@@Olveron I've got one! tappedout.net/mtg-decks/private-eyes-4/ In my experience, getting the three flips isn't the issue (which is why I don't have as many flip cards), it's protecting my commander. Let me know what you think!
Me too. Or I was expecting Frenetic Efreet. Unlike its Sliver version, the Efreet can trigger infinite times for infinite flips. The Sliver only will ever flip once per rotation.
Sadly it's a little pricey. It's an insane card in this deck, it's the reason I managed to brew a near cEDH level deck with this. But it's not for those on a budget
Played a guy who had these commanders. I was gonna kill him with commander damage (was playing doran the siege tower) but I was like "nah, I'll let you do fun stuff its okay bro". His next turn he kills me with something like 120+ dmg. Like... kthx 👍
Flying Raijin I’ve done worse, Very late in the game, I’m playing Tasigur, Golden Fang and their playing Elsha precon, I have my awesome Vilis, Broker of Blood and Horizon Chimera combo which whenever I lose life, I draw cards and gain back the life. And those cards I’m drawing are pumping my Lorescale Coatl, Toothy, Imaginary Friend, Oneirohage, AND Jace’s Projection with +1+1 counters over and over again, like my deck is at 13 cards and I have like almost thirty counters on each of the cards I named. So I swing in for the kill Got him to -73 on Lifelinker.
I literally just played my Zndrsplt and Okaun two nights ago. Got Okaun to over 700k power and toughness and played Chandra’s Ignition. I only had a counter to one instant removal, not the second one.
I love the counterintuitive nature of coin flip tribal and Chaos decks. It's certainly a good idea to have one in your deck rotation to just let lose and have fun!
I remember having built a budget version of this I ended up winning in a pod with 3 CEDH players, to this day I can't forget that win with just sheer luck.
This is one of my favorite decks. I think one game I sent someone absolutely into the shadow realm by hitting them for a 5-digit number due to how many flips I won that round.
Some tech that wasn't mentioned: Frenetic Sliver (edited see parentheses) - you can put this ability on the stack as many times as you want while you have priority. You can put 100 activations on the stack and even if you lose the first flip, you still flip for the rest so you can get a ton of bonuses from your commanders. You can add Lab Maniac to win off you drawing your library. (Ignore this comment. I re-read the sliver and realized you only flip if it's in play when the ability resolves. I was thinking of Frenetic Efreet which doesn't have that clause). The same with the Orc Captain just have to pay 1 for each activation. Also, your commanders trigger if anyone wins a flip, so if they gain control of one of your coin flip permaments, you still trigger your commanders if they win. Also, Chance Encounter is another win-con from coin flipping you can add.
Hey Mitch, I’m a commander player from Texas and I play a mono red krenko coin flip chaos deck and I am truly excited that you made this deck with probably THE best coin flip commanders the entire game has, so I applaud you good sir
I built this deck, played it for the first time yeaterday against 4 opponents, got Okaun to 192/192 then casted Chandra's Ignition to kill everything and win the game. That feeling is priceless. Thanks Mitch for this great deck!
i at one point had a deck with these two, and i was under the idea that okaun's "double power and toughness" effect gave it +x+x until end of turn each time, meaning it would be a 3/3, then a 6/6, 9/9, etc each flip adding +3/+3. if Mitch says its 3, 6, 12, 24, that is A LOT better than i previously thought
Karplusan Minotaur is one of my all time favorite commander cards for it's combination of damage and politics and in this deck it can become a machine gun able to wipe boards. Especially with Krark's Thumb.
Hoooooooo thank you so much! these guys are my favorite commanders! i build "mini game tribal" a while ago, its just a bunch of Fact or Fiction effects, symmetrical RNG effects, and coin flipping. My group loves it, but only a few times a week, lmao.
Zndrsplt is my favorite homunculus. She's just a super fun draw engine! I'm just kinda sad that there are not a lot of coin flipping cards, so Okaun & Zndrsplt decks have a lot of overlap. Super great video tho'! Also, Happy New Year Mitch!
I've seen a version of this, but it's pilot apparently made a coin flipping and calling program so he could flip so many times in a short time. The main problem is that his program called correctly in 30+ chains and he refused to let others see the code and he never wanted a judge called on him.
Awesome build! I can't wait to give this a shot! Any chance you guys are working on a $100 Break the Bank list for Yuriko and/or Krenko? (maybe you can point me to a list in the meantime?) You're budget builds for those two decks are easily my favorite! Keep up the great work!
Because the commander says whenever a player wins a coin flip does that mean even when you lose you still draw or double power but then the flipping is done? Because a player still did win just not you.
This is one of my Commander decks. It's a lot of fun. But it NEEDS Krark's Thumb to be effective. Otherwise it is way too hit and miss and tends to run out of cards and just play like a janky coin flip deck. The thumb gives you a 75% change to win every coin flip. You want cards like Tribute Mage, Gamble, Fabricate, and Goblin Engineer, then cards like Trash for Treasure to keep it around. With that and both commanders on the table, you have really good odds of getting to lethal on Okaun in one attack. From play-testing, you can really cut down on the number of coin flip cards and go with more tutors, counterspells, and board wipes and just let Zndrsplt and Okaun be the sources of coin flips and make it more competitive. With Krark and Zndrsplt your card draw can be crazy.
I built this deck a long time ago. It’s hilarious and very chaotic but it’s controlled chaos. I dealt over 10 million damage with Okaun in one combat. Lol
Literally made my deck about 2 weeks ago, play tested it 1 week ago and here we are :D You have some good ideas for cards that I'll definitely be giving a try! (artful dodge, talisman of creativity, just to name a few). Mine is far from budget but outside a handful of cards, deck is very similar.
This is perfect to watch after having ordered the secret lair commander decks for these cards. Really nice to see how the two variants of the deck take slightly different routes due to pricepoints. Amazing job with this deck tech, will definately make some adjustments when the secret lair comes in!
Mitch, this deck is awesome the only care I added in is The Locust God. I know it is out of the typical price range. This deck is nothing like my play groups decks and I felt that they all were just copying each other. Keep up making great decks
I’ve been looking forward to an Okaun/Zndrsplt deck for a long time, and I’m glad that there’s a lot of red instead of blue with a splash of red! That being said, why are there so many more islands than there are mountains? It looks like there are way more red cards than blue ones
it pains me that he doesn't realize they flip coins until you lose a flip, so you don't just flip 2 coins at the start of combat, you flip AT LEAST 2 coins which is actually a huge difference. I have this deck and let me tell you it can pack a punch :P
so how does mirror march and the blue partner work. how many draws do you get for wins, just for the 1 that triggers march. or do the copies (sacced to legendary rule) still trigger, do they see the prior/same time coin flips?
Hey What about builds with commanders that cost 10$ or more? Do you add that in with the decks cost and cheapen the main board or do you leave it as a separate cost, i.e. the 99 plus shipping and handling is 50$ then you add the commander's price.
Partner commander deck? Nice. Me and my friend like to try making a deck built around a single partner each and go two headed giant. Maybe an idea for a future double deck tech?
You could win with out drawing yourself and having something like the Jace planeswalker to help win the game with no cards in your library with amount of flips you win and with the card draw
I had a under $25 version of this that I was going to purchase in the new year for my birthday for a $25 and under games. Now the deck is valued at $30-$33. Le sigh
