Btw, it's not pronounced "Gatsu," that's due to the phonetical limitations of the Japanese language attempting to pronounce the German name, "Götz."

Berserk saved my life. First as a child and then as an adult. As a child, I experienced intense trauma that left me scarred both physically and psychologically for decades. When I was seven, the iconic cover art of Berserk gave shape to the pain in my mind and allowed me to remain semi-stable for years. When I finally started to break down from hiding it for years, I found hope in Berserk's pages in my early twenties. And now, going on thirty, I'm about to marry a woman who I first bonded with over our shared love for Berserk.
Miura left a legacy of being able to find hope in even the darkest times. The struggle to overcome and to keep moving forward is what he left for many of us. I owe a great deal of my very survival to this masterpiece series that will live up to its very creator's message that he embodied by outliving the genius who gave life and hope to so many people who waded through an ocean of blood and ink in its pages for over thirty years. Berserk may seem like a series that espouses hopelessness and nihilism due the nightmarish imagery and frequent depictions of characters in the depths of despair and witnessing the worst of mankind, but it is in the footsteps of Guts as he took fate into his own hands that we see the ability to rise above fate, above death, above hope, above hate through the hulking figure of Guts, someone marked for death from the moment he was born. He looks like a raging beast, but he is an embodiment of willpower and hope.

I became crippled in 2020. The line: "You're going to be alright. You just stumbled over a stone in the road. It means nothing. Your goal lies far beyond this, doesn't it? I'm sure you'll overcome this. You'll walk again...soon." REALLY resonated with me and was a big motivator to free myself from being trapped in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I still can't walk very far, or without a cane, but I never thought I would be able to stand up at all. In a funny way, I am sure that had I not come across Berserk, I'd still be bound to that wheelchair.
The saga that Miura began has truly made such an impact on the lives of many.
The struggle that the characters endure and contend with is truly inspiring.

@@ultraderpus Thank you my friend. Unfortunately, my physical condition is as good as it gets considering the damage done... I have had to give up on so many dreams, hiking is one of many of those dreams. But that being said, I'm not miserable about it. I've discovered that what I can't do physically anymore, I make up for in other aspects of life.

I feel you on this. I got injured in early 2021 (could be connected to a connective tissue disorder... still trying to figure it out), and it's hard for me to walk without a cane and braces.
It takes time, mourning the things you might not be able to do again and dealing with the pain, but keep struggling. Maybe collect some cool af canes if that's your thing, who knows, but be a Struggler.

I think that it's interesting Guts has such a calm theme when he's known for his violent tendacies and brutality. This theme is always played whenever he has a moment to breath, which in his world, is not often. But I think that's what makes it so.powerful. No matter how ruthless and powerful he is in battle, he is still human, and very likely to die in every encounter. The few times he does have a moment to himself, are some of the most emotional. This cover is exceptional.
The best way I've ever heard Guts' theme described is that it sounds human. Because at the end of it all, that's what Guts is. He's just a man, a highly skilled and strong man but a man nonetheless, who has to fight unknowable beings on the daily. All for the sake of revenge, but also to protect the people who he truly cares about.
Guts is a struggler, he didn't choose, he was given a destiny and he struggles against it as hard as he can, he is not violent, he is as violent as his destiny has made him to be but in his core he is this song of melancholy and hope

@@wrimbo2883 Another mangaka who had private conversations with Miura for the last 15 years about where he wanted to take the story, what characters and plot points he wanted to introduce, etc. They've stated that they're not adding anything that didn't come straight from Miuras mouth or his notes/designs. They're doing everything in the most sensible/respectful way possible.
Everytime I hear Guts theme I get reminded of the scene after his fight with Grunbeld , in which he regains control of himself and goes to save Casca and Farnese , after he's saved them he gives them that warm smile filled with pain and relief . Absolutely love that panel of Guts
I always think of the scene where he finally lets Farnese, Serpico, and Isidro help him after he’s been defending both himself and Casca against demons basically without sleep for a week. After so long and so much pain, he finally lets others in. To trust them, just a little bit, and not push them away out of fear they’ll die or betray him. Probably my favorite scene in the series.

Неплохо, но как по мне оригинал лучше, а вот кавер на Forces мне кажется был бы очень даже хорош. Познакомился с Берсерком благодаря Папичу) Хотя я раньше часто слышал эту песню, но никогда мне не приходило в голову, что она из старого, культового аниме. И вообще музыка в Берсерке очень нетипична для аниме, но от этого только лучше, это как глоток свежего воздуха. Я представил, как круто было бы слушать эту песню, лежа на крыше и смотря на ночное небо, как Гатс в каком-то эпизоде. Теперь жду хорошего звездного неба, чтобы сделать это и жестко кайфануть)

My life was changed by Kentaro Miura with his manga "Berserk" I can't express in words how grateful I am to him, but every time I feel that things get difficult what makes me get up and not give up is simply remembering everything Guts went through and it makes me grateful and happy to be alive.
Honestly, if I could, I would have loved to have been friends with Guts.
It's about not giving up no matter how painful it is and one day accepting everything and being at peace.
It may seem silly, but after Kentaro's death I always go through my daily stuff thinking about him and I will live the most of my life in honor of him who gave me a "light" again.
Another manga that also occupies my top 1 is "Vagabond" by Takehiko Inoue. I recommend everyone who liked Berserk to read it.

