The current run of the IDW comic books is a great place to start. You'll miss some of the nods and callbacks to old series, but I would, as a fan, say it's easily the best of all. It amalgamated so many ideas from all the iterations and added its own new stuff in that's so good, I can't imagine a new TMNT property that doesn't use the characters they've made.
Scary thing about Slash is that, in the last ronin Michelangelo had grown to full size. Slash was that size already. Think if he was alive to grow to his full size.
Spike turning into Slash and then fighting Raphael was really sad for me when watching it as a kid. Imagine being forced to fight your own pet after they had suddenly become intelligent and very strong while all at the same time turning evil. Spike was Raphael’s most precious companion and it really hurt to watch them fight.
I like the 2012 version of Slash because even though he once held a grudge against Raph's Brothers Mikey, Donny, and Leo, He'd still continue to do good by protecting the innocent and forming the Mighty Mutanimals.

One was thanks to the 2006 movie Turtles Forever, and the other was thanks to my sister actually reading the IDW comics. It's how I remember King Komodo and what he did to Leonardo.
The 2003 TMNT series actually DID have a Slash, kinda. In the Turtles Forever special, Hun gets 1987 Mutagen on him while holding onto one of the 87 turtles (cant remember which one) and is mutated into a giant, spiky, monstrous mutant turtle. He may not have been called Slash, but having a human the size and build of Hun be mutated into a monstrous turtle, he was probably just as strong.
The action figure came first, then the Archie comics, which is why his design matched the action figure. It was a real sick figure, but I guess he was too edgy for Saturday Mornings so he got that dopey looking redesign. You forgot to mention he also appeared in Night of the Rogues, at the very least as a minor footnote. Since he was only in 3 episodes of the old cartoon, it felt weird not mentioning that one. I did feel bad for him in his first episode though. He was violent and had a bad temper but he was literally just mutated that day. Dude has a lot to take in. The Turtles themselves were very ignorant about the outside world the first time April took them out too.
I love the total contrary of Slash especially if you play Turtles in Time first and then see the show its like "what the, who the hell is this supposed to be?"
How many other people bought this toy as a kid purely because he looked like an evil Wolverine-Ninja Turtle? 😅 Me and my brother never knew his backstory but immediately he assumed he was some bamf villain, nice to know we guessed right.
@Marvelous Videos One big correction; In the 2003 Series Slash was not present, BUT in the 2003 Animated sequel Movie, TURTLES FOREVER, Hun, the Purple Dragons leader and big henchman of Ch'rell Shredder was mutated into a Monstrous Spiked Turtle (or as he yells "MUTANT TURTLE FIIILTH!!!") not unlike Slash, even having one bigger eye than the other, and even as much as having his belt buckle twist to look like an S to symbolize Slash. This essentially makes Hun the 2003's version of the evil Slash. Now, before anyone says that he was supposed to be the 2003 version of Tokka, Foot Ninja that were being mutated by the mutagen ooze as an army force, showed 2 specific Foot Ninja turned into the 2003 versions of Tokka and Rahzar, though like Hun not called by the mutant characters' names.
Great video! Aside from Raphael, Slash has always been my favorite TMNT character! My favorite version is the original toy--his bio on the card made him sound like a twisted, cunning predator, so my head cannon has always followed that. I hated his dopey depiction in the original cartoon, but absolutely loved how they portrayed him in the 2012 series! I wasn't a huge fan of his dinosaur-like design, but his character was awesome. Like the Venom of the TMNT. :)
The entire time watching this video I was thinking of Tokka and confused why the character didn't match. It took a flashback of Turtles in Time to realize it was the other snapping turtle lol
Slash was honestly amazing in teenage mutant ninja turtles 2012, he was one of my favorite members of the Mighty Mutanimals, besides Leatherhead, honestly making him Raphael’s pet made in 2012 was the best choice I love his character.
I remember as a kid when TMNT 2 Secret of the ooze promotional images were coming out, I saw Toka and thought he was Slash at first. Thought it was kind of cool until finding out it wasn't him shortly after.
When I was a kid I loved the Slash toy. I was so interesting in the character, something oddly interesting in dark doppelgänger characters. I wish they would have been able to use it better in storytelling. Like with his introduction and also being a ninja he could have masqueraded as Raphael and commit crimes/assaults in order to frame and defame the heroes in a half shell. Another could have been later on where a turtle is captured on a mission and Slash is transformed to look identical (probably Ralph as well because of the grumpy attitude) so he could get close to and possibly kill Splinter. He is able to get close and is ready to deal the death blow when splinter tells him he has known all along who he was. That slash has had a hard life looking for purpose, that he had fallen so far but he is not a weapon, he is a turtle. Slash decides not to attempt to kill splinter and instead leaves to find out who he truly is.
Ah. I remember Slash. Perfect for when your friends want to grab some sticks and run around the neighborhood playing ninja turtles...but there are five of you and no one wants to be Splinter.
