⭐️ Mindy, to remove the garlic smell from your hands, wash your hands with a metal spoon or butter knife in between your palms. Sounds weird but works like a charm. Works on the onion smell too. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
Btw, one tip on the bay leaves, if you have "crumbs" or are cooking for older or younger folks, when you might be nervous about them getting a leaf caught in their throat, make a tea from the bay and add that for the same flavor 😁
My trick for fresh tasting garlic without the smelly hands. Buy a large quantity of garlic and put it in the food processor with just enough oil to make it moldable. I use a cookie scoop to put it out on a baking sheet and freeze them and once they're frozen enough to not stick together I put the little scoops - double bagged - into the freezer! Anytime a recipe calls for garlic I just get a scoop out from the freezer and toss it in. It took me less than 10 minutes to get them ready to freeze!
Sitting down on the couch to meal plan.. opening my computer to find a UA-cam video to watch while planning.. seeing a new See Mindy Mom video and out loud to no one "YESSSS!!!!!" 😂 Then getting even more excited realizing most of what you use in this video I already have at home so adding them to the plan ❤ Love your videos!
Love how u 8:57 offer affordable meals and other options to change it up. Wishing you and your family Happy holidays.hoping your husband finds employment That works for all of you.God bless.
Sitting in my car trying to meal plan while I picked up some lunch…perfect timing! I’ve been stuck in such a rut lately- the normal tacos, spaghetti, hot dogs…I’m so bored and I don’t have the energy to find new meals. So thankful for your channel!
Perfect timing, I was looking for new budget meals to make for my hubby and I and some meals for my youngest bonus son and his family. They have been sick with strep throat and ear infections.
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. We certainly have those seasons when things are working their way through the household. I hope there are some ideas here...the chicken soup was really good!
Glad to see you use that Parmesan rind. I keep mine in the freezer also. Some stores sell them in a container, I'll put the container in the freezer and take one at a time. Gives sauces, soups etc great flavor. Just make sure that you "fish" it out before serving😊
Oooh yes this is perfect! Your meals are large enough that each dinner would be leftovers for lunch for my family. We have 2 adults and a little so I'm looking forward to making some of these meals next week.
Good recipes. I would switch to brown rice and whole wheat pasta. But glad someone else sees the flavor value of bone-in, skin-on chicken.😊 Also add the bones and skin to freezer bag for bone broth.
LOVED this video and price point! My oldest son (6) has to watch your videos when he hears them and he wants to eat all of these, even the soup!😊 Thank you for continuing to inspire us!
I love your cooking and budget ideas. Thank you for sharing!!! ❤ I have watched all of your videos at least once. You do such a great job with your channel. 😊
I worked in a restaurant. Every week we dumped many cloves of garlic into a food processor and chopped them finely and used them all week. Much more efficient than doing them individually and can save your hands! They keep for at least a week in the fridge. Love your videos!
Mindy, THANK YOU for amazing ideas. Im TRYING to train my ADHD brain to meal plan and shop with a list. I get so impatient knowing i need a certain ingredient for a dish.... and end up spending money we dont have. And with recent personal events, ive been forced to become a stay at home mom and utilizing food pantries to make sure we are ok. So these videos really help give me some ideas on dinner for when the oldest son and husband is home.... hoping to get to your level of creativity some day!
Hi Mindy, for the Alfredo, you could substitute rotisserie chicken for the shrimp. I buy a $5 Costco rotisserie chicken and make at least 4 meals from it.
Just want to say how much I enjoy your videos. You are obviously very talented and knowledgeable about food, but what especially gets me is your way of presenting things. You are very positive and pleasant, and it is obvious that you enjoy what you do in sharing with your viewers. Thank you!
I am in Alaska. I pulled out my walmart App to see the price difference. I tried to get the cheapest product I could. I normally shop per weight or amount. Guess what, I was so surprised. Walmart must be fair to us here. My total with your grocery list was only 65.02. There are a few items I can not eat but now Im excited to see what you came up with.
One of the reasons I use Walmart so much is because they’re almost everywhere in the US where 85% of my audience watches from. So even if the prices are a little different, they can still at least get most of the products. 😊
Thank you for differentiating “meal” and “servings”!!….I get so tired of videos advertising “20 meals for cheap” when they meant 20 servings of 5 meals
Used this meal plan for this week, pricing was almost the same, everyone loved the meals, had some leftover for lunches. Perfect. I had to make some accommodations for dairy free, but pretty easy and was able to keep the cost down. We had never tried the apple salad but it was successful, we used green apples and leftover halloween candy! Cant wait for the next one.
I enjoyed watching your video over and over because I keep learning more and more about cooking . My husband always talks about the style of shopping for groceries exactly how you shop and take care of your family. My way is good but I should challenge myself.
I love your videos and will be using them a bunch in the New Year! Do you have a lint to the pan you use? I love the versatility of it and you use it a lot!
All you have to do to get the smell of your hands is run your fingers up and down your water faucet in your sink.... it works!! I wouldn't have believed it... until I tried it....
Mindy, do you keep a sourdough starter? I think you’d love it! I make it about once a week but 2-6 loaves each time I bake, and the rest of the time I keep it in the freezer so I’m never throwing any away. You can make bread, waffles, pancakes, crackers, English muffins, popovers, etc.
I just discovered that washing your hands with toothpaste will remove the smell of garlic and fish from your hands 🎉 hope this is helpful 🙂 I love your videos!!
Too bad Brick doesn’t like potato. Our family are not big fans of rice. Lol. So I tend to substitute potatoes for pasta or rice quite often in your recipes. Talk about changing ingredients!!! Thanks for the tips
Soap your hands then grab the faucet like your messaging it making sure you use all your fingers. Then rinse off,see if that helps. That's what I do even after chopping onions😊😊😊😊
I'm surprised you don't ever use tofu in your budget meals. It's so affordable, especially at Aldi and so versatile. I love one pan meals. Thanks for all the ideas 😁
@user-el2zv8mc2t A lot of folks who watch this channel probably do not eat at least something Mindy suggests but they refrain from posting a barfing emoji.
Wait wait wait -- your husband, a TEXAN, says pee-can!?! Texan demerits! That is our state tree, sir. It's pronounced puh-cahn! 😉 Also, I appreciate when you include seafood in your meal plans!
There are stainless steal "soap" bars that you can buy to remove that odor from your hands. (And they are reusable) Lemon juice is also good for removing that odor from your hands.
Great video Mindy! Here's a tip for "garlicky fingers," wash your hands with mouthwash, something minty. Works everytime. I too suffered from that lingering smell 😂
People let me let you know something just cause you’re broke doesn’t mean you don’t have to season your food. If you have seasonings, please season with your heart content not a pinch of paprika you need like six pinches.
The penne you used in the Hamburger Helper dupe was an Aldi brand (Reggano), which was not shown when you displayed your WalMart grocery haul. Did you just swap one out for the other, or was the Reggano an addition?
I just grabbed the wrong one from the pantry. I also filmed a skillet meals video as I was in the middle of filming this one and I used the Walmart penne in one of those dishes.
Hell the price has already gone up. For 2 bell peppers, bottle of teriyaki, 1 lb spaghetti noodles, 1 lemon, 12oz 41-60 shrimp, 8 chicken breast (variable), 3 garlic bulbs, 15oz jar of alfredo, 12oz cherry tomatos, and 15$ for reusable baking sheet: 74$ holding price, 68$, and thats after saving 11$ for being a wal mart annual member. so in theory.. 79$ for way less than what you grabbed lol. This is getting insane
Stainless steel gets garlic smell off your fingers. If your sink is stainless steel, rub your fingers on the sides, then you can wash hands as usual. Voila! Odor gone!
Here’s another tip for making ground turkey taste beefy: add about 1/2 Tbsp of beef Better than Bullion and 1/4 cup of water. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Don’t add to much of the Better than Bullion, or the turkey will be too salty!
We need budget meals with fewer carbs . It seems most budget meals use pasta or rice . I am a diabetic controled by diet so can't eat these too often .
⭐️ Mindy, to remove the garlic smell from your hands, wash your hands with a metal spoon or butter knife in between your palms. Sounds weird but works like a charm. Works on the onion smell too. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
My aunt says to rub your hands on your stainless steel faucet!!! lol
And try lemon or lemon essential oil!
That's so interesting! A few people have recommended this tip, and I'm intrigued to try it!
@@SeeMindyMom Also try bit of salt or baking soda , rub between your hands ,smell isa almost gone!
I'm Italian so I actually don't mind the garlicky smell 😂
Btw, one tip on the bay leaves, if you have "crumbs" or are cooking for older or younger folks, when you might be nervous about them getting a leaf caught in their throat, make a tea from the bay and add that for the same flavor 😁
Bay leaves get taken out of soup before serving they are just for flavor