I'm happy there's been a resurgence of Berserk covers, the manga is something I always find myself going back and rereading. Not just for the deeply crafted story but the art and how beautiful/horrifying it can be.
Susumu Hirasawa is one of the most inventive musicians I've ever heard, his albums are so experimental and engaging. I will always appreciate any company who hires him to compose for their projects, he brings an energy entirely his own wherever he goes. Thanks for the wonderful cover of his beautiful work.

I'll never forget being 12 years old in 2010, awake late one summer night, and stumbling upon some terrible upload of the original Berserk anime. Hirasawa completely captured me. He was absolutely fantastic with the late Satoshi Kon as well, Paprika rocks.
Amazing. Makes me emotional honestly. After 4 years of endless crap I finally started my career this past week. Honestly when I got the news about Beserk coming back kind felt poetic since through it all my struggles started to pay off. I've still got 4 or more years before I get my real end goal job but I'm in the field working hard.

One important moment from my life connects me with this song. To this tune, I mentally accompanied one of my dogs on his last journey (I was informed of her death while I was away). Now every time I hear this melody, tears well up. Maggie, Chapa, Chara and Buddy, sleep tight... They died in the same year.
Ah, an excellent rendition of Gut's theme that makes me both happy *and* sad. Much like the news that the manga will continue, even though Miura is not here anymore to see his work finished. I've never known anyone who's died (yet) so I don't have a sad depressing tragic relevant tale about this. I'm just glad that this is a cover that gets the original feel of the song. I could explain why and how in a lot of different ways, I can re-edit this comment a thousand times, but I know it means a thousand different things to a thousand different people, there's no point trying to nail it down.
Omg the guts theme is so calm and smooth, unlike his story which is violent and bloody, i think this theme is about what guts seeks on his journey, peace 😔

I always watch an internet guy called "Jwulen", and their 30 curiosity videos about games, movies or randoms things always make me feel better, especially the end of his videos, for the reflexive end, about depression, sadness, and more things that can hit us all everyday.
The emptiness, hollow, and more things that can hit us down or destroy us inside. Jwulen always know how to take the best of the people and make it shine with their reflexive "PEROOOOOOOOOOOOO" (or but, for English folks).
Jwulen, if you ever read this comment, let me say thanks to you, because the "PEROOOOOOOOO" always make me feel better and special. Maybe we could be depressed or bad, but you man, you always make us feel better.

Berserk isn't a masterpiece for everyone. However for me Berserk is a priceless piece that's become a part of me and shaped me. There are so many panels I've cried for, so many moments that made me warm inside and other breathtaking stages upon the pages I explored.
I could very much see this being an outro song for a Silent Hill game, the way you turned Guts' theme into metal just gives it that vibe and it's beautiful.

Посадив обоих детей на руки, фигура направилась к женщине с длинными волосами, с улыбкой смотрящей на семейную идиллию, о которой они оба так долго мечтали.

На небольшой лужайке красовался свежпостроенный, неряшливый замок, возведённый неумелыми детскими ручонками.
«У меня есть небольшое улучшение» - Произнеся это, Гатс достал из сумки небольшое белое перо и водрузил его на центральную башню, символизируя победное знамя.
«Теперь это замок Белого Сокола! Прямо как в сказках!» - восторженно воскликнули дети, комфортно устроившиеся на огромных, мускулистых руках, покрытых шрамами давно прошедших войн.
- Джудо прислал письмо, они с отрядом успешно отбили ещё один форт для Короля. Дела у Молодого Сокола идут не хуже, чем при Гриффите. Столь же громких побед Сокол больше не увидит, но Джудо мудрый лидер, потери отряда куда меньше.
Услышав это, с улыбкой Гатс посадил детей на оконную раму и направил взор вдаль. В воздухе повисла мирная тишина, которую больше никогда не прервёт гром тяжёлой стали.

25yrs later and the song is still legendary
Berserk is a manga that has personally touched my soul. I personally felt lost in my life, had no idea where I was going until I bought the 1st deluxe edition and began reading away. I now have the 2nd and 3rd, but it still touches my heart and encouraged me to keep going and that no matter what, it’s gonna be alright. Thank you Kentaro Miura for making me continue pushing on and have hope that everything will be alright, no matter the challenge. Hell even berserk has inspired me to begin working out and actually change my life to the better…thank you…
