It seems Lincoln has a knack for determining the manufacturer zeitgeist and then doing something pleasingly different. No Lincoln cries "sporty" but all of them can be truly fast. I am impressed with their take on "hybrid", a clever means of adding authoritative power to their offerings with the understanding that purchasers are unlikely to be worried about fuel economy.
As Lincoln pivots to electrified power trains such as the 2021 Corsair Grand Touring, I’d be interested in your take on how that compares. What are the compromises and should a potential buyer have any reservations about the longevity of these electrified power trains from Ford/Lincoln?
There are really no cons. The hybrid system Lincoln/ Ford uses can go over 300k with basic maintanence and is a almost identical to what the Pruis Prime plug in uses.
Now its 2024. Would love to see a updated review. Had a Lincoln Mark VIII years ago. Bought used with 40k on it. Absolutely loved it. Untill it hit 70K miles. Then everything, and i mean almost everything started falling apart. From plastic parts of the interior, wheel bearings, the air bag suspension system, which honestly when it did work, was awesome. It turned into the Perverbial "Fix Or Repair Daily." But I guess if one is able to renew every 4 years, 50K miles..it would be an awesome car.
I know auto journalists and car enthusiasts hate modern Nissan but I'm eager for you to review the 2020 Altima specifically the Zero G seats. Seating comfort is usually over looked but when you are stuck in a car for 8 hours it can really open your eyes.
This Corsair has the 20" wheels from the Reserve Appearance package but it doesn't seem to have the Reserve Appearance package fitted to this test unit because it's missing the extended body color along the wheel arches, the lower 1/4 of the doors, & the rear bumper quarter section as well

Hey savage dont know if u read comments now that ur pretty big but I would like to see you start using a decibel meter and use it in your reviews to mesure quietness, at idle and 60mph cruising. Also, you'd be soooo perfect if you started doing used car reviews! As much as this corsair looks amazing to daily drive, few of us watching have the means for that... Great review, I bought a Corsair for all the reasons you listed. Your frustration with where to put your cell phone was funny. There’s a key pocket / cell phone holder on the back wall of the front center console, you can kinda see it at 7:55. Not obvious, but very handy once you know.
Exterior dimensions and look are closer to the 2013 Ford Escape. The 2020 Escape looks nothing like the older ones. So did they reuse the previous Escape chassis for this CUV and a new chassis for 2020 Escape?
First time watching one of your reviews; beautifully shot and your expertise is admirable. I am disappointed that you have to choke on actually liking this car. I have one and have been driving new Lincolns since they began their major overhaul in 2013. Your description includes this car as a "seems to be an attempt to turn the brand around" The "attempt" has been in full swing for seven or eight years. (Many other brands have copied the stand up video screen, foot activated red deck lift, fully adjustable seats, wrap-around LED rear end, etc. etc.) .. It's important to me for buyers who are looking for a great American car, to not have to approach the new Lincolns like they're sneaking up on a road-side bomb. Yeah, I know the foreign competition may have better plastic here and there and a tighter fit in nooks and crannies but none of them can touch this cars' (and all Lincolns) sound systems...for example. You have my permission to give an unqualified, "well..for a Ford" positive impression. :) Thanks for your great work.
The blacked out buttons, and digital dash is really cool. The details are amazing, especially for an american car. Surprised to know how well it drives, how soft it is, and how nice it rides. Ford is stepping up!
I remember about 10 years ago I rented a Ford Edge, which I think it's this car base on. I drove it from SF to L.A, almost nonstop. I was so refresh and not drain by the whole trip; it was the most comfortable cars I've driven, even til today. On the other hand, it's American way to not taken care the minor detail of interior of every car they made. It's the tradition...
Its a de-tuned engine found in the Mustang Eco-Boost. 295 hp and 310 tq. The actual noise is from the speakers to fool the driver they are driving a 60k dollar 4 cylinder compact vehicle that costs about 881 dollars a month for the one in this video.
A gussied up Escape! RDX is just better at everything and cheaper. Resales in 3 years will see an RDX at about $6,000 higher. It makes zero sense to choose the Lincoln!
@@slgpph RDX is a gussied up CRV... back when I bought my MKC, I tried going top trim Escape to save money but the MKC was significantly better when I test drove them both for 24 hours.
Mr. Goose I am a huge fan of your Videos. They are typically the best and very comprehensive...and usually well shot and edited...that said what happened to the videography in this one? The Driving portion is amost unwatchable...Love the commentary though...
I found myself agreeing with everything you said. I bought my wife a 2019 MKC, it's quiet, reasonably quick (2.0 AWD) but Ford/Lincoln has ALWAYS had issues with dash rattle, B pillar noises and door rattles. Every single one I have ever owned has developed these rattles. I didn't know they went back to the gloss black, I thought they got away from that, the MKC has none of that so they took a step back there but we will likely be looking around 2022 to replace her MKC and I'll probably upgrade from the 2017 MKZ AWD 3.0TT to the 2020 final MKZ with 400hp, running 12.7 in the quarter with a luxo barge is a blast and I want to keep doing it. Then around 2024 it's Mach-E GT time.
I never said anything bad about the drive modes on the explorer aside from switching was laggy. The infotainment software is not the same in terms of performance either, its also in its native orientation in landscape on the Corsair.
Another example of a car that you should only lease. A $60,000 Ford. Most older cars that you will notice on freeways are usually Toyota or Honda made. This rule never changes. Older Lincoln's you never see.
I bought a Corsair in Nov,19. Probably one of the first built, and that may be the problem. The car sways side to side after every road imperfection.By the time I get to work I am frequently car sick. I’ve tried changing every ride and safety setting combination I can think of with no improvement. Could it be the dampers ? The trans also has unpleasant characteristics. When downshifting at slow speeds it frequently jerks instead of smoothly changing gears. I haven’t been able to leave it with the dealer yet, just phone calls about the above and several other minor problems ( garage door opener, phone as a key, luggage cover,) which have been resolved. Most of the time they say the car is so new they are unfamiliar with it. I don’t recall the demonstrator having these ride problems and I hope they can be fixed. 1 -15-22 After 2 years of use, all my problems have resolved. The ride is great. I have no scratches on the piano black areas, and even tried with my fingernails as you suggested. The center stack has always been really solid. Also you can turn off traction control without affecting anything else with two button pushes in the center dash. I absolutely love this car!! ( it’s trade in value is close to what I paid for it 2 years ago )

