15:17 the thing is, Aegon really _isn’t_ “Joffrey 2.0” - he’s a bit of a brat but he’s not an idiot, nor a particular sadist or scheming - last episode he was apathetic about claiming the throne; so long as he can go on drinking and pinching servant girls he couldn’t care less about challenging Rhaenyra as heir.

  • @Redfield982

Dragons don’t pass from parent to child. There’s no hierarchy. Daemon rides Rhaenys’ father’s dragon, Caraxes. Rhaenys rides Daemon’s mother’s dragon, Meleys. Daemon’s father’s dragon was Vhagar. Any Targaeryan can claim any dragon. Laena and Baela had no right to claim Vhagar any more than Aemond did.
Aemond didn’t do anything wrong in claiming Vhagar.

Additional info: Vhagar was the second largest dragon in the history of House Targaryen. In the Histories and Lore series that you've watched, they explained that she was originally rode by Visenya Targaryen, one of the Conqueror's sister-wives. At the time of HOTD, she was the only remaining dragon from the Conquest, the greatest and most formidable dragon alive.

just watched ur ep6 and u release 7 great timing
    edit after watching:
Daemon is a very traditional Targaryen, he wanted to stay in Essos to get access to books from old valyrian dragonlords and thus further increase his knowledge of magic and lore of his ancestors. He married Rhaenyra in this first depiction of traditional valyrian wedding, non ironically because family and blood are directly correlated to their power and (magical) influence on dragons. Notice how many childbirth deaths are happening during this time of abundance of magic and dragons (compared to GoT). Once youre done watching season one I recommend a video by David Lightbringer where he decodes a song Daemon will sing on ep10 that goes into detail of what im saying (title of the video is: "The Meaning of the 3 Headed Dragon: Daemon's Song Decoded").
Sorry for this long paragraph, hope you enjoy the last episodes and get super hyped for the next season (will be a banger) !!! 🖤💚🖤💚

      @CaptainPikeachu 3 місяці тому +1

The “sharply questioned” is a manipulation tactic, to force Alicent to reveal herself in order to protect her son. People don’t seem to understand this. Rhaenyra is playing politics. It was obvious that Viserys would never actually do torture to Aemond, the point was to put the threat out there to unsettle and unnerve Alicent into making a mistake. This is court politics and Rhaenyra is trying to protect the lives of HER children.

      That so?
What was that thing... Viserys said about perception being more important than truth?
To everyone there, including Alicent then Thats a difference without a distinction.
And it still means Rhaenyra wants to be seen as someone willing to have their maimed little brother tortured even if wouldnt go through it. Still no proof it wasnt sincerely meant. It definitely was a serious demand on her part in the text
Do we know Viserys wouldnt, and did everyone know that? Sofar he has mostly let Rhaenyra have her way. Alicent knows this
And like.. did Viserys... Actually seem all that concerned and bothered by Aemond's injury?

He should have disinherited her, literally any king except him who refuses to hold her for her actions would have done that.
Rhaenyra wasnt ten btw, Aemond was.
Rhaenyra was a woman grown at that point in Westeros. And still she just wont do her duties and sees herself above it and traditions. Despite Viserys teaching her the ruler isnt
Nah, Alicent was right when she called out Rhaenyra and Rhaenyras response was just.. pathetic.. "Now they see you as you truly..."
What? As a mother who snapped after refused justice for her mutilated child?
Literally any patent would have snapped and lashed out. If Rhaenyra had one of her sons mutilated, lost an eye..? She wouldnt have pulled a dagger. She would have gotten her dragon. That Definitely would have shown who she truly is i suppose

For me, the standouts in this episode were Alicent, Aemond, and Aegon.
I felt incredibly sorry for Alicent. All these years she has taken care of the king and the family, keeping up appearances and caring for the Targaryen reputation, and in the end her husband calls her Emma. When Aemond's eye was cut out, Viserys didn't even punish Lucerys and Jace. Any mother would go crazy if someone hurt her child. And yes, everyone perceives Aegon as a frivolous drunkard, and he delivered his line so unexpectedly beautifully, because yes, everyone knows the truth.
By the way, it is curious that Rhaenyra accused the bleeding Aemond of treason, which is punishable by death. After this, the queen lost her mind, and Aemond realized for the first time that the only person who protects him is his mother. His father doesn't care about him.

