Thanks for the comprehensive review. But a couple things I'd like to point out. It's a camera centric phone, so talking about manual video recording would've been great. Adding to that, my guess is the 4.0 aperture is there also to let the user record "cinematic" videos during the day, since the sensor is so sensitive to light that its probably jumping to insanely fast shutter speeds during the day, probably somewhere around 1/10k or faster. The 1900 fps is not "frame by frame", it's software based. At 1080p, this is the only option so far. The real fps is probably the 3rd of that. The interpolation is clearly visible in your video. Awesome review!! Im fine with the regular xiaomi 13 but I think Xiaomi needs to improve the software and the front facing camera. The Ultra is amazing but maybe it is less for the regular user and more professional.
Wasn't Xiaomi had a phone with an LCD on the back? Probably they found that few people used it for selfie with the 4k back camera and so now no 4k front selfie camera, to save cost.
We need a camera and battery comparison between the Xiaomi, Samsung, iPhone, Oppo, Honor and the Pixel I think that the software is more polished on the Samsung, iPhone and Pixel. I want to see especially photos at night and zoom comparison. 👍
@TechNick Please can you tell me what zoom options are available in Pro mode for each lens with RAW capture enabled? I'm curious since RAW capture doesn't allow digital zoom as it captures raw sensor data
Depends on whether it covers the bands in your country. For people in many European countries the Chinese model is a bad option due to no band 20 (it has the worst band support of all Chinese version flagship phones. All other companies provide it). If it has all the bands for your country and you don't mind the Chinese OS, and you want to save a bit of money you could go with the Chinese version.
Great review! Surely this main camera is one of the best there is since it shares that same 1 inch sensor with some of the other flagships. The big question however is how the wide angle and zoom sensors perform. The Oppo Find X6 Pro for example has the IMX 890 (1/1.56″) sensors for both the wide angle and the zoom. This Xiaomi 13 Ultra has the much smaller IMX 858 (1/2.51") sensors for wide angle and all it's tele lenses. Purely based on the used sensors, the Oppo Find X6 Pro will still outperform the Xiaomi 13 ultra because of that. But... the Xiaomi has a little bit brighter aperture (F1.8) for the wide angle and it's first tele camera compared to the X6's F2.2 wide angle and F2.6 tele lens. Perhaps these things even out, perhaps not. But that requires a bit more in-depth testing.
The IMX858 is more recently developed and have better noise control than Imx890. Real world comparison is showing It can outperform it in most situations even with smaller size.
@@aptrue Ah that's great to hear! Hopefully someone will put this to the test. Then the only drawback left is the smaller size creates a bit less blurry background/subject separation.

There is a saying: "The best camera is the one you have with you." I doubt you carry around a large full-frame DSLR on your hand in your daily life. But you sure hold your phone almost every moment in your life. Even if you are a professional photographer, the act of taking out a device and just taking photos in your everyday life is always going to be more convenient on a smartphone. Dunno why the sentiment with DSLR. Sure DSLR has hard to beat specs but in terms of convenience and ease of use, it is always hard to beat a smartphone. And powerful smartphone cameras is quickly phasing out compact cameras. DSLRs are too expensive for the average consumers anyways.

Rx100 mk1 will make way worse photos than a current flagship smartphone given that it doesn't process the pictures, so you will have to edit the photos extensively to make them look great. I saw a test a few years ago with iPhone 13 pro vs Canon R6 and you couldn't see major differences in the pictures.
Point and was over a while ago !
Taking into account international availability, would this be a better option than the Honor Magic 5 Pro?
I actually do see it as the end of DSLR / mirroless cameras. Its the first time I don't feel like I need my regular camera
Probably one of the best video recording audio I've heard.
Yes you don't need an external zoom mic with this phone.
can you share the name or link of the wallpaper you are using?)😊
at 13:36, I yelled "holy shit" out loud. phenomenal camera!
Hi Nick,
I like your review - you cover most things relevant...
But one question remans in my head:
Would you use Xioami 13 Ultra to record your UA-cam videos?
Can you make one so we can see how good is it in doing a real job?
To a Brazilian channel that did this with the Xiaomi 13 Pro and said that he would easily use it instead of using the cameras he used. Channel name is 35 MILÍMETROS
on the main camera can you shoot in RAW full resolution or is it always 4-1 binned
This!
Nice review. My first comment since i started following your channel.
This phone is absolutely unique.
It's packed with almost everything because i heard you mention the Ir blaster too.
I wish this actual model will come to Nigeria but without the 5G network, because i don't think we have 5G here yet.
While I agree this is the new camera king, to say that it's ahead by a large margin is a bit of an exaggeration. This is still top of my list to possibly be the first phone I import to the US of Sony doesn't do anything this summer.
What is the lowest the display can go? I have problem with most phones that it's too bright even on the lowest level.
Probably has extra dim button in the pull down menu like Samsung and most other androids at this point.

