- Here I'm unboxing and setting up the Corsair RM1000e modular power supply unit, while also showing you what to do, where to install the cables, what you need to connect and how and why and more.
This is a surprisingly compact and flexible modular power supply unit where you only need to connect the cables you're actually going to be using, so that's handy!

Your video is so damn good man. The only person on YT who fully explains things and shows every cable and component in detail with examples. Every other video I've tried searching for barely has the camera to show anything significant and moves everything around too fast and then doesn't explain anything significant. I'm totally glazing, but I'm very impressed with this video!!
Thanks. I try to balance being detailed without being patronising. It's a hard balance 😂
Been fumbling around with cables in my first build for near two hours until stumbling across this video. Especially with the CPU mobo plugs, as there aren't any written instructions. You're a life saver.
Glad I could help! Hope you enjoyed enough to subscribe 🦐
This is the most perfect video I’ve ever seen anyone make about anything todo with a pc👍🏼

@@TheProvokedPrawnHi, my Corsair PSU wall power cord came with a small bending mark, like a line bend mark at one part of the cable near the letters. Is it normal? Can it affect anything?
just made a mistake of mixing two different psu cables, thanks to your guide I am able to figure it
my friend from over the pond!
so happy to be here early- built my pc just about 3 days ago and your breakdowns saved me. you had just about every piece and bit I got, and I had ordered before knowing your channel.
Thank you so much for what you do! It was my first build (8 year upgrade, had help the first time) and took me 14 hours but I think he's handsome as hell kit and all.
I'd love to send videos if you want to see directly how helpful your videos/pictures are!
Glad I could help! You can share things on my Discord discord.gg/7ff5UdQZ
Nice timing! I was looking into getting this psu.
Glad I could help!
Very helpful. Thank you!

