This style of model isnt something Ive really dived into, Ive got a kotobukiya hammer that turns into a hand and some other kits bookmarked, but gotta say the thumbnail grabbed me. Black smith, mecha anvil? Definitely curious. Could you model and 3D print a part to fix your joint?

What started as one company with a bit of a monopoly on the plastic kit market has exploded into all sorts of up and comers trying their hands at these mecha girls. It really was only Kotobukiya for quite some time, and even then going further back was their experience in doing garage kits of anime girls prior to the plastics is what helped them get a leg up on the competition.
Hammer and hand sounds like Goldymarg from Gaogaigar. Perhaps it's the RG grade kit from Bandai? It's a nice one. I'd almost suggest getting a stock Gaogaigar if you want a complex and satisfying build that mimics the anime's robot transformation sequences.
I've built a few of these MS General kits now, and I still think the Xiahou Dun kit is my favorite. Worth hunting down I think.
An easier to acquire alternative might be Bandai's 30 Minute Sister lineup. A lot less complex, cheaper, and actually compatible with the 30 minute mission line of models that have a large assortment of universal expansion parts and armor sets.

Without digging through storage I think it's the Kotobukiya MSG Heavy Overd Manipulator.
I'm not really to concerned with complexity though I haven't tried a PG yet. It's really just going for kits that look interesting. Though right now I've got too big a pile to really add to it. I had a lot of the Kotobukiya Hexa Gear line saved from the looks of it but never dove in.

Just finished a Hexa Gear kit for a video. They aren't bad, other than the price.. If you like the size, the Armored Puppet No.57 line is similarly sized and has a lot of variety to it.

Where do you get these from? I am surprised how so many there are of the mecha musume kits that are coming out from China lately.

ShowZ and their sister site, Gundamit are good for getting it straight from the source, but they don't often restock.
Big Bad Toy Store often carries these products in the states- you just need to know which companies to look for, or constantly check out the preorders section.
There's always ebay, but those are a dice roll as to whether you'll find a good deal or not. I've snagged a few good ones there.
You folks have any other suggestions?
