The thing I love most about bands like this is that they are using their ability to be as melodic as possible, instead of being technical just for the sake of it.
Technical and melodic are not mutually exclusive terms.
@@R3tr0v1ru5 That's a half truth. There's plenty of atonal technical death metal out there too.
@@skitzoification Being not mutually exclusive doesn't mean it can't be atonal either.
That's definitely not what I was trying to say. I read your comment as saying melody and technicality can't be separate things, but I misread it entirely and made my comment. My apologies.
They’re technical AF, yet still manage to be melodic and groovy as hell at the same time. It’s awesome.
I found your passport in Portland, OR in late October of 2019
Thanks for suggesting this band to me, without even saying you were in it.
You guys rock
Yo thanks again for that dude!
Phil Tougas, I think, has become my favorite guitarist. His leads are so unique! Definitely not another run of the mills songwriter! Very fresh in the technical death metal scene.
Not to mention an insane amount of technical skill. Dude plays ridiculously tricky shit like it's nothing.
And...Malcolm Pugh🤘It is definitely a tie between those two.
the Canadian Spawn Of Possession
what do you mean by that? actually he is from france
@@donny079 They're from Quebec, Canada. That's why they sing in French.
good compliment to First Fragment, but SoP is untouchable.
@@mrdeathamore Until SoP returns, FF are the GODS of Tech Death.
They are First Fragment.
Literally sounds like straight up baroque music and I love it
🤘
I love the part at 2:19 where it sounds like Fundamental Process by Beyond Creation, and then takes a completely different, amazing direction.
Vlad Koren Bass dude hahaha you rigth... cheers
Me too
Phil Tougas more like Phil Tou-god
PLEASE, for the love of the holy tech-gods upload tabs for this!
Bass tabs too!
I honestly think tab books for this album would do well
Mutated Antibiosis get Tab Pro lmao
I asked them a few weeks back and they couldn't release any tabs for this - however, they didn't rule out a potential tab book! - I would pay top dollar for it!
guitar pro maybe better pleaseeeee ahahaha love this
That guitar is sweet as fuck. Song and composition is sweet as fuck. Album is immense as fuck. And the end solos...my fucking fuck...Malmsteen i'm sorry but...this is what is required in neo-classical composition.
He is from the 80's... Don't blame him, the music wasn't that evoluted
Beautiful songwriting, brilliant execution. Congrats Phil and FF guys!
I just hammered on my pants then lost them to lighting fast pull-offs. Unbelievably technically sound perfection.
This guitar truly belongs to his player and the player owns his instrument properly
This is classical music - but badass
When I wear my headphones, I listen at most 2 songs from other bands and then I cannot stop my fingers selecting a first fragment song.
I am a long time metalhead who just found this guys music. One of the only tech death bands who can write amazing classical based metal while also being extremely technical. You have become one of my favorite guitarist ever. Your power metal band is amazing too.
I cant wait for the next album, First Fragment totally catched me with these neoclassical like riffs, i mean Phil Tougas is crazy in his songwriting.
How are you liking their new album? Fucking masterpiece!
Unbelievable
esta banda me tiene enamorado, que sonido, que tecnica, lo tienen claro, asi es que debe sonar el technical death metal
awesome!!!!
I was hoping to see them play the horse riding music part
You mean Gerudo Valley? Maybe some other time ; )
Hloy Hesit The Dos Equis commercial part? lol that's what some dude said on one of the original videos of this album.
really good stuff!
great !
Awesome
Well done!
Wow 🙌🙌
Amazing
И мелодия, и техника - все есть!
BEST BAND EVER
Amazing!! From one musician to another, You guys are awesome! Really enjoyed your Sound!
J'ai beaucoup aimé! Chapeau! \m/
Absolutely impressive
What an amazing song dude!
YOOO fierce AF, loved listening to this while memorizing the new work menu,
là, chu sans mots... trop bon
You just got yourself another subscriber, this is great dude. Keep it up.
This solo! I 've listened to it on repeat like 100 times in a row.
Got to say this is the best guitar playthrough I've seen in a while, It is mesmerizing! Excellent job!!!
This song is my ringtone!!
glorious masterpiece
Never seen anything like this before. Awesome.
Such a genius
Sick
Damn you've got you a real beauty on your hands
Thanks so much for putting your music on UA-cam. Can't even imagine what it took to produce and engineer.
Best wishes.
Great
Cette zik est énorme, Bravo! frisson ;)
Holy smokes!
I have never heard anything like this in my life.....daaaamn
Awesome
Must say I also appreciate your great solo's on 'the last witness' ep.
meraviglia delle meraviglie
Love this song. Keep replaying at 2:44. Gorgeous
I mean the entire song is beautifully insane and well composed/written. The part that blew me away first was the lead up to the solo. That tapping at 2:19 sets up the solo so freaking well! Glad I’m not alone in my love for this piece!! 🤟😎❤️
Oh My God this song is amazing, a complete Masterpiece of composition. And that solo... That's how heaven must sound like.
This was the first song of y’all’s I listened all the way back in 2019. At the time, I didn’t really get it. Now, First Fragment is one of my favorite bands. Period.
I think that’s normal for everyone. Sometimes it takes a different day, time, mindset or whatever. Other times you listen to it again and you say, “Wow I didn’t get it until now but I’m glad I did!” That’s how I was with them. Some technical metal bands need preparation for the listener or time for some. Like I said it varies widely but what matters is our love and appreciation for the music!
