That’s interesting because I’m the opposite. I used to put a lot of emphasis on story and graphics but the more games I play I find that my favorites often have excellent gameplay above all else. They seriously knocked it out of the park in terms of setting/enemies/assets. I really think if they refine the combat more and make it less open a sequel could make for something truly amazing.
I've just reached the openly testing grounds area. I absolutely agree with you on everything basically. And you are right the semi open would does feel like a chore. I was like oh great i have to go out into the wild again. To be honest I felt a little lost and constantly using my consumables. Because I really wanted to loot and explore, instead of feeling harassed and rushing to the next objective or testing ground.
One thing I had noticed was that, enemies didn't really give me the vibe that they really wanted to kill you. Like compares to Bioshock, those enemies would sprint at you full speed while screaming and screeching all around you, shooting and keep attacking to put pressure on you. You really felt like you're fighting for your life. While in this game robots are just doing casual jogging and giving some attacks here and there. It made all the fights felt gimmickry and didn't have the same weight as Bioshocks.

I give the game an 8.5 out of 10 so far. Not completed it but it does so much right, all the unique lock picking mini games, the robot designs are crazy, the atmosphere and ambiance is unmatched. After I beat the game and saw the final cutscene, I legit questioned out loud; "Wait, did I get the bad ending?" because of how short and... unsatisfactory it was. Always enjoy these thoughts videos, as expected that it's inconsistent with really great parts and some pretty bad parts. At least it's memorable. Nora the raunchy robot fridge and Crispy Critters! Are going to live rent free in my head for some time. I don't think they could've done much better for their very first game. Regarding Ishin, are there any spoilers for the main line games in it? I haven't finished Cohh's Yakuza 0 playthrough yet and intend to watch the other ones.
Ishin is a remake of a PS4 launch title from 2014. It's a spinoff of the Yakuza series. It shares some assets, gameplay and mechanics with the main Yakuza games but isn't part of the same story arc. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ry%C5%AB_ga_Gotoku_Ishin
I've had a lot of time on my hands lately and have been playing a lot of games, back to back. Not having time to distance myself and possibly be more inclined to enjoy any game I play, just for being able to, I've noticed so many games are promising but continually lack a few things that would have made them much better. For example, No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk have relatively impressive settings, but the content is so lacking or generic that it loses my interest quickly. I want to stay in the worlds they've created, but there's almost nothing interesting to do but grind for better equipment and items or do copy and paste missions.
you nailed it to the point on cypberpunk man. Thats why i love fromsoftware, they are creating good narratives and also a really good game, the best that I ve played so far. Waiting for dlc
I may not give 2 thumbs up for the game either but I certainly give 2 thumbs up for the review you provided for the game. I agree with this review 100%. At first I thought it was bad but now I think it's a solid 7/10. Though I've yet to play it, I've only watched most of your playthrough on it.
The english version of the game is lacking in conducting a significant character trait that's made clear in the russian voice acting: the main character is an annoyed and tired exemplar of the so-called "siloviki" (lookup the term on wikipedia) social strata, who's blunt and doesn't respect anyone (except his boss) until they give him a good reason to respect them. He isn't a good hearted kind of character from get-going by default. Intonations of the actor in the english version are just missing the point, perhaps because one has to understand what "siloviki" were back to soviet times and are as a social class in real life. They aren't simply like equivalents of CIA/FBI of the soviet state, there's a specific mindset to be held to count as one.
1) there's no such thing as "siloviki" in terms of social class or mindset. Siloviki means "enforcers" and it's just broad term for overzealous law-and-orderly type of people from police, special service agents, and so on. Sometimes it can be applied to certain politicans, but that's all. Civilians would never be called as "siloviks". 2) The main character doesn't seem like "silovik". He doesn't even acts like one, he's more like annoying teenager who complains, swears and argues all the time. He's just badly written one-dimensional character.
I found it annoying that the English voice actors didn't seem to have received any guidance on pronunciation of names that were borrowed directly from Russian. I'd totally understand not getting unfamiliar sounds right, but it went well beyond that and into things like putting emphasis on the wrong part of the word etc.
In the beginning you say that "there are things that are relatively magnificent". Relatively to what? I didn't watch most of the playthrough, so would like to know what are we comparing it with