When is the pop-up screens going away from the main infotainment system? Do people really like them? Especially with such real estate for SUVs why do they do this?
Because it has become the norm in the automotive industry to be this lazy and cheap. Plus most consumers are to ignorant to complain about it since it seems "different"
It's not lazy and cheap... It's to bring the screen up more in the line of vision so you are not taking your eyes so far away from the road. If they made the whole dash bigger it would look even worse.
They would make much more sense if they could actually retract, at least partially. Most of the time people don't need to see navigation on their everyday route to work-home, for example...
Right??? I have the Fusion in Platinum trim, and everything rattles, but hot damn, you can take a corner at 70 like its on rails. It sits literally 3"off the rod, and I had an easier time getting into the McLaren 650 than I have getting into my commuter car. That's a shame.

@@bassandtrebleclef because it's just money. It grows back. Eating ramen noodles and counting ever cent doesn't seem enjoyable. I enjoy the shit out of a spirited drive. Oh and we don't have the giant moneypit that are children.
@@bassandtrebleclef It's all about priorities, I guess. For some people it's just important to have an expensive car. Personally, I would never spend more than 40k or so on a car, even if I was a millionaire. Computers and video games on the other hand... I could spend many thousands of dollars on those... and I probably have. I should stop thinking about that, lol.
bassandtrebleclef this car is not for working poor people any more than Mercedes or land cruisers. It’s the American way don’t u know......
@@bassandtrebleclef people need to keep up with the Joneses. Most are programmed to not settle for the cheaper or used vehicle. Got to have the latest and greatest. If you buy one for 60k and put 20k down. The monthly payment for a 40k loan at 1.9% interest for 5 years is $699 a month, yeah baby. Customer: "I can't afford that." Dealer: "No problem how about extending the loan terms to 72 months? That will be $588/month". Customer "That is still too much", Dealer: "We have this fleece deal, oops I mean lease where the monthly payment is less." In reality the customer has no equity in the end, is limited in miles driven and is the same car buying situation in 3 years. Meanwhile they borrowed money at 14% interest (what Dave Ramsey has figured out the average cost of leasing a car's money factor).
At first this car had my curiosity now it has my attention. Always good to hear from someone who's not a brand fan
Here we are 3 years later and the Corsair is Lincoln's best selling vehicle.
On top of all that I saw one on the road the other day and could no believe it. I turned for it, is way better in person than in pictures and videos.
Fast luxury
Omg the outro!!! Amazing!! BTW amazing video very nice for them to make a solid vehicle!!
Thumbs up for that playlist haha. I knew this man had class but now it's a fact
Thanks for the new outro Mark...been missing them!
Love that its a brand new car and the exhaust is rusted already.
I know auto journalists and car enthusiasts hate modern Nissan but I'm eager for you to review the 2020 Altima specifically the Zero G seats. Seating comfort is usually over looked but when you are stuck in a car for 8 hours it can really open your eyes.
18:51 he´s back!
I thought Turbowski was back. :(
That new premium outro is mint. I'm thoroughly impressed.
i just saw Sepultura Dead Embryonic Cells on your radio dude...you just went up a few pegs in my book
This Corsair has the 20" wheels from the Reserve Appearance package but it doesn't seem to have the Reserve Appearance package fitted to this test unit because it's missing the extended body color along the wheel arches, the lower 1/4 of the doors, & the rear bumper quarter section as well
Finally subscribed today. After the last video, I reconsidered my thoughts about your channel. The attention to detail, the candidness, the effort to inform the viewer is phenomenal. I love how you bring it into the shop, show the undercarriage for review and discussion. Then analyzing of the sound system. No one else pays that much attention to detail. I subscribe impressed. Sir you do well in your review. A side note. Get rid of the hideous green cap. You can do better. LOL Have an awesome day and much success to your endeavors.
Is the rust standard equipment on this vehicle or is this a patina trim level?
Every Lincoln model is the one to "turn the brand around'...
Yep 😂😂
Problem is everytime they turn a corner the germans have turned 2 more with their interior design and materials R&D
Cory C Not recently. The Navigator is fantastic, the Continental is really good but doesn’t sell because it’s a full-size sedan, and now this is pretty damn good too.
You could say the same about Genesis as well or Caddilac. Certain brands just will always be "trying."
@@savagegeese If Lincoln sticks to SUV's, they definitely have turned the corner compared to where they were a generation or two ago.
Lincoln has been mismanaged for 25 years. But now, this is exactly the right product lineup. They get it! Cadillac is still lost.
I'm always impressed with the production quality of your videos, great job!
OH MAN! That INTRO!! Love it!
Excellent review. I wonder what savagegeese would think of the Lincoln Aviator considering his thoughts on this and the Explorer.
see he refered to matthew mcconauhey hanging out in Aviator not corsair.
the adjustable seats for under the back of the legs is very good idea, and these video game in dash graphics i guess are the future now
Savagegeese, you have become my favourite auto reviewer. Keep it up!
Hey savage dont know if u read comments now that ur pretty big but I would like to see you start using a decibel meter and use it in your reviews to mesure quietness, at idle and 60mph cruising. Iknow its picky but i wouldnt ask if i didnt think youd be the hard working guy that would do it. Most reviewers just say "its very quiet" and that doesnt mean much! For example , my ls430 is quieter than a rolls royce of the era by 1db, a kia amantis is even quieter can u believe that? Fun facts! Also, you'd be soooo perfect if you started doing used car reviews! As much as this corsair looks amazing to daily drive, few of us watching have the means for that... Iknow the new cars get most the views but im pretty confident that if you put that level of work on used cars, especially an ls400 or 430, or other mainstream cars it'd be in your top viewed videos, pretty sure!
Actually used to do this all the time but I never published the results maybe I'll start doing it now. I have three different Hardware decibel meters that are not phones