I would love to hear the isolated lead guitar tracks from this album. Such legendary performances throughout.
Love my JL-7. Best guitar I've ever owned. Just wish I could make comparable sounds come out of it. Very good work.
It's just electric classical music and that's sick AF
I didn't think I would find a new guitar hero after Loomis and Münzner, but you my friend, Mr Phil Tougas have become my new guitar hero. And Dasein is beyond comprehension. It's a masterpiece. Much love to you and your band.
Sayan Mandal I agree but I also would say to check out Malcolm Pugh (Inferi and A Loathing Requiem, he actually played a solo on the final track on Dasein).
Duuude i have never!Ever! Heard anything like this intro to your solo fucking sic!!!
Between watching this several times a day for the past few weeks and cranking Equipoise in between I think I need to sell my guitars and take up origami or macrame or similar.....you are a god amongst men Sir Tougas.
God bless
Progressive Technical Bach Metal
Un God!
Stu du monde qui écoute la voix qui dislike? c'est tellement nice! great job.
Solide !!!!!!!!!! c'est bien beau la technique mais il faut être capable de le reproduire en show !!! et pour First Fragment bien ils le font !!!! \m/\m/
Greetings from Asia! Finally a Playthrough vid!
From Nepal!!🖤
trop fort!!!
MlleClarawr nice dp
Cest malade comme band !!!
Essa performance é incrível. Imbatível e majestosa.
Vocês têm muitos fãs aquino Brasil. Eu sou um.
Abraços! Continuem esse trabalho excelente!
3:05 to 3:15 brings a tear to my eye, truly a beautiful ascension at the end of the solo
You are really using an account with the name of chuck shuldiner? You're a fucking lame, quit using it fool.
😂
I love it when not only is the guitarist a beast, but the bassist and drummer are also so so freaking amazing as well. One of the coolest bands I've ever come across. I heard about Phil Tougas after he was doing Eternity's End with Chrisitan Muenzner. If you can play with Christian and mesh so well together you know you're a phenomenal player. I recognize that guitar from past videos. The signature Schecter 7 string of Jeff Loomis before he switched to Jackson. Such an awesome guitar and at the time was insanely priced at what it's worth and more. Nice pickup Phil, that's a sweet axe to have. Anyways, I love First Fragment and hopefully one day I can see you guys live. Heard you guys are amazing in person. Cheers from Cali
2:43 😍
2:30 Greatest solo!
holy shit bro
This!
Sam Shredits Up for a cover? xD
I've wanted to cover that song way before Gula actually, but then there's that last soloish run in the outro, which led me to not do it, because... Well, you can see for yourself :) I couldn't play that "lick" properly. I could play the backing guitar though, which is just an open chord, but it would be just an easy way out, if there's this lead thing going on. So yea...
I mean, I also NEVER thought I'd be able to play Gula, so we'll see ;P
Sam Shredits DO IT!! Even if it's not perfect you should still try it.
Saw your video Sam. Great version indeed. Excellent trust me. Hope you have a band, too.
el minuto 2:19 me vuela la cabeza . es increibe , increibleeee!!
im the 1000's subcriber~!
Essa banda e archspire me conquistaram.
Coisa linda!
You have good taste! 😎🤟
fuck yessss love these guys and from canada most excellent
damn..
Holy shit
Phil Tougas you should totally do some guitar shredding music with Tom Geldschläger he’d be perfect for you guys playing some Technical Death Metal weather he joins in as third guitar player for First Fragment or just doing a Tech Death project with him personally with a Uber super lineup that would be awesome! Great playing as always Phil keep rocking!
🤟🏻 🌟 🤟
COMME ÇA DÉBOITE !!! That remind mind old Cynic, 1991 demo
That demo is the only thing I enjoy from Cynic (minus a few select tracks from Focus) so I appreciate the compliment. Merci!
this is like a better beyond creation...love it
nick_kemplin_III stop comparing to beyond creation they/he wrote almost all the songs a long time ago
holy shit dude you're a fucking beast
Can’t wait for the second unholy addition to your albums. Shred me face off boys
Compared to many other tech death guitarists, he has great economy of motion. You have to when stuff gets this difficult.
Boss \m/
Is that the Schecter JL-7FR? Beautiful guitar.
i bet most guitarists couldn't even handle any given riff section of this song if their life depended on it
music gone extreme sport
It’s Neo classical. There’s tons of actual classical and baroque pieces out there that blows this out of the water in terms of what you seem to call “sport” factor. Music isn’t restricted to just slow grooves and bends like whatever Blues inspired music taught you.
Please upload tabs to Ultimate Guitar!!! I would love to learn this song and post a cover!
GULAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I wonder why this was released instrumental on the album, it sounds like it was written with the intention of having vocals over it
I absolutely fucking love this shit, but please make the guitars more prominent in the mix, they're just slightly too low.
I hear some Paul Gilbert in his playing especially that part at 2:44. Sounds like scarified :D
sounds like fundamental process - beyond creation
BRU MA
Nah I wrote this song in 2010. That Beyond Creation song came out years after.
great job man
yep at 2:19 !!!
maybe it was a tribute from BC to them then
: )
I think an instrumental album is absolutely necessary.
Fucking nice that unique leader records scooped them up cause they have some straight bullshit artists on that label now when back in the early days of unique leader it was straight ultimate death metal everytime, every band, every tour or record \m/ This is some fire right here \m/
Phil, can you pleeeeaaase do some Chthe'ilist playthroughs?
guys come to México please