Good stuff.

It was delicious! I hope you like it!
The USDA Thrifty family food plan doesn’t have very big serving sizes. You did really well!

Good recipes. I would switch to brown rice and whole wheat pasta. But glad someone else sees the flavor value of bone-in, skin-on chicken.😊 Also add the bones and skin to freezer bag for bone broth.
I have an on-farm bakery, and your comment about all ovens working differently is TRUTH. differently by the day as well lol 😂😂😂
Yes and by the season in my part of the country!
That chicken looks GORGEOUS! I will definitely try that recipe

Snickers salad, it's a real thing. Usually with Granny Smith, but I use whatever apples I have on hand.

Just add the whole garlic cloves with the skin to your pan, once soft remove and they will be so so easy to peel, plus the garlic won't burn this way.
I love the red hair and ruddy complexion on Brick! What a cutie! 🎉❤

Us Northerners usually say "pee-cans" lol. The Bourbon pecans looked delish😋
I think you've got that wrong. Northerners usually say "puh cons".
Pacific NW ... peecons ... like animal p... and con as in a con (man). Depends on where one lives, or was raised.
Try rubbing your fingers on something stainless steel after prepping garlic or onions. Sounds silly but it works!

Do you wver use geound chicken , or ground pork?
I love this meal plan. And since I haven't seen this comment... Pecan is pronounced puh-con. It's a native word that means "Nut."
That toasted vanilla yogurt is my favorite yogurt from Walmart!!!
My fave is the caramel apple pie from dannon, I wish WM would make a store brand of that. :)
Thank you for another great video!! Mindy, do you have a link for the deep skillet you use, or a recommendation? I am in the market for one. Thanks!
The company went bankrupt unfortunately, but it’s a 7qt rondeaux and I’m sure other brands make something similar.
My family wouldn't go for this much rice in a week... wondering about substituting diced potatoes possibly in the soup?
Soap your hands then grab the faucet like your messaging it making sure you use all your fingers. Then rinse off,see if that helps. That's what I do even after chopping onions😊😊😊😊
Your pronunciation Mindy is correct!!!!!! Thanks
Can you link your stove to oven skillet?
No, because the company went bankrupt. But I’m sure there are others like it. It’s a 7qt rondeaux

I can’t believe they toast the nuts the same day, that’s so cool. Do Oklahomans have southern accents?
No, we have more like Texas accents. Not quite the same as a southern drawl.
taco spaghetti!!!

Hey quick question , it's not about recipes , I was wondering if where you live do they have a right to work tax or rain tax ?
Wash your hands with salt first then soap to get rid of garlic or onion smell.
Wash hands with table salt or lemon juice
