How to use WiFi Calling and WiFi SMS on your Android Phone

- You can use WiFi calling and messaging any time that your phone has a steady WiFi signal. You can do so without a cellular connection, so even if your phone is not able to make regular calls, you can WiFi call/text as long as you have the internet.
In this video, I'll show you how to activate both wifi calling and wifi sms / messaging.
Important note: Both parties need to have this feature on for it to be free.

You have to have wifi calling set to preferred. It's in the three dots setting when you press the call icon
@LetMeFixIT I did that but it's not working,when I try to call someone it will say Mobile networks is not available
You also need to make sure your carrier supports wifi calling
So here's my issue, I can do almost everything you mention in the video, except for what I need most. I'm currently on airplane mode + wifi only and calling works fine, but I can't, for the life of me get sms working. I have contacts in the US who I'd love to get in touch with and these people just don't use WhatsApp so I'm trying,I really am....
You may have to start a chat with them via SMS. Also, they have to have turned on the same feature as you for it to work.
I don't quite understand/ or get what to do!!

I have wifi calling. I'm able to talk on wifi but for some reason I cannot text and I'm told I should be able to send a text or receive. I've tried various settings. I'm running LG Stylo 5 system 10.
The other party also has to have this feature enabled (and enabled on their carrier side)

I can find the wifi calling but It says I need to be connected to wifi and the mobile network at the same time. But I need the wifi calling because I get zero sirvice in my area 😒😫

So here’s my problem: my data has reached its limit, & I can’t receive picture messages. I have wifi. I need to know how to turn on SMS over wifi only instead of data so that I can get picture messages over wifi instead. I have a Moto G Pure phone.
To receive picture messages over WiFi instead of mobile data, you can follow these steps on your Moto G Pure phone:

do you actually need RCS on? I'm airplance mode with wifi calling enable and it seems to be working!

I have a galaxy z fold and my wifi calling is not working at all. I tried switching to rcs messaging as well andit just keeps saying verifying phone number and does nothing. Could the reason be why some people are having problems with this is because the phone is locked?
Possible cos if it was locked to another provider then that would be what's doing it

Brother. Can you let me know if this feature can be used to receive OTP sent by banks as I need to travel out of USA and will need to get my OTP's..
OTP messages from banks are usually sent via SMS. If your bank supports sending OTPs through SMS over Wi-Fi, then WiFi SMS could work for receiving them. However, it's important to confirm with your bank whether they support this method.

You will need to make sure your service provider supports it as well as the other person has activated it. You can download the Google SMS messages app too if your default app doesn't have this feature
Can I receive text with this feature when only using wifi?
Yea, it worked for me but both parties need to have it enabled
you have to be on a monthly plan, pay as you go (cheaper plans) don't work...

How do I turn on chat features

The WiFi calling function does not send SMS, I have already spoken to the operator. Only makes voice calls.

correct but only if your phone and phone provider supports it (as well as the other end)

if and when you turn on WiFi calling. This is because of emergency 911
calls over WiFi, evidently they lose your caller ID?