I always imagined Slash to be the dark ninja turtle that follows the cold, black path of the ninja much like Shredder but has his ninja honor intact. Slash is the anti-thesis to the ninja turtles' ideals and would always question their benevolent ways as a ninja, which he believes sullied of what makes ninjas so fearsome, to the point of willingly starting a conflict to both prove his point and quench his own battlelust. I feel making him a comrade to the TMNT would be a waste to his potential to become a powerful dark tragic villain.
So, as someone who watched turtles while still a baby in the cradle, I can say with confidence that I damn much like the plot of this comic 10:01, it's damn well served: confusion, despair, mature turtles with a troubled past, unexpected encounters, diabolical enemies. As a fan, I deserve a film adaptation of this product, the best gift for an adult audience.
I so mad as a kid when I finally saw the Slash episode of the '87 cartoon. I had seen the playmates action figure before I saw the episode and thought he would look like the figure in the cartoon
Yeah, we saw the toy and thought he was the coolest character ever (my brother got him), but the cartoon character was a major letdown. When we played with our Turtle toys my brother had his own version of the character that was thankfully not inspired by the cartoon.
I loved this character so much, when I was 10 I named my second pet tarantula Slash lol. I always wondered why the toy wore a black bandanna, and the cartoon one looked the way it did. Thanks to Marvelous Videos I now know. You guys are awesome✌️
Slash's design in the SNES Turtles in Time port was so cool, I wish the Shredder's Revenge game hadn't defaulted to his 80's cartoon counterpart. It's clear the team at Konami saw the actual toy and went with that version.
I think most of us 90's kids were introduced to Slash by Turtles in Time. We didn't have every VHS unless our parents gave us literally everything, or they loved it just the same. When I played TiT with my friends and talked about it at school, no one knew who Slash was besides the boss of 65,000,000 BC.
I love that Slash weapon was a mace and that he was more about his strength than the dexterity like rest of the turtles as it was making sense and gave him more character than just being evil Donatello with Leonardo swords.
I remember that in the 2003 Series Finale, “Turtles Forever!”, Hun became Mutated, and turned into a Spiky Turtle. A lotta fans, including myself, we’re led to believe that Hun became Slash in the movie, and I was actually glad, since he was a lot more Terrorizing against the Turtles, when he became something he Despised.

The fact he’s just superior due to him being so if they weren’t mutants as well. He’s a snapping turtle which can be aggressive and sturdy while they’re just river turtles. There may be a skill different but they must get creative to win against someone so much more powerful.
The 2013 Slash is quite an interesting fellow on a psychological level. His actions from the start of mutation were only to protect and fight for Raph. And the main reason why he held such resentment was because from the looks of it negativity was the only thing Raph had to share with Spike when it came to his brothers, so what else would Raphs "best buddy" think to do than to but those who hurt his buddy in their places. It is an episode of "OH NO SLASH IS EEEEEEEEEVIL!!!" but there are moments where one must not jump to conclusions and think of the reasons as to why someone is thinking some way or saying certain things. Slash only wanted Raph to get out of the house basically to live his own life, be it like an edge lord, but to also be able to clear his mind and be able to focus on himself. Of course Raph is already kinda angsty so honestly there might not be much to "work on" mentally but the sentiment of wanting onlu good go Raph was there XD

I love the total contrary of Slash especially if you play Turtles in Time first and then see the show its like "what the, who the hell is this supposed to be?"
When I played TMNT on the snes my sister looked at the screen and asked me why Leonardo was evil
How many other people bought this toy as a kid purely because he looked like an evil Wolverine-Ninja Turtle? 😅
Me and my brother never knew his backstory but immediately he assumed he was some bamf villain, nice to know we guessed right.
Just read the cardboard cut out on the back of the toy ❤ dimension X has 10 times earth's gravity, thus making Slash incredibly strong.
Always liked the figure because of his blue-green color scheme, and his resemblance to Spider-Man foe, Venom.
I always wanted a team of
Slash
Metalhead
Venis demilo
And a fourth
It's kinda been a head cannon I've always had I'd call em team alpha or something
I only know him from the tmnt 4 turtles in time and that’s all I needed for me to love him.
I think in that game he was portrayed as a prehistoric turtle. I could be wrong.
@@dantevic you are correct he was the prehistoric turtlesaurus
I love the character slash
Great video! Aside from Raphael, Slash has always been my favorite TMNT character! My favorite version is the original toy--his bio on the card made him sound like a twisted, cunning predator, so my head cannon has always followed that. I hated his dopey depiction in the original cartoon, but absolutely loved how they portrayed him in the 2012 series! I wasn't a huge fan of his dinosaur-like design, but his character was awesome. Like the Venom of the TMNT. :)
The designs was crap but 2012 was a love letter to fans
@@k-dogg9086 I thought most of the designs from that show were pretty good, overall. I liked them better than the 2007 movie versions, for sure.
The entire time watching this video I was thinking of Tokka and confused why the character didn't match. It took a flashback of Turtles in Time to realize it was the other snapping turtle lol
I remembered during the 2003 series, Donnie mutation escalated to a form that look like Slash.
I grew up with the original TMNT cartoon and I never got to see these later stories. Thank you!
