    Best Laguna Seca One Take yet. Zach seems to be more comfortable talking and driving this car hard.

    Please ignore the haters and continue to upload these short takes. Sometimes these videos specially without music reveal more about a car than a reviewer yapping away. Loving the M235i, and mad with myself for liking this ZF 8 speed so much.

    Free driving footage featuring one of the best driver's M cars of the last decade on a beautiful natural race track and all I see is people whining around because he's not getting sideways in every corner and giving advice on hitting apexes...
    Must be the internet...

    These one take videos are great - able to compare the different cars. Two cameras is enough, but if TST decides this is going to be a routine feature a small track map, g-force and speed would add to the coolness for us folks who live vicariously through vids.

    I'll admit, I wasn't too sure I'd like this, but I really like this. An excellent display of how each car feels, responds and performs on a track people know (do Road America next!). Right on, Zack, keep these coming.

    Nice One Take. People seem to be confusing this for a review. Not sure why. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to talk and drive "in anger" at the same. Nice work.

    adding different angles would be interesting, as it gets a little repetitive and hard to digest the entire video. this is a constructive comment not to lash anything :) Zack seems to be a lot more confident on the track than the previous videos, thats good. Are you driving with the window open? the wind noise is disturbing. Except that I'm a little jealous haha. thumbs up ;)

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  10 років тому +2

      you can't add different angles when you're only working with 2 cameras, at an open track day, when you're only given 3 laps. The time shown was literally 100% of the time he had with the car. And yes, the window was open, because Laguna Seca requires that.

    • @Mr_Sentoo
      @Mr_Sentoo 10 років тому

      I'm not here trying to argue with you, I'm just putting out some points that I personally think could be improved. Now you prefer leaving your two cameras one looking at the side of the car and one on you thats your choice. But the views on the new video of the E63 is a lot better and you can really imagine/feel the speed.

    What's the deal with the water on the track?

    • @zanzabar4ky7
      @zanzabar4ky7 10 років тому +4

      it cools the tires since they are running stock street cars with normal tires.

    • @rucarnuts13
      @rucarnuts13 10 років тому

      zanzabar4ky7
      That does not make sense. Street tires are good up until 230-245 degrees, and driving them on a track would not cause overheating, not at least for a very, very long time.
      If anything, the water is a liability.

      It rained the day before, and the drainage in that corner wasn't great, so there was still trickling water in turn 3.

    Nice video, but you're giving up a fair amount of potential speed in the turns 2, 5 & 10 by not tracking out on the exits. Sure hope BMW follows through and produces an M2 in the next two years.

  • @ReticentIndignation

    I wonder, how the m235i 8 speed drive versus the 135i 7 speed dual clutch? Also how do these brakes fair vs. the 135i's 6 pistons fronts?
    I definitely disagree that this boring 2er looks better than a the outgoing/gone 135i coupe. Hopefully the M2 or 2M will be a more aggressive looking vehicle. The "M"235i car looks tame and cheap and lacking in character.

    If this car is this good.... Imagine the M2 or even a slightly modified and tuned M 235i with, say, 400hp....Yes?

  • @mike_s_media
    @mike_s_media 10 років тому +1

    I just don't feel the "better looking" part. This is probably one of my least favorite designed BMW's. My two biggest complaints, a lack of any "BMW" fender flare with those narrow wheels and tires, and those camaro like tall side doors making the window to door ratio seem off. I love my wifes 1 series and my 3. So what I don't get is why remove a good thing. If people want a larger car, get a larger car. In my own unprofessional opinion, you now have a slightly smaller 3... errrr 4 series. The 1M could have been improved upon as could the 1 series, then so could every line they offer. Imagine just simply adding an LSD option.

    • @mike_s_media
      @mike_s_media 10 років тому

      I agree completely with what you're saying. The thing is, even for a regular series, the 2 series lacks any contour and that signature fender flare that all BMWs have.

    • @ReticentIndignation
      @ReticentIndignation 10 років тому

      I finally feel like someone agrees with my opinion of this bland next gen 1er. I find the car lame. I also own a 135i, love the character and looks so much more. I sincerely hope that BMW makes a 2M or would it be an M2..heh

    • @MrNicholg
      @MrNicholg 10 років тому

      It's not an M "M". They're starting to use M for marketing on lesser models now. Either way, the auto box appears to be just as quick and precise as a dual-clutch in this thing, as said by Zack in the vid, and the guys at Motor Trend.

      Is not only looking different, it behaves a bit differently. The fact that the car is in coupe form, means that it has more rear overhang and it has the mass distributed a bit differently. This requires some changes in the suspension (it has front track increased by 2 mm for example), it needs to be tuned a bit, which in turn change a bit the way the car drives and feels.
      From all the reviews I've seen, everyone says it behaves a bit differently and is a bit more fun than the m135i. I haven't got the chance to drive either model though :)
