty good but my least favorite out of the three. I like watching all of them with my little sister who loves cars and racing so she's always telling me what kind of car everyone is haha.
6:48 I went to Japan myself recently, (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka) and even though the flight is long, I can say it’s 100% worth it. There’s so much cool stuff to see!
30:35 - yeah, about that army. The implications there are a bit concerning. Like the fact that the WW2 Jeep character implies there was a World War 2 in the cars universe, meaning there was a Car Hitler and a Cars Holocaust.
I have funny memory when i was younger, my parents didn't want me see this movie just because guns and i was like "Come on! This is just about living vehicles, it can't be bad." they all so saw that first one but they still say like that. 😂
The tonal shift was too much for people at the time. That's why they went back to old ways in Cars 3. There is spin off called: Planes. Its quite good, albeit repeating Cars 1 story line. Still a good under dog story. Planes 2: Fire & Rescue is quite something else. Its actually my 3rd fave film in Cars universe.
I’m glad you enjoyed Cars 2!I’ve been watching it more and more recently and it’s definitely gained a soft spot for me,Though I still think the first and third are the best of the franchise,Cars 2 is still wholesome!
The racing scenes on this movie are godtier, I swear if they focused the story on a GP around the world this would be so much greater than it's current state.
Finally you reacted to this movie I’m so happy you did you should definitely watch cars 3 next week because it goes back on track to the first movie it is very funny and could get serious and emotional and also they talk about doc Hudson a lot in the film so please watch it next week

As someone who lives in Japan. The bathroom drama Matter has with the toilets here is 100% accurate. Lmao. My foreign friends who have used them had similar experiences.
I feel like you didn't really understand the main thing what this film is about. Lemon cars with Sir Axelrod as their leader own a big oil buissness, but their sales dropped because of alternative fuels. That's why Axelrod decided to develop another Alternative fuel, but make it explode when it's affected by electromagnetic pulse and create the race series-World Grand Prix in which the drivers use Allinoil, make them explode to make alternative fuels look bad so their sales skyrocket again.

Bro as a kid i loved this movie so much to the point that i watched the dvd everyday 😂 and got the games for my wii and ds and the toys idk why it got hate and never knew why i thought it was one of the best and most fun Pixar movies for cars ❤
You know the craziest thing, is that there was a Trains movie in the works that would delv into the gritty mature tone on the franchise following a subway train in New York but it was scrapped because you know, Disney PG rules.
2:40 of course he needs air…do you have a bit of knowledge about how engines work? Ill’ sum it up for you, you need air + petrol/ diesel to make an engine running. Air fuel mixture gets in the cylinder when the intake valves are open pushing the piston down, the intake valves close making the combustion chamber completely hermetic, then the piston moves again in the opposite direction going to top dead center compressing the fuel mixture, the temperature rises until the piston it’s now in top dead center, the spark plug then ignites the fuel pushing the piston down again, in the final part of the process the piston goes up again pushing the residual gases out the combustion chamber which is now not hermetic anymore since the exhaust valves are now open. So that’s pretty accurate, without air he would have died I guess
Don't underestimate the value of a true friend. Can't tell if Seb was joking or not, but a true friend is worth far more than a husband or wife. Ideally, your spouse is ALSO a true friend, but if they're not, you're better off not having never married them. Take it from someone who compromised their values to be in a romantic relationship; it's not worth it. I've been single ever since she left, but afterwards, I've also found a true friend that I trust implicitly. The difference is night and day. I'd take a real, true platonic friendship over a hot and steamy romantic relationship any day. Infatuation and that "falling in love" feeling always fades, but a true friendship will last a lifetime.
I love this movie plus I expected for the second movie to be about Mater cause he carried the first one, so I didn’t care if the movie was about Mater :)

The Italy race track is actually the same one from Iron Man 2.
Turbo: “This is bigger than anything we’ve ever seen. And nobody even knows it exists!”
Seb: “The Sun?”
😂
Just incase anyone didn’t know Doc Hudsons Voice Actor Paul Newman Passed away after they made the first cars movie in 2006 which is why he wasnt in Cars 2/3
2008 is when he died
Finally, you watched it, i'm so happy i grew up with the cars franchise
Cars 3 is absolutely amazing, I definitely recommend you to watch it
Like I said, Cars 2 felt more like a spinoff rather than a sequel, but it's still pretty good
2011: Everything's voice activated these days
2023: Ha! Bitch please!
Larry the Cable Guy who voiced Mater, said that for this one he did all his own stunts!
You NEED to do Cars 3!! It’s so good!!
I loved that Mater used the disguise machine as a toy instead of being sensible with it 😂.
So that’s pretty accurate, without air he would have died I guess
i cant wait for you to watch cars 3. it really challenges cars 1 for the best movie in the trilogy. but cars 1 is soooo nostalgic.
One of my favorite classic movies series 🎥
I love this movie plus I expected for the second movie to be about Mater cause he carried the first one, so I didn’t care if the movie was about Mater :)
5:37 had me dying😂
So.. I hate being one of these people but.. Just wondering, since the finale of Loki S2 dropped yesterday (for me), have you considered reacting to the 2nd season soon..? 👀👀 It's peak MCU and you're my favourite reaction channel, so if you see this, just wanted to ask. Love your channel!
Згідна з вами
29:51, you probably missed it but the low pitched Wilhelm Scream was briefly heard
Arrest that man, and lock him away! Haha! I love sebs throwbacks to older reactions😂😂
@sebscreen fun fact doc hudsons voice actor passed away during the making of cars 2 so he wasnt in it R.I.P Paul Newman
This video was a lot of fun it was quite nice to check out this channel again since 8 years ago
The 3rd one is my favourite, its got a lot of heart in it
29:00 good Johnny English reference there
"Lemon" is a kind of N word in the car universe
13:52, first i was like, how can you watch when you dont like racing cars, but once he said this i knew he didnt know anything about race cars haha
The only thing I liked about this movie is the pistachio joke, other than that, hmmmmmm…
No
I think, THINK, that the secind race location is based off of the Monaco Grand Prix which is in Monaco. It's the scond smallest "sovereign state" in the world.
This movie compared to the others was so random but it was so good 😂😂
Finally I get to see seb react to my favorite movie 😁🫡👏🏻👏🏻
