New subscriber here. I’m a 42 year old Romanian-American kid from New York and I love Hindustan watches. Absolute wrist tractors. I’m so sorry they went out of business. I only had one HMT hand wind in the 90’s which I foolishly traded and I have always reheated it. I will eventually get a vintage on eBay as a daily watch. I also like Mumbai Specials, like the Seiko 5 automatic I wear often.

Thank you for this much of detailed valuable presentation to us. I never know about any details about hmt watches. I have hmt Rachna purchased in 1991 from CSD canteen. After 2 years. I was not used and kept idle. And it was become repair. Now in 2021 I repaired the watch and simply giving key and kept at room. At night I sure hearing tik tik tik sound giving by kept very near to ear.

Make one series on HMT watch serial numbers, as very few of us know how to find the year and place of manufacture by viewing it.. Such as Tumkur, Chinnar from J&K etc. And what does the star represents in its cap etc.

This is great! I recently started collecting hmt watches but information on them is hard to find here in the United States. Most of the watches available here are frankenwatches built from a mismatch of parts and it is hard to know what is original or not. I would love to see a video about the different models and what kinds of cases/dials/hands were available for each.

Information about HMT is so hard to find in India as well. Especially for someone like me who's born post 2000s and fell in love with mechanicals and just stumbled upon HMT. The quartz crisis hit HMT so bad, also couple that with the fact that it's a Public Sector Unit (Government Operated) so obviously has bad marketing and a terrible website. But honestly, at least in the indian market, from what it seems they're the only ones offering Mechanicals at such a competitive price point. Just wish they were a little smarter with their marketing and update that god awful website from the Paleolithic ages.
