    You can see the prong collar is not hurting this sweet girl in any way. I have ordered leashes, (flat) collars, and multiple harnesses. My dog is still crazy. I am ordering a prong collar TODAY! Its time to get my 80lb GSD under control. FOR ZEUS!

    Your training style is equivalent to that of a smart parent teaching other misinformed parents (or sometimes bad ones) how to parent. I think it's superb and not well-understood among many trainers out there - which is why I binge watch many of your videos. I often will learn something new on each video.
    As you clearly teach, it's about relationship and discipline. I've seen some comments improperly define these two words:
    -Relationship doesn't mean you give your dog 100% freedom so they love you more, rather it means to have the dog trust and have confidence in you so they'll respect you (the parent). But before you get that, you have to have discipline...
    -Discipline doesn't mean you have to physically or emotionally abuse your dog to get them to do what you want, you just have to set small and minor consequences for their actions so they know the rules. Failure to tell them the rules is not fair to the dog. But, just as importantly, you've gotta have postive reinforcement.
    That's when the "you can have your cake and eat it too" comes into play. In almost every training session, I see the rules being clearly "explained" to the dog (the discipline and positive reinforcement) and then, almost naturally, the relationship follows.
    Once these are thoroughly trained, you can start removing the consequential tools because you've developed that relationship you teach about.
    Clearly genius work here sir...out of ALL the dog training videos (really people training :) ) yours are my go-to and will be the channel I recommend to friends and family.

    2:46 >> From a treat dependent service dog mom here, THE STRUGGLE IS REAL! So excited to start with our Dogtra to expand and clarify our communication. TREATS are not the answer, they are a great tool for foundational building! Otherwise you get a dog who is "prompt dependent" this can also happen when owners give commands over and over and over until by the 6th time they sit. Thanks again!! On to the next video!

    Best 17 1/2 minutes I’ve ever spent on UA-cam ! I adopted a 1 year old Pit/great Dane from growing up in the shelter. Who knows what this poor guy has been through? He is super intelligent and wants to learn. Harness and “Scooby snacks “ just aren’t enough. Now that I have been educated on the correct way to use a prong collar, I have no doubt that he will learn as quickly as this dog has. Thanks so much for your vids. Your casual, straight forward, matter of fact style of explaining things is the best I’ve heard. Having a dog look up to you with such love and respect is one of the best feelings available. You are helping people achieve this with their animals. What a gift ! So many people have never had a real , close relationship with their dog. People need to put down their phone and enjoy their walk/bonding session/adventure with their friend. All too soon that friend may be gone ... and it will be too late. Dogs rock !

    Use Herm prong collars, beware of fake Chinese copies, pay the price or pay the price. Even you can train your dog quickly, efficiently, safely. Also use a back up collar with safety chain connection between herm and regular collar just in case you pop a link.. no one ever seems to mention that...

    It amazes me, the results you get so quickly. I'm currently in a dog obedience class, we use food as a reward with a clicker, and I am not allowed to bring a prong collar. My dog is an American Bulldog, 5 years old, strains at the end of the leash to the point where I think she's going to injure herself, and yet they will not let me use a prong collar. I'm as frustrated as the dog, probably more so.

    why a herm springer prong collar vs any other prong collar and does one with rubber caps on the tips work as well as one without the rubber caps

    • @charlieg3674
      @charlieg3674 4 роки тому +1

      Rubber capping can cause glide burns and take the collar out of position. The rubber capped ones are also cheaply made and are often sharpened under the caps which can be extremely unsafe if you either take the caps off or the sharpened end wears down the cap and you end up stabbing your dog.Herm Springer brand prongs have links going in both directions so pressure is evenly distributed even more than a prong with one direction links.

    I wouldn't of thought this training was posible, call me sceptic but I thought it was some kind of joke, put on a dog that pulls like mad next minute doing all what is asked of it. So there is only one way to prove it tryi it yourself, my dog was a little like this pitbull but mine is a German Shepherd, he isn't aggressive in fact very lovely and 80% of the walk is good until he sniffs the ground and wants to stay, sees another dog not every dog but some he goes crazy some he as no interest and then finally he decides he wants to play when crossing the road. I have tried Harnesess, Halties, chokers even the trat and praise to no avail, I don't blame the dog when I first got him I started training him and it was going real well until I started to walk with another person with German Shepherds, his German shepherds ran up to people and bassically did what they like so mine followed, after some trouble in a park I decided I would go solo with my Dog but could never get back to the co-oporation I got at first, he is not aggressive and is lovely so didn't want to gwt to tough training.
    My two previous dogs where properly trained but by old school and I didn't want to do that, as old school does effect the trust and love of the dog and trainer, so after all had failed like I said sceptic about the prong collar but worth a try. I used it the first time yesterday 4th August 2021 and what a response fantastic had none of the prvious troubles, the difficult part was when he saw another dog but nothing like before so yes certainly works now we can progress with our training and hopefull trust him off a lead to play ball, after all getting a dog isn't about us its about our dog. So yes would recommend a prong collar tried him later on without it a little better but still a little way to go. But I am sure soon we will be able to walk without the prome collar as its certainly got his attention. Mike