Apu Origins Why This Classic Simpsons Mainstay Became so Controversial recently and has been removed from the series entirely
Wait what?
Just here to get the lore on that new Kuzenbo SMITE skin
Forgot about this guy. His TMNT 2012 design was super cool. Thanks for the reminder
Your not alone I thought the same thing I wonder if toka was based off of slash
was not expecting this to be so interesting
also at 16:35 , slash wearing the black bandana is heartbreaking for some reason
'By turtleizing the entire planet'. So that's where they got the plot idea for Amazing Spider-Man 2 😅😅😅
When I was a kid I loved the Slash toy.
One of my favorite TMNT toys back in the day 👍🏼
Ah. I remember Slash. Perfect for when your friends want to grab some sticks and run around the neighborhood playing ninja turtles...but there are five of you and no one wants to be Splinter.
My dog played the role of Splinter for us
Slash and Leatherhead were my two favorite boss battles in the Turtles in Time game. Badass designs
He was stronger than letherhead himself
When he got hypnotized by the parasite worm of Baxter fly
In Turtles in Time, Slash was that boss that let you know the rest of the game is gonna get harder. I wanna be like that!
Nah he wasn't that hard it was bebop and rocksteady that actually made the game harder
Slash would be cool if they add him in rise
He made game appearances before in
The past like the first TMNT game
TMNT 3 and turtles in time.
Let me know if I'm missing any.
He was also in shredders revenge
@@Ninten_99 thanks.
"Cold steel meets hot flesh, that's why they call me slash!"
My left ear appreciates the audio dude.
4:40 I still have that figure. 1 in box, 1 out. It was the best iteration of Slash, and it was his design from The Hyperstone Heist.
Nickelodeon’s TMNT’s Slash’s roar is epic
Slash loving his little tree is beyond adorable
This is why Slash is my favorite villain/anti hero Tmnt character
I so mad as a kid when I finally saw the Slash episode of the '87 cartoon. I had seen the playmates action figure before I saw the episode and thought he would look like the figure in the cartoon
Yeah, we saw the toy and thought he was the coolest character ever (my brother got him), but the cartoon character was a major letdown. When we played with our Turtle toys my brother had his own version of the character that was thankfully not inspired by the cartoon.
This was great! Awesome Work! It's crazy... I still have my Slash action figure
Nice vid) Brings loads of nostalgia =) Keep doing the nice job)
I loved this character so much, when I was 10 I named my second pet tarantula Slash lol. I always wondered why the toy wore a black bandanna, and the cartoon one looked the way it did. Thanks to Marvelous Videos I now know. You guys are awesome✌️
Slash's design in the SNES Turtles in Time port was so cool, I wish the Shredder's Revenge game hadn't defaulted to his 80's cartoon counterpart. It's clear the team at Konami saw the actual toy and went with that version.
You forgot his appearance in the later season with the team of the turtles' rogues gallery that was hired by the Shredder.
Thanks for posting this
I think most of us 90's kids were introduced to Slash by Turtles in Time. We didn't have every VHS unless our parents gave us literally everything, or they loved it just the same. When I played TiT with my friends and talked about it at school, no one knew who Slash was besides the boss of 65,000,000 BC.
that was interesting.
I love that Slash weapon was a mace and that he was more about his strength than the dexterity like rest of the turtles as it was making sense and gave him more character than just being evil Donatello with Leonardo swords.
Jesus...... i wasnt ready for this guys voice
Ninja Turtles is one of the reasons why 90s were so great for Kids during that era.
Slash is a badass in TMNT TIT/Archie books, The IDW comics and the 2012 series. Wasnt a fan of the goofy slash bebop and rocksteady stole from a zoo with his little binky lmao how he went from goofy and slow to smart back to primitive again.
I liked the 2012 Slash and TIT Slash were the best versions imo but the idw comic version was cool too.
i still have that toy/action figure. i always thought it was funny that the body is exactly the same as the one they used for Tokka from the tmnt 2 movie.
4:39 wow! What a blast from my past! I had that toy.
Use to love fighting him on TMNT TURTLES IN TIME on the super nes...one best games ever mad
He needs more appeareances
He somewhat debuted in the 2003 show.In Turtles Forever, Hun mutated into a mutant turtle, you can sort of consider him as Slash
That series was a joke.. 2012 was leagues better
And 2012 has Bruce Ree
The fact he’s just superior due to him being so if they weren’t mutants as well. He’s a snapping turtle which can be aggressive and sturdy while they’re just river turtles.
There may be a skill different but they must get creative to win against someone so much more powerful.
So this is the Venom equivalent of the rest of the team. Very impressive as he started off evil and found some balance.
Slash is one of my favorite characters in the franchise
Henkust be an alligator 🐊 snapping turtle
Please do Jennica and Venus De Milo
2:06 me and my little brother cant stop watching this part and pissing ourselves laughing XD
"Ah Wan Mah Binkee!" i cant ever forget Slash from the 80's lol.
This takes me back!
He's like the Venom of Ninja Turtles
It's been forever since I heard bout Slash! I remember having an action figure when I was a kid.....
This was Kool did not know any of this until now thx u👍👍
