    Finished the install after many months of planing and gathering of antennas, triplexers, poles and Coax, Its all finally up and running.
    Antenna grounding is done via the poles bottom mount to an earth rod

    I just watched your 4:1balen build video with DX Commander. Led me to your channel. I'm just getting started with Ham. Been on the Emergency Services side of things for 26 years. I'm enjoying gaining knowledge in HF through UHF frequencies now. Thanks for putting these videos out!

    I see a duplexer outdoors. Since the IC-9700 is a three connector I have to assume there is another duplexer indoors. One duplexer inserts far more losses than I'm willing to live with for weak signal work. Two of them in one system would be a real problem for me. I fully get trying to be efficient with cable use and types. But the losses of the two duplexers combined is probably much more noticeable than a single run of high quality coax will save you. Otherwise, It's a great looking installation! GL and 73s.

    What did the IP68-rated box say to the drill? "I thought we had a water-tight relationship!" 😆

    Nice job!!! You will be able to knock Cal out of his chair 😂😂😂...Seriously though, very nice job, I like the clear coax jacket, looks more clean than the standard black jacket..So do you recommend ferrite beads for 2m and 70cms??? I'm about to replace all my coax and some people tell me you do not need a common mode choke for 2m and others insist on it..What's your advice? There is a company here in the states called ABR Industries that will install and heat shrink up to 7 ferrite beads on your coax from the factory on LMR 400 flex..

    Thanks for sharing your installation with us. Is that a Unistrut pole?
    My only concern is that clear coax, I dont think it would be UV rated, but I could be wrong. Things don't last long outside downunder.😐🇦🇺🍻

    No pole grounding or coax shield ground? How come.

    • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  3 місяці тому +1

      The pole is grounded via the bottom bracket to earth rods, the antenna are on a fibreglass pole, grounded via a lightning break to the same ground rod.

      Yes the coax used turns out to be SF-316/ or similar (Timesmicrowave) with a loss of .041dB over 30M/100ft, it was given to me by a Cell tower engineer some years ago.. Wish I had lots more. :)

    I see three beams on a stick, I see a vertical multi bander on a stick, but I didn't see any 30ft parabolic dish on the roof, or 5 stacked 6el 80m Yagi's on a stick. How are you going to work DX without those? You need more antenna's than radio's, the bigger they are, the better they are, contesting is the ONLY form of radio allowed in Europe now isn't it? It's ALL I hear in my rural area in Australia, BIG noise with BIG signals coming from Italy, Germany, France, Spain and a few others.....
