22:40 funny you mention that: the Corlys actor explained in an interview that they filmed a slightly longer bit, that Corlys is so embarrassed that Laenor is weeping over his dead love in front of everyone that he eventually walks over and physically drags him to his feet, shoves/drags him to the front of the room, and essentially says “screw it! We’ll do it live! No more distractions, no seven days of feasting, get the priest and we’ll marry them right here and now!” - actor thinks they cut it because they feared it made Corlys too unsympathetic

In my view sir criston loves Reynera, and that justifies his oath breaking. But she picks the kingdom over him. He gave up the only thing to his name, his honor, for her. And now it means nothing, jeoffrey kind of mocks it when he talks about their secret. And that pushes him way over the edge.

18:34 this is the first time we’ve ever seen “Dance” as an art form in this franchise. Books aren’t a visual medium so they can’t really describe them, and they just didn’t come up in the narrative in Game of Thrones (corresponding book sections didn’t have dance scenes). So director Clare Kilner talked in behind the scenes videos that this episode confronted them with the question, “what the heck do dance styles look like in this fantasy world?” -they had to revise it multiple times. Have you ever seen that show “the Tudors”? Lot of medieval ball dances in that - but it’s based on real life so we have records of what those were like.

16:03 First cousin marriage isn’t considered incest in Westeros ( even before the Targaryens) - Tywin married his first cousin, and Ned Stark’s parents were first cousins. And this isn’t even a first cousin marriage: Viserys and Rhaenys are first cousins, thus Laenor is Rhaenyra’s second cousin.

  • @havok6280

Fans are actually really annoyed that Benioff and Weiss introduced referring to homosexuals as “pillow biters” that’s not in the books, and is actually very modern 20th century British slang. They don’t use that slang again in House of the Dragon ( though of course “gay” is also a modern slang term) - basically it sounded like people in Westeros calling each other “dude” - only worse because it’s specific British modern slang, like “chav” or “kilo”
