It is interesting that Baltimore is the only city in the USA where music is played in all of the city’s metro stations during regular business hours. Mostly instrumental jazz music is played in the stations but in recent years independent pop music with vocals has been added to the playlist. While playing music in metro stations is a nice idea, it should be only limited to station lobbies and not on the platforms themselves as this could conflict with announcements on train arrivals which should be preceded by short musical jingles. The playing of music inside the stations helps prevent homeless people from staying 24/7 in the subway though.