Relatively magnificent in terms of general gaming offerings of the same type. In this case, a wonderful world, creative and interesting enemies, a fantastic score, etc.
I got it on game pass on my gaming laptop but the game is having issues with being linked to a controller and I don't do keyboard gaming so not playing it
I thought the game was really good, the only thing that let it down for me was the voice acting. think of the things P3 say, but in a voice like duke nukem. I'd be all over that!
I know it can be played with Russian voice-acting, hopefully with sub-titles. Maybe that would be an amusing way of playing it. Like playing a Japanese game in "Nihon" voice acting.
@@Baraz_Red Sadly the pacing is a bit fucked for sub titles. Characters wont stop talking not even during combat. So you will miss like 50% of it while you fight
I felt the same too. After the first couple of minutes I was bored and it usually never happens 😅. Kindly feel bad though of downloading 75gb game and uninstalling the same.
@@reynold99991 So you basically didn't even get to the main part of the game. lmao. You probably quit RDR2 in the first 10 minutes too. Bad way to decide whether or not to play a game. Even some of the best games have bad or boring early parts.
I really had a good time overall. On the hardest mode, bosses could have used probably 10-15% less HP. Guns seemed pretty weak - rather, melee just always seemed the best choice. Dialogue was sometimes silly or weird but it didn't bother me (his catch phrase did). The most unfortunate part for me was that I didn't feel any pull to do side stuff - either it was too difficult to find, or access, or both. Coupled with the infinitely respawning repair bots, it took the joy out of running in to and wanting to clear an area and explore it fully. Just a couple of hours into the open world area, I felt a sense of defeat in wanting to look around because I constantly had to keep clearing stuff I just killed. That, for me, was the game's biggest problem, and turned an otherwise 30-40 hour run into a 15 hour one. Still a fun time, though.
So far I just encourage playing it in Russian with the English subtitles the English va dialog is very disconnected the main character comes of as an arrogant violent over done soldier stereotype i dislike everyone how ever the Russian counterpart is more tired and stressed he's a soldier with orders but he's not above questioning some things like expermints that risk lives or playing god is he comes of less arrogant and more reserved and wary of people he doesn't understand the ambitions of he respects his boss and believes trust is earned not given
Games like Deathloop or Metro have such great stories and dialogue that it makes me pass on a game without those features. Sure combat is fun but in 2023 it takes more than pretty graphics to make a game worth playing.
Having just finished the game.. the choice of endings, and the way they went about the endings, dragged it down from maybe a 6 to more like a 4 to me. It was bad enough just how absolutely braindead the MC was for the WHOLE game, but the 'twist' in the end was just bad. It made everything up to that point feel like an absolute waste of time. Really soured what was otherwise a very uh.. mediocre playthrough to start with.
Ya I watched someone else play it the other day... the dialogue was so bad in whatever section they were playing I had to shut it off...The constant talking and quipping just got exhausting to listen to and at times just painful. Seems like one of those games you play in the games Native language and just look at subs.
that’s exactly how I feel about the game too. it’s a good attempt at making a good game. even if it ends up stumbling and failing in many areas, it’d be dishonest to say that it was a cash grab or whatever. seems like the devs genuinely cared, but simply didn’t have enough experience to make a great game.
Honestly I thought the game was just ideas taken from other games but not as good as the other games it got the ideas from. It is a hard 6. Exactly what Cohh said. The writing also was just...bad. Plus the outside real- world events are hard to not pay attention too, especially when they stated that weird random comment about China in the beginning of the game lol!! Alot of hopeful games coming out soon tho🔥🔥🤯🤤
I think people who dislike the game just dislike the genre. There’s a difference between not liking FPS puzzle games and the game being bad. And I say that because the majority of the criticism is just "it’s repetitive" which is standard in this genre instead of actual flaws with the game. Maybe the trailers were misleading and some were expecting an open world exploration or a bioshock type game but that’s never what it was.
Just finished it. The combat is pretty fun. The world looks beautiful. That’s all the positives I can think of. It’s buggy. You get trapped in the geometry of the world a lot. I think the story and dialogue are awful. The combat/movement animations are a little janky. The platforming sections suck. The door luck puzzles are repetitive. The themes are confusing. It definitively has an anti-western/anti-capitalist sentiments. It definitely takes inspiration from the Bioshock games with it’s weapons and powers and Ayn Rand’s philosophy of objectivism. I give it a 6/10. I mostly stayed for the combat and beautiful scenery. Mid way through the game I ended up skipping all the dialogue and lore scattered throughout the world.
