Removal and Replacement of Window Winder Handle

Tips and tricks on how to take off the window regular handle on a manual opening window on your car. Also how to put the handle back on. How to fit install the handle. Helpful when you don't have the special removal tool.

I had this problem and came to your video for some help, was about to start taping it to a screwdriver when I decided to clip it on to the handle part fully and tried pushing it on. It cliped straight back on no problem. Thanks.

Thanks for your help, Mark! ..... I actually found the clip on the back seat of my car but didn't know where the heck it had come from, so I checked on Google images and found a look-alike clip and realised what it was. I had just had a garage guy doing an external paint job just below the rear offside window. I then went out to the car and checked both window winders, and, guess what, both worked normally, so the only thing I can think of was that maybe when he opened the window to save getting paint spray on the glass, he could have replaced the original clip as it could have been faulty and left it on the back seat! ... I am repairing pretty much everything on my Jaguars, but that window winder handle of my E2000 threw me. I had to idea how to tackle that. Now I know. Thanks.

Usually can just put the clip in place on the handle and pop the whole thing back on. Or cut a slot to fit the wire in the end of a plastic or wooden dowel rod and use that to push it in... I used a stick I broke off of plant by my driveway once for something similar....

it is usually not a problem putting the clip back in. just put it on the handle in the groove and put the crank handle on the shaft then smack the handle with the palm of your hand. the spring clip will expand enough to get the handle on.

Getting it back on is the simplest thing. Stick the click into the handle side and then line up the handle and push it back on. It's not fiddly at all.

To reinstall, just put the clip back in the handle and press the handle back on. Done.

Yeah it only happened in one attempt as u hv already taken the door card off. Miracle will be if it sits in 1st attempt when door card is fitted👍🙂

Hey you do realise when you need to put the window winder back on, just put the clip all the way back on the winder, then push the window winder back on and the clip will automatically go back in to place.

Javs Cuz -- is right, they are reuseable. Just tried his method I squeezed the clip with some needle nosed pliers (too make it original size).... then install the clip fully. Then slowly push it onto the grooved-stud.... it locks into place. It works very good. Saved me $3 plus tax from the parts store. Thanks Javs Cuz !!!

Why don't you put the clip on the window crank while it's off and then you just push the window crank on until it clicks