What kind of camera do you use? It’s mad professional. Best content for car reviews.
I used to live in Lakemoor. Your video editing and overall production is top shelf. When it comes to interior controls Im guessing AC Delco is still showing off their extreme cheap cost cutting parts.
This is why I love watching the Goose! He isn't trying to review Lamborghini and Porche's. He is doing more mainstream realistic cars. He is completely fair with his reviews for trying to get the buyer of these cars a real life expectation of how the vehicle will be to live with. I'm a Ford fan and he is very critical of Ford but I completely agree with his assessments. Hopefully Ford will watch his videos and learn where they can improve. Thanks Savage Gooseman!

"Rollin' boogers like Matthew McConaughey...."

Alright, alright, alright...

Boy, for a four-cylinder it sure has a nice sound to it!
Fake engine noise from the audio system. Most brands are doing it for the turbo 4’s
@@slgpph These cars aren't badge engineered anymore. They share platforms but one isn't based on the other, they are designed separately.
Mr. Goose I am a huge fan of your Videos. They are typically the best and very comprehensive...and usually well shot and edited...that said what happened to the videography in this one? The Driving portion is amost unwatchable...Love the commentary though...
Why oh why do they give out the all black interior for press cars? Such a missed opportunity to show off some of the vehicles best attributes.
You should take a look at the Tesla Model Y. You might be surprised by it.

I'm surprised how positive you are about the electronics and drive modes since the gage cluster screen seems to be EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE EXPLORER.
I never said anything bad about the drive modes on the explorer aside from switching was laggy. The infotainment software is not the same in terms of performance either, its also in its native orientation in landscape on the Corsair.
Good to know that they are getting way better.
Another example of a car that you should only lease. A $60,000 Ford. Most older cars that you will notice on freeways are usually Toyota or Honda made. This rule never changes. Older Lincoln's you never see.
Which one u ll rate higher for same price range luxury brand vehicle this Lincoln or lexus rx with na v6?

Another outstanding in-depth video, Mark... (production, commentary, et all > likewise- Mazda MX 5 series... stellar work.) Lincoln displaying a blatant copy of a VW trim piece (where the front fender meets the front door, just under outside mirrors :34) > check out a VW Arteon R-Line for comparison (Any plans to review that car? Looks are top-shelf, but it needs more power than a Golf 4cyl turbo. V6/V8 would do nicely).
I miss Scott.... But those Todd outros.... Holy crap I love them
When is the pop-up screens going away from the main infotainment system? Do people really like them?
Especially with such real estate for SUVs why do they do this?
Because it has become the norm in the automotive industry to be this lazy and cheap. Plus most consumers are to ignorant to complain about it since it seems "different"
It's not lazy and cheap... It's to bring the screen up more in the line of vision so you are not taking your eyes so far away from the road. If they made the whole dash bigger it would look even worse.
They would make much more sense if they could actually retract, at least partially. Most of the time people don't need to see navigation on their everyday route to work-home, for example...