Your problem is that the game is not made according to your story, references. There's a lot you can't understand in the game. The Russian (Soviet) spirit cannot be conveyed in this game. You have a different mentality.
This argument is flawed because by that logic it's impossible to experience anything foreign as intended. Any game that requires a translation looses that "spirit" as you call it. Just because Yakuza for example is in Japanese with subtitles doesn't mean I can't enjoy it or absorb the themes and messages it's trying to convey if I don't understand Japanese and read the subtitles.
@@CrazyxEnigma Buddy. To understand all the Easter eggs in the game, you need to be born in the Soviet Union and have an upbringing. Music, environment, atmosphere. This is the picture for you. You do not understand many jokes in the game, the details. I can't explain it in words. It's complicated.
Seeing reviews like 'dialogue is cringe 0/10' makes me silently exploding inside. This game is a child of passion, devs were trying to make something new and wonderful, it totally doesn't feel like something from a conveyor which often can be seen. Style, soundtrack, performance, animations, bosses, combat, visuals, cartoons... And people like "gameplay is a chore quite often, game sucks ass"
eeeeehh... a lot of MC interactions are very bad, imo. There's a lot to improve. On the other hand, I really liked lore interactions. Open world in this game just sucks.
Just because a game has passion in it doesnt mean its good? I applaud the devs for putting their heart in it, but some parts of the game are just not up to par and with so many games coming out that just doesnt do enough for me. If you enjoyed it, no one can take that from you and im happy you did, but saying that it should be applauded simply for having passion doesnt make any sense
Except all the so-called “political issues”, I think this game is awesome You see, Soviet violent aesthetic + strong sex intimation, I mean, who else can resist this combo in a video game Just cool! Hack and slash, and enjoy the twins. These things is better than those “BS propaganda”. PS:Great thanks to Mick Gordon. He makes me feel like I’m playing DOOM when playing this game. He earns those credits just like Hans Zimmer did to Crysis OSTs.
> Except all the so-called “political issues” "Postal" phenomenon used to be a popular thing in the past, the modern pc culture is just making everything taste like soy.
As much as I hate say this, I have played this game through years before it was launched. Everybody gets that it's mashup of late post apo boxoffice hits. But *spoiler* the plot is almost spot on same with the 2010 Activison/Raven Soft game Singularity. Soviet tech in a 1950s base goes haywire and a officer with a glove comes to investigate with his tricks and chases down the antagonist of the game. Edit: I waited this game for months, then turned out that it's shit.
“Made for men” (don’t forget to add his snarky tone when reading that). Huh, okay let me get this straight, so for once something in entertainment is actually geared towards the demographic supporting it and buying it (And *sigh* yes, males predominantly play video games over females, despite the lies IGN/UA-cam peddle). For nearly a decade now we’ve suffered as the entertainment industry favored a very specific, minority audience for their products while ignoring their previously targeted, majority fanbase. They basically started doing the exact opposite of what companies did for decades to become successful and it hasn’t worked out so well for them either. What they’re finding out is, that “specific audience” they tried targeting doesn’t actually buy, support, or even like the products they whine and cry about on social media. So thank God there’s a game studio with enough common sense to make a game for the demographic that will likely buy that game… not some cross dressing, self proclaimed unicorn that has never played an FPS in it’s life. So, just for the sole reason that the PC babies will hate it, buy this game.
If by "made for men" you mean edge lord, overly horny, teenagers than I guess so? What in the actual hell are you even talking about? Who is "suffering" from the entertainment industry? And how are they suffering exactly? What exactly encompasses the "entertainment industry"? Is that like the Illuminati? What is not working out for them? Because most corporations are touting record profits and have been for years. There have also never in history been more games to choose from, and with such variety. Is that why you are suffering? Because there are actually more options for other people now? More options for everyone, does not equal less options for you. There are just more of everything for everyone. You have some strong bigotry and projections going on there. You might want to seek some help sorting that out.
Man, so many vague terms in this review. I get the point of not spoiling the plot, but not saying anything specific removes the point of reviewing the game at all.
I do hope these devs can make another game and hopefully improve.

