I rode on a 2008 Gillig Advantage just 2 months ago and I just found out that they’re retired?! It’s a shame but understandable after 14 years of service, farewell 2008 Gillig Advantages, you will be missed 😢 and their fleet is shrinking too, they should add more buses soon
As for the 30 and 40 units they are still running. Reason why they brought back 5008/5011/5017/5025/5027 was because of the new route 27 tech road. And for the 40 footer 09s they retired most of them 5752 and 5757 are in parts retired. 5751/5753/5754/5756 are now training units. Only 5747-5750 and 5755 are in revenue service also they got new announcements so likely 2023 or 2024 both 40ft and 30ft will retire.
Wow I don't know that the 2008 gilligs are about to be retired they are only 14 yrs old. If they are going to be retiring them they should keep like 3 more 2008 gilligs and put them at the silver spring garage.
Sadly they are sidelined so none will be able to move again unless they realize their mistake and bring them back but no they won't. Plus silver spring got new buses coming to their the electric gilligs and the rumor has it 5758-5770 might go to Gaithersburg. Not sure if its confirmed but it is what it is.
@@dmvarearailstransprod22 Like I said before 5758-5770 going to Gaithersburg is a rumor. No confirmed information. and 5747-5750-5755 also the five minis will stay longer as they got new annoucements, so likely they got another 1 or 2 years.
Good News ! These buses are coming back to operate on the FLASH routes. 5737 and 5744 were spotted in the flash bus wrap recently.
Yes they are actually
@@ClearSignalJDMan I wonder if they're going to keep the old annoucements on these
Ride On is also adding hydrogen buses on late 2025 to the Gaithersburg Division
Really well that’s something not replacing the 08s since it’s for only 2025 but lets see what buses will be used for that.

Yep they indeed will be missed I enjoyed my times of riding them. Personal favorites of mine.
@@ClearSignalJDMan yeah and they should add more buses to their fleet, I feel like they’re shrinking
@@ClearSignalJDMan wait what day did they retire?

@@ClearSignalJDMan I see and when will the 2009 Gillig Hybrids retire?
As for the 2009 hybrids they got new announcements too but no date as to when they will retire or replacements coming in to replace them.
@@ClearSignalJDMan I see now and I have a feeling that the WMATA 2007 New Flyer C40LFRs are due to retire later in 2022.
I see these buses threw a lot of smoke out of the exhaust kinda often on their last year I remember seeing one throw a lot of white smoke.
I’ve seen a few with white smoke but mostly they have black smoke as they work very hard to keep people moving around During rush hour.
