    I love your video! It is really helpful. Also it is great to present us all the informal, formal way of speaking. But my Japanese friend from my school told me that it is better I am learning the polite form with my teacher because it is not very welcoming to speak in informal way, even with people from my age, and even if we hang out a bit. So even if it is more fluent and the way Japanese speak, I might don’t need it for a bit of time because I’ll have to be polite 😅 that’s what my Japanese friend and my Japanese teacher told me :)
    What do you think about it?

    • @user-cq9pl4vv9j
      @user-cq9pl4vv9j 3 роки тому

      It's a progression from informality to formality, the ます forms being the more polite:
      なきゃ → なきゃいけない → なきゃいけません
      ないといけない → ないといけません
      なければいけない → なければいけません
      なければならない → なければなりません
      These are the forms I know (wouldn't be surprised it it were more).

    • @benredfield6643
      @benredfield6643 Рік тому

      This is an old comment but a good question, so I'll add something that I've learnt, just in case it's useful for anyone that sees this.
      In a casual situation you can just end with なきゃ、but if you want to add more parts to the sentence after that you need to use いけない almost as a connector. Extra pieces of information can't add straight onto なきゃ. I've been told that this sounds weird because なきゃ has the feeling of being the end of the sentence.
      So for example, "I have to go to work tomorrow": 明日(あした)、仕事(しごと)に行(い)かなきゃ。
      "Because I have to go to work tomorrow, I'm going to sleep": 明日、仕事に行かなきゃいけないから、寝(ね)る。
      Because I continued the sentence after なきゃ I added いけない and then から。

    Sensei, I was told by a Japanese 40 ysold woman that this way of speaking 〜なきゃいけない is only for ladies and not man. She also added I’d look female by saying this way. Is this correct?