Nora the raunchy robot is basically a collection of memes about Bender's adventures with horny robots in Futurama delivered with 18+ wording.
This sounds like one of the games of all time.

one of the games this year for sure

WOW thats was fast, I have only time for 2 of your videos on youtube and now you finish game wow thats fast.
Maybe future patches/changes will come...
That said, the prospect of playing a jerk is not appealing. Maybe mods will fix that. :P
At least those of us who decided not to play it due to the real world events, aren't really missing out on much
Sometimes a flawed experience is more fun than a perfect but known experience.
He's just badly written one-dimensional character.
i russian and main character nothing like to "siloviki" he's sounds like 20 y.o zoomer
@@andypanz that explains your poor english
@@Mikhalych88 > there's no such thing as "siloviki" in terms of social class or mindset.
surely there is
I found it annoying that the English voice actors didn't seem to have received any guidance on pronunciation of names that were borrowed directly from Russian.
@@CohhCarnage Gotcha, thanks for clarification! Looking forward to upcoming weeks on channel!
@@CohhCarnage honestly the game looks A LOT like prey, does it feel like prey?

I got it on game pass as well but i kinda over clocked my laptop and fried the mother board, so i gotta wait to get it repaired
Surprised you finished the game in 20 hs. Thinked it would be a longer game
Pretty sure they said it was around 24h on the gameplay trailer.
Gonna pass on this one.
Something you're no stranger to 🤡🤡🤡🤡
I felt the same too.
@@suddenimpulse030 I played for more than 1 hour dude 😅. And everyone is entitled to their opinion, if a game just doesn't click it doesn't.
@@reynold99991 you just said you played for a couple minutes, not an hour.
So far I just encourage playing it in Russian with the English subtitles the English va dialog is very disconnected the main character comes of as an arrogant violent over done soldier stereotype i dislike everyone how ever the Russian counterpart is more tired and stressed he's a soldier with orders but he's not above questioning some things like expermints that risk lives or playing god is he comes of less arrogant and more reserved and wary of people he doesn't understand the ambitions of he respects his boss and believes trust is earned not given
Yea 6/10, get it on game pass for pc if u wanna play it tbh, not worth full price
Games like Deathloop or Metro have such great stories and dialogue that it makes me pass on a game without those features. Sure combat is fun but in 2023 it takes more than pretty graphics to make a game worth playing.
would you blame Serious Sam for being Serious Sam? He wouldn't fit Metro for sure.
So this game is not a full open world game
Solid 75/100 game.
I still dont get why this game has an inventory - but I still loved the game.
PS: I do not trust my fridge anymore.
that’s exactly how I feel about the game too. it’s a good attempt at making a good game. even if it ends up stumbling and failing in many areas, it’d be dishonest to say that it was a cash grab or whatever. seems like the devs genuinely cared, but simply didn’t have enough experience to make a great game.
So, the game is crispy critters?
Hey my last name is Janke 😢
I'm disappointed. So many good ideas and technical work overshadowed by bad writing and complete tone inconsistency.
Wish you would remember to say how many hours you got out of it.
Looks like another game where only art designers worked and carried. Kinda sad that this became new norm

@@FurLbauth oh wow so this game must be total dog shit then because DL2 is a fucking disaster

Soviet bio shock
I think people who dislike the game just dislike the genre. There’s a difference between not liking FPS puzzle games and the game being bad. And I say that because the majority of the criticism is just "it’s repetitive" which is standard in this genre instead of actual flaws with the game.
Maybe the trailers were misleading and some were expecting an open world exploration or a bioshock type game but that’s never what it was.
What exact genre do you think the game is then, if it's not supposed to be in the same kind of genre as Bioshock?
Prey + Bioshock Infinite = Atomic Heart. (but not 100% the quality of either)
It is Yankee game? But I though it was Russian..? 😉

A game for men? Dammit.
I apologize for tipping the Like number from 699 to 700 :(
Your problem is that the game is not made according to your story, references. There's a lot you can't understand in the game. The Russian (Soviet) spirit cannot be conveyed in this game. You have a different mentality.
its not his problem, its a problem that the devs should have thought of,99% of the players arent russian and will not get the references

@@CrazyxEnigma Unfortunately, the English dub also cannot convey many words and emotions.
Play the game with the original Russian audio…makes a world of difference.

You need to go outside
Man, so many vague terms in this review. I get the point of not spoiling the plot, but not saying anything specific removes the point of reviewing the game at all.
It's not a review, it's just his thoughts. A review would be more in depth and would include specifics