Thank you The Provoked Prawn for NOT being a sidewalk Wacky Waving Arm Flailing Tube Man jacked on caffeine and speed explaining this very important component needed in a computer build. I am now confident on my purchase decision. You helped me by explaining with precise details. After going through countless other frustrating and hard to understand PSU videos I was left more confused. I would name names but that wouldn't be very ethical. Amazing how small channels get the job done. SUBBED!
Thanks Jeremiah for the amusing comment and the sub 🦐👍
@@TheProvokedPrawn No problem you earned it.
just what i was looking for
Thank you! You saved me with this video.
Glad I could help!
Have this PSU. Corsair didn't make it easy to figure out but this video helped.
are you having any problems with it so far? I am currently thinking to buy it do you recommend?
Second video of yours I watched. Good stuff. Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
I just got through building my computer yesterdayand your video helped immensely. The PSU portion was easy with your help.
as always a great video.
Thank you. Appreciate you :)
I do wish I had this during my build. Thinking I was screwed without a 12pin for the 4080 but it comes with that converter and the psu comes with a ton of cables.
Thank you very much!
Glad to help. I've got this playlist which might be useful too - How to build a gaming PC: ua-cam.com/play/PLlRFhsGPgCG9yKCHtL2_UnwSGitMqao5z.html
Good work
Very helpful video, thank you! I noticed one thing that caught my attention: the AIO is positioned lower than your CPU, which can cause air bubbles to form around the CPU and put more stress on the pump. It's better to position the radiator above the CPU. The tubes should go up not down
ua-cam.com/video/qQcyYHGtArs/v-deo.html
best video i ever seen.
bold statement :)
Nice video! Will you review the new kraken elite?
Yes, soon
I thought the melting problem was from people using the adapter included with the GPU instead of just buying a new PSU. I have always said if you need the adapter provided, then don't buy it until you have the psu or whatever needed to make that adapter pointless. Though great help, I was wondering why they call it a 16 pin connector when there is only 12 pins on the gpu
Thank you very good ❤
You're welcome 😊
Could not have uploaded this at a better time, I finished my first build yesterday (still waiting on gpu to arrive) and I couldn’t find anything helpful online for Corsair PSUs and I got the hx1200. I was worried about whether or not I put the cables into the psu correctly and this video shows me that I did
If you haven’t already I would HIGHLY recommend a video on a Corsair HX1000 or HX1200 platinum because the plugs are in 3 rows instead of 2 like most of the PSUs that I’ve seen and I think it would be appreciated because I have seen tons of people asking similar questions to what I had when I was trying to figure out how to properly connect the cables to it.
Fantastic
pretty cool thanks..
Glad you liked it!
Hello my friend, thanks for giving us this amazing presentation of this component!
If u can help me with a doubt, I bought recently one (Asus TUF Gaming, 1000W, 80 Plus Gold, PCIe 5.0, ATX 3.0), its gonna take almost 20 days to arrive, I really dont wanna wait all this and seeing the Corsair RM1000e PSU which is an option for me to get and its gonna take only 5 days to arrive.
So my question for you is, comparing both, am I losing something or not really ? The price of the ASUS TUF that I bought is like 25% cheaper than the Corsair.
I have a gpu with 3 8 pin connectors needed.
Should I connect 1 normal pcie and 1 "pig tail" connector?
Or should I connect 2 normal pcie cables and 1 pig tail connector but leave half of it unused?
Could i use the psu cables from my corsair 850w 2021 white on a corsair RM1000e ?
I am using the 4070 tuf gaming and it has only one 8 pin adapter on the gpu, do i use one pcie chord to it? and if so is it all the way to the right or left on the psu?
can i use other cables in this power supply from corsair? (CORSAIR Premium Individually Sleeved PSU Cables Pro Kit)
Is it normal for the mobo 24 pin to be missing pin 14? I know pin 20(-5v) has been taken out years ago as my 4 y/o one doesnt have it but not sure about thepin 14( -12v )
Have you found the fan to be loud?
Mine is a bit loud, reminds me of how fridges sound, or even a hard drive.
It may be because mine is mounted at the front of my pc, I could try flipping it to perhaps in my Jonsbo d41.
10/10 ty
Can i use the 850e version of this in a 3pcie gpu? It only has 4 slots for cpu/pcie
I heard that the RME series uses capacitors from Taiwan. Can you confirm if this is true?
So is this the same size as a 750w just more powerful? Websites says dimensions are different. But video looks the same size
At 10:37 could you use that cable to power a 4080 super?
are the cables 18 awg or 16?
how to connect 4080 , rtx zotac in box have 3 - 8 pin to graphics card converter
so either i got a bad batch but im already on my second one because they make a horrible rubbing sound under load
Can I use my Corsair Rm1000x (2021) with rtx 4080 ??
Can you confirm that the 12VHPWR cable can carry the full 600 watts for an RTX 4090?
Did you get the answer???
@@3ALM3GEB Yes. It can.
If you are looking at this PSU, i would recommend the Corsair RMX series instead. A bit more money, but much better quality.
I had the RME for a month but returned it, has a very noisy ball bearing fan.
can that 600Watts use for 4070ti super?
@@Shalashaska111which rmx power supply are you using? Is it 1000W? Or more
@@thesagaofblitz 850w
That is more than enough for a 7800X3D and a 4090 :)
Hey would it be possible to see a sound comparison between RM 1000e vs 850x if you’ve got any lying around. Just wondering if the 100$ extra is worth for (silent)
Let me help you right here... I replaced the fan in my RM1000e because it has horrible whirring... it's driving me insane, especially since it speeds up, stops, speeds up, stops etc etc, every 2 minutes or so. I don't care about warranty since I have a couple PSU's laying around (honestly I do) but man what a disaster... and it has coil whine, not super loud, but loud enough to be noticable from 1 foot or less.
In short: Get the RM850x if you care about silence and enough wattage, even with a 4090 it should be okay.
I still can't find anything online about what the difference is between the e and x version of the rm1000 lol.
I asked Corsair for you :)
"Ok, so RMx is bigger, has a larger fan (132mm vs 120mm), comes with a ten year warranty (instead of 7), and supports SLI cards with the included cables out of the box. RMe is ATX 3.0 certified already, however the RMx line (to my knowledge) meets the spec, but just hasn't been certified by Intel yet."
I have questions. I have the same psu. When i turned on
The fan works 3 second ans stop. Also the gpu i have gpu. 4070. Asus.
The gpu wirk in there is electric but the fan stoped working why this happen.
Also there is an anver light this could br bios ?
does the psu have a zero rpm feature? it wont spin when its not used enough to make it more quiet
I have the same one it just flicks the fan then turns off brand new I’m so confused
Wanna fly to America and help me figure out what's wrong with my laptop? But in all seriousness what was your favorite switch on the Asus Azoth?
That would be a quite a trip. I'm afraid I can't remember what I did with the Azoth, but I like the smooth comfort of the Novelkeys Creams.
mine start and stop every minute is this normal?
Is running 40 series gpu with only 2 power supply cables okay? I'm running it the same way you displayed it but the internet says that it needs 4 power cables. What do you think?
How many connections does your GPU have?
@@TheProvokedPrawn its the 12 pin insert, one end of the cable is the 12 pin and the other splits of it 2 different (4x2) cables.
@@TheProvokedPrawni have it the way you set up your 4070ti, but i heard that i needed 4 power supply cables into my 4090 instead of the 2 i set it up with.
Any difference between RMx and RMe apart from the physical design?
Rme is more stress tested and better is what the guy at micro center told me
@@kylevos8551 Really? But RMe is a bit cheaper compared to RMx. If RMe is more stress tested and better, then how come it's cheaper?
@@ashfakuddinahmed1807cheaper is better if you have budget right? I have RMe
@@ashfakuddinahmed1807 Late reply for you but may help others. The RMe has different quality of the capacitor (Taiwanese vs Japanese in RM/x) and the fan is 120mm vs 135/140mm
I heard the fan is really noisy in these? True?
Not in my experience
Mine did not come with the cpu cables =/
Should i go for this one or the rm1000x shift for a 4090 build?
Both are good. Make sure your case will work with the shift design though
@@TheProvokedPrawn ok thanks👍

Missing a PCIe cable for my GPU. What do i do??
Please let me know if you get a response. This power supply only comes with 2 PCIe power connectors but my graphics card (RX 7900 XTX) has 3 ports.
Would this be enough for a rtx 4070 super and a i7 14700kf? im guessing yes
Yes
Would you recommend this psu?
Thank you for asking this question! It's always important to make sure the PSU you're getting is the right one for your setup.
@@TheProvokedPrawn just for a high draw card like a 4080/4090, or 7900xtx
1word:WOW
Wow?
I didn't need to watch this but I did anyways
Thank you!
Fan on this PSU is very very annoying, and it is turning on an of even if you dont do anything on your pc
Warning! AVOID the RMe series folks, they're known for having loud fan noise & coilwhine despite them marketing them as ''quiet''.
i have had three of them a while ago (RMA'd them twice) and they all had the same problem, they were even BRAND NEW. Dont let the affordable price fool you, whetever its on sale or not.
If you want to have a good reliable PSU from Corsair, go for the more expensive (sadly) RMx series and NOT NOT NOT RMe!!
Saving you from annoying problems!!
I hear the X series has the same issue?
If it weren't for you I don't think I would've built a pc at all
That's nice to hear. Thank you. Hope it went well.
PSShoe 🤪😁
Trying to find an answer for this, I'm looking at also buying the Corsair PSU Cables Kit for this PSU, but can't seem to find any information on compatability?
