- Time for something a little different. After being informed that Clean Loop had Tomra R1s (shoutout to Alex), I decided to take a trip and see what there was to see. The setup is interesting - there are 2 R1s (plastic and cans), 2 E1 Bulk-Feed systems (plastic, cans and glass), and a lone T-70 for glass.
Unfortunately the R1 footage I was able to get was sub-optimal and I did not record using the E1s, as my phone ran out of storage space and I missed most of the redeeming process. I will be working on getting that video together, although it may be a little while as classes are eating up all of my time and energy.
Tomra T-70 glass machines have a surprisingly small bin, it doesn't look like they can hold more than a couple 24-packs' work of glass.
The audio volume doesn't do justice for how loud those Ramune bottles are when they're crushed, they're made of very thick glass. One of them even shook the entire machine.
Huge shoutout to the person managing the place, they showed me around the back rooms and I got to see all the inner workings of the machines, and were more than willing to answer all of my questions.
This is fun...
Awesome video
Nice Video!
Don’t they also have 2 T-9’s? Iirc you couldn’t order an R1 without also getting a T-9.
No T-9s here. I think both could be ordered separately.
I thought that the tomra R1’s did not exist here.
Only a few places uses them, they're very hard to come by.
what is your problem with Buffalo?
The portion that the center is in is a bit rough. In retrospect the way I worded the description was rude...
@@stockholm2375 lol you think that is a rough part of Buffalo? It is one of the safest places to be during the day. There is way worse sections of the city.
@@wnytrashtrucks Noted.
This is so cool I go to Shoprite in 20 ave nyc 11356
wtf they are going to destroy the bottles? not even sorted by colors?
We don't have a system for reusable bottles here unfortunately. The glass, despite being mixed, is recycled either into new bottles, or used as filler material in construction. Tomra also has processes that can separate the pieces by color and material.
@@stockholm2375 in Germany we have the same machine, but the glass bottles go to the end and are placed on a table. The plastic bottles are lead to the side and crushed.
@@michaelz.7140 Lidl in Germany has glass crusher too.
The way this works is they dump the cullet (crushed glass) into an optical sorter. It uses lights and cameras to “sniff out” the different colors, then yeets them where they need to go with jets of air.
That only for $2.20
Every bit helps
