    Did you try to wing it with efoil mast/prop? I imagine it could be a useful assist in light wind, but then again there's additional resistance from the prop, so might be not so great. And juggling the remote and the wing is probably difficult. But would be interesting to see what happens if you try!

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  2 роки тому

      Too many things going on. Did not try. You would have to stay on power always as the propeller has drag as well as the prop guard.

    • @zozoworx
      @zozoworx 2 роки тому

      @@DamienLeroyUA-cam it might be interesting to supply an efoil with a foldable prop, so once you lift and reduce the power, the prop folds and you stay up on the foil, maybe not even bad for learning

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  2 роки тому +1

      @@zozoworx There is still more drag from the propulsion unfortunately so it will work but not as good as a classic foil set up.

      @@DamienLeroyUA-cam if the goal of using folding prop is to get into waves with efoil and ride them unpowered, seems like the same principle would apply here -- winging could give good practice for unpowered riding, in figuring out the restrained glide, balancing the weight, etc. Where you have offshore winds, could be interesting to efoil out to the windline with wing luffed behind, then engage windpower once out. Some experimenting in order!

    What size mast is that?

  • @X2Fat
    @X2Fat 3 місяці тому

    So can wing foil without changing the mass?
    The reason ask is I planned on getting a efoil then later get a wing using an efoil with a folding prop until I get wing foiling down.
    Then buy a mass or whole new wing foil set up

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  3 місяці тому +1

      It's been done but not ideal. There is a little drag on the efoil with a folding prop and you're going to have added weight of the battery. So will work if you have good power in your wing but if it's really light you have drag and more weight. Also you would have to think about the remote in your hand. Unless you are thinking of learning on efoil/ wing and using it a a Taxi back up? Should work but not as good as a normal set up.

    Great video. Thanks for the demo of this concept which I had wondered about myself. I've got the 4'9" V3 and the 5'6" V2 , weigh 175 lbs, years of windsurfing experience back in the day but haven't tried winging yet. My winging buddy is suggesting I get a 36" mast but I see you are recommending the 28". Will the 36" not work well with the efoil board? (I'm comfortable flying the 32" mast high on the efoil) thx again for all the great content !

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  2 роки тому +1

      28" I recommend for someone learning 100% and also easier to ride in shallower conditions. The other reason is the longer you go the more drag you have under water making it harder to get up on foil if you are new to winging. Saying all that, for sure you can use a 32 and or 36 on it 100%. Thank you!

      You can leave the battery in for sure but then really you don't need the wing as you have power from the remote.

    Hmm I think, you just showed us how to wing a Lift e foil board with pretty much any foil too. As most masts will fit the screw inserts on the bottom of the board along with that seal for the hole. Can’t wait to see people riding an Axis, Takuma or F-One foils with this board while winging. Gonna make for some interesting pictures.

    Excellent video, as always! I'd love to see you do a video using the newer foil assist drive that company in Australia is marketing - the more powerful one that can attach to a wing foil board for use as an efoil. This is something I'm more likely to explore as it seems less gear and $ intensive than owning both a wing foil board and efoil...

    Thank you so much for all of your videos, Damo and Gwen! They are truly inspiring. I have both the 5'4" and 4'2" Lift boards and want to learn to wing starting in the spring. I know, based on your other videos, that I need a bigger board to learn on, but was wondering if I could take out the ebox and battery and put in some sort of foam to create more buoyancy in the 5'4" board. I know that I'd need a traditional mast, but do you think that would work to create more liters of volume? Thanks man! Your attitude and outlook on life is infectious!

      Brother! You for sure can and the air tight seal inside makes it very buoyant with out the battery! I would try one day and see if you can stand up on it without the battery in it.
