Hi Jay... 2nd video in short time..looks like you are catching up with your targets :P
Just wanted to Ask you 2 questions-
    1) Heard somewhere that even Ashok was kind of king who has persecuted Jain Monks and Brahmins. Here also , Pushyamitra shung is assumed to persecute Buddhists. Do you feel that in ancient India these rivalry ever existed between various sects? or India was really a tolerant place which is claimed by many scholars?
    2) If Patliputra was capital of many popular dyansty, do we have evidence of any palace or royal place found there
All the best for future videos.. I do enjoy watching :)

    • @JayVardhanSingh
      @JayVardhanSingh  3 роки тому +7

      Hi Saurabh,
About your first question, it is in the Buddhist texts, Ashoka has been portrayed the evil acts which he used to do is mentioned. But it is generally believed that these acts are exaggerated in order to show how bad or evil Ashoka was before his conversion to Buddhism.
On the animosity between different sects. There're are instances where we can find a sense of animosity between different sects. But this was mainly restricted to verbal opposition where it is the doctrines of sects that were attacked not the people who followed them. Although you can find some cases where violence was also committed but I believe these were exceptions, not the rule.
About the second question, yes archaeological excavation in 1895 and 1912 in Patna that happened has revealed a number of monuments. Here you can read more about it crossasia-repository.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/3331/1/Modi_Ancient%20Pataliputra.pdf
And thanks for watching my videos, I am truly grateful.

The British East India company destroyed many fortified cities across Bihar - whose history is not even known by most of us.
Baksar was one of most highly fortified cities of the world. Similarly, many such fortified cities are described across Bihar.
Patna also has remains of fortification across it's coastline on ganga.
The place called kumhrar is said to be the place of mauryan royalty - many ruins were found or just say that the British likely reduced evrything to ruins during their rule.
The so called bengal army was largely recruited from Bihar and Eastern UP - you will be hard pressed to find any Bengali name amongst sepoys.
And after 1857 war, from 1861 onwards the British started degenrating and labelling many rebellious clans as lower castes. The caste system was indeed a British. The various jaatis were previously classified in just 4 varnas or 4 races.

As per my knowledge Shunga dynasty rulled for around 100 years. And Pushyamitra, his sons Agnimitra and Vasumitra, defeated Demetrius and Minader. This is mentioned in Veer Savarkar's book, Six glorious epochs of Indian history. Buddhist monks supported the Greek invaders, that's why Pushyamitra killed Mouryan emperor. But Buddhist text claims that Minander defeated Shungas. How is it possible?

Critical question arises if Ashoka was Buddhist or not. First Asoka name is assigned recently. Name in inscriptions is Devnpriya, which is an adjective not noun. Deb’s were pushed out of Persian Arachosia in Xeroxes times. Devpriya’s archeology hass all Persian roots. His edits like reducing meat are in line of early orthodox Zoroastrian. Name Mathura is derived from Persian Mithra not Vedic Mitra. Parthian replaced Mauryan with in 50 to 70 years in Punjab. Mauryan had less control over Indus than Persian.
All this brings our focus to initial question if Ashok was Aryan like East Iranians and Sungha was Scythian who had no grudge against Buddhists. In fact Budha himself was famous as Saka muni or Scythian sage. Brahmin were part of Scythian , Mede and Persian societies but their meaning of Brahmin wasn’t same what it is today in Hinduism.

@@JayVardhanSingh I have read a lot of pages and books. Only inscription with Asoka name is found in South. No Asok is mentioned in any northern inscription. Fact of matter is that British could not find whose inscriptions were those for first decades after Brahmi and Kharosti decipherment. Then a letter from Sri Lanka suggested that Devpriya might be Asok. That makes it only 150 years. Relatively recent for your kind knowledge
If anyone in India would had any clue British didn’t need to scratch their heads for 100’s years.

Indo-Greeks were friends with the Maurya dynasty from Chandragupta's reign until Pushyamitra back-stabbed last Mauryan king, Brihadratha. Geek king, Menander( embraced Buddhism) invaded India against Pushyamitra as he killed a Brihadratha who was a Buddhist King. No other attack by Greeks recorded before that. So saying that Pushyamitra saved Indians from foreign attacks was not valid...he took the opportunity and ceased power.... because kingdom didn't stay together and started to fall apart.