14:39 Who calls Rhaenyra's children bastards and Alicent, Aemond looks at her but won't say it was his mother because he likes his mother, Aemond doesn't like his brother Aegon so he says it was Aegon who keeps calling Rhaenyra's children of bastards but it is actually Alicent who focuses on saying that Rhaenyra's children are bastards, Alicent is very lucky that she is dead as she attacked the heir to the throne more like viserys and a weakling so nothing happened to Alicent
This episode was wonderful, the only problem is that the beach scene is very dark, they didn't learn from Game of Thrones, Daemon laughed because corlys' brother was talking bad about Rhaenyra's children look at Rhaenyra's reaction how uncomfortable she is in scene
22:41 Daemon and Rhaenyra's wedding scene was so beautiful During the wedding ceremony, Daemon and Rhaenyra drew two Valyrian glyphs on each other's foreheads, meaning "Fire" and "Blood" - the words of House Targaryen 🔥
Viserys said in episode 4 that they are both dragons and restless, Rhaenyra always loved Daemon as Daemon always loved Rhaenyra, this is what is said in the book and also and only in the first episode did we realize the connection between the two, as actors Emma and Matt said that Daemon and Rhaenyra were made to burn together is that they love each other Yes they are marrying for love they both love each other they always have
We customs of the Velaryon Family when a person dies they throw the body in the water it is their family custom, In the Targaryen Family when a person dies in the family they burn the body it is their custom too, each family has their custom

I dunno I know there is more at play here but at the end of the day I don't feel bad about being weirded out watching an uncle make out with his younger niece 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm sorry if that bothers you!

Alicent was complicit of the murder of the Strongs. She could very well punish him, tell the king etc but she didn't because she thinks he's useful to her plans. So she can't really talk about ~~moral values~~, she and Rhaenyra are flawed.

      What?
It was an idle thought, just like "wont someone rid me of this meddlesome priest"
And she couldnt have prevented it, having no idea it was being done

And what exactly do you think she should‘ve told the king? „Hey Hubby, I made an off hand comment about wanting my Dad back to Larys Strong and then Lord Lyonel and Harwin Strong died, sooo I think Larys killed them. No, I don‘t have any evidence for this, just trust me. Let’s alienate the great Lords even further.“ Yeah, I‘m sure that would have gone over well. The only real option she had was setting Ser Criston on him and hope he‘s subtle enough that it can‘t be traced back to them and I think you see the issue.

@@n.n.5293 You don't need modern style evidence. The queen's word is enough to condemn a man.

@@gunkulator1 in some instances, yes. But that would require Viserys to be willing to actually do something _for_ Alicent, which he by that point had clearly shown he wasn‘t. Like sure, he’ll sweep a very embarassing family feud under the rug instead of trying to punish either party, but actually, actively doing something that would alienate a significant portion of the realm if not all of it? For his nurse, broodmare and maid? Not likely. If she wants something from him she‘ll need to present him with insurmountable evidence.
(Note that I do not see Alicent like the three derogatory terms I used above, but Viserys very clearly does. He reacts insulted whenever she asks anything of him. It is very much a stretch to think this one would be different.)

@@n.n.5293 You could make the same argument that Viserys doesn't actively do anything for Rhaenyra either, even when she's attacked with a knife in front of a dozen witnesses. Alicent should have been executed for that. This is a quite a bit more than just sweeping an embarrassing family feud under the rug. The subtext of his refusal to stand up for his daughter and heir is that this emboldens Otto to go forward with his plans to steal the throne. Viserys won't allow the truth to be spoken but he also won't do anything at all against his wife and sons, even for his daughter and heir.
But outside of this blind spot regarding his family, there's no evidence that Viserys won't act. In particular, Viserys had a very good relationship with Lyonel Strong and so would be more than eager to punish his murderer if he heard evidence of who that is.