What about the sound during video recording? In another review they showed video from this phone with sound, and for me, being used to iPhone sound which is great, this one seemed a bit lower quality😢 some echoes and overall not as good as the iphone's full stereo sound recording... or so it seemed from a youtube review. did you test that out, how was the sound in videos from this phone?
This phone is not available to sell in USA right? I got the s23u but this phone sound really gd
Will this device be available in the United States at any time? How good is the company with software and security updates?
What cellphone would you recommend that's almost similar to the Huawei P30 Pro?
Is it better than the s23 Ultra and how bright is the flash in dark environments? Can you do a video and show the photos and video quality please. Thanks
This is sponsored bro..wait for mkbhd and mrwhosetheboss review..also super saf camera comparison and zone of tech..
These are trust worthy channels..not sponsored
@@mostafaashraf7193 Are you sure this is an ad? I agree to watch multiple videos on this phone but TechNick isn't a Xiaomi shill, he seems to be pretty honest about what he likes and doesn't from their phones
@Ezechiel Dzimeyor the way he talks about the phone makes it a 100% ad..there is not a single reviewer that will ever say that all 2023 flagships will try to get even close to this phone..
Calling a phone that can't shoot 4k selfie video a camera king is pathetic and hilarious..we are waiting for mkbhd mrwhosetheboss and zone of tech reviews..but untill then this is a 100% sponsored video
@@mostafaashraf7193 interesting. Yiu can absolutely disagree with me but to me the front camera matters very little, so I would actually agree that even with meh selfies this has potential to be the camera king (I say potential because I have not personally compared it to other high end flagships). This camera system seems more advanced then what Samsung, Apple, Honor, and Oppo have to offer. I'll of course make to watch comparison videos before I make up my mind but I don't think I'm the only one where meh selfies don't bother me. This product doesn't really seem like something most mainstream people would go for let alone know exists so while they shouldn't have cheaped out on the selfies I don't think it will bother the very niche group of people that end up buying the phone
@@ezechieldzimeyor4541 that’s your personal preference but for many people selfie camera is just as important as main camera
The camera king should have the most balanced overall camera system
There is no phone that will win every aspect of camera comparisons
But the king wins the most categories as possible
Being a 2023 flagship with a crappy selfie camera is un acceptable this is not a mid range device..this is a premium top tier device

Wow. Selfie video is very stable. Shame it's only 1080p.
Great device overall. Great competition for other flagships.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the Xiaomi 13 ultra. Looking forward to get my hands on this phone 📱
I will stick to Honor Magic 5 Pro just because of the selfie camera.
@@wuforever totally understand. I'm also using the Magic 5 pro and don't see much point upgrading
I’ve heard mixed things about the display quality. Sure the display boasts amazing features, but pictures from some that got their hands on with the devices show that the 13 Ultra seems to be too reddish compared to other devices using Samsung OLEDs.
4:07 let me see how much storage is used and available
This is such an amazing phone but the cameras is stealing the show...
We mainly get lost in the camera excellence and forget how awesome an all round super flagship this is....
You also get a backdoor RAT baked into the firmware.
Awesome review!! Im fine with the regular xiaomi 13 but I think Xiaomi needs to improve the software and the front facing camera. The Ultra is amazing but maybe it is less for the regular user and more professional.
The regular 13 looks sooo good... But i absolutely hate Miui, and no custom roms yet
Don't forget comparison with Huawei P60 series too.
Awesome review Nick... Just awesome! Ty.
This is incredible! A masterpiece. I have been considering the 12s ultra. Nick please do a comparison between the 12s ultra and the 13 ultra❤
The only reason to get last year's model is to save money. But then it's gonna be the Chinese model.
Their difference is massive. Would really be worth it to upgrade if you came from 12S Ultra.
4K a must? Nah, for me all cameras are set to 1080p. Good enough for me and files aren't crazy big
Exactly.
Exactly. 1080p/60fps looks great on my 65" tv and the amount of MB is less.
Excellent Nick 🎉
Thanks for a great video -it's good that you covered all the relevant points in one piece
@TechNick Please can you tell me what zoom options are available in Pro mode for each lens with RAW capture enabled? I'm curious since RAW capture doesn't allow digital zoom as it captures raw sensor data
should we wait on the global or grab this now🤷🏾♂️
Depends on whether it covers the bands in your country. For people in many European countries the Chinese model is a bad option due to no band 20 (it has the worst band support of all Chinese version flagship phones. All other companies provide it). If it has all the bands for your country and you don't mind the Chinese OS, and you want to save a bit of money you could go with the Chinese version.

great presentation and tutorial. thanks!!

Is it possible to choose 25fps and 50fps in video mode? I saw 25fps in the video but it was the front lens.
Why are you reviewing a phone you just got? Or are you going to do the same trick with the Honor Magic 5 Pro where you change the title from review to hands on once you release the real "review"
What about finger print scanner, its optical or ultrasonic?

The one that makes me want it more because of the photography kit. But the only problem for me is that most of the Android only updates for 2-3 years, unlike Apple.
The last most of my family members are in the Apple ecosystem, which means I need to make good reasons otherwise, I need to bring two phones.
The idea is that the best camera is the best camera you can carry around every day and this phone offer that.

It will always be hard to beat DSLR , only thing good is quick snap and upload or live streaming , otherwise 1.8 aperture on full frame will blow any phone away . Anyway the phone is good and beautiful to . Sad international version is so expensive .
@@zeroxzero159 You are right , but for me i don’t use mobile camera much only for work purpose , and if i go out i do carry my a7r 2 with me for my family pictures and others . My comment was for “ beat DSLR “ statement nothing else . I don’t use social media much and do not upload photos of every thing thats why i have this opinion and you have full right to disagree 🙂 . DSLR’s are quite expensive you are right , expensive hobby i must say .
Yup. I started using a full-frame mirrorless, and stopped taking serious pictures with my smartphone except for quick snapshots I don't care about. The difference in quality is astounding, and phones are a LONG way off.
