The siphon starter is something every fish room needs !! I siphon my tanks into a garbage bucket with a sump pump inside. Then I run the pump discharge into my laundry sink .. I can add multiple siphons in my larger tanks for a faster draining. Keep up the good work Steve
Great video, learned a lot. I will do one on my system for big tanks sometime in the future. Mine incorporates a sump pump that is dropped in the tank for a water change when I am not doing a gravel clean. With gravel clean, I siphon the vacuumed water into a 30 gallon drum (on wheels) and drop the sump pump into the drum to pump the water to my drain.
Wow good build very awesome, Joey has some competition lol. I love the primer effect to totally eradicate sucking on a hose and possibly getting a mouthful of tank water. Good job Steve.
Ha, I watch Dustin too! "Gary don't carry!" or should we say Steve don't carry. I got some great ideas from those fish room videos too for my drain and fill hoses. Great job on the video as always.
brah you are living the dream right now. Saw one of these on Mr. Mann's channel and have wanted to do it ever since. My first plan may have been a little extravagant so I shied away. But that siphon starter though...
You can setup a bypass for better flow. Check out kits designed to siphon fuel and other volatile liquids. You can start the siphon with the bulb, once started, shut the valve to the bulb, and open the valve for free-flow. Works great! Maybe it will be my first YT vid.
I hate having to create a siphon by sucking and I also hate having to use buckets. However, unfortunately, I a) don't have a drain close to me and b) the kicker is I have hard wood floors any suggestions?
I use really long vinyl tubing and just use the siphon pump from gravel vacuums. I run the tubing in the tank and keep it there with the hose attachment that comes with most gravel vacs these days, then i run the tubing out my garage and into my driveway along the edge. then i use a separate vinyl tubing to run water from my upstairs bathroom faucet down the basement stairs and into the aquariums. Takes more time than I would like to spend standing at a faucet. But ill eventually figure out how to leave the hose end at the faucet. Its kind of like a home made Python system, it just doesnt thread into my faucet so i just use a large funnel to collect the running water. Hope that helps give some insight on how to tackle your issue. good luck =)
Why do people suck on hoses? All you have to do is hook the hose to a sink and turn on the water. Once water runs into the tank go back to the sink and unscrew the other end. Water will drain out.

Totally worth it. Just keep it simple.

Man that is awesome.

+Steve Poland Cichlids so the tube goes straight to your floor drain?
I have a system of PVC that all drains into the floor drain and I just tied into that.

hello sir, i just wanna wondering that is that possible to stabilize the fish at the center of the fish tank?
Great idea. What size pvc do you use? 1" or 3/4"?
I have mixed impressions with my siphon starter. Where did you get yours?

Can you put in the comments ot description off all the parts used thanks or shoe how you make it
Yes I think this is real clever question # if u could do that plz #
you look like gary neville. love the content.
thanks for sharing
does anyone know of a inline electric pump. I see impeller style that you can use on a drill.
great info
Can you give me all the things needed?, pvp size?
Why do people suck on hoses? All you have to do is hook the hose to a sink and turn on the water. Once water runs into the tank go back to the sink and unscrew the other end. Water will drain out.
Because sucking on the hose takes 2 seconds and doing all that could take forever
1. Time
2. Tap water can be very dangerous for some aquariums (chlorine and heavy metals)
3. Some people don't have a sink nearby
4. Lots more work
@@FAKE-NAME Yes it does. I do it with my shower.
